Ilove my Goldtouch -- you can make it a "'weird shaped" or not so weird shaped sm
as you want.   You can split it apart and angle it however you like and even tent it up too.  It definitely has helped me a LOT!  Before that, I used the Microsoft Natural and loved it, but this is even better.  :-)
Case of Vanessa Satterwhite
Hello. This is SEAN Meditrans responding to the defamatory post by Vanessa Satterwhite. She worked for us for a short period of time and was progressing well with her work when she suddenly quit on us and did not turn in the work she committed to delivering. She gave us notice only 2 hours before final submission to the client, sending us the following e-mail message:

"I regret to inform that I can no longer work for SMT because of personal issues that need my immediate attention. I am sorry for the lack of notice, but it could not be avoided. I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Thank you,
Vanessa Satterwhite"

I called her phone, sent her a note, sent messages on her IM to see if she was going to submit the work she COMMITTED to delivering that morning. I did not get the courtesy of a reply. I had to scramble and find an MT to do the work she did not do. Her unprofessional action caused us to lose business from the client which up to this date we have not recovered.

The next time I hear from her is a week later, in the form of an e-mail invoice. No apology, no explanation, not even a hello. Before paying her, I wanted to audit her invoice to make sure she was not charging me for work she did not deliver. As I was working to get a replacement for her and also managing the relationship with my client, this item was low on my to do list.

The next I hear from her is a phone call, with demands to be paid. I said I'll get to it when I can, saying I may send it that weekend. Unfortunately, I was unable to get it done and she called back and was not pleased and got somewhat hysterical over the phone. She later sent me an email:

"Just so you know, someone very close to me passed away suddenly, and I couldn't even get out of bed during the time that I quit working for you. You are a very evil person to play these types of games with someone who is suffering from the loss of a loved one. You have no idea what I am going through, but you go out of your way to inflict more pain and have the nerve to laugh when I call to discuss this with you. God will punish you for the evil way you have treated me. I hope God brings the kind of pain that I am feeling into your life so that maybe you can begin to understand it. The time for being nice is over now. I will make sure the word about your company gets around so that others do not have to deal with you also.

I was upfront and honest with you and never did anything to deserve this type of treatment. I do intend to sue you for these unpaid invoices and am sorry that it had to come to this. Trust me, you and your business will suffer because I am a child of God, and obviously you are not.

Good luck to you."

To which I replied:

"First of all, you were not upfront and honest with us when you quit. I have your e-mail that just gave "personal issues that needs my immediate attention" and that was it. You did not even have the courtesy to reply to my phone call that morning or the email I sent that day to you. The next thing I heard from you is a demand to be paid. No apology for leaving us out hanging that morning. Do you think we are so callous that we would not understand if you had a death in the family that day? If you were honest and upfront with us, instead of mysterious "personal issues" that you gave and replied to our frantic questions that day, we would have happily diverted the work you committed to doing and kept you on our service. But instead, you were very unprofessional in ignoring our pleas for information. You say you could not even get out of bed, yet you had the ability to write us an email. Was it so hard to say that you had a death in the family?

Go ahead and call my client, they know about you, about how you did not keep your committment to perform the work that you were assigned. They will not listen to your criticisms of us because they know we KEEP OUR COMMITTMENTS and if we can't, we are professional and courteous enough to give them the reasons why.

I still intend to pay you because like I said, our company keeps our committments. The reasons I gave you for the delay are true, paying you is low on my to do list right now. I am busy trying to hire a replacement for you and recover the business lost by your abrupt departure. We had to cut the minutes we are taking from the client because you left us out hanging. You said you'll see me in court? I can countersue you for breach of contract that has cost and is still costing our business money from lost work.

You will defame our company in the MT boards? I can do that too. I have your email resignation with no explanation and my email to you asking for your reasons to which you did not reply. We'll see if any company will take a chance on you again. What all transcription customers need is reliability and dependability and, although you have a valid reason for missing your committment that day, the way you left your client hanging without explanation is the height of unprofessionalism. If you want to succeed in MT, you should learn from this mistake that you made.

Good luck to you too. I will send you your check this weekend, despite all you threaten to do."

The check we paid her cleared today 7/28/2005.

Despite her calling the wrath of God on us, I am happy to report that our business has grown (although we have yet to recover the minutes we lost from the client Vanessa abandoned us on) and need more MTs for multispecialty clinic work.

We call on all DEPENDABLE and PROFESSIONAL MTs to apply. Pls send your resume pasted on the body of an email to smt_recruiter@yahoo.com

Thank you and God Bless.

I want to buy a good computer for transcription, mine seems to be bogged down, what I need

How much Ram, processor anything should I be looking for?  I have the Windows XP office to put in it, so I'm not concerned about that, but I want something with speed and can hold the software and everything.  Any tips would be greatly appreciated!  ~ Thanks

Going down hill
I agree completely. I think we are on a sinking ship. You don't know what companies to trust and alot is going to voice recognition. I am thinking about going back to the hospital, but not as a transcriptionist. Done this for 20 years.
U-shaped
with shelves on both sides for all my books. It is oak colored veneer, made with pressboard. It is functional, but I would love something that looked more professional.
unless you look like Faith Hill you can't get away with (sm)
trendier clothes or the belly showing.  You'll just end up looking like somebody "trying" to look younger.
Thanks, mole hill... you are right...
My job is fine and I am fine... and I need to stay this way... since the place bothers me, and as the poster below said if it bothers me, then leave... that is what I will do.
Personally since it is more important for me to love my job, make my paycheck and be happy then that is what I need to continue doing as a lot of us out there... If the networking gets me down then I need to quit that.
Thanks for your positive response. At least I leave here on a good note looking at your post. And BTW: I have never run out of work at my job which is a great company, and I know my bills will be paid. Though others are out and hate the company that is their experience and not mine. I am going to just go on with my life outside of here and be happy. Sorry I have to leave, but better one less member happy outside of here, and all leave you all to your networking. Thanks again mole hill appreciate it!
a little factual HX on Bill and Hill...sm

when in Arkansas, Bill was governor earning $32,000 yearly

when in Arkansas, Hill was an attorney earning $267,000 yearly.

So calling her DUMB only makes you look MORE DUMB.

glad I could help!! Hill in 2008!!!! nm
.
Us too (VA), luckily live on top of a hill - sm
on a private road (now filled with water ruts). So most of our water drains off though our backyard is relatively flat and under about 2-3" of water now. Drained out a few inches out of our Intex pool, don't want it to flow over on its own! Shouldn't have to worry about a drought though!
Texas Hill Country
I second the suggestion of moving to the Hill Country.  It is beautiful!  My brother lives in Canyon Lake, about 30 miles north of San Antonio.  You have to like driving though, because to get anywhere you have to drive a lot.   From the house my brother lived in when we visited a few years ago he had to drive 15 miles to the grocery store, and that was considered "just around the corner."  He couldn't buy ice cream because it would melt on the way home!
give Hill credit for STANDING BY HER MAN...nm

I downsized from a very big L-shaped wooden desk
to a much smaller square glass, sorta light blue tinged background to it. I will say before I felt so overwhelmed with all that I had on the L-shaped desk and now that has completely dissipated. I also bought to go along with the desk a 4 tiered shelf that is right beside me and that holds my fax, telephone, printer and some other little odds and ends. I am very happy now. All the other the L held was weighting me down literally. Can't get as much on this desk and relieved my anxiety.
the old haunting of hill house with julie harris...
that part when she is lying in bed at night and thinks her friend was holding her hand, and turns out her friend was in another bed across the room...
i've got a clear glass L-shaped desk,
and plain buttercup yellow walls (here when I moved in).  I'm going to go into business with a family friend painting (faux finishes, murals, etc) so I'm thinking of painting my office with a stone look wall (on the wall with the window) and a mural of some sort (probably italin)on the wall that I face.  I will eventually knock that wall down anyway so that it's open to below/looks over the family room so if the mural isn't that great it really won't matter-and if it turns out great- the wall will probably stay
All diamond-shaped heads are poisonous snakes! I do know that! nm

Dictaphone also makes it's own little fan-shaped pedal to be used with ExText/
d
L-shaped desk, bookcase under the left side for my medical references
(homemade by my DH, of course), file cabinet to the left. Phone on the left side of L, mouse on the right, easy reaches for my aching elbows if I keep them in front of me. My desk faces my door to the office (sliding glass doors to the house) so I can see anyone who decides to just come in the door without knocking. If they knock, it takes me a minute or so to get to the door, but that's okay too. Even with my big L-shaped desk, I still have lots of extra clutter that I need to put away, file, throw away taking up my space, but at least I can find everything I need when I need it. :-)
Not conducive! LOL...ugly U-shaped metal desk facing a couch with a TV on a dresser out
s
I made a card with a nice close-up photo of hers printed oblong-shaped with a red background, a huge
blank space beside the photo for my message written in silver ink, and some pressed tiny flowers to decorate the edges, then I laminated. She was so proud to show it off to her friends. (You might want to use this idea next year, maing sure you press small flowers first, or you can think of other decors).
Winning the lottery

If I won millions I'd quit in a heartbeat...I'm burnt out...was MTSO for 8 years...I'd buy our friend's Ice Hockey Arena so I'd have something to pass on to my boys...We are hockey fanatics.

If  it was $1000 a week for life I'd cut down to part-time and try to work more on my personalized craft business.
