It has been widely reported that a newly discovered Windows flaw will result in several new computer viruses over the next few days.
This new virus is launched by visiting web sites that are infected with this virus or by receiving infected e-mails. You will not be able to know if the web site is infected.
The anti-virus software vendors are working on a system update to fix this issue, but as of now, it has not been provided. Also, Microsoft is working on a patch that will fix the root cause of this problem.
Makes me very nervous also!

I'm not a member of the AAMT, I am not going to get my CMT, and I'm not taking this test either. I don't agree with anything the AAMT is doing nowadays and I will not give them any of my money. From what I gather being an RMT or CMT isn't really going to get you much further in this business anyway.

Sorry, my husband is part of a union
and it take YEARS for them to get any contract agreed upon because of the so called "union representatives" and then when they do we usually get nothing because what they give us in raises they take away in higher insurance costs, union dues etc.
I want no part of any union.

Don't work for them but did apply. Did the testing, and afterwards received reply that
they do not use people from my state. Check with them before testing.
Husband interferes with my work
I am working out of my home transcribing for a medical practice located in another state. Currently my work station is in my bedroom, just outside of my living room. My husband is only in his early 40's and out on disability due to his morbid obesity (500 lbs+) and complications from this. He has a very smothering-controlling and manipulative personality to boot. (which surfaced after we got married last year) Every morning I try to get up very early while he is still sleeping to knock out what I can before he gets up. I never know what each day in going to bring once he gets up. Mostly, though, he is wanting me to stop typing to make him breakfast, or hand him this item or that item. He rarely gets up from the couch to be self-sufficient because of his size.  If he isn't watching T.V. the majority of the day so loud that you'd think you were in a movie theater (and I am in the next room trying to type), he wants to go out at some part of the day to either run errands, go out to eat, etc. Every day there are different road blocks that he creates that pull me away from what I am doing and at EVERY juncture I have to explain to him that I have responsibilities to my employer, as if he is just hearing it for the first time. When I answer him back in a frustrating tone then I have "an attitude problem", according to him. He wants the added income coming in to the household, but he shows no respect for what I do and my responsibilities.

I should also add that my husband helps also with the printing of some of my work, on Tuesday morning and Friday morning. He sometimes will ask, any files to print or he will just look, as we have 2 computers. So I send them to my email and he just prints them. We have to do that way because it is a different printer that we have to use. I do only private accounts, thank God. Sometimes we even go out to dinner. I thank God for the way he is now. He wasn't always. He used to be very angry and used to even hit me and break dishes and be demanding, but he didn't know he was sick. Like I said, thank God.
Just pray that somehow things work out.

Your husband has a dependency problem. Talk to him that he needs to leave you alone for the time you are scheduled to work. For this duration you can do the housework and cooking by getting up early as he is physically disabled. After that lock yourself in with a bottle of water and some beverages.
Else, get him admitted into a physiological clinic for weight loss. Drop him there before you start your work and see that he remains there for the duration of your work.
Else, take up full time employment as MT or team up with a friend who is working as MT from home and work from there.

but that is it. He has his own work laptop but no printer to it. Kids have my old computer to use for now but Santa is bringing a new one supposedly (Uncle and GPs say they are buying one, we will see).

I always volunteer to work holidays, weekends, etc. because my husband is off
so he can watch the kids while I earn incentive and holiday pay. Plus, I'm the one who has to cover so the childless women can go on cruises with their latest boyfriends or husbands, or they didn't show up for work because they met a guy at a bar and have the bottle flu. Oh, poor you. Life's unfair. Suck it up and get over yourself.

In that time he has graduated college. We have applied to close to 100 places with NO responses. I work two jobs (one of which just got cut back). Its tough but I don't ask for help. It drives me to the point of wanting to hit someone when they say "Tell you husband to just get a job". I just took out 30,000 in student loans to help him get a "career" because that is what they tell us to do in a recession but guess what..NOBODY IS HIRING. If you have a job, your lucky, keep it. If you quit your job just because you want state aid, your a fraud and a liar and a poor parent. HOW could you teach your child values, responsibility and work ethic, if you have none yourself.

Started IC late in the year so about 2 months total but now is a new year and I am pondering about going to a part-time employee rather than me having to do the tax but wondered if I could wait just a littleeee longer before I have to give you know who all my money???

why not put an ad in the yellow pages for a word processing or typing service? Typing is becoming outdated and I wouldn't waste the time and money on school. Besides it takes a long time to get up to speed.
I'm the one who posted below about seeking medical care. So now I have a nerve compression in the neck after years of being hooked up to a machine typing. So the time deadlines add to the stress and do not help either. I will try to enjoy my early retirement, I'm pretty young for a nerve compression.
Part-Time Work?
I am interested in training as an MT and would only want to work PT. Is it realistic to think this is possible?
My husband already has great benifits so that is not an issue. And I do not need full-time income, just enough so he does not have to travel so much.

No, I've never gotten an email about no work.
However, you could call or email the account supervisor and ask to train on another account. I find that with the smaller MTSOs, their accounts usually aren't even dictating on major holidays. It's nice to have the time off without having to beg for it like with the nationals.

If that is the case, then make sure you save all the sent emails (I save it all) and then all you have to do is bring up her email address, select all the appropriate emails that were all ready sent, hit forward for all of them and enter in her email. Should take you less than 5 minutes to do all this and be relatively painless. --- if this does not work, yes, go for the billing route, she should be saving the work or at least keeping a backup copy of it for a min. of 3 months. I could see a file now and then but not all the time as she is doing. Very disorganized. Good luck.

Clinic MT with 3+ years experience in family practice, internal medicine, ENT, and cardiology looking for part-time work. Prefer to work in Word, 2000+ lines per week.
That's a big part of the reason I work from home.
I can't deal with traffic any more. People are just horrible, rude, dangerous drivers these days. It's not just older people or teenagers, it's EVERYONE!!! Like George Carlin always said, they're all jerks and *&$*%^* out there. I get absolutely tense and exhausted when I have to drive a lot. I don't even live in a big city. That really scares me, like when I drove around Las Vegas on vacation. I used to race (amateur) stock and muscle cars, and it's safer on the track than on the street. As it is, some stupid guy rear-ended my husband in my car, so I have to get it fixed now anyways.

I only work part time statutory and
full time with another company, I have a little bit extra withheld from my FT job each paycheck. I try to save 30% of my SE job pay to have on hand when tax time comes, even though I don't need that much, it covers me for everything plus after tax time I still have money in savings. It does depend a lot on your life though, what deductions you have, what tax bracket, etc. I am single with no kids, so I wind up in a higher tax bracket, therefore feel comfortable only when I save more.
Well, part of the reason I do NOT work in an office sm
is so that I CAN take the time to stop and feed my child, or put a band-aid on a scraped knee, or read a quick story... My children are a priority to me and the distraction they cause is acceptable for me. That doesn't make my work ethic any less than yours IMO, I work more hours probably. I work some nights after the rest of my family is sleeping. My work ethic is such that I get my work done and still give time to my children when they need it.

But the training period on average is 2-4 years, depending on how you go about it and what you want to do. If you have excellent spelling, grammar and listening skills, you have a chance. In order to do acute-care work, you would probably be wisest to train through one of the on-line schools recommended by AAMT (whatever the initials), since they are recognized by the national companies and you can get a job, if your grades are good.
If you just want to try for a clinic job and you have some background in medical terminology, you MIGHT find someone willing to work with you as a trainee, but that is difficult.
Any way you look at it, it will be several years before you can expect much if any income. In my experience, most MTs make between $12-$20 an hour, depending on their speed and luck finding the right job, and years of training.
I work two part-time jobs
and that seems to keep it more interesting for me. I work on two different platforms. One is a small hospital where I am an IC, and the other is an MTSO where my account is a huge hospital. I think having to juggle the two jobs, supervisors, etc., keeps me more distracted. But, yeah, it can get really boring at times.
I quit for 2 years a few years ago because I was seriously burned out and felt brain dead, but when I started looking for work again could not stand the thought of going to an office, so here I am again.

I work part time for the same place and same account I started as a newbie 1-1/2 years ago. I cannot find a job with more work because I either don't have 2 years exp or I don't have acute care exp. I have sent numerous resumes. So far now I am destined to make very little income while gaining the exp I need for a better job. Thank God my husband has a good job.
1. Approximately $600.
2. This is just one job only part time sometimes as little as 11 hours a week. On a good week 20 hours. Haven't seen 20 hours in a while.
3. Rate is .075 cpl.
4. About $2500 for food and bills and gas.
5. I would be $1,900 short of enough to make it if it wasn't for husband. :( All I can do is keep trying and maybe in 6 more months when I have the 2 year exp. someone will actually hire me. Believe me I have applied at SO many places.

My husband just signed up for group life insurance with work which will give him 10x his salary if
he dies which will leave the kids and I with almost a million bucks if he dies. Of course I would much rather have him here more than anything. He had just 150,000 in insurance but for some reason just opted for this group thingie. When talking last night I asked him if he died if I could marry again and this man got so upset with me I thought he was going to cry! He told me absolutely, positively NOT that I could not remarry ( am 31!). He is 35. LOL
Poor guy. Leaving me all this money and I supose the thought of me sharing his wealth with someone else makes him sick!!
I told him he could go ahead and marry if I should happen to die. I want my kiddies to have a great mom and person who loves them very much. Wouldn't you agree?

off schedule according to you. I can work when I want, that's what an IC does. Yes, if we're working at the same time then we're both working, that's what we do. You presume too much to think that people who don't work regular set hours and who work when they want to make their line counts are also cherry pickers. Getting petty here and this sounds like it's just to start trouble. Bravo!

You're right about the "prehistoric" part! The place I used to work (sm)
uses Lanier, and it's a mess. It's WORSE than prehistoric. It was down more than it was up. It was also not at all friendly for at-home MTs, either.
They'll send an email out when they need extra work done.
The bonuses are tied to taking on extra work on top of your regular workload, not production or longevity. It's per extra shift or per extra report on backlogged accounts. Call and talk to them if you have any questions.
