so easy to make your own baked chicken and tastes better.
Just wash a whole chicken (clean inside, as well) Then salt inside.

Put it breast-side DOWN on small baking rack in shallow baking sheet (I line the pan with foil first), bake at 350 for 30 minute, then turn the bird over onto its back (drain the cavity when you turn it over, put those droppings in the bottom of the cookie sheet). Bake for another hour, turn over (and drain cavity again) for 15-30 minutes, and then turn back on its back for a little longer. I do put some foil over the bird for the first hour or so just to save splatters on the oven. With whole chicken at 69 cents a pound, you just cannot get an cheaper, easier meal than this.
My version of fried chicken is baked! I NEVER fry anything! YUCK!

My dog loves his brown rice and chicken!
He turns his nose up at most dog foods.  Found out he was actually eating the cat food.  For some reason the cats stopped attacking him when he got near their food.  A few weeks after I put the cat food up on a bench where he can't reach it, he had lost 5 lbs.  He'll eat the dog food now, but he loves his special rice and chicken once in a while.

That chicken looks good, too! Fried chicken is the one thing
I'm terrible at making. I just can't do it. Whenever we do have fried chicken maybe once a year, I buy the frozen boxed stuff or KFC.

I haven't thought about dinner yet. I'm making muffins today, spiced applesauce muffins, Tabor City yam bread muffins, and banana zucchini muffins. Going to send some to work with hubby and freeze the rest for breakfasts.
Hmmm - a can of Wasabi peas. :) nm

If allergic to nickel, then avoid green beans, broccoli, peas, etc.
I have that same allergy, had problems with the old metal zippers, snaps, etc.

This is a link for metal/nickel allergy

Then that is BAKED, not FRIED
if you were having baked chicken, I think you would have said that to begin with.
I give sweets and baked goods.....sm

I DO give baked goods/sweets about 4 times a year to my private MD offices.  However, I NEVER score an account that way.   I go in with myself and sell myself and not with any baked goods.  *lol*

African American, female, educated, no scandals.  Prime example of what education can do.  I like what Oprah does for other countries, but Oprah loves attention and she's first in line to say "look what I did."

I wish Colin Powell would run for President.  I'd vote for him.

turkey, rice and oatmeal
Don't know if it would help the gas problem, but when my dog got real old, he didn't want dog food, and I gave him turkey (vet said turkey very easy to digest) and rice, and he loved oatmeal.   I'm all for giving an old dog whatever makes him happy.

grilled NY strip, rice pilaf and a greek salad
I found this marvellous Greek salad dressing with feta cheese, made locally, called YiaYia's, and so I've been having lots of salads lately! :)  It's still warm enough here (low 80s) to BBQ outdoors, which I love, so I'll do that, save the Foreman grill for when it's cold!

rice, bakery outlets, loss leader at the grocery stores,

My favorite cheap meal is cooking chicken leg quarters in a crock pot with an 1/4 onion and tumeric. Serve them with rice and lentils.

Here is a list of cheap foods: PB&J, bacon (cook two 2 slices at  a time to put in eggs and beans), carrots, potatoes,  beans (lentils are the easiest to cook IMHO), pasta, rice (use oil instead of butter to save $), eggs, Totinos pizza, and frozen mixed veggies.

www.stretcher.com under groceries has some good ideas.

www.hillbillyhousewfie.com has good ideas too. She has a good list called Everyday Bargains.

Do you have a bakery outlet close by? They usually have great deals on bread and bakery junk food. For $4 you can walk away with a big bag of bread, bagles, cake, ect.

I'm a single mom so I can't do this but if you can go grocery shopping without children that will help. Most stores have a loss leader for meat on sale each week. I would buy that meat and make mix it with rice or ramen noodles for dinner.

Most churches have food pantries. If you call one that does not have one, ask where there is a food bank. Church secretaries get so many calls for help they are usually experts at what the organizations available.  Some Catholic Churches have St. Vincent DE Paul societies, they will either give you food or a gift card to a grocery store. Call the parish office and ask if the is one.  We recieve food stamps now but I have been to food banks.  They usually give canned food, pasta, and bread.

Poor child, I had the same; I couldn't swallow - even my saliva hurt going down.
As I recall, that lasted about 3-4 days.
