They are a not-so-small U.S. Company who only hire U.S. MTs and does not do offshoring!!!!  They have different branches of the company that you apply to.  The account I applied for was out of the Maine office.  The recruiter was exceptionally nice.  She told me that for each job posted, they get literally hundreds of resumes/applications so list your experience in detail - type of OP notes, type of experience in specialties, ER, Discharge, Ortho testing, neuro testing, etc., and even the type of equipment you have.  The less questions they have to ask you - the better - so make sure it is all on your resume.  That is what they are looking for.  She interviews you, and perhaps others, and narrows it down before you go through a second phase of the interview process.  I was not hired but they were certainly nice enough to e mail me and let me know.  I was disappointed at the time but I do like the job I took elsehwere better than they one they were offering.  Sorry I can't tell you more because I did not get very far, but they were very nice and respectful.  I would apply there again.
Yep, I figure 0.01 is 1 cent, so 0.005 is 1/2 cent.
x
take a cent of their rate and a cent of your mom's rate. I'd do it to keep the account or the

You already charge a fairly low line rate, but I'd definitely cut it to keep the account.  JMO

Is 0.005 only 1/2 a cent?
bonus amt is 0.005, is this cheap or I am greedy.
1/2 cent=0.025.
0.005 is 5/1000th of a dollar.
yes .. 0.005 is 1/2 cent

my shift differential for asr is 1/2 cent from 6-11 and 1 cent from 11-7

when I calculate it .. i go from 0.048 to .053, which is 0.005 ..

stinks so bad ..

1 cent refund
that is absolutely unbelievable -- they are totally out of it!! i would definitely be calling and asking what were they thinking?
Would think that it SHOULD be 0.01 cent per word OR
s
I charge 1 cent less than some nationals...nm

9-cent line count
I just signed on as an IC at a local clinic getting 9 cpl base, up to 10.5 cpl. I don't get paid for spaces, just characters, and there are very few ESLs on the account. I think that you will get paid more as an IC, but you don't get your taxes taken out, so it kind of balances out.
So, at the 1 extra cent per line . . .
with making an extra $6000 per year, you are transcribing 50,000 lines per month?  Wow.  I'm impressed.
Just half-cent thoughts...
I know this is too long, but wanted to give you a few tips. Sounds like you're one of those employees of medical offices (and many, many types of offices) that isn't set up on clear job descriptions for the workers--and then stick to it. Not all practice managers really know how to run an office efficiently. You have lots of issues here, but just for me curiously, why on earth would you invest in your own equipment (unless you really wanted it anyway) and still be considered an "employee." Do you have other work where you can write off your expenses? In our city (and in many organizations, many MTSOs) there is a hospital that has home workers, but they bring the hospital equipment to the MT's home for them to use. That's how they get to tell you how and when to work. I've worked in offices most of my adult life where people grumble out of habit all the time. You may not be that kind of person, and you may be grumbling in vain or just burned out. It's sad but true that many offices don't have the luxury of being managed properly, nor does anyone have personal knowlege of knowing how to set up a bona fide transcription department. Maybe that's where you could make some changes. Make yourself a "department" not just an employee. Take the lead and define yourself. It's called intrapreneurship--you create your own little venture as an employee but see yourself yourself a "small business owner" in your own mind. You could make up a plan to present a better work option to your employers based on research and projected outcome that this change may benefit all involved. Personally, I don't think you'll get anywhere by taking the defensive line here (though you have set a precedent). However, agression and resistance won't work either. You have to "create" your spot and show how it will profit the greater good proactively. And if you're getting insurance benefits for this home/office pattern you are requested do to keep your job, lady, count your MT blessings. Also, I'll bet many MTs working at home probably wouldn't mind having to "go into the office" on some days. Sure beats the isolation and might make you feel more connected to the real world. Best of luck to you.
And you might earn another 1/2 to 1 cent more working
s
I believe it is about 4 cpl for either, give or take half a cent. nm

OMG - this company only CHARGES 1/cent a line. WTF?

What is this???/!!!!!!!!

.....quick, shoot them before they multiply!

I remember 5 cent pay phone calls. nm
:+
My pay went up 1 cent a line when I obtained my CMT credential.
x 26 pay periods a year.  Nothing to sneeze at and definitely worth the effort.
ONE CENT? That shows its not worth it ROFLMBO!!!

Is that half-cent worth selling out to an
organization that has been pro-active in sending our jobs to India? To me it isn't. The good of our entire industry is worth more to me than my own personal greed for those VERY FEW extra dollars. That's why I let my CMT expire.
Half of a cent! Wowee-zowee! Where do

I knew I should not have bought that roll of 37-cent stamps!
This is all my fault.
1200 lpd for me nm

I have an SX 1200 APC www.apc.com
Our power frequently goes off briefly when there's a storm nearby, even if it isn't storming here. The backup has been really helpful.
wow, i have never applied...
with a company that even questioned my background. ive probably seen conviction questions on a couple of applications, but i was never even asked about my background during an interview.

keep looking, keep applying; their out there.
i applied also
They did send me a response, however.  They said that the position had been filled but they would like to keep my resume on file for a future position.
Never applied; do not need JLG.
x
I saw the ad too and applied
I did not hear back from them, but I do feel like they were paying that because they were looking for someone for the three days only, although they may pay that for stats all the time and were just in a pinch with Thanksgiving coming up. My experience is that most companies do not pay extra for stats, but I am rarely asked to do them. I know that they exist though (as you obviously know too, what with having a friend who is actually living it).
How about 1 cent a line being cheap. That equals only $10. for 1000 lines which
is really not an incentive to work either. Why not make it more like time and a half, i.e., if you normally make 10 cents a line when you would get 15. They could even offer 1/4 pay incentive so you could make an extra $25 to work a holiday but the $50 would certainly make me think more about working a day when I usually wouldn't. Yes, it would cost the company more but I'm sure more people will be working that weekend for such an "incentive."
That's real smart, spend 30+ cents postage to pay somebody 1 cent
df
most MTs I know do about 1000-1200 lpd
x
It took me 2 weeks to get to 1200.
NM
1200 lines per day.

$32K/part time 6 months/full time 6 months
I have kept my child home with me half the year, but when pre-K started I began working full time. Helps to only have a main account and one backup account for the 2nd year now, so my abbreviation program rocks and rolls when I focus.
When I was job hunting, I applied
and was offered a job, declined.  Now I am so glad, I will not work for a company that wants to put MTs out of business in this country.  I would never, ever work for Spheris.
I applied 2 different times
The first time it took awhile and I finally gave up on them (around a year ago),but this time they didn't take long at all. I have been there only a couple weeks, but they seem to make the effort to give their current employees the work they want and try not to overhire. I know that some people on here have just been hired so they may be busy with training to. Hang in there!
Have you applied to National co's and getting
xx
ditto! I have applied
I have applied at hotels, and clerical jobs outside of MT work, because this is a dying profession. It's all turning into a joke now. Where are all the good jobs? I used to be at the top of my game and make great $$$$.

BEWARE OF THE SCAM MT COMPANIES! I had put in a lot of hours for one company!
Every job I applied to has. Tell them I dont

I too applied for an out of home (sm)
position as a unit clerk at the hospital.  Figured with 20 years in the medical field doing front office as well as transcription, I'd at least get an interview.  Nada.  Not sure if it's the at-home stigma or what.  Keep sending in applications and resumes.  That's what I'm doing.  Good luck.
I believe that this was applied to transcription
is so the record would be more "consistent" all the way through.
I applied for a job at a very well-known hospital. SM

The person that called me kept telling me I had to come in and take a typing test.  I kept telling her I was a CMT and she kept saying she understood that I had a certificate from an MT school.  This will never change.  Those that have no clue are the ones that are put in leadership positions.  And if you're lucky to have a cousin already in you may have a chance, otherwise forget it.

actually applied this week
took about two hours - testing includes Excel, Word, basic grammar, basic filing, and typing test. Got all fired up, they were going to fax my resume "right now" and I would hear back "tomorrow at the latest"...still waiting. Be prepared to give out a lot of information (SS number, at least 3 professional references, entire work history including any gaps) etc. I know I aced the Word/spelling/grammar tests (and I suck at Excel but told them that up front and the position did not require Excel), know I passed the criminal/background check, and yet I wait. Sigh. Good luck to you though; maybe you will score!
USATasp charges 10 cents per minute for voice & 1/2 cent per line
email to info@usatasp.com and we'll get back to you.
is this the person who makes 1 cent a line extra for $6000 a year?
how many lines a day and what do you normally make in a year because to reach an extra $6000 wouldn't you have to be typing way above average which is say 1200 a day for most of us, or 6000 lines a week.

encouraging someone to get their CMT based on $6000 a year extra, perhaps you could give more details because I have never worked for a company who would do that, not unless perhaps you were also a huge producer of lines.

Thank you...
It ought to be nice at $300-1200 a night....sm
We just went to Disney for vacation for a week and stayed at one of the All American resorts there - and the price package was 1/3 of the Polynesian.
typically 1000-1200 /d nm
x
What would you make in incentive doing 1200 lpd?

With MQ's new plan in January:   $0 incentive on 1200 lines/day.

Spheris:  1200 lines a day = $24 a week incentive.

What about where YOU work?!!

One oil exec made $1200 PER SECOND during Jun/Jul/Aug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That may be the AMERICAN way, but I'm steaming when there are people out there who can't get medicine, have no place to live, when America is paying disabled people pennies to live on in a month, and children don't have decent schools, teachers, or buildings to stay in.

And I'm not finished here!

The /act/ put on by our congressmen and women yesterday turned my stomach.  It was totally a PRODUCTION.........but I hope they don't think they fooled anybody.  Why did they even bother wasting my time and theirs.

The oil companies didn't even get a slap on the wrist.

I'm sick of off shore companies getting a safe haven to do their work and oil companies being allowed to suck what little dollars we have left in our billfolds OUT......while they are making $1200 A SECOND!!!!!! THAT IS PER SECOND people!.  That is obscene.  WE ARE AT WAR HERE......we are all making concessions......and our children are getting killed over there.

When is the insanity AGAINST the American worker going to end?

My minimum is around 1200/day which isn't that hard to get. -nm

Mine is 1200 too, and i think its hard.
i usually just barely get it by 6 hours... how long does it take you?
Need to type 1200 lines on new

I just started new job about a week ago.  I need to type 1200 lines/ day to reach my income goal.  How long does it usually take to reach this amount of lines?  I can't seem to find a comfortable routine.  I want to work nights but no luck with that.  I am straining too much to see the work because the eyes are just too tired by the end of the day and day time is full of interruptions.  Thought about splitting it up with 4 hours in the day and 4 hours at night.  Anyone heard of doing this? Any other suggestions?  I have an Expander but I haven't put all of the shortcuts in yet.

thanks for input.
