 I don't see how in the world some of these people think that $2000 a month as an IC will pay the bills and live 'comfortably.'  Just setting aside the monthly amount for quarterly taxes alone is $600 or more depending on the state you live in.  So then that leaves you $1400 a month to provide your own health insurance, pay your rent/mortgage, pay your utility bills, your ISP, pay your car payment/repairs/upkeep/registration/insurance, buy gasoline, pay for your groceries, pay for your reference materials and monthly work supplies, AND maybe...just maybe have some money for entertainment.   
 Sure your expenses are a write-off, but you still have to come up with the money for them throughout the month.  Just don't see it on 1 income.   Sorry.
