Sorry, don't know about Cort Medical,
are they in Wisconsin also? Also, do you do SLMC ER for Accustat?
MDI Florida, Medical INK, AccuStat Carolinas, Proveras, Sten-Tel, Focus,
and I think that is all. Maybe someone else can list others - these are the ones I know.

Good luck.
Accustat LLC does anyone work for them
Does anyone know if the pay if 1/2 each pay check of your total lines?
Be wary of Accustat as well..that is if it is Accustat carolinas.

Accustat Carolinas/ Accustat EMR
This company doesn't pay their MTs properly. Work at your own risk. See if they pay.
Offer to do the work for free. You have not done something that has not been done before.

You are NOT allowed to offer your work here.

Do they offer MT work? Their website shows they only want

Any Cort MTs that could help me?
I'm working on netcare and I need to find account specifics and examples, please help if anyone can
Cort
I have been working for Cort since last May. I have had issues with checks bouncing, but I was reimbursed for every bank fee that I incurred. CorT is a small company. Everyone there has treated me with kindness and respect. I am not hounded to produce an extreme amount of lines and my hours are always flexible. I feel that small pay issues are a little sacrifice to be able to work for a company that truely cares about its employees and goes to every extent to correct its wrongs. CorT is the only company that was willing to give me a chance as a newbie. So, I had a check bounce, so what! At least I am getting checks!!!!!
Happy with CorT
Hi.  I've heard good things about Accustat, but I don't know much about them.  I have been with CorT for four months.  Two months of that was in their internship program, where their management and QA were extremely patient and helpful.  When I first started their there was some financial trouble due to a big account not paying them, but it got worked out.  They paid me for all my work and have been on time ever since.  They seem to be a really good-hearted group of people that really care about their employees.  I hope to be able to stay with them:)  The advice I have seen is to try to stay with both until you see what the new company is like and make sure it's a good fit for you.  I don't know if that is possible for you or not.  GOOD LUCK!
Cort employee posted just a (sm)
few weeks ago.  Their website indicates they only charge clients 9 cpl.  How much is your friend planning on making?  See link below from current employee.
Offer 1 week notice, but willing to offer 2 if they would be in a bind. Also, (sm)
make sure your resignation letter is written with class.  Never good to burn your bridges.
Does anyone work as medical coder who
can answer a few questions?  1) Has anyone transitioned from MT to coder and, if so, how does it compare salary-wise? 2)  Can it be done at home as MT can?  3) How long to train and ease of securing job as newbie?  There seems to be a big demand these days in comparison with MT jobs.  After 15+ years as an MT, I'm wondering if that would be a better way to go??   Would appreciate any info!
Medical Malpractice lawyer work

I've read here before about some MTs who work for RNs transcribing their notes for medical malpractice lawyers, particularly in So Cal.  If anyone out there can give me more info such as need, what to charge, how to find, etc, I would be so grateful---I'm an MT/editor/quality auditor with 10 years' experience needing to make more money out of my skills.

Thanks!

Does Shorthand work with Medical Spellcheckers?

Just getting to know the Expander program "Shorthand", and saw that it says to shut off all spell-checkers.  Does that mean that I cannot run Spellex or another Medical Spell Check program with it?  Has anyone any suggestions as to what they use?   Or any "work-arounds"

I am just getting started and trying to decide if I like "As-U-Type" or "Shorthand" better as my word expander.  It seems that "Shorthand" does not act like a spell-checker like "As-u-Type" does, so need to add one.....preferrably a medical one.

If it is a medical office, they should have one as we all sign one when we work there -- nm
...
Yeah, but medical personnel who actually work directly with
patients are a bit "different" like that. They think nothing of taking a look or having a touch here and there. And the morbid senses of humor many of them have. My friends from high school are both RNs now, but they're like that.
ALL of the clinics I work on use SS #s as medical record numbers, and many of them cc to the
patient at their home address, which is conveniently typed at the bottom of the report.  Seems pretty straight-forward to us, then why can't the govt figure this out and put a stop to it?
I seriously doubt that type of work is as complex as medical reports.
nm
Yes, it's Independent Medical which are normally work comp related and Looooooong...
but very interesting.
accustat
I have never heard of Cort Medical but I have been with AccuStat for 6 monhs now and I love it. The freedom they give is great and the pay is always on time. Tough choice. I would do both!!
AccuStat MT
AccuStat is indeed a great company....I have a LOT of people that will agree believe me...we have all been with them for a month to many years and we all love the company...maybe you were one of the fired ones..all the fired MTs write bad things...
ACCUSTAT EMR
Does anyone have info on this company (South Carolina).
Accustat
This company didn't pay me as well.  I guess they pay a lot of MTs well yet miss payments on a lot of other MTs.  I got another friend that they didn't pay as well.
Still with Accustat EMR?
Are you still with Accustat EMR? I am contemplating IC position with them.
I like Accustat Carolinas but some do not
Not everyone fits everywhere, I'm treated just fine,,, In my opinion they have different accounts and I think it depends what they put you on... I love my account
AccuStat is awesome!!
They not only have great accounts but they care about their MTs. I love them and I think you are crazy to go anywhere else!!!
AccuStat has accounts that use this!
nm
AccuStat Wisconsin
Does anyone know if they have clinic work? TIA!
accustat emr (carolina)
they don't pay properly. aside from the cheap pay. you might just waste your time and money.
Accustat has been good to me
Another MT called me and told me that people were talking bad about Accustat. I am aware of MANY MTs that are very happy with this company. Good work equals good pay, on time, every time!! I recommend them to anyone!!
Soft Script and Accustat

I am busting my hump trying to learn SS (I am a newbie with some experience but under a year) and I also am an IC for Accustat, now I have to really work for hours on end to try to get a line count for SS and on my Accustat its a nice account where I can have a line count with normal speed and hardly any ESL's

So basically here is my problem should I keep working for SS ( i have had no problems with pay, of course I don't make much of a line count) or should I just do my Accustat account and quit SS

Did I forget to mention I also have a day job....lol (My hope is to just MT and make some money someday)

SS takes out taxes and IC does not so I going to just go with SS but reading all of these posts makes me think just do my IC job for awhile and stop working three jobs busting my but

Transcript US, Spheris, AccuStat

Does anyone have any current information about Transcript USA, Spheris, or AccuSTAT of Wisconsin?  I have13+ years and I'm looking to leave my current employer (six years at a national).  My eyes are swimming trying to figure out the ins and outs of these companies.

Thanks so much!!

2 jobs Accustat and Soft Script
I cannot work for Soft Script anymore the dictators are the worst I have ever heard and Accustat has the best !!!!!!  I think I know which job to go with
AccuSTAT in Wisconsin. Great company, IC only. nm

AccuStat EMR/carolinas is a great company!!
AccuStat EMR/Carolinas is a great company!! I can give you names of over 30 MTs besides my own that get paid with no problems!! They do not pay if work is late or of por quality but that is told to us before we start. If you did not get paid, your work must have been bad!! They do pay and they do not lie. Amazing when people get so upset with a company for not being paid...is usually the MTs fault!! This blog doesn't show that though.
If it is Accustat Carolinas..Yes that's true..among the other not so good things.

AccuSTAT in Wisconsin is hiring for an ER account. See the Job Bank for specifics. IC position. NM

AccuStat of Wisc. uses Lanier, not sure how part time it is. Had a recent job posting here. Go

I would buy new a Dorland's Medical Dictionary, Stedmans Medical and Surgical Equipment...SM

and Tessier's The Surgical Word Book, 3rd edition.  Books you could buy used I would say would be Stedman's Pathology and Lab Medicine and Cardiology/Pulmonary word book.  These are all the books I use the most during my day.  You could buy other speciality word books as you need them and could probably go used with those.

I wouldn't bother with buying a drug book, new editions come out every year and I just stick to the FDA website and RXList as my drug references.

Also FYI, not a book, but I use my Stedman's Electronic Medical Dictationary a lot.  It's easier to open the program than it is to pick up a huge 30-pound dictionary.

Medical Transcription In The Era Of Electronic Medical Records
EMR has revolutionized the healthcare industry in recent times. Many experts felt that EMR & Voice Recognition would totally replace Medical Transcription - however; the industry soon realized that transcription has certain advantages over point & click charting and many physicians preferred to dictate notes rather than document the data at the point of care themselves.
At ease, soldier! This isn't a medical document. I repeat, this isn't a medical document. nm

I've thought about coding. My DH does medical coding and I think with an MT's medical termino

background and anatomy and physiology knowledge, a transition into coding wouldn't be hard at all.  From what I can tell by looking through my husband's books, an MT would have to learn insurance regulations and legalities.  We've basically got all the medical background down or we should be if we're worth our salt as an MT.

I even contacted AHIMA and found that the qualifications for taking the CCS or CCP coding exams are completion of the a coding program, RHIT program, or RHIA or related work experience.  Transcription is part of HIM, albeit the red-headed stepchild of the HIM department, but a part nonetheless and so satisfies the qualification of having work experience.

The test is tough though.  My husband didn't pass it his first time out and I think I read something like only 20% or so pass it the first time.  So it would probably be best to take some sort of formal coding class, in my opinion.

Can I offer something? sm

I have a 13 yo boy.  He sounds much like your daughter, wonderful kid, straight A's very much likes to hang with the family, etc.  Never had a problem with him.  However, he knows that I mean business.  If a child is going to sneak and do stuff that he/she knows parents won't like I say give them a consequence to remember.  Maybe you either have to take a few days off work and go to school with your daughter, explaining to her that since she cannot be trusted you need to attend class with her to be sure everything is going okay or take everything away from her and let her know that since she is not being responsible enough to come to you and she feels the need to sneak things past you, you have felt the need to remove material possessions from her life until she can become responsible enough to handle it.  She is giving in to peer pressure which of course we know will only get worse.  Emphasize to her that she is number one to you, you love her too much to allow anybody to influence her the wrong way or to let her waste one day of her life doing things that will not benefit her.  She is God's gift to the earth and she should treat herself as such and expect others to treat her the same.  If her friends do not respect that her parents will not allow her to do certain things, than those friends need to go bye bye.  I know this sounds tough but guess what, you are not raising an 11 yo you are raising a strong, wonderful, beautiful, smart, wise woman, she is only 11 for 365 days.

Lastly I want to applaude you for even caring. When my son was in sixth grade a mother of a girl he goes to school with showed up at the awards assembly and was taking pictures of my son.  I sat down beside her and when I cheered for my son as he got an award she said "oh is that your son" to which I replied "yes it is" and she said "oh my daughter is so in love with him, that is why I am taking so many pictures"  I just wanted to punch her, what is she teaching her daughter by doing that?  I explained to her that my son was 11 and had no time for girls, he was heavily involved in basketball and church and would not be allowed to spend time with girls for quite a few years.  She was appalled at what I said.  I walked away, hoping she would think about it before her daughter met up with a boy whose parents don't expect the standards to be quite so high.

Job offer
Are you kidding? There are people out there who do QA with many years of experience who don't make that. Jump at the chance.
You might ask them if they offer (sm)

combat pay or double or even triple time to come in whenever needed.

Got a job offer
I got an offer today.  As you stated, I requested to be paid for headers/footer, etc. and that was acceptable to them.  Right now, I'm not getting any work from any of my other jobs and haven't for the past month or so.  I think this is their downtime or something, which doesn't pay my bills.  I don't know whether it's smart to take the job w/CyMed or not being that this company offshores work.  However, I'm a single parent trying to make ends meet any way I can -- even if it means accepting less than desired.  Any suggestions?  I would greatly appreciate it.
Got my offer.
They offered me 9 cpl. I think that's okay. Been out of the biz for a while. I would like to be an IC someday....
My DH had a job offer there once...
We traveled there to check it out and by the day we left, I was TOTALLY against going there.  But it's highly individual.  I can't stand living out in the middle of nowhere, which was where we were going to end up (Evanston), with a 2 hour drive one direction to SLC down out of the mountains and 2 hours in any other direction to "nowhere."  If that wasn't bad enough, the clincher was the park ranger in Evanston who told us that winter up at that altitude is basically 10 months.  ENOUGH for me, DONE, FINISHED, I was OUTTA there.  It snows until June and starts back up in September.  That may be different in Laramie or other places, but up on that continental shelf high altitude area of southwestern Wyoming, it's COLD!  We didn't move there.
