that all ties in with Voice Recognition - some day there will be just templates that are merely filled in and we will not be needed at all, I do not think even as editors. Perhaps not in our lifetime, but remember that is the focus of every health supplier - rid the cost of transcription.

and you have just even proven more why they probably will do everything electronically and the doctors will be 100% responsible for their own reports.

I found a site where one of original MTs (name being withheld) for years already is actually in some capacity working with a company (or owns it) pushinig for a lot of this newer technology such as POS (point of service) where the doctor uses a hand-held and enters information in as he is seeing a patient...no notes, no dictation, just data entry...

Frustration
Do any of you just sometimes feel like pulling your hair out because a doctor makes you so irritated!?  This doctor kept on yawning and my gosh if I could see her i would slap her!  And then so freakin' picky.  Insert this here and insert that there.  They just make something as difficult as possible.  Ugh....i just need to go to bed.  I'm too ill to even type anymore.

can't seem to get up to 125-150 lph no matter how hard I try. The dictators are great, people are nice. I've been moved around a couple of times, but I truly think my difficulty lies with their word expander. I just can't seem to work without a standalone expander. I was so used to it before. I guess memorizing and making each and every one of my shortcuts just isn't my cup of tea. I can do it, but I like to be able to see on the screen which words to choose, etc.
I understand your frustration but how did they
exactly what kind are you referring to? Losers of what kind? That's the part that makes no sense.

God touch the heart of the ones who lack compassion. Thank you for the kindhearted who give and give and thank you for those who want to give but simply can't. And so it is.

we recently had a very similar situation in my community with punks shooting an elderly person when he opened the door to what he thought was trick or treaters. 


You did say that 1 of 4 was from an area hit by Katrina.  But, the other 3 are local youths.

For some people it is really hard not to notice injustices done to the sick and poor.  Bless you for being a caring person.  Having a soft heart is one of the things that make this job harder for some.  Keep in mind that the folks on this board can be ruthless.  I agree that it is not your place to pass judgment on the doctors but I also totally understand where you are coming from.  It really might be better to find a new group to work for than to keep having your heart broken over this. 


And next time you need to vent....tell the dog (if you have one) instead of becoming a target for all these arrows!!!! 


I feel your frustration
I have been trying to hire an MT for some time now.  The problem I find is that no one seems to know how to put a sentence together.  The last MT I hired actually told me that she had been working for a hospital and they didn't care if she had run on sentences or left numbers dangling at the end of a line, just as long as the medical terms were correct.  This means she was only doing the minimum of what was required of her and she had no knowledge of the rules included in the BOS.  I should mention that she was transcribing letters for me, so sentence structure was a little more important to me.  What happened to taking pride in your work?  I have actually stopped marketing to try to get new accounts because I just cannot find anyone I can trust to do a good job.  I could vent for days on this subject.  I'm sure there are some good MTs out there, and I would like to think I am one of those good MTs, but after months of searching I have been unable to find one.
Total frustration
I'm doing the worst report I have ever run across, it's brain surgery and I've never done one before and I don't know the anatomy, it's cold in Ohio, I killed my back last week on OT and I can't walk and I feel totally unloved and I can't get a break on my line count and I'm miserable.  Please don't correct my grammar or spelling, I'm not up to it right now.

but after working inhouse I know they the med recs departments know of the problem and do try to talk to the doctors about it. most doctors just think they are above some things. I also know that sometimes the doctors and med recs departments don't set the TAT, the CEO or board of directors do based on JHACO and other audits. They also do build in some requirements for physician's to get things done in a timely manner and physician do get cited but (at least where I worked) it meant little to nothing. The physicians had no problem taking the slap on the hand for being late on dictation.
I don't understand all this frustration with VR...
if those VR jobs came out perfectly WITHOUT needing the corrections, that is the day we will be out of jobs! For now, I am glad VR is what it is, I will make the changes and get paid for them. We should be thankful!

Companies do not seek out single people to put on the worst accounts, nor 2-income families for their best accounts.

We all have good and bad dictators.

I would tell her this and not be joking, but show her some frustration
I would tell her that the clients are not going to pay for jobs that are not turned in when they are supposed to be turned in and that you need someone that is going to transcribe the reports and have them turned in on time because you are losing money paying her to transcribe reports that the clients are not going to pay for because they are late. Surely, she will understand. Either she has the jobs returned on time or you are going to have to let the client go or hire someone else to transcribe and return the jobs in on time and if she keeps it up, tell her that you lost the account because of jobs being turned in late and that you do not have any other clients available for her to transcribe.
I understand your frustration, but (see inside)
you probably paid for the air flight, etc, but we have been so burned with taking jobs where we found we with experience were given all the ESLs so the less experienced could do the dictation, made less money because of it, etc. I personally am so burned out in this profession I just needed to answer you. You are probably one of the few that really wanted to train properly, most of us don't get that. I am sorry this happened to you but read some of the posts here. There is no excuse for people not following up to you - that is not being responsible, but try to understand that most of us cannot just take off work to fly somewhere for training. I could not personally, I have no family am single. You sound like very responsible owners and I do not like what happened to you, but try to understand that so many of us have been burned with companies telling us one thing and then doing another. Don't give up on us, we are a very loyal breed when we are treated fairly.
Have no solution but share your frustration! sm
And it's also frustrating there's no option to type your own correction while in spell check.  I DO hope someone can educate us on this!

am i using this software incorrectly? because it seems like my autocorrect is better than this. any suggestions? any tips for making glossaries? I'm confused , and when i type for phrases, no matching phrases come up! i'm getting really frustrated.
I understand your frustration but this is happening in all fields.
It affects every work situation as technology advances, etc.

The fact is one cannot expect to have a lifelong career in any one line of work without experiencing some times of either changing with the flow or stepping into another line of work.

Microsoft Word 2007 Frustration!!!
Every time I hit 'enter' to go to the next line (a return), it double spaces. How do I get it to just single space?
