Don't confuse EMR with click and point.

Click and point may end the need for clinic MTs, but hospitals still need detailed reports for joint commission.  Hospital dictation still needs to transcribed.

WE, the MTs, do not do EMR, EMR is point and click
done by doctors or nurses.
If the doctor of your son is 'typing' into her computer, she is probably doing her own MTing.
How can people be pro or con EMR if they do not even know how and what it is doing and by whom (not who!)
Some people, even MTs think that VR equals EMR, it does NOT.
a true EMR is more of a point and click system...sm

like you see a patient for a sore throat and symptoms come on a drop down menu and you click on "soreness"  "erythema"  and don't click on "difficulty swallowing"

the idea is to fill in like a checklist. works better in some specialities rather than others i.e. good for podiatry and oncology (think of all the repetition), poor in ER where they need to tell the story. The main thing to remember is each year, the new docs coming out are more and more computer literate. Have you ever seen the way 20 y/o's IPOD, instant message, MP3 and text on their cell phones, all at the same time?  The only MT's working will be working for the crusty old farts...so there will be 1 job for every 10.

The ER program is specific to ER and is point and click. nm
It is not applicable to the basic 4.
some doctors may choose to use Point & Click with EMR.
nm
not much actual "data", again it's a point and click thing...sm
it's not like people are actually putting in words, just clicking on the match. I agree with the overall groan about GIGO (garbage in, garbage out) but I don't think it's stemming the tide at all...
point and click. (Sorry, too verbose for the space allotted.)

no, it's not what he means. Point and Click is Client decision.
nm
That's exactly what I meant. Sorry to confuse.

Don't confuse EMR with voice recognition
EMR is simply where the patient's records are kept in a computer database. Now HOW that record orginates depends on whether it is manually transcribed or is generated by a voice recognition program by the doctors. You need to ask the MDs how this will change how you do your work for them, (example if you're getting tapes now, will you be getting digital voice files and need a WAV pedal to transcribe?) or will it mean they will start using a service? You won't know by asking US....ask them.

good luck
Sorry to confuse -- what version of Word are you using?

Quotation marks must confuse a lot of people. sm

I even have a couple of doctors who dictate quotation marks incorrectly, over and over.  They'll say things like:  The patient said he quote feels better *quote period*

Transcribed, that would be:  The patient said he "feels better".   (Note the period outside of the ending quotation mark.  Doesn't it look... wrong?  It is!)

It should be:  "feels better." (with the period, THEN the ending quotation mark)

The rule (from my handy Webster's Grammar Guide) is that the period and comma are always placed before *ending* quotation marks.

I see this mistake all the time on this board and in internal company memos, which really drives me crazy.  I hate to see it incorrectly because the more you see things done the wrong way, the more that way starts to look right!

Quotation marks confuse me sometimes too, because there are rare (IMO) times when the punctuation (like a question mark, for example) does go on the outside of the quotation mark, *depending on the material being quoted.*  But that's why I have a grammar reference book.

One of my PAs constantly rides the microphone, click, fuzz, missing word, chew, click,

Left click on the taskbar and drag it back to the bottom. Once you've done that, right click on

Click the office button and then click word options. It's under proofing.

Click at the top of the column you want to order, then click on the AZ button in top toolbar.

the little white piece of paper icon to bring up the window where you ADD your new entries to, type your abbreviation in the Keyword box, then drop down to the Text to Type box and put in what you need it to say, then click Okay. You're done! If you want to delete your entry, arrow down to it, then click on the Trash Can icon. It'll ask if you want to put it on the clipboard, say yes and hit okay. If you want to modify it, use the little hand on the piece of paper icon. I like to click on the Disk icon to save stuff once I enter it, too, as a backup. If you're working and want to enter a paragraph or a page, you'll hightlight your stuff, bring up the ADD window, copy and paste it into the Text to Type area using the commands on the bottom of that box, name it, and hit okay. To use hot keys and stuff, you'll have to read the instructions in the help file. Good luck! ..nm
I didn't apply, so that's a moot point. The point I was making is that
she's ranting here about something that doesn't even pertain to most of us. You can't come to a MT message board railing at MTs without getting a response. That's why it's not called MTSOstars. Also, it's unprofessional of a business owner to let her emotions overrule her common sense. As for the newbies, they'll learn. We were all newbies at one time or another. None of us was born perfect, not even the MTSO.
You missed my point. My point wasn't perks but prestige...nm
nm
The point wasn't that it was copyrighted. The point the poster tried to make
:(
That's not my point. My point is previous owner hired
nm
not my point, actually. My point was the bigotry is the same.
The bigotry's always there. Not all "Mexicans" are Mexican, nor are they all illegal. My point is, though, people used to make remarks about cabbage smell about the Irish just like comments are made now about how nasty Mexicans are.

Every time somebody says something about "those people," something bigoted is coming out. That's all I'm saying.
click this one instead :)

You have to click . . .(sm)
on the "eye" and then the foot pedal tab. Then you can input 2 or 3. But it will not take effect until to download the next job.
Click on history
It states that in Nov. 2004 Warburg Pincus and Soros Private Equity Partners acquired Spheris. It is right on their history page.
I use GearPlayer and when I click (sm)
"start," "programs" and find "GearPlayer", when I highlight Gearplayer I'm given the option of "tools" and then I can test my footpedal. Just wondering if perhaps your footpedal will be controlled by whatever program you are using to run it? Try checking under your programs listed and see if there are any options there. Or try rebooting your computer, maybe and see if that resets something??? I hope these suggestions help you!!
Right click on your desktop (sm)
and select Arrange Icons and uncheck Auto Arrange.

This one seems to only do the mouse click
part, and doesn't let you move the mouse. It says you can use one pedal for the mouse click, one instead of the ALT key, and one for the CTRL key. So you would still have to take your hand off the keyboard to move the darned mouse. At least that's the way I read it.
Usually you click on their name and e-mail SM

box will open up.  You fill it out and click send.  You won't know what the e-mail address is as MTStars keeps is confidential....so it might behoove you to use an anonymous e-mail of your own if you have one.

Hope this helps!

You have to right click the file and
save it to your computer. Then open express scribe and load the files from wherever you saved them.
When you click on the C: drive,
'Documents and Settings'? That is the folder that I would double click on in the C: drive folder, and then 'Owner'. My 'My Documents' folder is inside the 'Owner' folder.
Did you try with a right mouse click instead
xx
I don't think it works that way. Usually you right click and tell it

what directory to save to.  Once it saves the file then you open it and do the test.    This is the way I've tested several times.   If you are testing using and MTTest test this is the way it is done.

If you click on "posted by", you get a -
"send an email" form that pops up, where you have to put YOUR email info, but it doesn't disclose theirs.

Still.... I'm always wary!
In your post click on the FTP
and it will give you a definition of an FTP.  Any words underlined and in purple in your posts if you click them, a definition appears.  This may help explain it.  Also, you can look under Wikipedia if you Google FTP.
CLICK ON FORMAT,

Then the arrow at the bottom to bring up more choices.  Pick "background", then choose the color you want.

click settings then...sm

You can't just right click on the file itself?
That's what I understood you could do. Again, I don't have any dss files to try it on, so I'm shooting in the dark. Sorry about that.
Click on View and ..... sm
see if Thumbnail view is selected.  If so, just click on it again and the "print preview/thumbnail view" will disappear.
WIth mine, all I have to do is click in the
box where the actual word is and type over it, then click change.
it works, just click on it.........nm

What did you click so that you received the
copy of the test? If you clcked the 'send' button and afterwards you received the completed copy of your test unedited) what's the problem, as your test was already gone. How could you have cheated if your test was already sent?

They immediately sent you a copy of your submitted test, unedited. for your files, as one cannot save testfiles.

I do not understand where your problem is?

Just wait for their response and I hope you get hired!
P.S. You should be able to just double click on the header.

You will see two articles posted that Spheris has hired another 300 Indian workers with plans for 700 more in southern India. They outsource big-time. I checked with them 6 months ago and told them no thanks.
