it might help to park in NJ (hoboken, weehawkin, etc) and take the PATH train across the river.  Stagger your hours so not traveling during rush hours (7-9/10 am and 4-7 pm).  Try googling address or mapquest.  Keep a notebook regarding transportation and location of companies.  The subway is ok but don't get lost.  If all fails, ask the subway token booth person or a cop.  NYC really is a friendly place if you let it be and have no set idea of how it should be.

Good luck to your boy.
