if mt paid 9, editor paid 4 or 5...how can company charge 14 and make it..sm

I know the going rate in our area is 14 cents per line.  As MTs most companies here pay us 8 or 9 cents a line.  Now add in the Editor rate at 4 or 5 per line..you are paying OUT more than you can charge a line.  How would companies stay in biz?

Unless all work is sent by the company overseas at pennies per line, this would not pay for a company.

just curious how this works out

We have templates where I work but - sm
we get paid for all that (no spaces though). They do the templates because is it what the doctors want at the hospital I type for; they all have specific needs. They put in jump markers {} that we jump to using Alt-F (WP 5.1), so it is very easy to get through. On a account of my own I did the same thing on the template I made up for myself for 1 of my docs in MS Word, jump from spot to spot, very easy. If you can save the template and make your own "markers" to jump to, yes, you still have to delete unused ones but boy is it a lot easier.
Does this work on all templates....sm
I have been trying to figure that one out. How do I keep from having to take my mouse and skip to the next field? I suppose F11 is it. Thanks I will try it.
But how much are the US EDs gonna be paid? Typically this work is paid at 2-3 cpl. nm

10$ late if invoice is not paid within 10 days. At day 15 work stops until invoice is paid. Hardly
xx
Does the company get paid for the
templates? If they get paid for the lines, so should you. There are a few templates where I work and they pay for them. Why do them for nothing? Actually, you do them for less than nothing as you are losing money if they take away the lines.

To answer your question, if you are doing a lot of templates which take your time and then they subtract the templates, no, in my opinion, you don't make it up by typing for a company that only pays average, which generally means poor.

Did any of you not get paid by a trans. company?

This transcription company that I might work for says if you don't maintain 98% accuracy or higher for three consecutive work days, you won't get paid for those days that you don't maintain the 98% accuracy rate.

Has that ever happened to any of you?  Do you think it's a bad situation to get involved in?

Not all QA is paid per line. My company pays
per hour and pays VERY well.
you didn't ask me, but email me and i will tell you what company i get paid for doing logs with..
@
For QA consulting I'm paid per hour; QA instructing (college) paid salary, QA editing paid per li
I am an IC and work for two different MTSOs as well as instruct at a business college.
You don't want to work for this company. Call your current company and
tell them that you have decided against the new position and tell them that you would like to stay. It is cheaper for them to let you stay than to train someone new. A company who could be so tacky as the one you just spoke of is one you do not want to work for. You can rescind your resignation. If you are a good MT, they will be glad you did.
If you search the posts, I think the Company board, you will find that the monies paid to AAMT

for CMT/RMT cerifications are being used to offer "India" rates to workers in India to test for their CMT/RMT cerifications. I REFUSE TO BELONG TO SAID ORGANIZATION AND I WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE MY HARD-EARNED FUNDS TO HELPING INDIANS GET CREDENTIALED.

All I know is it caused the company I work for to be unable to do all work due today and the rest
:+
I don't work for MQ but you should get paid for
the blank line too because you have to hit a key to get that line (enter).
you should never not get paid for work you do
Does it state that in you contract? If so, leave that MTSO fast.
Every day you work you get paid a sm
certain amount. If you don't have work on a day, you don't get paid. Best to clear that up with the specific physician or service you are working for. Basically, per diem, means per day, but it can be interpreted differently, and you need to know the specifics.
Not paid for work done...
Hi>  I am seeking any advice on what to do about not being paid for work done.  I have not received a paycheck from the company for two months, 4 payperiods.  Now, they will not return my emails and have stopped sending work.  Any ideas on how to handle this situation or what to do?  Thanks.
i used to work for a company that divided the work types up and i loved it. sm
there were only 4 of us working a major teaching hospital. someone was assigned surgery, different assigned discharges, different admits, etc. we all had the backup work type in case the original assignee wasn't available and were cross trained. it made us much more efficient, ability to get used to dictators, set macros, and in the long run we were all much happier.
The company I work for said cable phone wouldn't work, just FYI.

Work in the southeast and we got paid for it.nm

If you did work, and were not paid, your state -
Labor Board says she MUST pay you. Or, you can go to small claims court and attach something of value that she owns: car, boat, computer, big-screen HD TV, etc. Being in the hospital is no excuse for an MTSO or anyone else not to pay an employee. You did the work in good faith, now she must pay you for your services.
Are you paid hourly? If so, I'm surprised they allow you to work with such little ones.
 r
I get paid hourly $18.00. The hospital I work at don't believe sm
in production because of the error rate, blanks, etc. just to make money. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo happy.
Depends on where you work and how you're paid
kj
MTSO I work for, get paid by the line.
x
I work for 3 docs and am paid by the line
One doc will do 30 lines in 1 1/2 mins. and another will do 30 lines in 7 mins. Quite frankly I hate working for that particular doc. He ummms and ahhhhs and shuffles papers constantly. I definitely feel cheated when I type his charts.
I get paid hourly and I work at home
They expect me to work 7-1/2 hours a day and I do, but they do let me spread it out over the course of the day. I work four hours in the morning, two in the afternoon and the other one and a half in the evening. I can leave and go to an appointment and make that time up in the evenings also. But then again, when I don't have any work I still get paid.
getting paid is showing appreciation for my work. that's all i care about.
who cares if some supervisor "appreciates" me?  i'm in it for the money not for someone to "appreciate" me.
Not worth it if you work your fingers to the bone and then never get paid
Good luck
How many hours a day do you work? Are you still paid per gross line?

Not saying I don't believe you.  One has to consider too that you have 20 years of experience, that makes a BIG difference in production.  I'm about four times faster now than I was when I first started out.  Newbies need to consider this too when contemplating MT as a career.

I will challenge the law. I am paid by piece work and that is excluded.
sheesh
Nope, happy to be paid 30,000 a yr to work less than 8 hrs a day, in the comfort of my bedroom,

I do radiology now, paid by the hour, work from home, can it get any easier than that?

That should highest paid work at home jobs...look at number 7 to see the pic and listing!
That picture sure made me laugh. :)
I don't work for MQ but that happened to me once at the company where I work and
my next two paychecks were shorted out of what they had overpaid me for that pay period. I hope they don't take it out of your hide. It was hard to budget for that month!
Company I work for has to pay fines for work out of TAT.
x
I work as an IC, work when I want, but I still let the company know if I am going to be unavailable
for any length of time, even though I don't have to.
I also want a living wage for MTs. Don't mind hard work and longer hours, just want to be paid

What company do you work for? Maybe some of
nm
work for a company

When work is low at my company I have

volunteered several times to just work half a day, or take the day off so that another MT who needs the lines more than I do can have the opportunity to at least get in a full day of work.

I don't often have a day where I can't get all my lines in though and there are usually lots of days where I could type 24/7.   My work is assigned to me and I have no idea what any MTs workload may be on any given day.  Most of the time I work extra if the workload warrants it, but there are days too that work may be slow at the beginning of my shift and I'm just not able to work more later in the day to make up the lines.  I'm not complaing about not getting work, but I also don't believe that I need to fit my life and family around my work on a regular basis.  I believe that when an MT is hired FT and the company has expectations of how many lines a day they want the MT to produce, then it is reasonable for the MT to expect work.  I know the business is feast or famine, but if an MT who if FT and wants to work is consistently not getting enough work during their scheduled shift then there is a problem.

I'm very good at what I do, but I work to live, not live to work, and I don't remember signing anything that said I agreed that my life/family came second to MTing.

Any company that has work right
x
we must work for the same company
The little scale at the top of the page actually calculates total lines, but we do it separately I believe because of keeping track of what each MT does on the log. I keep the log up and type it in as I go and don't fool with writing it down.
Who is the best company to work for?
Can someone please tell me someone you work and are happy.  I have 8 years' experience in multi-specialty clinic and acute care (except op notes) and want somewhere with good pay and steady work.  I'm tired of bouncing from company to company after they lose your account and don't have enough work to keep you busy.  HELP!  I am so frustrated with this field.  When things are going good, I can do 2000 lines a day and be happy, but then every 6 months or so things go bad with that company and its a few months of transition after things fall apart.  I'm about to lose my mind.  Thanks in advance for the suggestions
RE: Who is the best company to work for?
Transcend.
company while i work
My baby, Simon, (lhasa-poo), loves to lay right up against my foot while I work.   You are right - makes me love working at home!  What a blessing.
Best company(ies) to work for?sm
I know this subject has probably been posted b4, but I could use some good advice.  It's time for me to move on and I am looking around and would appreciate any advice on who is good to work for.  I have considerable experience.
Wonder if we work for the same company?
Your story sounds very much like mine. I would be digging out all the garbage docs every day on my secondary while my primary had plenty of work. I was also made to feel *special* because not every MT can do the harder accounts. I want to start pretending that I can only do the easy docs and let someone else do the harder ones. I leave my office pretty frustrated and wiped out at the end of my day now doing nearly all the really tough accounts. How is this fair? Either pay them less if they cannot do them or pay me more!
Anyone work as an IC for more than 1 company?

I'm wondering how this would work out.  I am an IC for a company, but don't have enough work in my specialty.  I'm not as productive, obviously, when doing a different specialty and am losing money when picking up the left-over work.

Are there others out there who do specialty work as an IC for 2 or more companies?  Of even do work for a company and also pick up your own accounts that are not through a company?  How has it worked out for you?  Do MTSOs usually dislike this or are they generally okay with it.  I just don't see myself being able to make a living if I have to keep switching gears when there are no jobs for my specialty.

Thank you for any replies/insight.

11.5 cpl and work for a company.

The company I work for does not allow sm
you to download their platform onto another computer. They supply the equipment, and if I want to travel, I have to take their CPU with me.
