In Reply to: You can get Visa, MC gift cards at banks. Then no - lilmit on where they can be used. nm

There are hidden charges with some of these gift cards. My mother gave me a Visa gift card for Christmas this year. It cost her a $14.95 "Activation Fee" and it costs me $4.95 a month in maintenance fees. The first "maintenance fee" was taken out within two weeks and I had not even received the physical card in the mail yet, so I never actually received the whole amount my mother wished to give me for a gift. These may be nice, but people have to be aware of all the hidden terms and prepare for that ahead of time. What my mother had intended to give me was 50.00 and ended up costing her 64.95. I was expecting to get 50.00 and ended up with 45.05 and I have to spend it quickly or continue to lose 4.95 a month for maintenance. Not a very "good deal" if you ask me. but to each their own.
