 I now need to start using Word2007.  I would like to know if anyone out there knows how to build a macro in word2007?  I could do this in word97, but cant find the same commands to do my macro in 2007?

...this is my 2nd year transcribing.  I am really going to try to pick up the pace and the money in 2008 and am looking into getting my own accounts.  If I don't do something I will have to get another job in addition to transcription. I worked for a doctor's office when I first started out making $14.00/hour, which in hindsight was pretty good for a beginner.  I guess it just takes some people longer to get in gear.  Things are really clicking for me now, and I can now fly through dictators that I used to find extremely difficult, so there's a ray of hope!  I have never made more than $15,000 per year my entire life, and I've been working since I was 14 years old - it's time darn it!

there is not much difference between that and 2006.  the big difference between 05 and 06 was the search function.  06 would not let you search starting with an asterisk for a wildcard.  07 is the same.  but i just tried searching for part of a word without a wildcard and it brought up words that had that part in the middle.  so it seems you do not need the asterisk at the beginning of a search.

to be honest, i rarely use my electronic references.  i mostly use the net and sometimes will double check a finding with an electronic ref. 

i update my references on CD for the tax credit.  and as a backup.

I have always used Stedman's QL electronic drug search reference material.  I loaded my 2007 and discovered that they have built in something called a Launch Ready Reference Bookshelf  that completely changes the way the drug reference works now.  One thing that is missing is the fuzzy search, which I have always loved and used tremendously.  I called Tech Support at Lippincott and at Stedman's and they both tell me that it is no longer part of the program and this new Bookshelf is going to be linked to all of their electronic products -- hence no fuzzy search.  So, my question is, what is everyone else using.  I have the Saunder's Pharmaceutical Word Book 2007 and I hate it as well, it takes too long to load and uses too much RAM to leave loaded. 

Hope someone else has found an answer. 

If I buy Word 2007, can I put it on more than one computer in my house or is the license restricted to just one computer?  Thanks for sharing if you know the answer.

I updated to Word 2007 - I took the time to watch the learning videos and was able to create new macros and boilerplate very nicely.

But I have lost all my add-in word books and dictionaries that were in my tool bar. Does anyone know how to get them back?

I just tried using a wildcard search starting with *...and it would not let me.  It will only let me start with a letter, then add the wildcards.  Hope that helps!

I HATE IT!! It is so NOT user friendly!  When you open it, it takes up your entire screen, and the wildcard search feature is crap, in my opinion.  Luckily, I didn't have to pay too much for it (got it on a discount through my MTSO), so I ordered the QLEDB 2007 version (updating my 2005 version).  Unfortunately, it's backordered.  but when it gets here, I'm taking the D&D one off my computer.... that's how much I hate it! lol 

Cheaper is not always better. I'd stay away from the D&D version until they make it more user friendly.

I have a client wanting me to work in 2007.  I have a nice macro set up to move from field to field in all my documents by using the alt & J key to find @@.  This was built in word 1997. I have spent hours trying to figure this out in 2007, but cant do it.  The steps are nowhere near the same.  I tried following what they said and it does the opposite. Instead of hitting alt & J to go to the @@ in my documents, it now puts in the @@ instead.  HELP PLEASE.  I really like this new account, but would be lost without my alt & J to move through the documents.

Is there anyone out there that knows how to build a macro in 2007 with the same steps as in 1997?

When i did this i opened the docuement, found the @@ and then would go from there.  I dont seem to find these same options in 2007.

When you open your Word document, there should be an option in the toolbar above that says "Developer." Enter Alt F8 to view your macros, but I think you have to manually hit the Record Macro to enter new macros.

p.s. I prefer the previous Word version over this "new" one.

I lost my Stedman's and all of my auto corrects, but everything else seemed to be alright :)

I had to reinstall Stedman's and thank goodness I backed everything up so I had my auto corrects!!

I've used abacus 2.1 for years. Now I have Vista with Word '07 and I was told that 2.1 and 3.0 would work, but either would be hard to configure. I'm not sure what that really means and would like to hear from anyone who is using it about problems or advice.

I sure hope someone can help me here.  I have recently started using Word 2007 and am absolutely lost!  I finally figured out how to create a macro....but now cannot figure how how to call up that macro when I need it.  does this make sense???  example, ddd stands for degenerative disc disease..when I type "ddd"  do I hit a function key, just the tab key, CTL + function key?????  can't figure this out.  please help me!

I had to do recovery on my computer and I added a newer Microsoft Office.  This is MUCH different than my old version so I wanted to see if anyone can help me out.  On old version if I used AutoText for saving smaller things after typing a couple of letters it would pop up with the info that I wanted.  I can't figure out if this new version does that or not.  From what I have read I can't find that it does, but if anyone has any information that it does still do this it would be greatly appreciated!

and fortunately there is no conflict with either at the company I work for.  I know how you feel though; knowing what I know now I would not have "upgraded" from XP or Word 2003 when I got my new computer.  Good luck.
