all I can say......I visited Seattle in November.....YUCK!! sm
What a dismal dreery environment. I could never ever live there......
Seattle, Washington. Anywhere in the Pacific NW, for that matter.
.
Have you ever visited a
They are smoking on the front porch and the nurse brings the booze cart around at 5 with airplane booze bottles.

in other words....don't re-partake until you are in the hospice, or you might cut yourself short of the 9 months!
I just visited the site
It is really pretty, but kinda pricey. Did you order from their website or can it be bought someplace else that's less expensive?
never lived there but visited.
I love it. So jealous of you. Good luck!!
When I was little my parents were visited by one
It was so scary. I had people come to my school and look all over my body. Then I came home and my mom was rushing around cleaning and so panicked. It seems one of the neighbors called on them and told them that my mom burned us with curling irons and smacked us around. Which did not happen. In fact, our neighbors across the street and next door were outside until the lady had left with their eyes all on us. Sounds to me like you might just need to move and start new somewhere else. That is an expensive option, but I have not doubt that it would be good emotionally for you.
Just visited Montana and no body
lives in Montana nor a lot of the states where I visited. Saw lots of horses, though. Drove for miles without seeing a soul, no houses, no businesses, only horses.
Any Houstoners out there? I visited there this summer and I am yearning right now for sm

the Galleria Mall. If I were close to Houston or in Houston I would jump in my car RIGHT NOW and go there. It was beautiful and amazing. It had Louis Vitton, Kate Spade, Coach and other high end, can't even afford to browse, stores and shops in that mall. I loved it. Very pretty.  But the food court was the best! My husband and I took the kids and we spent hours there! It has everything. I guess living in the country in a small town out of state is what is making me yearn for the big city right now. It's Christmas, cold, I have money to spend on gifts, and I just want to be in a big city!!

I know NY is crazy this time of year, but I'd go in a heartbeat!! You are fortunate if you live in a big city

Have you guys ever visited the site called...

I can has cheezburger?  Oh my gosh some of the pictures people post...and the captions they think up....KILLER!

college costs
DD just got accepted to the Pratt Institute, an art and design college in NY. Cost for first year including room, board, fees, books, etc., $48,000. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Seems like a lot money to learn how to paint and make collages.
There's more to college costs than just

the tuition.  Parents have a responsibility to their children to see to it that they are educated in a manner that prepares them for a career, not flipping burgers.  I know that that wasn't always the norm and that college was a privilege, but now it is a necessity.  You can't make it in the world without some kind of degree and not helping your children with their education is selfish.

That's not to say that the child shouldn't bear some responsibility in this.  He/she can certainly get a part-time job to help with books, living expenses, etc.  I see nothing wrong with the child taking out the standard student loan either, but dumping them out the door at 18 with nothing more than a high school education is not being a responsible parent.  Perhaps that's the problem today.  So many parents don't have time or are too selfish worrying about themselves to make sure their children are set.  It's not about money, it's about responsibility.

Judging by your responses, I'd say your husband's divorce was quite bitter and perhaps the animosity you feel should be directed toward his ex-wife and not the children.  They obviously had no control over that money that was given to their mother.  While my children aren't ready for college yet, one thing I have learned already is that you never stop being a parent.

Why it costs 400 bucks
They make custom trays for you, which last pretty much forever or until your teeth move significantly, whichever comes first. Then you just buy the tubes of bleaching gel, which is not that expensive. The custom trays are wonderful. They are held on tightly by the gel. My dentist charged $300 and the gel was $35 a box, which is 4 tubes, which is a LOT of gel.

I would not have the trays made right away if she has just gotten her braces off, as from what I hear her teeth are likely to shift somewhat.
This medicine is not OTC, rather it costs
1300.00 per month! Can you believe that? It is for HIV so it is something she really needs to get. My pharmacist told me Medicaid might be able to pick up what her insurance co does not pay (they will pay 400) so actually the cost per month is a whopping 1700. My pharmacist also told her to push hard while speaking with her own ins place that they should cover the cost. Maybe she just was not forceful enough. Bottom line, I was just seeing if others faced similar situation.
Have visited this site before and I was shocked and disgusted at the people I knew. nm
!
CLASSMATES ya have to register costs zero

very easy at classmates.com, except for their ads (ignore them) - find the state, the school, the year you're interested in, then scroll away for the people's names.  Most marrieds put up their maiden names at classmates.com.

costs $30-$40,000 per year to house each

The jails are overflowing here.....and it costs anywhere from $30-$40,000 annually to house EACH individual inmate...that the taxpayers pay for....

something to think about.....

I was in British Virgin Islands last week and it was 5.78 on one island we visited. Nmsg.
no msg.
House costs here are not that fricking high
We bought a new home, 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, stucco, lovely wooded area behind us for about 220,000 about 3 years ago. It is a wonderful neighborhood with tennis courts, 3 swimming pools and loverly! I know the prices of homes in California really high and watch HGTV and I, for the life of me, cannot see what is figured into those prices because what you get is certainly not what we got for a third of the prices there. Husband believes in paying the monthlys in advance so our mortgage is coming down really fast. We are still able, thank goodness, to enjoy all the extras such as dinners out, theater and the like. It is really sad to be in a place where the housing market is so far above what it should be that people are unable to have decent housing.
Sounds like a scam. Crap like that costs the rest of us
Ridiculous.
I've noticed the rising costs of groceries lately

I believe the cost is partly to blame for the obesity in this nation.  It is so much more expensive to try to eat healthier.  I can make pizza for my husband and 3 kids for under $10.  Yet, when we have chicken, potatoes, a vegetable and bread -- it's closer to $20.  Of course when I serve the "full course" meal, my kids expect dessert, too.  Is there no end?

I actually found myself stocking up last week on eggs because they were on sale and I knew I'd be making deviled eggs for T-day.  I bought 6 dozen eggs.  I have never bought that many eggs at once before in my life.  But I saved 75 cents a dozen.

crazy stuff! Who buys this? My mascara costs $ 4.-- to $ 8.--.nm
nm
I have been making my own laundry soap. It only costs me about $10 for a 6-month supply. nm
xx
Is that over the counter. I checked on Zovirax ointment and it costs $180 for a teeny tube. That
is crazy and the insurance wont pay a penny.
Loved it!!!. nm
Ha Ha
I loved NC
I was 20 miles north of charlotte.  I think NC is a beautiful state.  I would love to go back some day to a metro part of NC.
We have had them and loved them...

got my daughter one when she was about 13 (she is 25 now) and she has had 3 others since. Ours were all descented, though they did still smell some, but just gave them baths, which they love! We got such a kick out of watching Tinker (our first one) run throughout the house stealing socks and hiding them under the couch. Never had a problem with them, they sleep most of the time, ours were never aggressive towards us. Our cat and ferret got along wonderfully. Just like anything else in a cage, you have to keep it clean, but that is to be expected.

Me too and I loved it. nm

Loved my mom, but.... sm
Sunshine, when I look back, I wish I had not taken what my mother said as gospel. I would have used my own discretion as to right and wrong behavior and SHE would have to grow up and accept it. You know in your heart what is right and wrong or you would not have asked us for advice. Your Mom needs your love, but you also need to be your very own person. You have a new life now which includes your husband. Do it for him, go with him and if they don't want to go along, tell them you will look forward to celebrating with them next day. In the meantime, they can "be your guest and have a good time until you get home." You take care, be strong!! All the things Mom teaches us are not exactly the right thing to do. Be fair.
Loved it!
These things happen all the time and we have to laugh at it. Just read your local newspaper for more. We are wordsmiths, so we have to have a little humor now and then. We were celebrating a birthday, an anniversary and something else all at once, so we asked to have "Happy Occasion" written on the cake. We had a terrible time getting "occasion" spelled correctly by those behind the counter. Blame the school system, not the cake decorator.
LOVED IT
although it was sad, it was very funny in parts, and had an awsome ending, can't believe the reviews were so bad, favorite movie since The Holiday. Loved seeing Denny from Grey's Anatomy in it. And yes, I need a poster of Gerard Butler now on my wall, LOL!!! My new fantasy man.
Loved it. Thx

Yes and I LOVED IT
I loved that show--how you doin.. Heehee
My dog is very much loved thank you ---
what I mean is that I will never, never get rid of him so that no matter how much he irritates me by marking up everything I have in the house, chewing up my things that he can get to, scratching up my hardwood floors, pulling down my curtains when he wants to play, then I have about 10 more years of headaches because I love him dearly and he is not leaving this house!

So don't feel sorry for my ball of fur - he is very spoiled and very much loved!
I loved 4H
But could be because my best friends mom taught it and we were all together all the time. I have to admit the most I remember about 4H was learning to can food, basic nutrition, I knitted my first pair of slippers, but at 48 its been over 30 years, so I don't remember much, just that I had fun and learned stuff. Here in our town (now on the west coast) they do have 4H groups around. But nice to know there are other 4Hers out there.

P.S. - Not sure if you remember that girl scouts went like this - brownies grade 2&3, junior grade 4, 5 & 6, cadettes 6 & 7, seniors 8 and maybe 9 (can't) remember. Now there are so many branches and I get offended when they call say you have brownies and then girl scouts. I consider all levels girl scouts. Well its been over 20 or so years since I've been in girl scouts too so lots have changed.
loved it!

Thanks and Amen!

I did and LOVED it
I just love all of them, and thought they all looked great. I still watch their original MTV series DVD and laugh myself silly.

I'll keep watching it (provided I remember when it's on...I have a terrible memory about that kind of stuff!).

That made my day, I loved it !!...nm

ooh, your's too - I LOVED YOUR POST....

I too have friends of ALL denominations - so whose is right??  I think much of it is myth....the adam and eve story whereby if woman was made from his rib, then men should have 1 less rib than woman, right?  WRONG....my plastic surgeon (who I work for) confirmed that both men and women have 12 ribs.......

so that adam and eve story was shot to you-know-what once he said that to me....

oh and he's a religious Jewish person *LOL*

I loved reading this. sm
I also read it on the Comedy board and shared it with my Bible School class. Will share wtih my adult Sunday School also.
Loved the original. sm
I haven't seen this one yet, but I will. A couple of columnists have said that it is not as good as the original. One said J. Travolta was fabulous but the rest were just okay and not as good as the musical. Someone else said it didn't seem to live up to it's hype. I guess to each his own.
If you really loved me, by Ann Rule. sm
she writes true crime books, really excellent writer, one of my favorites. However, I need to mix it in with chick lit, recently finished The Devil Wears Prada. Had the Nanny Diaries on my mp3 player (I thought the stories had a similar tone). Also like Michael Lee West book Mad Girls in Love, because it takes place in Tennessee, and she had some familiar places in it. Want to read some of her other stuff.
I loved them both, but get the books
and then nobody will have to talk you into seeing the rest of the movies, LOL.

Plus with the movies you don't get into Harry's head as much, and that's where you get to know Harry. I can only imagine that people who only see the movies don't know him nearly as well as the readers do.

just curious - did you see any of your loved ones? sm
i too kinda believe in reincarnation. mom my swears my daughter is my sister reincarnated. odd, but lots of similarities.
I loved the first couple of those they did but since then
it has gotten just too cutthroat for me, and the people they have on there are not likeable enough to make me want to root for any of them.
Loved, I agree (nm)

Loved all these fun movies sm
You had Joe Pesci correct. I am not a person who swears a lot but he swears so much, it gets hilarious. Of course, I watch him with no kids around. He swore so much in Casino that I was laughing all by myself. Husband and I are getting older, so we joke about Python's skit - Bring out your Dead! But I'm not dead yet! So hilarious! Thanks for the laughs. No offense meant by the swearing, I just love Joe Pesci, loved him when he was ordered by the court to live in his own slum houses. I am sure he's a much nicer guy in person. Thanks for the memories.
