Went thorugh having to pay fines and fees related to an IRA many years ago - I do know that IRS is never included in bankruptcy - you need to speak to the lawyer who helped you he gave you wrong advice - also - if you make contact with the IRS they will accept payment and stop adding fees and fines - but you have to be on top of your payment. I also advise you to save every piece of paper from the IRS for years - they keep trying to come at me - but I send them copies of their paperwork and the receipts and they let it go for a year or two - been paid for 10 years and they often try to tell me I owe again.
