Petition to keep medical records from going overseas!
If you have concerns about losing your job to offshore transcription companies, please sign this petition, http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/medrecords.  Ask your friends and family to sign it if they have concerns about their private information being sent overseas.  If they don't want their medical records sent offshore for transcription, ask them to sign it too.  Its going to all of the big-wigs in DC, and the sooner the better.  If we all stand up together, we can fight offshoring in our industry (some?), save our jobs, and protect our private information!  http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/medrecords
Didn't California pass a law that their health records
nm
okay, york hospital said they had delivery records, but no prenatal records. sm
they had no idea who she practiced with or anything like that and of course SIL doesn't know any name other than Freundel. i am also a midwife besides being an MT and in order for me to take her given her bicornuate uterus, i have to have her records. i guess delivery records is better than nothing, LOL, but i have to have her prenatal records. i wonder if there is a clinic there or something that med students rotate through. i couldn't even find ms. freundel on AMA, but she may not be through with her training yet either and that is probably why.
patient records and prisoner records
Does anybody know if our USA prison system is keeping prisoner records in the good old USA, or are those records offshore outsourced too? I am just curious because it seems to me that law enforcement in general does not offshore records, and I was wondering about prisoner records? If anybody knows, please post. Thanks in advance.
Petition
Thank you for starting this! I have been thinking of doing the same, but did not know how to go about it. You are terrific! I signed it and sent the link to everyone I could think of. This is awesome. Let us keep our fingers crossed (not while typing) that it works!
RE: Petition

I signed the petition because I know firsthand how outsourcing has affected my job.  I have lost over 5 accounts and losing my last one due to India.  I have just been offered a position to go back in my field of billing that I did 12 years prior to the four I have done in transcription.  I am not at all eager to go back into the office, but I have no choice.  This field was wonderful four years ago with so much work that my head spin, but now there is nothing all because of Nationals and outsourcing because they- DR- saw a cheap way out thinking that this was better.  In fact, from what I hear, it is worse with all the editing.  Such a shame this field has gone to the DOGS!!

Maybe we can get a petition going here too? nm

The petition may be more about...

her medical info being leaked to gossip papers.  A question was raised about this on the Gab Board under 'Question about med records, privacy and the law"  and explains the issue in a little more detail.

please sign this petition...

I received this from my sister, please pass it on. It is very important. It may not be LEGAL, but it is important... just click on the link, then click on the sign petition...let's make our voices heard on this issue...please also pass it on...

Mastectomy Bill in Congress:
It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important...please take
the time and do it really quick!

Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill - Important legislation for all
women.

Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever
a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those
times. If you are receiving this it's because I think you will take the
30 seconds to go and vote on this issue and send it on to others you know
who will do the same.

There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which
will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital
stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the
"drive-through mastectomy" where women are forced to go home hours after
surgery against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia
and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a
petition drive to show your support. Last year over half the House
signed on.

PLEASE!! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below. You
need not give more than your name and zip code number.

Regarding Petition Post

I wrote to an official in office, a few days ago, about out-sourcing.  Trust me there are many concerned people who do not know about personal information going off United States soil.  Anyway, here is the response I received back just today.  MTs, we have to stick together and stay strong on this one!  There may be hope yet.

Greetings,  Thanks for taking the time to contact me regarding your concerns about out-sourcing medical records beyond our country's borders.  I appreciate you bringing this important issue to my attention.  I will forward your very valid concerns for consideration. We have a responsibility to protect personal information and medical records.  So many loopholes!!!!!  Thank you again and have a Happy and Holy Easter Season.  Mauree G.

She also sent me a second E-mail asking that we keep this topic alive in our field.  We can do this.  Yes we can!  Write to your state representatives.  Trust me they don't know what is going on, but they do listen.  I pointed out that if we work from home in the U.S. that we also save our earth.  We are not using gas to travel to other jobs, ect.  There are many, many valid issues here.  Just take a few minutes and type out a quick note to your representatives.

Petition Post
I agree with all you have said and I do value your opinion. I just thought I would give it a shot. Maybe if enough of us stand up and shout someone with the right amount of $$$$ will hear us. I have also spoken with an attorney who knows others with $$$$ who promised to spread the word. I just cannot sit by and do nothing. I need to know that I gave it my best shot. Wish some big media company would pick up our story and carry on with this fight. I was wondering if there are any New York MTs here? The wife of an official running seems to have great concerns in regards to healthcare issues. I think this would make a great topic for debate in the upcoming elections.
Also sign this petition and have your
family & friends sign it as well. It offers you the option of sending it to your representatives and senators too:

One suggestion for those signing the petition - (sm)
I just went to it to see how many signatures there are. There are a LOT. The only problem I see is all the "Annonymous" signatures. That makes the petition less powerful, and if I were the one receiving it, I would have to wonder just how many times a single person could sign it as "Annonymous". So show some chutzpah, people! A lightning bolt is not going to come out of the sky and strike you down simply for signing your name to a petition. This is America, remember? Please use your NAMES, not a cop-out.

We should start a petition, sign it, and send it to AAMT, and all other associations

RUN AWAY!!!! Do not pass go, do not buy their
lousy worthless software and footpedal. They are also known as TranScam. There are complaints against them with the BBB and ripoffreport.com. Even a national parenting magazine published an article about their scam methods.

You can download Express Scribe for free to play sound files at http://www.nch.com.au/scribe/
You can purchase a footpedal online for under $50.

As for my own experience with them, I am a college grad, took a medtrans course, and have worked in MT for 8 years now. I wanted to see if what everyone said was true, so I applied with TranScam. They even pulled it on me! My test file was perfect, but Alan said I needed mentoring so I could work for him for free after I purchased the $400 program. I don't think so, dearie. I don't know how that guy lives with himself. He must be one of those masochists who thinks he's so superior to women or something.
Don't pass this up!
nm
Did I pass?

If you don't want the job, please pass it on to me! :) nm
s
Thanks Jay (V?) - will pass it on too...nm

this too shall pass

Stop, take a breath and look around you.  Really think hard about what's important.  If you had to leave your home for a small and less expensive one, would it be THAT bad?  If a vehicle got repossessed, would it be the end of the world?  I have learned from age and experience just not to sweat it.  You can only do what you can do.

Appeal the medical bills that weren't covered.  Find out from the ambulance company why they were denied payment...been there, done that.

Everybody has problems...I got stiffed out of 2 checks by my prior company, went to work for another national, been there a month, still haven't been paid, though they keep telling me it was mailed.  No pay now for nearly 3 months.  If they turn the cable off, big deal, I'll listen to the radio.  It gave me a good opportunity to clean out the fridge since there's nothing in it!!  Worry only about your health and your husband's health, stress can make you ill....and it DOES.

or a DAY AT THE SPA pass.....nm

I will pass that one along to her, thanks!...nm

Did you pass? nm

.

That is so funny.... I must pass it on
nm
Please read and pass on...

I received this via e-mail...so you know how things get started on the Internet, but if it's true, I won't be buying Pepsi anytime soon..

Don't buy Pepsi in the new can. Pepsi has a new "patriotic" can
coming out with pictures of the Empire State Building, and the
Pledge of Allegiance on them.

However, Pepsi left out two little words on the pledge,

"Under God."
Pepsi said they didn't want to offend anyone.

In that case, we don't
want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office, either!

So if we don't buy any Pepsi product, they will not be offended
when they don't receive our money that has the words

"In God We Trust" on it.

I will pass this along to my hubby. He's always looking for new...
investment opportunities.

Very thoughtful of you! Thanks!
Maybe you could pass out fliers and
give your number or e-mail address, and just see what kind of response you get and go from there with setting up a meeting time. Have the first meeting at your house.
What are you smokin'? Pass it over here! :)

Please pass on the name of the company you went with s/m

You do not currently use ExText at all. What company using ExText did you leave?  TT ?

What platform are you using now. Would you mind sharing this with us.

Yep, you get the free pass, right?
Because everyone there knows your names? Bigspenders!! I knew you said were going back soon and that is what we are doing, probably in August sometime. Hubs likes to wait until it gets around 110 and he is happy. Ugh for me! I took my kids when they were younger to loads of places so now my time and even if I am up in years don’t care, get assistance at the airport if I need and still go on my merry way. After I get these bills out of the way, my intention is going at least twice a year for myself- hubs can wait until that 1 trip a year to Las Vegas. Never stayed at Harrahs- saw the show there, wonderful. Wish they had the really big stars in LV like they used to - when I got to where I could afford, Elvis, Frank and the likes gone. Might go and see George Carlin, have always liked him and his wraped sense of humor. Again, hubs will be at the Rio with the all you can eat seafood buffet!
If you passed the CMT before, I'm sure you can pass it again... (sm)
especially since you have an additional 7 years of experience. Someone told me they make you listen to the dictation snippets without the use of a foot pedal. Really...that is funny. What MT would work without a foot pedal? Unless of course they were a double amputee. Sorry I'm so wordy tonight. I just got done with my shift and am a bit punch drunk at 3 am.

Anyway, the RMT is just for new graduates to test their basic skills.

Good luck with your CMT recert. I have my 2 years at the end of the month and am thinking about taking it myself.

CMT pass score

Can anyone tell me what is the score required to pass the CMT exam?

Thank you, I will pass along your kind words to him.
Thank you for taking the time to write back. It is really helpful and I appreciate your kind words.  Thank you for the prayers!  I will pass along your kind words to him.  Bless you and have a great day.
I can't pass a typing test, LOL. I am so
used to using an Expander that I can't even type a sentence without a mistake in it.
Tell him there is only ONE that is qualified to pass judgment
on you, and he's not the ONE.

OUCH!!!! think I'll pass on the....nm

Tests, cannot pass typing
part and yet I have been tested (not under pressure) at 140 per minute. I failed another typing (yes, that’s right) test when I had my hands off the home keys and it all came out garbage. I do lots of lines per day in transcription but it is just me and my kitties here.
Yes, they do. If you can pass their test, you can work for them
We were all newbies at one time. There are companies that hire newbies. You just need to find them. Try the big nationals or small MTSOs with clinic notes. Or you can start out with Worker's Comp, physical therapy, chiropractors, vets, dentists or insurance, and then transition into full MT after you've finished your training and education. Try working on-site in a doctor's office or in a hospital. Once you've proved you can do the work, they'll often let you work at home. Be proactive instead of reactive.
it could be worse, pass the napkins

A couple of days ago I typed "an alert, robust meal."  Sure glad I proofread.

Does that new job description pass some of your duties to others so
you can do the transcription? If not, I guess I'd have to prove to them it can't be done in the same amount of time and look for another job while I'm doing that. After all, you'll still have to look for another job to supplement the lost income at home, right? If they're not passing some of your duties on to others, their request is out of line and completely sets you up for failure. Who needs that kind of pressure in their life?

Use the pass feature to move sm
past questions that are stumping you for the moment and you will get them again after you've finished the set of questions.  Get a good night's sleep the night before, eat a good breakfast the morning of if you can.  Know your BOS and general medical terminology and you will do fine.
Some people would just rather pass blame and complain

which is FIND ANOTHER CAREER, PEOPLE! This one is going down the toilet! It's not just outsourcing - it's voice recognition too! This profession is going bubbye and all you can do is worry that Punjab knows you have a sore throat!

That's not the problem at hand here! Learn to do something else before you're standing in the unemployment line hoping Seven Eleven is hiring!

By the way, I had to pass a written and typing test to get a job
with a national and I must have passed both parts. I have been with the same company now for five years and they must be pleased with my work. I don't hear any complaints from them. I'm certainly glad that they were willing to give me a chance to prove my handiwork because it is really very pretty.
Jackie, if you can pass Spheris' test
Good luck.
I will pass on a TagAlong by Keytronic at price...
I too was looking for a soft touch keyboard and someone on this board recommended the TagAlong by KeyTronic. I bought it and it IS a very light touch. However, I already have a Microsoft Natural which is just as light... I paid $30 for it and will send it to you for $25 and free shipping. just let me know if you are interested.
You really lose a lot of credibility when you let so much time pass -
Not jumping down your throat- those are just the facts. I would try to let it go...
