But don't you think that's part of the problem with America?
People are idolizing musicians, athletes and actors with no morals and/or who don't obey the law. A hero does extraordinary things.
But of course, only in North America for the most part.
Read up some more. They use this term WIDELY in Asia...go figure! Don't know about you but I'm a bit sick of the politically correct crap going on in this country. I will side with the first dictionary - that it is grammatically correct albeit politically incorrect, because like who cares? I sure don't. : D
Still unknown.
I don't think any specifics have been made public yet so we don't know if he means just computerized records or computerized records plus point and click record creation by the provider without doing any dictation.

I think it's quite possible that what he has in mind is what the VA has been doing for several years which is computerized records plus point and click.

Other than being put out of work, my biggest concern is privacy/access/security breaches/hackers/insurance company spies/etc.
unknown outsourcing issues
How can a small company be sure that an IC has a legitamate SS#, and how can we be sure that an IC does not outsource the work that we send them?
Previously unknown worm-like creatures made of
something like silicone. Supposedly the only match to this material has been made to some nanotechnology substance that is being used to destroy bacteria on meats, and soon to be used on cut fruits. Cooking kills them, but who cooks lunch meat? They are using it on cold cuts. The company making the technology won't say what big company is buying, either.

The term Morgellons is not new, but its use for this disease is new. This disease became known in I think 2004. That's pretty darn new.

And I should stress that I have not seen any worms or movement under my skin so far. I just have small nonhealing wounds (that look the same as a stage in Morgellons), and my MD is being evasive.

Unlisted number, caller ID, and block unknown callers.
I think it's *67 to block unknown callers and *69 to find out last unblocked caller.  There is another key combination to press when you want the phone company and/or police department to trace nuisance calls.  You can fight this.  Public edcuators have it rough.  First, no respect in the classroom, then these punk kids think they can mess with you at home.  Fight back.  Escalate it to police chief, mayor, and supervisor of the phone company if you're getting nowhere with the lowly peons.
Previously Unknown Prehistoric Species Discovered In Israel Cave
Researchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem have announced today the discovery of eight previously unknown, ancient animal species within "a new and unique underground ecosystem in a cave near Ramle, Israel.

In a press conference on the Mt. Scopus campus of the Hebrew University, the researchers said the discovery came about when a small opening was found, leading to a cave extending to a depth of 100 meters beneath the surface of a quarry in the vicinity of Ramle, between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The quarry is operated by cement manufacturer Nesher Industries.

The cave, which has been dubbed the Ayalon Cave, is "unique in the world", said Prof. Amos Frumkin of the Hebrew University Department of Geography. This is due mainly to its isolation from the outside world, since the cave's surface is situated under a layer of chalk that is impenetrable to water. The cave, with its branches, extends over some 2½ kilometers, making it Israel's second largest limestone cave. It is to remain closed to the public to permit further scientific research.

The invertebrate animals found in the cave – four seawater and freshwater crustaceans and four terrestial species – are related to but different from other, similar life forms known to scientists. The species have been sent to biological experts in both Israel and abroad for further analysis and dating. It is estimated that these species are millions of years old. Also found in the cave were bacteria that serve as the basic food source in the ecosystem.

The animals found there were all discovered live, except for a blind species of scorpion, although Dr. Dimentman is certain that live scorpions will be discovered in further explorations and also probably an animal or animals which feed on the scorpions.

The underground cave includes an underground lake, in which the crustaceans were found. The lake is part of the Yarkon-Taninim aquifer, one of Israel's two aquifers, yet is different in temperature and chemical composition from the main waters of the aquifer. The lake's temperature and salinity indicates that its source is deep underground.

Among the interesting features of the discoveries thus far in the cave is that two of the crustaceans are seawater species and two others are of a types found in fresh or brackish water.

This can provide insights into events occurring millions of years ago regarding the history of ancient bodies of water in the region.

Now, go to the link and see a pic of one of the little buggers!

The easy part is making the decision to leave, the hard part is
actually doing it.  Been in your shoes and it took me a year and a half to leave after I had made the decision to do so.  It was the best thing I have ever done for myself and my girls.  I had family and friends and a counselor telling me what needed to be done and I knew what needed to be done but until I had the courage on my own to do it I stayed.  One day, we had an argument and he spit in my face and that was the last straw for me.  Even though it is something that I will NEVER forget, that day is also a day I will never forget because it is the day that I took my kids and left.  I am a single mom of 2 and have been single and supporting us for 5 years now.  I have been healing ever since and still am to this day.  You can do this.  I know that if I hadn't have left and I would have stayed one of us would be dead by now or both.
I think America....
is getting tired of the political correctness gone amok.  While I'm  all for separation of church and state, as the original forefathers intended it to be, which is that the government shall not establish a religion and then force the citizens to BE that religion (as it was with the Church of England), I don't think they intended for us to be afraid to say Merry Christmas.  As much as some may not like  it, this country is overwhelmingly Judeochristian, and most Christian.  I'm sick and  tired of all the time, money, and energy spent on making sure a school calls the Christmas Holiday "Winter Break."

America
This is America. Last I checked we speak English here unless you are gifted enough to speak more than 1 language or you are a native of another country that does not speak English. If I went to France I would not expect them to know English, I would learn their language, French. This is America. We speak English as far as I know. If you are born here chances are you will learn English as your language unless your parents are immigrants then you might learn English and some other language. What language do they use in the schools? ENGLISH!!! I am not learning another language here in my own country. If I want to learn another language I will go to another country. Don't get me wrong I would not mind knowing another language but I get fustrated when people come here and think we should learn their language when in fact they need to learn English.
DTS America
I am thinking of possible employment with this company.  Has anyone ever worked for them or know anything about this company called DTS America from Tennessee?
DTS AMERICA

IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE WORKING FOR DTS, BRENTWOOD BRANCH?

DTS America
Anybody out there getting a hard time at the Brentwood Branch by a certain manager?  I have gone to management, but nobody listens.  Seems this company doesn't care how many experienced MTs they lose.  They seem to think we are "disposable".  Don't question a thing, your're job/life will only be made miserable.  I am leaving as soon as I find another company to work for.  Great accounts, lousy company, lousy management.  No communication with employees whatsoever.
MedTrans of America
Does anyone presently, or in the past, work for MedTrans of  America?
America's Got Talent
Anyone watch last night?  Who won?  We saw All That at Carolina Opry in Myrtle Beach and they were awesome!!  Just watched video on internet and they were GREAT last night.
America's Talent
Thanks.  I will have to watch tonight.  Granny is a HOOT also!!  For her age she is a spunky person with a great personality:)
Talk America
I live in North Carolina and cannot find Talk America in my area for $49.95.  Someone else also told me about them.  Where are you?
Professionalism in America...
What happened to professionalism in America?  Have I been at home in my pajamas too long?  Everywhere I go, every business, etc. I have come across people who are just so unprofessional looking.  Dropping my child off at school the other day, a delivery man got out of his truck looking sloppily dressed.  Uniform shirt was dirty, untucked with belly hanging out.  This is not seen only in men in delivery positions or blue collar workers.  It is seen everywhere.  Offices have gone to casual wear.  What happened to the crisp clean uniforms and nice dressed women in offices?  When I worked outside the house, even when we did have a "casual day" it still was somewhat professional looking (no athletic shoes).  Don't you think this contributes to laziness on the job?  Wouldn't you rather be served by someone clean looking and bright than not?  Do supervisers of these positions accept this look?
Only in North America

By the way...I worked a 12 hour shift today. I really don't need the correction on my spelling. I realize I hit the 'n' instead of the 'm'. I'm done now...this is dumb.
The one, the only, the woman who has done SO MUCH FOR AMERICA!!!!!

HILL-OH-REE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO ONE IN AMERICA SHOULD BE PAID BELOW

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.  No job is worth this wage.

When I was a new grad in 2005 I was offered 7 cents per line for every single company I was offered a position with and that was a good bit of companies, btw. That was employee status and that was IC position too. Even now with 1-2 years experience I get offers of 8.5-9 cents a line.

Now MTSOs are profiting off of slave labor. How can you sleep at night knowing that you are paying your MTs HALF of what they should be making?  I cannot wait til their doctors make it impossible for them to profit too.  Happy day.

All I can say is everyone has to start somewhere and just becuase you are a new grad from college doesnt mean you are paid half of what you should be paid.

PATHETIC.

I get making an MT prove themselves for a few weeks at a lower rate (until off of QA) and then up it to 6-7 cents.  If they aren't worth it.. DROP THEM.

My MTSO was so honest and fair.  She would NEVER EVER think of paying that crap.  We need more people like her.  Out for her employees and not herself.

You know, maybe it's just my PMS speaking today, but I plan on getting my own accounts and I will NEVER EVER treat my employees like crap and pay them like that.

For 2 weeks of full time work (which for us MTs just starting out is OVER 40 hours) you pay them (based on 12,000 lines a payperiod) 360 (.03) without taxes taken out?? When they should be making $720 (.06) on the low end of the totem pole?

Wow.  You guys are makin out!!

"fleecing of America"

Does anyone still do that "fleecing of America" segment (or whatever it was called)?  We are being fleeced!!!!!  But again, the other side which promotes offshoring will present a stronger side than us.  All we would get is emotional support from a minority of viewers, which doesn't last long.  We will be told, as I have, "No one is making you do this job.  If you don't like it, do something else."  The public has to realize how important this job is to THEIR well-being.  Now, they can be told that offshoring is saving them money and they will like that.

That's where our professionalism comes into play but the only way I can see to prove the need for our services is to have all other alternatives fail and have that make a major impact somehow to make people aware, especially the physicians, that we need qualified AMERICAN MTs for America's health records.  Odd thing is, greed gets one only so far.  Then it tends to backfire -- taxes, breach of confidentiality, etc.   Some of those "loopholes" may backfire someday.

ahh...the fleecing of america! sm
Unfortunately, I personally do not see any change to anything you have written and most especially with the current candidates running for our next president. They all talk change, but talk is cheap. They are all getting rich on our hard earned tax dollars and we are letting them. How do we affect a REAL change when there is really nobody with the backbone in today's politics to do that???
Lights of America

I just sent my hubby down to Walmart to pursue the sunlight lamp.  I think I am really gonna like it!!!!!   I am recommending it to my colleagues. Thanks for the post, MTs !!!!

Hey Barbie... Welcome to AMERICA.
.
He has stated that he hates America
There was an item in the Washington Times. When the story was picked up and he was questioned, he tried to claim he was misquoted, but the reporter who was interviewing him when he said it had the film to prove it. He hates America, so he lives in France, but he apparently doesn't hate our money because he still works here and is happy to take as much money as the Americans he hates are willing to throw at him. He's not getting a penny of my money.
Does DTS America treat their people well?

I was thinking of testing with DTS America in Nashville and just wondering what anyone knew about them.

Thanks

Regarding poverty in America... A little survey

Do you believe that:

A:  Poverty is mostly the result of poor choices in life, either by yourself or by your parents and grandparents before you, thereby setting up the vicious cycle.  Early parenthood, out-of-wedlock births, no father in the home, recycled boyfriends in and out of a home, lack of early childhood stimulation with books/toys, lack of routine and academic expectations, etc.

OR

B:  Poverty is societal.  Poor people have no choices in America and no real opportunity or ability to raise themselves out of poverty.  The way to end poverty is to increase social programs until people are not living in poverty anymore.  Poverty is societies fault and the government's fault and therefore theirs to fix.

its called corporate America

PC engineering, phone operators, telemarketers, anything you can telecommunicate is being offshored.  Its a very unbalanced economy right now.  Rich are richer, and there is less consumption as a whole by the middle class as we get poorer, notice how prices are rising?  Its more expensive to live here than anywhere and the wages are steadily dropping.  My mother had a great idea of collecting credit cards, since she gets a few of them a year, cashing out and moving to Mexico.

Insanity in politics in America
....I hear you. This insanity is not going to end until we, the American folks, the backbone of this country, BECOME MORE PROACTIVE. We have become a complacent society. We accept anything the government puts out there as the truth. We need to question everything, look and dig deep as to the motivation of our leaders. We are a stressed out society, have become more materialistic, tuned out, burned out and so we have no energy left to become more proactive in our government, OUR VOICE.

Look around what is happening in this country. Our leaders, especialy Bush, project an all American image, but how American can it be when we give attention more to providing jobs in third world countries than attention to the job situation in our own country? Why even Bush used Indian BPO services for his 2nd term campaign!! Did he not think of us Americans first? We outsource
everything with no intelligent guideline to assess the effects. Our country has stopped looking at long term and long range effects and has substituted short tem fixes which benefit powerful corporations. Think about it and do some research, the Bush dynasty has been built on oil. They are a powerful family and have had a long term relationship with the Bin Ladens and the Saudis. How objective can he and his administration be? Just think about this - since his popularity is at its worst, funny how all of a sudden the gas prices are dropping? ... And no I'm not a democrat, a liberal, just a concerned citizen. Our government has become all spin. It's all about the spin.
C*H*E*C*K in America! Eh? Don't like it? Go back to Canada!

Finals - America's Got Talent
I don't watch the show, but my daughter loves it. I believe that the results are tonight and they all just performed in the finale last night.
Good Morning America

They teach the people in the call centers in India that 35=10 - meaning that a 35 year old from the U.S. has the I.Q. equivalent of a 10-year-old Indian.  Indian tutors that teach American kids over the internet say that a 9th and 10th grader from the U.S. is the equivalent of a 7th grader from India.  South Africa and Bulgaria will be the wave of the future for outsourcing.  I am just horrified at all this.

Rural America wages
Last year interviewed for two transcription jobs. Neurology office $13.50, hospital $16.00. (the most I have ever been offered) I was offered the neurology position, but declined and the hospital job was given to someone with less experience, i.e. less $$$, they were hoping to add an addition MT on, but did not. I have over 15 years multispeciality office transcription experience including running my own business for 10+ years. I basically learned on the job, sort of fell into transcribing 20 years ago. I am also a Certified Medical Assistant (silly me, actually went to school for that), I have worked in physicians office over the past 20 years part-time doing medical assisting and transcribing and worked my way up to $11.50/hr. Unfortunately in the office MAs are being replaced by regular high-school graduates, $7.00 per hour, etc, and of course they can do transcription too.. ha ha. Since I live in a rural area the opportunities are limited and each position would require a lengthy commute and with high gas prices that is just crazy, so I decided to go employee with national. Since I get paid by production I can make more $$$ that way overall but the cpl rate is not nearly what it should be, you just keep working harder for the $$$. I would not recommend anyone get into this field by choice as technology will eventually whittle us away to almost nothing. If you want medical, go for the top.. doctor, RN, nurse practitioner, PA, etc. Decent wage and some respect, too.
America voted and you are SAFE!
Hooray for Taylor baby!!!!!
No, America was wrong with Fantasia too!
Nice comment about his *overweight* wife too...where do you get that from. She is not overweight. Maybe not supermodel thin, but who wants to be like that anyway??
If America's prosperity goes down the tubes,
we not only WON'T be able to help people in other countries, we'll also stop caring.

Healthcare in America is going down the tubes...
"This is a horrible thing that I read up there and I would like to see what they will try next, maybe have lawyers enter data instead of court reporters? Would you want a lawyer or doctor who wasted their education and time entering data? All of these methods are put forward by "middlemen" who see where they can entice the medical profession into "saving a buck." That savings might cost them plenty in the long haul when their documentation is in questionable shape. If they use it they better be ready for plenty of trouble and humiliation when their "second class documentation" is available for public review to say nothing of the compromise in patient care. "

I can't wait to see what it will be like once the conversion is complete. My boss loves to report in meetings how doctors who used to dictate thousands of lines are now doing less than 50 and how GREAT that is. Let's just see how those records will look and the quality of care patient's will recieve if a doctor is more busy on a laptop than focusing on the patient. What a joke.

Are you competing for Miss America?

Or possibly a person in America who can't...

you are what is wrong with america today..

i love the fact that we have very nice things (all paid for), money in the bank, don't have to write checks to companies every month for the things we have, have A+ credit, go where we want when we want and can sleep at night knowing when the credit crisis hits we won't be part of it. Now that is priceless! Good luck to ya, we are the ones who will bail you out of your financial bind one day! How nice that you owe so much money! Good night and good luck!

Note it says North America - sm
that does not necessarily mean in the United States, still could be Mexico or Canada.
CNN did a report called "exporting America"
quite some time back and listed companies who were confirmed at that time to be "exporting America" (either employing cheap overseas labor or sending American jobs overseas) - the list is 14 pages long (and that was some time ago) you wouldn't believe some of the names on it.

People have to get off their collective lazy asses, cellphones, out of their SUVs and tanning booths and start writing, calling, and voting OUT their elected officials.

Otherwise, we are all like the woman complaining about outsourcing while perusing the cheap plastic crap at Wal-Mart, naive at best, stupid and hypocritical at worst.
Its just corporate America in general, the higher ups

Thats why they hire minorities, they work cheap, do not complain, and work hard.  Americans are in trouble in regards to job stability because of how everything is computerized now.  I cannot get a live operator on the phone anymore and spend more time punching in the correct number code for my particular question.  Its so frustrating trying to understand someone with a thick heavy accent when you need instructions on how to do something immediately in regards to pc help.  Working for corporations sucks, its cold, unrewarding, and scary.  We all better find something to fall back on.  I hope to work for myself one of these days.
