I forgot one more thing. Oatmeal binds the cholesterol in your stomach and keeps your body from absorbing it, so the logic would be that you could eat oatmeal cookies made with butter and eggs, or bread, pancakes, etc. You can also eat a bowl of oatmeal for a snack or preventatively if you knew that you were going out to eat later on in the day. It can't be instant oatmeal though, regular or steel cut.
