"earlier than child's predetermined regularly scheduled bedtime." Sounds like they are scheduling TV line ups, doesn't it? You can send the child to his/her room early, and may even require them to physically be on their bed, but cannot require them to go to sleep early, so you have to cover yourself by making them read a book or do some activity.
