By the way, I had to pass a written and typing test to get a job

with a national and I must have passed both parts. I have been with the same company now for five years and they must be pleased with my work. I don't hear any complaints from them. I'm certainly glad that they were willing to give me a chance to prove my handiwork because it is really very pretty.

I can't pass a typing test, LOL. I am so
used to using an Expander that I can't even type a sentence without a mistake in it.
Yes, they do. If you can pass their test, you can work for them
We were all newbies at one time. There are companies that hire newbies. You just need to find them. Try the big nationals or small MTSOs with clinic notes. Or you can start out with Worker's Comp, physical therapy, chiropractors, vets, dentists or insurance, and then transition into full MT after you've finished your training and education. Try working on-site in a doctor's office or in a hospital. Once you've proved you can do the work, they'll often let you work at home. Be proactive instead of reactive.
    Tests, cannot pass typing
part and yet I have been tested (not under pressure) at 140 per minute. I failed another typing (yes, that’s right) test when I had my hands off the home keys and it all came out garbage. I do lots of lines per day in transcription but it is just me and my kitties here.
Jackie, if you can pass Spheris' test
    Good luck.
Not a medical typing test but this website can test you..

    It's called www.typingtest.com

Atleast it will give you an idea.. Sadly, I had to take it twice before I passed it LOL

You don't get certified taking a program. You test & pass your

    Typing as written

First of all, let me explain that I work not from dictation but a handwritten template that I fill in--typewritten "transcription" in turn.   The physician fills out the form while in the treatment room, circles correct choice from a list, etc.; sometimes the nurse does this.  I've been instructed for the third time to "type as written" when I've questioned meds or inconsistencies.  This goes against my training and principles (if that sounds sanctimonious, so be it)--when I can't reference things. I've had as much as half with questions and blanks where information was simply skipped. I don't have the patient charts to consult--just a stack of forms.  I have respect for the doctor professionally; her patients, many of whom have been coming to her for years, seem to love her.  Never had this experience before, either with transcription or as a secretary.  Most of the time my supervisors have been happy that I caught errors.  Please let me say these aren't nitpicky things--it is misspelled drugs like Demedex rather than Demadex!

The last time I said I wouldn't put my initials on the reports I questioned and was told I must put my initials "to tell who to return work to," even though I'm the only one doing transcription.  Furthermore, the office manager told me the doctor takes ultimate responsibility because it's her signature on the notes.  I'm going to comply while looking for other work, because this is one of many things we just don't see eye-to-eye on!  What do you all think?  How to deal with this?  TIA!

    Question about typing test

and how do I figure out words per minute with one.

Is there some website that can give this information to me. I have never done this before so trying to figure it it out. I was told to find something for her to type and then give her a 5 minute typing test for an H&P. Does that sound too long, too short or about average. All or any help would be appreciated.

    Typing test, Terms
They may give you a typing test or a medical terminology test.  Just brush up on your skills and know your stuff, just like any job.
    typing test preparation question
Will be applying at a local university hospital for a transcription job. Applied there last year, did not pass the typing test. Am determined to pass it this year - (requesting an ergonomic keyboard which I am used to, instead of testing on what they gave me). Question: They say one must pass a 10 minute typing test accurately transcribing 1437 characters. As I recall the transcription itself was not difficult, it was just using their keyboard that slowed me down. So besides requesting another one, how can I best practice for this? How can I determine how to judge that amount of characters for practice? Thanks for any advice. I am an experienced Transcriptionist with 5+ years.
Calculating errors in a typing test

Can someone tell me how to calculate the errors in a typing test per the lines they type and how fast they type. I need to learn how to do this as I may have to give some typing tests where I work and I am not sure how to go about this. Any help would be appreciated. Or if you can tell me where on the internet I can find this information, that also would work.

    Thanks

Oh please. I forgot the "are". If I had known this was a typing test instead of a post
You got the meaning anyway, which is why you got so sensitive and tried to change the subject.
It's a test in progress to measure what MTs know and what type of test to give for the SM
different levels of MTs.  It's over $90.  That's a lot of money to pay to someone who is giving these tests for research as to what type of testing should be done for the different levels of MT.  The AAMT will probably take the results and make a test that they can give in India or the Phillipines or some other foreign country.
tuning fork test: Is it about a hearing test? .See inside

Why would they do a microalbumin test when she has the period? A lot of test s will come out wrong

Neer's test is a shoulder impingement test

Don't think that has to do with the knee.  How about "bucket handle tear" of the knee?  Never heard of Neer having anything to do with the knee.

happens quite often i would test again or go see your GYN for blood test which is more accurate

Typing. This is NOT typing, it is transcribing. There is a BIG difference. sm
Transcription includes typing, but so much more.
RUN AWAY!!!! Do not pass go, do not buy their
lousy worthless software and footpedal. They are also known as TranScam. There are complaints against them with the BBB and ripoffreport.com. Even a national parenting magazine published an article about their scam methods.

You can download Express Scribe for free to play sound files at http://www.nch.com.au/scribe/
You can purchase a footpedal online for under $50.

As for my own experience with them, I am a college grad, took a medtrans course, and have worked in MT for 8 years now. I wanted to see if what everyone said was true, so I applied with TranScam. They even pulled it on me! My test file was perfect, but Alan said I needed mentoring so I could work for him for free after I purchased the $400 program. I don't think so, dearie. I don't know how that guy lives with himself. He must be one of those masochists who thinks he's so superior to women or something.
    Don't pass this up!

    Did I pass?

If you don't want the job, please pass it on to me! :) nm

Thanks Jay (V?) - will pass it on too...nm

    this too shall pass

Stop, take a breath and look around you.  Really think hard about what's important.  If you had to leave your home for a small and less expensive one, would it be THAT bad?  If a vehicle got repossessed, would it be the end of the world?  I have learned from age and experience just not to sweat it.  You can only do what you can do.

Appeal the medical bills that weren't covered.  Find out from the ambulance company why they were denied payment...been there, done that.

Everybody has problems...I got stiffed out of 2 checks by my prior company, went to work for another national, been there a month, still haven't been paid, though they keep telling me it was mailed.  No pay now for nearly 3 months.  If they turn the cable off, big deal, I'll listen to the radio.  It gave me a good opportunity to clean out the fridge since there's nothing in it!!  Worry only about your health and your husband's health, stress can make you ill....and it DOES.

or a DAY AT THE SPA pass.....nm

    Please read and pass on...

I received this via e-mail...so you know how things get started on the Internet, but if it's true, I won't be buying Pepsi anytime soon..

Don't buy Pepsi in the new can. Pepsi has a new "patriotic" can
coming out with pictures of the Empire State Building, and the
    Pledge of Allegiance on them.

However, Pepsi left out two little words on the pledge,

    "Under God."
Pepsi said they didn't want to offend anyone.

    In that case, we don't
want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office, either!

So if we don't buy any Pepsi product, they will not be offended
when they don't receive our money that has the words

"In God We Trust" on it.

I will pass this along to my hubby. He's always looking for new...
    investment opportunities.

    Very thoughtful of you! Thanks!
Maybe you could pass out fliers and
give your number or e-mail address, and just see what kind of response you get and go from there with setting up a meeting time. Have the first meeting at your house.
What are you smokin'? Pass it over here! :)

Please pass on the name of the company you went with s/m

You do not currently use ExText at all. What company using ExText did you leave?  TT ?

What platform are you using now. Would you mind sharing this with us.

Yep, you get the free pass, right?
Because everyone there knows your names? Bigspenders!! I knew you said were going back soon and that is what we are doing, probably in August sometime. Hubs likes to wait until it gets around 110 and he is happy. Ugh for me! I took my kids when they were younger to loads of places so now my time and even if I am up in years don’t care, get assistance at the airport if I need and still go on my merry way. After I get these bills out of the way, my intention is going at least twice a year for myself- hubs can wait until that 1 trip a year to Las Vegas. Never stayed at Harrahs- saw the show there, wonderful. Wish they had the really big stars in LV like they used to - when I got to where I could afford, Elvis, Frank and the likes gone. Might go and see George Carlin, have always liked him and his wraped sense of humor. Again, hubs will be at the Rio with the all you can eat seafood buffet!
If you passed the CMT before, I'm sure you can pass it again... (sm)
especially since you have an additional 7 years of experience. Someone told me they make you listen to the dictation snippets without the use of a foot pedal. Really...that is funny. What MT would work without a foot pedal? Unless of course they were a double amputee. Sorry I'm so wordy tonight. I just got done with my shift and am a bit punch drunk at 3 am.

Anyway, the RMT is just for new graduates to test their basic skills.

Good luck with your CMT recert. I have my 2 years at the end of the month and am thinking about taking it myself.

    CMT pass score

Can anyone tell me what is the score required to pass the CMT exam?

Does that new job description pass some of your duties to others so
you can do the transcription? If not, I guess I'd have to prove to them it can't be done in the same amount of time and look for another job while I'm doing that. After all, you'll still have to look for another job to supplement the lost income at home, right? If they're not passing some of your duties on to others, their request is out of line and completely sets you up for failure. Who needs that kind of pressure in their life?

Use the pass feature to move sm
past questions that are stumping you for the moment and you will get them again after you've finished the set of questions.  Get a good night's sleep the night before, eat a good breakfast the morning of if you can.  Know your BOS and general medical terminology and you will do fine.
Some people would just rather pass blame and complain

which is FIND ANOTHER CAREER, PEOPLE! This one is going down the toilet! It's not just outsourcing - it's voice recognition too! This profession is going bubbye and all you can do is worry that Punjab knows you have a sore throat!

That's not the problem at hand here! Learn to do something else before you're standing in the unemployment line hoping Seven Eleven is hiring!

I will pass on a TagAlong by Keytronic at price...
I too was looking for a soft touch keyboard and someone on this board recommended the TagAlong by KeyTronic. I bought it and it IS a very light touch. However, I already have a Microsoft Natural which is just as light... I paid $30 for it and will send it to you for $25 and free shipping. just let me know if you are interested.
You really lose a lot of credibility when you let so much time pass -
