Yep, Ax has great bennies.  DSG and Precyse have good benefits.  You probably won't find many companies who can match the price on those bennies at Ax though.

The account I was on did not have ESLs.  I just didn't like their platform.  It was slow.  Too, I didn't like to having to fill in demographic info, which was part of the account I was on.  Things may have changed, though, since I left.

Does Keystrokes offer bennies or are you an IC? Thank you again for your help and Merry Christmas to all!

If you have paid AHDI dues, CONGRATULATIONS! you have just helped fund the special pricing deal AHDI gives Indian MTs.

Heartland Information Services, Spryance, Inc., Merge Written by News Editor
Wednesday, 15 November 2006
Combined Companies Create Premier Outsourced Transcription Provider Heartland Information Services has merged with Spryance, Inc., forming one of the premier offshore transcription providers in the United States. Spryance shareholders will fund the purchase of Heartland Information Services from HCR ManorCare. The new combined company will be marketed under the Heartland Information Services brand.

Headquartered in Boston, Spryance provides transcription service to more than 175 hospitals and clinics across the country, utilizing 1,200 MTs in India. Heartland’s corporate headquarters is located in Toledo, Ohio, with work centers in Bangalore and Delhi, India. By combining companies, the new Heartland will have over 2,500 medical transcriptionists providing service to over 200 hospital and clinical customers.

Dennis Paulik, General Manager of Heartland, will become the President and CEO of the new combined company. Raj Malhotra, CEO of Spryance, will become Chairman of the Board of the combined companies. Joining Mr. Malhotra on the board will be Gene Barduson, Chairman and CEO, Alteer, Inc., Dennis Byerly, former CEO Third Millennium Healthcare Systems, Inc., Mahendra Patel, formerly with DEC, David Beecken, Partner, Beecken Petty O’Keefe & Company, and Thomas Schleisinger, Partner, Beecken Petty O’Keefe & Company.

“Combining the two companies creates synergies that will add value for customers,” says Dennis Paulik, President and CEO of the new Heartland Information Services. “For example, Heartland provides industry-leading quality and customer support and Spryance provides capacity and scalability.”

“The Spryance investors, led by Beecken Petty O’Keefe & Company and International Finance Corporation, provide the financial strength and resources for the new Heartland to grow rapidly,” adds Mr. Malhotra, Heartland Information Services Chairman of the Board.

American Association for Medical Transcription, in association with Prometric, announced the Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) credentialing exam – a newly developed global ‘level-1’ credential in the arena of Medical Transcription. This program is aimed at helping the existing talent pool to scale up and meet the global standards and quality benchmarks. THE TWO ORGANIZATIONS ALSO ANNOUNCED A SPECIAL 'INDIA PRICE' FOR AAMT'S EXISTING CERTIFIED MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONIST (CMT) EXAM (emphasis mine).

Medical Transcription is a booming industry with exponential growth prospects and opportunities for committed players. While globally the industry potential is around USD 30-33 billion, in India it is around USD 300 million. Currently, there are around 18,000 medical practitioners in the country and this is expected to almost double within the next 2-3 years.
Thanks for your response, Bennies ...sm
rflmao! Okay, I did ask for your "dream job". How about if you get some of the above but not all. I too would have loved all of those bennies - but I'd settle for a few. Keep dreaming and let me know what is important. I will try to get a consensus of what is the most requested and see if it is at all possible. My contact has had a lot of interest in American transcriptionists, hooray! Now if they are only ready to pay a fair wage! We shall see. Thanks again!
I am an employee. I just found out that the new bennies sm
are better than ever including PTO and sick time, a vesting schedule for 401K match and two floating holidays. I have the insurance, which is good but expensive. I wish we had dental, but I am not sure if that is part of the new plan.

My neighbor also works for Keystrokes but as an IC. I think her rate of pay is higher but she does not need benefits as her husband has government benefits.
Provided bennies were identical?
;lkj
part time now makes 50K + bennies...sm
My friend just graduated 2 years ago with a BSN, is working 3-11 shift 32 hours per week, Med-Surg oncology has incredible benefits (any benefits are appealing to those of us who are self-employed) and is pulling in over $50K a year. She makes close to $35 an hour and this is at a small community hospital, not in Chicago.
Why not work fulltime at home for a hospital with bennies?
Or look into the state children's medical program. Check into foodstamps and utility assistance while you're at it. The states also usually have a program to enforce child support, which can't be arbitrarily reduced if someone just decides to be self-employed and hide their income one day.

As for the savings and retirement, relax, you'll get there. As for life insurance, you can get a term or universal policy cheap. I can relate about the job situation. I'm teetering on bankruptcy myself now because I lost my steady job in October and have had two other jobs with no work or lousy platforms since then. I keep waiting for the utility companies to shut everything off because I can't pay.

We'll survive. I can't wait for tax refund time myself. You'll survive, too. You can do this. The best part is that you can do this without his help, and your kids will love and respect you for being the responsible parent.
Maybe my thinking is off here but . . do if I was covered under my husband's bennies program I&#
I like working at home too much I guess - not really in a rut, just very, very comfy here and like being my own boss all day long. JMHO.
QA, $3000/mo hourly so get some overtime too, bennies paid, no complaints. nm
x
A few years ago, Atlanta in-house average was about $12-$15/hour, plus good bennies. nm

By the way, as of about 5 years ago, Wellstar was with a service.  They might not even have in-house MTs.  Hope so for  your sake :).

Gloria, do not speak for me. I never said I wanted bennies, and other perks a corporate executive e
I simply want an MT job where I am fairly compensated for the work I do. I never asked for or expected the bennies and perks...just a fair wage with a good company. The only other thing I would like to hear from you is the name of your company so I can STAY AWAY FROM IT!
Well of course we know that now. Back then we didn't because he didn't allow unfettered access.
c
right we children didn't tattle to the administrator did we. BTW, didn't you think we were &#
because some half-witted idiot said everyone was jealous because some other anonymous poster said they were going to be a doctor. Didn't they call it doctor envy. Oh yeah, that was all about you wasn't it busy-body MT. You with your degree and premed but yet you still post here and acuse others of jealously. I dunno but you and dano seem so close, I can't put my finger on it but I would say you could be computer clones. Jealous indeed. Children indeed. I think you are blowing your covers) dano and busy body MT. This whole "jealously" thing makes me think that you may be one and the same poster.
I didn't go into labor until 2.5 weeks later, so it didn't work. Sorry!...nm
x
sorry I didn't have time to thank you, but I didn't forget!!

Didn't you tell me?!?!? No, Liza, you didn't tell me. Hooray for you! lol
x
Didn't know you could do that...
I didn't know you could pick and choose, thought you just went with what came onto your computer.
Didn't know
How come Transcend isnt allowed to post here?  Because of taking on new clients?  I dont understand what that means.  They don't offshore, right?
Wow. Didn't like that one bit.

I feel sorry for the employees.  I can't believe they were making that much inhouse!  I was only making $12.00 and had to answer phones, file, photocopy, greet patient's etc.  I left to do this and actually make a bit more (and saving tons on gasoline), but to be making $150.00 a day and have benefits?  That's gotta hurt.  My former employer "offered" benefits, but my health insurance was nearly $600 a month out of my pocket.  My husband insures us now for half that.  I can't imagine not having that.

I was offended by the part of the article that referred to at home transcriptionists making errors, etc.  I know for a fact that most big companies do not hire "newbies."  My poor niece was under the impression that all she had to do was take the MT course (don't remember the name, but it was a good one).  Even though she graduated early with high honors, she still can't find a job with a national. She found a few local accounts and is only making 5.5 cents per line.

I don't know about everyone else, but I've been doing this for 16 years and I found the "testing" for nationals frustrating!  I thought I failed miserably and was shocked when I was hired as my testing was 98% (2 of four dictators being fast talking ESLs and ER reports which I have never done and won't do again).

Ad in my paper today says:  "You too can work at home!  Become a Medical Transcriptionist!"  Seminar held at the holiday Inn and the ad gives the impression that anyone that can actually use a keyboard will be hired right off and make tons of money.

No way, tell me they didn't...sm
"they took out internet fees, insurance, etc."

Maybe I misunderstood the above. You don't mean your regular benefit deductions from a paycheck, do you? I can understand taking out taxes, but I'd raise holy heck about taking out benefit deductions. It certainly is not a regular payroll paycheck.

Along those same lines, I recently separated from a company that I worked for 2-1/2 months. When I first started, I had signed up for health insurance and the flexible spending account. You know, there's usually a 3-month waiting period before these benefits begin, and before they start taking out the deductions. Since I gave notice before the 3 months was up, I was shocked to see they began taking the deductions out on my last paycheck. I told the supervisor that I wanted that money back. They did make me wait for the next payroll, but I received that money back just today! It's worth a try!

2 cents, huh? As if you're not insulted already by the fact that they cheated you in the first place. The MTs should demand to know how they arrived at their amounts, and then be able to verify it.

I worked for them for 2 years and my line counts rarely matched theirs. Supervisors could not explain the discrepancy either. Two months after I quit, the news about the MT class-action lawsuit came out. Personally, I don't trust them.

Have a great time shopping on your unexpected money!!
I didn't have any out of the NE
yesterday either...the Warminster office.  Haven't checked yet today...almost afraid to!
No I didn't see
Scarborough Country last night.   This whole mess is so sad and government at all levels is a disgrace.  People quibbling over whether they are "refugees" or "evacuees."  How utterly ridiculous.  Not to mention the quibbling over those who deserve help and those who don't.  Those who have already been receiving social services from the government will continue to receive priority help from the government and those who are trying to help themselves will be forgotten just as they have always been.
Didn't you know....
It's more important in PC America to have somebody who speaks every other language EXCEPT English, so that those who can't speak English will be able to conduct their business.  In So. California you can hardly get a job dealing with the public unless you can speak Spanish.  Same with the border towns in Texas.  Talk about discrimination.  However, your situation was probably the almighty buck... Cheaper to contract to the call answering centers in India than to hire someone here.  I once had to call a tow truck with my AAA card.  Guess what?  Somebody in India trying to dispatch a tow truck in the United States.  Couldn't understand me whatsoever.  Same with my computer support number... India.  The guy had me clicking on this and that to fix my little problem and before I knew it, he had me return my computer to factory settings (didn't tell me ahead of time and I knew the second I hit the button what I was doing, but it was too late) and I lost everything saved on my computer.  I was LIVID!
It is 26% , not 30%. I didn't say 30%.
Get it right. Geez.
Sorry, no. But I didn't want to let

I'm sure you already know there's lots of information on line.  My guess is that you wanted to hear someone's personal experience with the same problem.  I'm a relative "oldie" myself.

I also don't have to tell you that your orthopedist is your absolute best and clearest source of information.  The only suggestion I do have is that you develop a list of specific questions to ask him, and only him, during your upcoming appointment.  Good luck.

I didn't know
they had any ads posted. I was just searching around, googled Transcription companies and found their name, went to web page, etc.
The Website sounds like a totally legit, US MT co. You would never know it was offshore unless you asked. Good thing you asked before you went any further. Wonder why they ran an ad for US MTs if they are offshore? Maybe trying to get a US side started? I will have to keep the reverse lookup in mind, but Im sure not all companies will be that sloppy. I wish there was another way to find out that stuff. Were they nasty to you when you told them you wouldn't type for them? Thanks for the info!!!!
Well, I'[m sure she didn't think of that one!

...and I suppose you are perfect...never made a mistake or had bad judgement?  This is NOT what she needs right now.  Don't you think she knows she did wrong?  Get over it.  She is asking some very serious questions and doesn't need any moral opinions, okay?

They said I didn't have...sm
enough experience, which I thought was strange because I have nearly 10 years.  They passed on hiring me without so much as a test or speaking to me, and now I am the QA director of another company.  Kind of funny.  Their loss, not mine!  Glad I stayed where I am at.
Sorry, should be DIDN'T see that one.
s
I didn't see it as an ask for help.
deal with it everyday and do my best and go on.
Oh, Wow! Didn't think....

it would be that easy. I was absolutely in the dark on this.

I will be using the other keyboard, though, because the letters are completely worn off this one.

Maybe the best, but I tried em and didn't like em.
x
i didn't say
I worked for a national. Matter of fact i work for a very small company.
didn't anyone tell you to take them at the same
time every day, not the morning 1 day and noon the next, etc?
I didn't have a mean QA, BUT!!!

I had one that made me feel more than inadequate!  Nitpicky corrections EVERYWHERE!!! Going as far as--if the whole report was dictated in present tense and 1 word was dictated past, and I changed it to present, I would hear about it--then again, if I didn't change it, I would hear about it, too!  It was a no win situation for me.

There were always dumb corrections being made to my reports, always non-medical.  I just felt like no matter what way I would do something...I would get corrected back to the other way.  I never, EVER got any corrections back that were necessary.  Never changed the meaning of any report! I was to the point where I was spending 8-9 hours on 30 minutes of dictation..and I am NOT KIDDING!! trying to make sure that all of the "little" words were perfect. I was so paranoid the whole time--only to get more corrections!

I have QA'd at 99% to 100% monthly (never dropping below) on a verbatim accounts for 2 other companies and just could never understand why I couldn't do ANYTHING right for the other company.

Needless to say, I am a lot happier now with a much higher line count for sure!! Lol, making as much, if not more, elsewhere in 5 hours a day as I was for the other place 8-9-10 hours a day.

Sorry. I didn't mean to come across as
nasty. There are a lot of companies that pay by report and are good companies. MDI-FL, Keystrokes, MTS, T-South and MVTS all pay by report and I'm sure there are more. Again I apologize for sounding rude.
yea but he didn't look like the old KR....sm

Kenny has been quite open about all the plastic surgery he has had, he and Dolly Parton (good friends) have always been open about their multiple procedures, which I appreciate.  Kenny is 67 and just had twin boys not long ago, 5 wives, doesn't believe in prenup agreements, and hence, he admits he has lost tons of $$ via the prior 4 divorces.  He was just on TV on someone's special not 2 months ago.

However, I miss that weathered handsome face he always had...he doesn't look like the original KR.

I didn't even know who he was. It is
hard to believe he looked anything like that guy.  He wasn't quite as flaming as the other guy though.
I didn't even know who it was until they
said who he was.  I did think he looked more masculine, but it also looked like he had had plastic surgery or had a ton of makeup on.   He's a local boy but I haven't seen him/heard much about him lately.
Didn't I tell you?
To me it's not slaving.  You see, I love, I mean LOVE, to cook.  As a matter of fact, I run a small catering business in my spare time.  Thanks for your concern, though!
now, why didn't I think of this? lol
I am not short, but a foot pedal on a foot rest would be comfy!  If you find one that works welll, I'd love to hear about it! Jill
Really? I didn't know that. sm
But I did feel she hadn't been herself and kind of miserable the last month or so. What do you think did it? The gastric bypass thing she so OBVIOUSLY lied about? Hmmm.
no, that didn't fix it, and
in Gear Player when I do a USB footpedal test, the rewind, fastforward, and play sections of the footpedal on the screen light up when I step on the pedals but when I transcribe, it doesn't rewind unless I step (stomp) on the pedal a number of times :(
Really? I didn't know that! :)

She didn't say

they were paying production -- probably an hourly position. Mop up the drool.

I didn't get your e-mail.  Please write back and let me know what you said.  Thank you!  Sincerely, Nissa Landry

Why didn't
you like the job with the school system?

I didn't know that. Thanks
