Gift of gab is a gift in deed. Not having it has cost me dearly.
I became an MT because of my interest in medical field, fascination with the work and yes, a lack of social skills. I really did think that my work would speak for me.
Elizabeth...sm
please don't misunderstand what I am saying...yes I agree, it is very frustrating changing sup's (TC) all the time.  Believe me, I've been w/MQ for over 4 years and have had at least six TCs!!! But, not once have I been personally contacted, e-mail or otherwise, by one of them.  I always take it upon myself to just send a quick hello to the new TC, introduce myself, etc.  Think of it this way, they have a couple hundred or so MTs to worry about, we only have one TC...just a thought! Anyways, enough about this subject...don't wanna ruffle any feathers! Have a wonderful day!
Way to go Elizabeth
:-)
Elizabeth
You are so right.  I am wasting time and energy ruminating on this thing. I am just so frustrated.  I honestly think I need to find another position, even though I hate leaving a place I have been at for 14-plus years.  My husband and I sat down last night and had a good talk, and I have had a buttload of health problems since working for this place.  What is funny, it is a mental health facility!  Many of the employees and myself get a chuckle out of this, because the therapists/psychiatrists are always referring people for stress management, etc., and we are some of the most stressed people in the whole county.  I am going to start looking!

my vote would be for Elizabeth
Vargas, the journalist. I know she has a job and is due to have a baby, but I think she would be a classy addition.

CMT re-cert observation

Am I missing something?  It's cheaper for me to redo the test from scratch than to buy the recertification/educational materials.

Keeping up cert costs too
I was a CMT for 20 years before I finally let it go.  Only one company I worked for in all that time paid extra for the CMT; then they were bought by Medquist who didn't care.  If you ever change companies - voluntarily or otherwise - the CMT may no longer bring you extra cash.  Remember, too, that you'll have to pay to keep up the cert.  I went to the conventions every year.  They ran me at least $1000 then with registration, airfare, hotel, food, ground transportion, etc.  Worked in-house then, and my employers didn't reimburse.  I was *lucky* I could get my vacation then.  It would probably be more now; everything else is.  If you don't have PTO where you work, then it will cost you what you would have made for those days as well.  Perhaps you're lucky and have a strong local chapter that will provide you CEs for much less cost and aggravation.  If you use the articles in the Journal, it will still cost.  Plus, it's not just any credit-worthy activity, it's one from column A, two from column B, etc.  It makes it much harder to get what you need (which may or may not have anything to do with what you REALLY need to improve your skills).  I didn't regret it while I was doing it, but I wouldn't do it again unless forced.  I hoped for 20 years that it would mean more than *personal satisfaction*, but it never did.
Thank You Sandy and Elizabeth - you are great!
thank you so much for taking the time to help me. Happy Holidays!
what is TVPS?
