or jewerly supply places for about $30. We (jewelers) use it to heat up pickle solution (cleans the metal after soldering). I bought might from a place called Rio Grande, big jeweler supplier. You can probably find one used on ebay or craigs list though.

I burn those Yankee tarts in my tart burner
right now have Christmas Wreath in to get me in the spirit. I think they give off more of a smell than the candles.
He does supply needs -- not wants
I guess it would depend on if you 60K was your desire for things or an honest need. I personally know of a lady and her daughter who absolutely had no food in the house. The lady set the table and called her daughter to come and eat. The daughter said what are going to eat? The mother said God will provide. They sat down and prayed a blessing over the food they were trusting God to provide. Before they were done praying someone pulled in their driveway and came with several bags of groceries. The man said I was on my way home from work and God told me to stop and by some groceries for you. That is a true story. I could give you the names of the mother and daughter. Needless to say --He will also provide the calm that we need to face the storm until he supplies the needs.
go to Sally's Beauty Supply if you have one

I promise you this will help thinning hair and also I have shared this with my friends who have lost their hair due to chemo treatments.  This is a leave-in hair conditioner, comes in a plastic tube (you have to shake it up each time) that smells terrific.  Now, you don't just apply it like hair conditioner, what you have to do (and there are no instructions to tell you this) is you have to move your scalp back and forth with your fingertips once you apply this to your scalp.  The scalp moves very little - but it is this little movement that stimulates the conditioner into making your hair MUCH THICKER within 2 months!  I PROMISE YOU.  I was on interferon in 2000 and a hair salon owner told me about it as I had hair loss (not total) very badly from the interferon (a clinical trial used on me but not for cancer) and what she told me was the absolute truth!!!  If you don't have Sally's Beauty Supply, try any beauty supply store.  Fermodyl comes in many numbers but you are looking for number 7.

Hope this helps - as a matter of fact, I am 110% sure it's going to work for you.

OMG!!! Does he supply them with drugs and alcohol
so they will be doing that in the safety of their home as well?

I am floored by that reasoning. Its as if there is no hope of teaching a child to make smart choices so might as well have them do it in front of you. What on earth is that teaching them?? I'm sorry but you do not need to be a parent to see how completely asinine that is.

By the way, you should ask him if his home is "safe" enough to preclude AIDS and other STDs, pregnancy, etc. Maybe he thinks there is some soft of "force field" protecting her there. Egads.

Check with your local art supply store

An artist's portfolio works great for things like this. They come in all sizes and are generally relatively flat. Link below is to a site that sells portfolios of different sizes. I don't know about their prices - you might do a little research.

Fermodyl #7 from beauty supply store

only thing is - this is a leave-in hair conditioning treatment - you massage only the scalp part and by only moving the scalp versus your fingers....my hair grew back in 2 months (was on interferon and lost a lot of hair on that drug) with Fermodyl #7.....

zinc is good for hair, teeth, and GUMS.......

I understand some parents don't supply stuff- sm
but what is wrong with regular pencils, a whole lot cheaper than mechanical. I would buy some extra of those no problem, but $21 for pencils is a bit too much. In theory the teacher keeps each kids supplies in their own box at our school, so the supplies really are for my kid and not others, they supply their own note paper, markers, pencils, folders, notebooks, crayons, etc. I am sure some things end up in a general grab box for everyone, like the pencils and construction paper. I just remember when I went to school, all we needed was a few pencils in grade school.....as we got older, folders and a notebook, pens and pencils. Now you need ever little thing. The big thing was back to school clothes not supplies. I cannot even buy my kids any new clothes as I am spending it all on supplies, so far $140 and I am not done, plus it would be $11 more if I bought all the "required" pencils.

Heck yeah I'd love a gift certificate to Tractor Supply!
I found a really neat gift there for a horse lover thats only $50. It's a (fake) bush that is cut like a horse and has Christmas lights on it. Very cool (at least I thought so!)

Maybe a personalized saddle pad? You could get someone to embroider his name (or his horses name) on it.

A double duh here
I was answering the post above me when they said Merck would benefit off these injections. Yes, I said, that is what most pharmaceutical companies are in the business for. I use medications, my husband does, my whole family does. I really don’t understand what you are trying to say?? This in no way will effect me whether it is mandatory or not.
Double Yea to Andy!
Good for him! Good for you!
I will not tell you what my first thought was when you wrote "detasseling", but I can assure you it had nothing to do with corn!

My son is a college student. He has a job on campus. I pay the college bills he pays for whatever he needs while at school. This is his 2nd year and so far so good - he's never asked me for money. He was home on break a few weeks ago and was so excited to show me this t-shirt he bought at a Goodwill store. It was black with a very large photo of Michael Bolton on it. He thought it was a riot, and so didn't I because we both have a warped sense of humor. He is a very preppy-looking kid, usually wears a white t-shirt with an opened collared shirt over it, nice jeans, clean-cut, short hair. The Michael Bolton t-shirt is SO unlike him. He's now looking for a shirt with David Hasselhoff on it. You will may be entertained by what your son buys.

Enjoy these years, they are THE best!
Thanks. I will be sure to double check this. nm

Say what, in the south we have double
names for males also, since when did you think it stopped at females?
Funny that the double name comes up
I was going to add that to my original post, as both of her girls have double names. So, for the third girl, she wants to keep it the same. They have kind of given up on that tho, since they haven't been successful at finding anything. Thanks a bunch!!!
double standard

Men have been doing it for centuries....marrying and/or keeping mistresses about 15-20 years younger and nothing is said about it, other than "You lucky dog."

Why is it so frowned upon in society for women to consider the same option?

Ditto and NEVER again. I'd rather pay double! lol
Amazing what some people will do to save a buck.
Oh no, we're going to H E double L!

Are you even capable of making a point without the scare tactics? And you wonder why bible thumpers like you are laughed at.

It is considered a double negative, sm
and not standardly use.  Use "regardless", or "irrespective".  It is considered bad grammar.
According to Wikipedia, double-wides just
depreciate more slowly than single-wides:

"Others have strongly limited or forbidden all single-wide models, which tend to depreciate in value more rapidly than modern double-wide models."

And modern double-wides depreciate less quickly than older double-wides:

"Newer manufactured homes, particularly double-wides, tend to be built to much higher standards than their predecessors and meet the building codes applicable to most areas. This has led to a reduction in the rate of value depreciation of most used units."

Unfortunately that's still losing money instead of making it.

I had a mouse get in my double oven many
years ago and get electrocuted on the wiring. Needless to say the kitchen smelled like something dead for DAYS. I tore the room apart and never found it. When we took the front electrical panel off 3 months later to replace a report, there it was! Looked like it was crucifed. All bones and they all fell out all over the stove. Yuk.
I double lock the door and have a
security latch as there's been a lot of break-ins at gun point lately. We live in an apt and since I work overnight I've actually had people that thought my door was their door and tried to unlock it...drunk ones, of course.

I've thought about leaving my keys in the car and the windowns down (1999 car with 137,000 miles on it)....JOKING.
Are we going to h-e-double-hockeysticks in a handbasket or what? NM

I'm short so I always have to pull my straps double all the way
I get mine at Walmart and Target. but I was thinking maybe if I get a few good bras they would stay. So I went to VS and holy moly...$50 bucks for a bra? I'll stick with my slippin straps!
My company pays double time, so I work
4 hours spread out through the day on those days, maybe a few in the morning and then a few at the end of the day.  There is never a shortage of people wanting to make double time on these days.  At the places I have previously worked, we did an every-other-year thing for both these holidays unless people didn't want to work them, and nobody was forced to. If you don't want to work a certain day for religious beliefs, you should state this up front, otherwise ask them their policy and whether or not that is something that would work for you.  You always have a choice not to take that position.
I remember when Nancy Reagan had a double mastectomy
and if I remember correctly, she was only diagnosed with it in 1 side. Not that you have cancer but I remember thinking and talking about her at that time I thought have a bilateral mastectomy was the way I would do in case of this ever happening, plus as aggressive chemo and whatever. Up to now, no further problem with her and I thought she made the right decision, just to be rid of the concern about the other breast eventually having to go back again. By the way, had hysterectomy, not for tumor but unending bleeding and probably best thing I ever did, vaginal route, really no down time, no pain (unlike before). Good luck with your decision.
Separate bathrooms would definitely be great, or 1 huge one. Nix to the double

I wear Bali double lift bra. I know Penneys SM

Looking at holiday pics, I am so disappointed in my double chin. sm
Any ideas how to get rid of this fat bag around my chin/neck area?  Do you just have to lose a lot of weight for it to decrease?  I am obese at 180 lbs, 5Ɗ".  But boy it just looks horrible in pics.  It bothers me more than the actual overall weight does.  Guess diet is in for my New Years's resolutions........
Oh, and double check which side you are supposed to sleep on (sm)
I think it is your right side. I slept on the opposite side from the correct one but can't remember which is which...one side will help your body filter out toxins and the other side makes it harder.
Doesn't she still live in that trailer? Or has she graduated to a double wide? lol

I'm with you 50 and single..
I too have sworn off relationships and very happy being on my own. I cannot and will not go through it again. Both my ex's were two peas in a pod. Unfortunately, I seem to attract the same type of people. At 52, I am quite happy being alone but also having a great circle of friends. It far outweighs being unhappy, angry, always hoping things would get better when they never did.
I am not a single mom but...
I was a single woman when I bought my house. It is one of the things I regret the most right now.

BUT ONLY cause I wasn't settled down, no family, things came up and i wanted to move. I also bought it right before the market crashed 2.5 years ago, and now I am in an interest-only ARM on an upside down mortgage.

Now, considering this probably wont happen to you because the market has already crashed, there still might be room to wonder if it could fall more, depending on where you are looking to buy. My advice is if you are going to stay there and that is your home, your job, etc. etc. then buying is a great idea and when you mention you are responsible for anything that happens to the house... well that is the chance you take. Depends on what kind of home you buy, how old, and if there are HOA dues. I still dont know how I feel about homeowner's associations, even though I belong to one. However, they will be responsible for anything exteriorly wrong with my house, but for $80.00 a month. you know? so you definitely have to weigh your options.

My main advice would be DO NOT RUSH. that is what I did as I was young and excited to be a home owner at a young age, but now all that money i worked so hard for since the age of 15 is gone. I no longer have the 50K I put down on the house. That is something REALLY tough to deal with.

I love being a homeowner, but I hate that I bought when I did. you know? I know I am not the only one in that boat of course but it is still very very tough.

Good luck!!

well, I'm a single mom....
I've been divorced for nearly 8 years. I have taken care of my son completely on my own. I do not have a huge social circle, but I know what I like to do, and I concentrate on my son, but one day that child will (hopefully) grow up and be on his own and so it will be just me. I know what I like, do what I like, but sometimes, having that special someone would just, for me, make things better. But, now this is the odd part, having been married to the wrong man, I would be perfectly content to have a "significant other" without ever going to the "married" stage. I am fine and have been fine on my own the last 7 years, learned a lot about myself. Now at 35, I feel like I want someone in my life, but I dont necessarily have to be married. Sounds odd, and most of my friends are the opposite. But, I'm also one of those people that never had a lot of boyfriends, etc. I was not the girl in high school who had crushes on a lot of guys, I chose to date and not have a serious relationship in high school because I thought I was too young for that, haha. I've seen both ends of the spectrum, I've seen completely happy couples, my own mom and step-dad for example, if I was to ever get married again, I want a relationship like theirs. They are each other's best friends, and still so in love, but they also make a point of doing things separately because they are, after all, 2 separate people; and I've seen people in my life who are in their 60s and still perfectly content to be single.

I'm in the middle of that spectrum, haha, I would like someone to share in parts of my life, but I don't have to marry him if that never happens either. :)

I do know that I'm picky on friends, and I'm shy, and I don't date much, its just hard to date. I'm a single mom, I work from home, I live in a small town and have only been here 6 years, but only made 2 friends, well, people I would consider friends, I work midnights, sleep during the day, and spend time with my son in the evenings and with our family on the weekends, so I really don't even have time to date, so its a darn good thing I am happy in my life, haha, or I'd be a lonely mess. Sometimes it does get lonely, but in an affection way, not so much in a socializing way for me, I don't know how else to word that.
A single woman
What you're feeling is perfectly normal. Please do not rush into a relationship with any man at this point. Enjoy this time and spend it getting to know your children better and just spending time with them. Also get to know yourself and feel comfortable with who you are - develop some hobbies and interests. If you've spent the last 2 decades in this kind of relationship, you haven't had much time to spend on yourself. Soak in a hot tub every night if you want to.

In a sense, you've just cut a huge wart off your foot and of course it's going to feel strange and unfamiliar. It was the wart that was strange, now things are normal. It just feels strange because you aren't used to it.

Hope some of this makes sense. If you think about it, I bet you are actually less lonely now than when he was there. Some of the loneliest people I know are in marriages and relationships. Some of the happiest and most joy-filled people I know are on their own.

So happy to be single.
Sounds like he has a huge stick stuck somewhere uncomfortable. Big hugs for you!

It was not my attempt to single anyone out
is simply curiosity about some of the posts I've read. Has nothing to do with Huckabee, constitution, declaration of independence, etc.

As far as the nice day goes... right back at ya! :)
Question for single MTs
I am divorced now for awhile. I am finding that I have absolutely no interest in dating! I look at the online dating sights occasionally but no one attracts me. There seem to be slim pickens if you know what I mean. Anyway, I seem to be very happy on my own. My question is, do any of you feel the same? I guess I'm just at a point in my life where I'd rather stay single.
not one single fear

zero, zip, zilch, nada...

we are born with two fears:  the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises.  the rest we create or obtain on our own later in life.  me:  none, other than the two i was born with.

Single Mom Survivor here ... have
Looking back over my experience as an owner and as a renter, raising my children alone with limited resources:

Renting is easier and more cost effective for you than buying.

Pro's of renting:
1. Low deposit to get in the door.
2. Rent is usually reasonable and oftentimes contract won't go up if you are a good renter.
3. MAINTENANCE is the responsibility of the management -- you are not out for those costs.
4. You can leave with a 30-day notice.

Pro's of ownership:
1. You are building equity.
2. Tax breaks.
3. If financial crisis, it takes about 6 to 9 months to get to foreclosure so you do have some time to find another place.

Con's of renting:
1. May require a background and/or credit check.
2. Although evictions are subject to some jurisdiction (they must give you a 10-day notice), it can be quicker to evict you from a rental than from your own property.

Con's of ownership:
1. ALL maintenance and repairs are up to you. Can be very costly.
2. You cannot get out of this very easily - especially in this market.

Hope this helps.
