I'm with you

I'm right there with you.  I make decent money on a clinic account and I can do anywhere from 200 to 300 lph.  Not often for the 300, but it does happen occasionally.    I'm working on it.

I worked in house last summer for a large practice that was about 30 minutes from my house.  I made $14 an hour (compared to the $19 an hour they were paying the "experienced" ladies who were much slower than I was, but that's a whole other discussion.)  It took 2 tanks of gas a month in a 15 gallon tank to get there and back.  Don't even get me started on all of the office "parties" they wanted us to contribute to.   The medical records area I was in probably had 20 people.  We had ice cream socials, birthday luncheons, pot lucks just for fun.  It was like they wanted to do something every pay day.   Who the he!! has the $$ for that?  I mean, seriously.  Then there was Halloween and everyone dressed up.  Everyone but me, that is.  People spent money they didn't have to buy costumes.  Then all of the departments were asked to contribute to a big practice-wide pot luck type luncheon for Halloween.  I served on the organizing committee, so I figured that was my contribution.

I am much happer at home.  I make more $$ (when I focus and work and don't spend time on a message board ).  I do it on my schedule since I'm an IC.   I don't have health insurance right now, which sucks, but then I've had a lot of periods in my life where I didn't have it before.  I just make sure I don't get sick and if I do, I go to the doctor and pay them.  I don't have the office politics to deal with - being told not to trust the people in the area where they're moving you, and then being expected to be all lovey and have the office parties with them.  Huh.  No thanks.  I'll take working at home any day over that.  I think I'd have to be dragged kicking and screaming back in house again.

I have a roof over my head, the cats and I have food, and my black anti-social heart doesn't have to deal with people if I don't want to.  It really doesn't get much better than that.
