its crazy but it depends on what state you live in.

In Reply to: Child Protective Services needs a call about this situation. This has a big red warning - light all over it on many levels. Safety being #1.

here in Missouri there is no law stating that a kid has to be any certain age to be left home alone.  isnt that rediculous????crazy..makes no sence.  my nextdoor neighbors kids are home everyday after school for 3-5 hours...depending on what time the mom gets off work, they are 9-girl and 6-boy..she checked on the laws before telling me cuz she knew i would turn her in.  i just told her adn the kids if they ever needed anything, i am right next door...but i cant babysit.

I think a lot depends on the state you live in.....
Sometimes the houses are in really bad shape inside. Is it empty? Are you able to go look in the windows? Also, if the past owners are still in there, you may have to pay to have them evicted and, depending on the type of people they are, they may destroy the place before they move out. You need to check the laws in your state/county/municipality. Good luck!
It depends on the state you live in with regard to the requirements to get a CPA.

Once again, depends on the state.....

As already said it depends on the state,
although it strikes me as odd that Louisiana does not have a disclosure law regarding this.
Depends on the laws in your state...
... at least as far as I know, but in California, it's EASIER to get unemployment if you are terminated, rather than voluntarily leaving a job, because if you voluntarily leave, they want to know why, and you had better have some VERY good reasons, such as a well-documented case for a hostile work environment and all that.

In the meantime, you need to IMMEDIATELY document anything you've been told, such as the fact that you've been given a warning; if it was verbal, write down every single detail of it you can remember, and the date and time and by whom it was given. If it was written, take it (or a copy) home.

Other than that... is there any way you could sit down with somebody and ask for suggestions on how to improve your performance on the problem dictators? Are there sample transcriptions available to refer to? Are there other MTs who have less trouble than you on those dictators, whom you could ask for help with their phrasing and pronunciation peculiarities?

Do let us know what happens.... What a sorry state of affairs.
Depends on where you live and
the racial diversity around that community. I have no problem with it. Better a happy relationship then an abusive or dysfunctional one.
Depends on where you live I think.
I live in a state with deposits on bottles. The deposits add up VERY quickly. Used to live in a state that had no deposits, and no there was no money to be made for recycling. I did it as a child for cash but it fizzled out quickly as it was not worth the trouble. I say let them give it a go. They will probably decide to give it up on their own without you saying anything. :)

At any rate, I think it is very responsible of them to try to find ways of earning their own money and not just asking for handouts!
Depends where you live sm
If cold and dreary and can't get out, it will only add to your feelings of depression/isolation, etc. SAD (seasonal affective disorder) is common in winter. Stress on top of stress - plus this job  equals misery. I feel for you. If you can get out, please do and get some light on your face and bones, it does help. Enhance your self-esteem, ask for help, like you did, and take vitamins, eat properly, 3 meals plus 2 snacks - eat less but more often. Join the Oprah Live Your Best Life Program. It's free and wonderful advice, internet classes, etc. This week I have started the diet, downloaded Suze Orman's book free, attended a class tonight for 1-1/2 hours with Dr. Bob Green on diet which will be available tomorrow, along with his free diet book online for a month. I feel better already because I am putting myself on the priority list instead of everyone else first. Well, I am trying at least! Put yourself first, get some good advice, continue to ask for help and take care of YOU! Feel better, please.
Pretty sure it depends on where you live
some states by registered voters, others by driver's license, and then some have a combo list drawn from both sources.
Well, that depends on where you live I guess.

It depends where you live. In California, they
have beautiful mobile home parks with lots of amenities. The houses are so expensive there that many people are going to mobiles. In Texas, we have a lot of trailer park trash type places, but in Austin they are building really nice mobile home parks like in California. There aren't many of them though. A few other communities in other states are doing the same. They do depreciate, however. My husband used to sell them and many are crap. Check out ratings on the manufacturers.
It also depends in what climate you live ....nm..

Look into the state where you live.
Most now have online FAQ sections. Look for child custody or friend of the court with your state. I know in my state they mandate court appointed psychological evaluations. They do them as a mix of the family. (i.e. father-son, son only, mother-son, and so on.) I think this format would definitely be in your favor.
What state do you live in?....sm
I had no idea you could make up to that much. That must be just in the state where you live. I haven't seen anything around here like that, but I will keep my eyes open.
I live for state fairs!

I'll drive up to 2 hours away...I especially love the really small country fairs.  The more animals and ag displays, the bigger my smile.  I always don my overalls and boots too--gotta maximize the overall hayseed effect doncha know, plus you never know when you're gonna step in poo so might as well dress appropriately!   ;-)

Yuck for you! What state do you live in? sm
Crowns are a lot more expensive here in Georgia, especially around the Atlanta area, going rate is $1800. Crazy isn't it?
A few things . . . what state do you live in?

In Michigan, we have a mandatory reporting law.  That cop was wrong.  All law enforcement, medical, mental health, teacher, and clergy are mandated by law to report any signs of abuse they are aware of.  He should have helped you or gave some advice.

Get your kids out of the situation now.  This is abuse, both physical and mental.  There is also sexual abuse involved, in regards to his grabbing you and harrassing you.  The domestic violence shelter can help.  They will help you get a lawyer.  The court should make him move out of the house so you and the kids can live there until the divorce is final.  I don't know all the legalities of it, but get out now.

Is gas still high where you live? $2.45 to 2.90 in lower NY state. nm

Calling all you animal lovers - live and let live or intervene? - sm

I have a dilemma.  I am an animal lover and have something I cannot come to a conclusion about.  At a restaurant where I eat lunch every Friday with a friend of mine, I have noticed a young male kitty hanging around outside looking for food.  This past week he ran up to my friend and rubbed her legs and quietly meowed.  I purposely did not try to pet him because I knew I would get attached and ignored him.  Well, ever since then I find myself thinking about him and wanting to rescue him.  Meanwhile, I already have 4 inside cats (2 rescues, 2 Maine Coons) and hubby really does not want another cat in the house because a few years ago I promised we would  never have more than 4 (had up to 5 at one point previously).  I actually have a huge screened deck he could stay on indefinitely because I do not believe in letting cats run loose for their own safety.  I could provide plenty of food, a warm place to sleep, and veterinary care.  At some point I would even probably work him into our household, but I just cannot do it at the moment.  Just not sure I would be doing right by that kitty because I am sure he would be upset and confused for a good while as to where he was and what was going on, but is that better than being hungry and cold?  I know there are lots of animal lovers out there.  What does everyone think??

I'm a live-and-let-live person but had to draw the line

after I found HUGE holes in the walkway between my house and barn.  I thought they were just little mice stealing grain, but then I spotted one and it was a HONKIN RAT!  My poor olderly cat was out there with me at the time and saw it, and he hissed at it and ran away!

I asked for advice on what to do at a local agricultural board, because I have other animals and didn't want to use poison and conventional traps weren't working.  They advised putting a large pale of water out with some seeds floating in it, figuring the rats would go for the seeds and end up drowning.  That was a no-go because the water just froze up solid.  I wound up reluctantly going with Decon because I just can't have my house destroyed.  I haven't had seen any more rats or evidence of them stealing grain, so I'm guessing they have died.  The guy at the grain store promised me the rats would not die in the building and stink the joint up, rather they would crawl off and die outside.  I don't know if I believe that, as it is still winter here and decomposition would be holding off until it warms up.  We'll see, but at least the destruction has been halted.

Good luck and I too say have no mercy, because you just don't need them destroying hour house or causing a spark chewing wires and burnin' the place down.  It is war!

The State of Arizona is opting out. Anyone else's state opting out? NM
:
Make them live outside? This is so funny! Ours live outside, where they WANT to be. sm
Not all dogs want to be in "indoor" dogs, mind you. They have plenty of space to run around and play, fenced, and if they are brought in during bad weather they whine at the back door to go back out! So before you comment on outside dogs, you really need to get your facts straight. Seriously. Not all dogs are made or want to be inside all of the time.
Tell me if I am crazy

There is a man (very good looking I might add) who goes to our church.  He is newly single, having been divorced about 3 months.  I am single, having been divorced about 4 years.  We have known each other since I was about 14 or so. He is about 11 years older than me, which is not a problem (for me anyway) We have a lot in common, having both been single parents, both of us raising only 1 child, boys.  I REALLY like him.  He is smart, funny and just an all around good guy.  He is not perfect, I know that.  But he has had some ATROCIOUS luck with women.  Ditto me with guys.  He has come to church off and on, not steady but from all apperances he is back to stay now.

Question:  should I let myself like him?  I am kinda shy, and lord knows that I am not Miss Teen USA but I think I am a pretty nice person.  He is pretty flirty towards me (in a NICE way) but I am scared that I will run him off if I flirt back but at the same time, I don't want him to think I am a snob.

I have had him fix my computer (he is a computer whiz) and I baked him a cherry pie and that went well.  I need all the advice that I can get (prayer would not go amiss either!)

crazy... I would have given her the man I have for nothing
:)
crazy
That is crazy. Any realtor would have NEVER given them the keys until closing!! You have a good case against them. I would definitely call the office and complain to his boss. What happens if they don't show up at closing. You are out whatever they ripped up. WOW!
That's just crazy.
They will be adults some day and never forget how immature he was when they needed him to be a calm leader.

That's crazy!
I would write a letter to the bank and cancel my account with them. That is wrong that they cashed a voided check. Can't fault Wal-Mart for wanting their money, but the bank should be paying that $40, not you! Not saying its right, but the other place probably doesn't look at the mail-in checks very closely but just send them through to the bank. Bottom line, the bank should have caught that.
I think I'm going crazy.
I'm 48 and I was wondering when all that started too. I will get 2 periods, then skip 2, etc, etc. I am mean as a snake sometimes and then can't stop crying other times. I hate this. Sometimes I feel like my head is just going to explode. I've never taken any kind of mood-altering medications, they kind of scare me, same with HRT but geez am I going nuts?
I will pray for you and I would say no you are not crazy
but cautious - which you have to be. I would let him make all the moves and not be afraid to come off as 'snobby' - you have earned the right to be reserved - you are a single mom raising your son and that is your priority.  He will respect that - you want to give him a little time anyway - 3 months is not very far out from divorce.  Praying! :))
What do you think? I know this may sound crazy, but here goes. sm

I am in my mid 30s and currently having orthodontic treatment done. The doctor is so sweet (great looking too!).  I find him staring at me whenever I come in there, unusually so.  He's very, very attentive to me when he sees me.  Fast forward to yesterday. I paid all of treatment within 3 months using insurance and cash (close to 5,000) and I received a letter today. He told me that he was so impressed with the way I set goals to pay my treatment in such a short time.  Then he went on to say he was "looking forward to getting to know me better."

Okay. I was a little shocked. Is this normal? I've never had this happen before. It was a personal, hand written note.

Anyways, just wondering what your thoughts would be on this.  He is the kindest, gentlest doctor I've ever been around.  But, that's besides the point.

Just wanted to share this with you all. Not really looking for advice. Just thought it was weird.

Okay - this is going to sound crazy
But if you are an MT and this is MT business - you might consider contacting the AAMT - which is stationed in Modesto, Calif - even if you are not a member you'd think they could be halfway helpful.  I'm familiar with the Sacramento area and could tell you places to stay away from there in Stockton and Sacramento but not familiar with Modesto.  Sorry and best of luck!!
He would be totally crazy ...
If I kept him in for 2 to 3 months!! We have a large deck and in the one corner of it is a dog house and he has totally torn off the lattice in one whole section (to the dismay of my husband, to put it mildly) because he wants to be with my neighbors dogs.
If I cut this off, it will basically be the entire section of pad right in the middle of the paw which I think would take the brunt of his walking. It is on his back foot.
Eating ice like crazy!?

I'm in a phase of craving cold water and ice like crazy these days.  Anybody know what that means, besides perhaps anemia?  I was anemic a while back, but got that taken care of and don't see any reason I should be again.  I've been cutting back on sugar and dieting a little bit, wondering if that could be it?

Whatch'all think?

SNAP OUT OF IT???? That's crazy . .sm
The people who said that to you don't care about you, and have absolutely no compassion. I took a grieving class at a local hospital when my dad died years ago. It was the best thing I ever did. With a job and very, very young children, it was hard for me to take the time to grieve. Don't push it aside, you need to let the moment hit you and work through it. It's harder to grieve when you push it back. . . Check your local hospital, also, it was an awesome support group and helped tremendously. God Bless You. Don't let ANYONE tell you to snap out of it or get over it. You NEVER "GET OVER IT", you will always, always miss her.
LOL! And they call ME crazy!
You silly girl!
WOW. Yes what a crazy wedding
Glad you have been demoted to program passer outer. LOL. Butterflies and 65 and 68 years old. CRAZY. Keep us posted about he reception. I am sure that should be a hoot too.

Enjoy yourself. It is almost over. LOL.

BTW - I am going to a wedding Sept 1st. They are going to have a pig roast. How about that?? I am from NJ and never been to a wedding like that before. Should be very exciting. Can't wait.
Exactly why I never go to the crazy sales.

People go insane during the holiday shopping season.

Crazy idea...
In addition to your original idea, mention to your granddaughter that when a big girl goes poop on the potty she can have a Poopy Party. Then, have cupcakes and party hats on hand for the next time she does go on the potty. If you are creative, you could make up a song, etc. Doesn't have to be all out, but the idea of a party might get her attention and cooperation.

After the first time, you would not have to make such a big deal again, but maybe just offer a few Skittles M&Ms, or stickers, etc. to help reinforce the positive aspect of going on the potty.

Just a thought. Good luck.
How to drive them all crazy
I put random numbers and/or letters on the presents not to be revealed until Christmas morning, so no one knows whose is whose.  Gives me lots of chuckles year after year!
This may sound crazy sm

Sounds like he has a good heart but other problems. You could ask him if you could both go on an alcohol-free stay at the hotel? Most hotels have a pool, suana, etc., and since alcohol dulls your senses, etc., wouldn't it be nice to start the new year out sober and clean or clean and sober, whatever! If you drink as well, it may be nice for both of you to pour all the alcohol down the sink together forever. Not only will you two be happier, but what a gift to your children! Alcohol could be causing him to act peculiar. Alcoholism is an allergy of the body and a craving of the brain or obsession of the mind, in my estimation. There are so much better things in life! Just my humble opinion. You sound strong enough to carry out a plan and if it doesn't work, then take the next necessary step. Good luck!

PS: You could tell him that your marital relations will improve in the bedroom without alcohol, that's a fact as well. Sounds like a good guy gone wrong to me.

This may sound crazy sm
But when I am totally stressed, I make a grateful list. I realize that all I have is a lot more than others. I have been through a lot in life and came out the other side. If it were not for my faith that what doesn't kill me will make me stronger, I could not do it. It's the old, "I felt bad because I did not have shoes and then I met someone who did not have feet." Tomorrow is another day and things will look better, I sure hope so. You don't have to be a religious person, just believe that there is a power greater than yourself who will help you through all this. And be grateful to have "something" if not the greatest job in the world, at least it's a little money coming in. Some people can't get hired no matter where they try. Good luck to you. Feel better.
that's kinda crazy.
she has been gone for a long time. I wonder if she's going to come back to help Jack with this mess he has created. She really is good for his character when he goes into bad things. Wonder how old Abby will be.
I have been emailing you like crazy!

This may sound crazy and it's
What about chiropractic?  It might be worth a shot.  If he has done this for a while, maybe he has subluxations that are affecting the nerves.
This drives me crazy too.
Unless you put your purse in your trunk before you leave your house, what's the point? It's obvious what you are doing and that you don't plan to be back for a while when you do it in the parkinglot of a hospital, mall, etc. I think it would be just as easy to pick a lock on a trunk as anything else, not to mention for someone to approximate and come back in 7 or 8 hours and wait for you to come back and get you then.

I hope this lady is okay. It's such a terrible thing. They need to get whoever did this off the streets.
Crazy quilt

I was wondering if anyone had ever made a crazy quilt just by sewing old scrap material onto a sheet.  I inherited a sewing machine and tons of scrap material.  I also still have my children's old baby clothes I could use.  Mom said it comes out too heavy doing it that way.  I don't know if there is a special way to do it.  I don't know how to quilt.  I am afraid though If I get someone else to do it, they would charge me an arm and a leg.  Does anyone out there have any information on this? H and I could really use something this winter.  The old quilt I have on there has a hole in it.
