They about blasted my eardrums out when I first hit play after plugging them in because my volume was so loud as I was struggling to hear. I am hooked now. IPOD headphones!

I use my IPOD headphones sm
the original ones that came with the IPOD and they are the best I have found yet!!! Using Medquist DocQScribe program and sound is very low...super told me I would have to get a hearing test.....then it dawned on me one day to try the IPOD headphones, now I wouldn't use anything else!!! Happy Holidays.
I use iPod headphones also.
I've been using them for a while then I bought a pair of transcribing headphones from Dell and couldn't hear a thing.  I'll never change now!
IPOD headphones are the best! nm

Help me decide which Ipod

Today's my birthday and my husband is taking me out tonight to pick out an Ipod. I've been wanting one for awhile. You wouldn't think I'd want something to keep me in headphones even more than I already am, but....

Anyway, I can't decide being getting a Nano or Video Ipod. If anyone has either and has an opinion on it, I'd sure appreciate the advice.  I'd either get the 4 gig Nano or the 30 gig Video Ipod. I know it's a big leap in storage size, but I wonder if the flash memory in the 4 gig Nano would be more reliable than the hard drive in the 30 gig?  Any opinions would be appreciated.

Belkin TuneBuds for IPod - sm

I just bought a pack of 5 pairs of these things at Kohls for $10.  They are the exact same foam thingies that go on my headset, and they come in fashion colors!  Just an FYI if anyone has been looking for foam things.

I love my simple IPOD shuffle! nm

Wow .. $149!! It says it was created for ipod users -- is the cord sm
long enough to go to your computer, or did you have to get some kind of extension device?  They sound great ... just not sure if cheap ol' me is ready for fork out that kinda cash.
I use Bose for my iPod but Shures for work.

Those of you with daughters, at what age did you - sm
allow them to have their ears pierced?  My daughter's are 7 (8 in August) and 6 and are both bugging me to get their ears pierced.  I was 10 when I had mine done, but then again I had no interest in doing it before then.  Of course you see the mom's that have their kids ears done as babies/toddlers, but I think that is way too young, but that is my opinion.  So what is a reasonable age?
My daughters have certain guidelines in the way they want (sm)

the children to act, be treated, etc.  We have an understanding that I won't let them play in the street, swim unattended, smart mouth an adult, cus, or do anything that is generally dangerous for them.  They love to help cook, garden and just sit on my lap and be read to.  Yes, I may take them shopping a little too often, but they usually have helped in the garden or helped with housework prior, so they are actually earning the money they spend for toys at WalMart.

I would never undermine their parents (even though the father of the two youngest is a true bum) to them.  I try to always touch upon good things they should be proud of such as "Your mommy sure knows how to fix you hair so nice, I wish I could do it as well."

These grandchildren are the most precious thing in the world to me and the last thing I would do is act in a way that would keep their parents from allowing them to visit.   Maybe you should explain to those grandparents your reasons/concerns.  Surely they would be glad (after an initial sulk maybe) to change their ways in exchange for more hug and kiss time from their grandbabies.

teenage daughters

Excuse me for being clueless but what do DH and DD stand for?

I understand where you are coming from.  My 2nd daughter from 1st marriage is almost 16 and lives with her dad.  Her stepmom is very disrespectful of me.  Always telling daughter what I should be doing, like getting a "real job".  Now my daughter has taken to calling me names any chance she gets, cursing and disrespecting my fiance's family also.  Since she lives with her dad we decided not to let her come down for a few weeks but that will not solve the problem.

Any ideas anyone.  I think the names and lack of respect is coming from the stepmom but she of course denies doing anything wrong.

Teenager daughters
Thank you Terri for your encouragement. I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind.
Very young on both daughters - sm
Two weeks old on first daughter. One week old on second daughter.
We adopted our two daughters through...

the foster care program in California.  If you would like to know all about it, both positive and negative, please e-mail me.  I really don't want to share the whole story on a public forum.

Grown-up daughters - say nothing unless asked. And then don't say too much. nm

My 3 daughters have myspace sites
They are ages 18, 25 and 26. My older daughters stay in touch with old friends. My youngest has met lots of Marine girlfriends like her and they support each other. There is a lot of gross stuff, but some of it is kids being kids (do we all forget what we were like at that age). However, I do think parents should check their minor children's spaces. There is a lot of admission of underage drinking and drug use going on. I think these kids are nute posting that kind of stuff. I have a site and password too, that I only use to monitor things. My kids don't know that I have that. I just like to look at the pictures.

And yes, I agree, it is not any different than adults posting to sites like this or another adult type informational site.
I have a friend who has her 2 daughters way too busy - sm
They also go the private school we used to go to (trying public this year); so her kids (11 and 8) have a min. of an hour to 2 hours of homework a night to deal with as well as Brownies and swim league (2 different ones, do not over lap though), as well as Sunday school/church. I know they have to do their homework in the car a lot. My 2 do Brownies (every other Monday)right after school for 2 hours, 8-y/o takes 2 hours of dance on Tuesdays after school(only took 1 last year), and my 6-y/o take 1 hour of dance on Wednesdays after school. So I think they are okay but Tuesdays and Wednesdays are more hectic and homework gets done a little later (finished last night at 8, after dinner, homework, showers), Wednesdays get home an hour earlier so that is not as bad. But I agree some parents way over schedule their kids, some so they don't have to deal with them so much, others to keep them out of trouble. My brother keeps his 2 boys pretty busy, though that has slowed down some now that they are older; but he definitely over scheduled his too in the past; and in the summer too, they go to a lot of camps when they could be home with mom though she does not work. I feel bad for his kids since they are always being shuttled off somewhere and hardly see either parent, though my brother now works out of the house (quit his job and started his own consulting firm) so maybe that will change some. I live 200+ miles away so it is hard to say. I just hope they all turn out okay.
Yes, my daughters are getting smart to reality.
When they are out in the "general" public with their girlfriends they know not to flaunt themselves in a disrespectful way. We, as in all parents on both sides, chosen to accept our children because I feel like condemning them for something they believe in is wrong. Do I deep down hope and pray it is a phase and they will change, I'd be lying if I said no, but will I love them any less if it doesn't happen that way, of course not. I do feel bad because my stepdaughter was extremely close to her grandparents and when they found out they asked her to keep her life to herself and they are opting to go with the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. They are fairly religious and state that they will never acknowledge anything in her life that pertains to that. At 18, she was crushed but her love for them stays strong and she respects their beliefs. As a side note, my sister who is a year older than me decided she was a lesbian too after 3 marriages, 3 children and more men that I could ever count her whole life. Honestly, I feel this is some kind of "trend" and it is a little disturbing. I have met some people who were "different" day one and I would think to myself "wow, they really are a man in a women's body and vice versa." It is obvious that they were born that way and had no choice, but what I see now is more of a lifestyle choice when you spend your own life being boy-crazy and then all of a sudden you only date women. What is the world coming to...being "open-minded" is about the only way to put handling all of this.
Yeah, I kept all mine and my daughters will get to read them when
have a bunch of them, Judy Blume, I think is the author.
Daughters' friends call me Miss Lori.

Kathy Hilton and her daughters, Paris and Nicky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are just WAY COOL!
The bible also states it is okay for fathers to sleep with their daughters. You are limiting

Went to my 5th grade daughters baskeball championship game today!

Please see message. I have three daughters with long, long hair.
I also have long hair down to my waist and my three girls have hair that long too. My daughter brought them home from school last year. I was devestated and grossed out!!!! I have never had to deal with lice. Anyway, we did the treatments and two of my girls broke out in a severe rash with the OTC stuff. Their little heads were so sore!! I thought I was being meticulous with eggs, only to find them hatching again down the road. A nurse at the pediatricians office suggested I try oil to suffocate them since my girls were allergic to the lice solution. I bought a huge bottle of veggie oil and dumped it on all three heads, plus my own. I then wrapped the heads in platic wrap and then a towel. I left this on for 30 minutes. It takes a while to wash out the oil, but we never, ever had the lice or eggs again!!! If you try this, make sure you put on an old shirt and put a towel around your shoulders. Obviously we were desperate, but we all have such long hair and very thick hair so I was willing to try anything. And I figured there was no chemicals involved so that was pretty safe. And it sure did help my littles ones since their scalps were pretty raw from the solution. Hope this helps and Good luck!
Do you ever sit there with your headphones on
listening to a CD, maybe typing correspondence or message board posts, and just pretend to be working just so you can get a moment of peace and quiet without any interruptions?  I do.  I got some new CDs and am "finishing up my work right now."
headphones
www.transcriptiongear.com has them for 69.00 AND you can get an adapter so you can use them with the dictation system boxes.  As you probably know, you can't use stereo ones because you only get sound in one ear.  The adapter you can buy gives you sound in both ears.
Headphones
Check out Bose....they have some amazing headphones. They are sound deadening. I am not sure what they cost, though.
HEADPHONES
Hi, I use SONY MDR-CD380, about $45 to $50.  tried other SONYmodels and other brands, but found these the best.  provide them to all transcribers working for me.
Headphones
I have tried different headphones, but am currently using the headhone that came with the DAC phone.  I told my employer about the problem in the past and they sent me a new DAC phone.  I have had the same problem with the new phone as well.  I figure it must be something I am doing wrong, but I can't figure out what it is yet!
we HAD to use USED headphones
Where I used to work, if we desk shared we had to share headsets, even the kind that push inside your ears. That was only one of the problems with that hospital!

I have $20.00 Radio Shack wireless headphones that work wonderfully for me.
Headphones
I had noise cancelling ones but replacing the batteries was a pain and not really worth it. I just bought a pair I really like from Radio Shack and they are on sale this week half price. They are Koss - Sportclip design. What I was particularly looking for was a volume control up near the chest area. These are very lightweight and awesome sound.
headphones
got a pair from ebay, stethoscope style, love'em
headphones
Just make sure you take your old pair with you to compare the ends of the plugs. Some headphones have different plugs than others...
My dog ate my headphones!
Well, okay, he didn't exactly eat them, but he chewed them up pretty good. I had a set of Olympus, stethoscope style, and I loved them. I believe they cost in the neighborhood of about $45.00, and I am not willing to spend that again. I know, I know, careless is as careless does, or something like that. Anyway, I think I might try the cheap ear buds they mentioned below. I am currently using the ones that came with my Panasonic transcriber, but when I get the low-volume dictations that require me to turn up the volume full blast on the computer, the transcription module, and the equalizer attached to the headphones, I occasionally will have to press them down to my ears to hear some of what is said . . . what a pain. Sorry, I guess I decided to use your thread to vent a little, but I did love the Olympus headset *sigh*.
Headphones

I don't know if you've received any replies to this yet.  I'm still in MT school, but I recently got my headphones and love them.  They are the ones that look like a stethoscope.  I got them from transcriptiongear.com.  Hope this helps.

headphones
I use the headphones or ear buds, or whatever they call them that came with my iPod. They work great. I am sure that you can pick up somthing similar at Circuit City or Best Buy or even Radio Shack.
headphones
I got ones at Radio shack that have noise canceling and also have a volume on the headset control which I LOVE!
headphones
I bought ones from radio shack. I dont remember the exact price may be 30 or 40. They are great!!!
headphones
I love Radio Shack noise canceling. It has a volume control right on the wire. LOVE IT!

thank you for the tip. I'll look into it soon. So you too have to share working space with noisy people too huh? It can just be truly frustrating.

I have problems with my ears itching.  Has anyone had problems with this?  Also do you know where I can get the sponge coverings for Lanier headphones or what kind of headphones do you recommend?  Thanks!!

Headphones
Koss  DC/10 are good.
Headphones
Thank you all so much for the suggestions.  I'm trying the antiseptic in my ears.  I appreciate your help!!

The other place I like is Executive Communications in Ventura, California.  They are on the net, just Google for them.  I saw some at Costco Saturday and they were for ipods and other things, but could be used for PC too and probably a transcriber unit.  They were top of the line sound quality and I think they were $89.00, which my daughter said were a bargain.  You might need to buy an adaptor plug for a transcriber unit, but they sell those at Executive too.
headphones
I work at home with kids and although I work downstairs sometimes it is still noisy. I can't hear on my headphones if there is the slightest bit of loud noise or even my daughter talking and singing in the same room. My other problem is that my head is very small and my headphones do not want to stay on my head unless I have a bandana or hat on even at their smallest adjustment.

Anybody have a good set with good sound blockage and a small headsize?

Thanks in advance
I don't use headphones

I have Logitech speakers, which are fine.  Besides, I don't want to mess up my hearing...think about it.  Just my take on it.

To each his/her own, though.

Headphones
Do any of you guys' ears get really sore from your headphones?  My ears ache every day.  I sometimes have to take a break just to get my ears to stop hurting.  Is it my headphones you think?  What kind of headphones do ya'll use?
headphones

Which headphones does everyone like the most?  I currently have the stethascope style, which I really liked in the beginning, but now if I turn my head they cut out, so it's time to get something new.  Thanks for the feedback!

headphones
gave up my stethoscopes a long time ago in favor of stereo headphones. Also have a good noise cancelling set for dictators that whisper. These are real cheap at big lots but also several styles available at Wal-Mart (under $10) and I also saw some light noise-cancelling headsets there for about $20. Sound outperforms stetoscopes by about 2000%.
