I don't know much about computers, but I've been feeling my way through for awhile now (and gotten some great help from some people on this site).
Personally, if McAfee isn't doing anything for me, I would get rid of it. Go to your start menu, control panel, and security. If it does not say McAfee is doing anything for you, I would uninstall it (as long as you are not planning on renewing your subscription with them).
I found a free antivirus from PC Tools, so no need to pay for one with McAfee, right? It's worth a try. Good luck!
