If you go to this site they share dictionaries - sm
If you go to productivity talk they have a forum on there where people share their dictionaries. I picked up one for ShortHand on there that was full of drug shortcuts and another for sutures. Not a spell check per say but at least its something.
Onelook.com is an excellent dictionary site. :) NM

Use onelook.com to look stuff up and then pick up Dorland's, etc. off of there. Great site! nm

okay, I think I found it on their news site...sm

Apparently, it's when using as debit.  They can freeze your account for X amount of money until the debit amount is payed to the creditor.  Woman had $16.00 in gas and they froze her account for $75.00.

You can see all different sorts of animals.  It's fun to check back often and see what's happening.  Enjoy!  I enjoy the sounds almost as much as I do looking at the animals.
I found some at the AAMT site. Thanks anyway! nm

I found one site that had a picture but it's not his car. There are a couple of other games sm
there, though.  It's www.gordononline.com/kids/kids.html.  There's one picture to color but it's a sprint car.  I hope this helps a little.  I'm a Jeff Gordon fan, too.
This is the best site I've found about treating fibromyalgia. It works for me, maybe it will for

I found an India MT site - cbay thread is especially interesting...

most of these are old but the CBay post is fairly new...even the MTs in India do not seem to be treated fairly...I imagine there is a lot of abuse over there also.

Too bad we could not unionize them and us together...would that ever be possible you think?

Dictionaries and expanders, sm
I have a few questions on dictionaries and expanders. I have been working for MQ for the past two years. I have added a lot of words to the spell checker dictionary, and I have a lot of shortcuts, does anyone know if there is a program that I can use with MS Word that will allow me to import these. The files are .tlx, .aco and .ocx. I am going IC and will be using my own computer. I was just trying to find a program to get set up on (even if I cannot use what I have already saved), that will be the most benefit for me in the future. I also have a laptop, so I would like a program I can use on both computers without having to pay a fortune to do so.

TIA ;D
Help! My dictionaries ae disabled!

I recently upgraded to MS Word Pro and now my dictionaries are disabled.  I'm almost positive that I worked in Word after the upgrade and they were fine, but this morning they are gone. When I look (Spelling>Options>Custom Dictionaries) I see my Stedman's listed and also a Custom listed which I think may be the words I have okayed (not really sure if that was there before).  They are both checked.  The custom was default so I changed Stedman's to default, but still Word is not recognizing any medical terms and is marking them all - good gravy!  Hoping someone with a bit more tech expertise than me can help me figure out what could be wrong?  TIA!

These are Directories, not dictionaries,

Do you have a favorite on-line dictionary?  I'm looking for both medical and non-medical.  Thanks.

All you do is on your other computer with your dictionaries....inside
copy whatever you named your SPF file, like I have a main SPF file and another for dictation macros for the account I am on. Just copy them to a flash drive or whatever medium you use to backup your SPF file, plug your flash drive (which is what I use)and then when it comes up on your computer where you need your SPF file, copy it and put it in your ShortHand file. You could have copied your whole Shorthand file and then put it on your new computer or new hard drive (that is what I do because I don't like the new Shorthand versions). Hope I explained this clearly.
Dumb question, but why are there med dictionaries for each state? nm

onelook.com. That is where to look:) nm

I like onelook.com nm

Onelook.com is my most used! SM
If I can only hear the ending of something or at least the first letter of it, I put p*losis and will give me options, which the word is usually there. That goes for drugs or anything. It's great for definitions also, hence the name One look. I actually found the site from someone on here. You can also customize it so it starts looking in medical books first and not general and will give you those dictionaries.

flocculence is listed on onelook.com-sm
and has a definition of being flocculent which means having a fluffy character or appearance. I am by no means saying in my previous statment that this is a medical transcription standard but simply stating what I have found in my research of this. I also would like to know for sure if this is correct or not if anyone knows.

I have many, many doctors who frequently state, "There is no fluctuance on palpation of the wound." I have been typing fluctuance all this time and just ignoring spell check because it is used so frequently, so if this is wrong, any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
Use onelook.com. You can find just about all things there. nm

Try the Word board or onelook.com with fl*quinone

Also onelook.com as the Dorland's links right off there. Book would be Tessier's Surgical Word

Oh, I found it really creepy when you said you found the flowers not so skillfully arranged on your
steps, and from your own flower bed.  That's what I was worried about, having gone thru some psycho kids myself with my pups.  Someone's been in your yard and in your garden and at your door without your knowledge.  Its just creepy to me, and I'd still be very, very careful.  Especially valid sounded the other MTs warning you about potential fake molestation charges.  You just NEVER know nowadays, and these people have already turned on you big time once. Luckily (though I don't believe in luck), you had it on film to save yourself and your puppy.  You might not be that lucky next time, and the whole thing just sounds very unstable to me right now.  I know you feel sorry for the little girl, but probably the only time I have ever made BAD decisions regarding my life is when I felt sorry for someone, particularly kids.  My son even has an evil kid in his life, but one who has a million reasons for sympathy, and I was saying how we should "be bigger" than the situation and invite this kid over to play.  Thankfully, I regained my sanity long enough to remember - ever time I have done something like that on a personal basis for someone just because I feel sorry for them AFTER horrible behavior, it has always been a disaster... Be kind, but you don't have to risk your family again. Be kind from a distance.  Its sorry she went thru this horrible experience, but YOU didn't cause it, and its not really your problem.  But it could be your problem if this kid acts out in your life.  Know what I mean?
Several companies still train on site. In fact, we are piloting an on-site training sm
program, where everyone would come in to the Keystrokes office to train for 1 or 2 weeks. We have a large training room and feel that this may be a way to cover all aspects of an account, be right there to answer questions as they come up and have one-on-one contact.

It will be optional at this point and may not be more effective as remote training, but some people have expressed that they miss the training that you get when you start at a hospital.

We are trying to bridge that gap between working in-house somewhere and working at home.

It may seem out-dated in many ways, but sometimes going back to basics is a good step to take!
I think I found it, found multiple recipes with the same
exact ingredients so I figure this must be it.
I have noticed sometimes I will try to get into a web site and that site will freeze up and I dont

know if I have too many screens opened up and minimized or what. I tried to open a website sent by email and froze up the email screen. Not sure what I am doing.

I subscribe to another web site and within the boards on this site they have

Would anybody be interested if adminstrators would allow us to have this type of board or even put it on the main board.  Like on this other board they tell you to go to a certain web site for a coupon for 20% off Barnes and Noble or when Target has reduced prices on seasonal things.  Anybody got ideas or bargains they would like to share to save money?   We could call it the MT Stars penny-pinchers board.

Found it, Prolastin, also found

What I have found ...
is that specialties are usually easier because they are a confined, defined, specific, and more narrow scope of medical terminology, etc. As well, you will not have as many dictators to learn in a specialty field.

The more broad/general the work you transcribe, the greater the base fund of knowledge you need for knowing the terminology, medications, tests, procedures, diagnoses, treatments, symptoms, etc.

Just my experience.
I found their ad.
I see in an old post that you work PT for them?  Are they hiring any PT at all right now?  Do they consider PT to be by hours or by lines?  I can go to their website, too, if you don't get back to this.  Thank you.
found it, thanks anyway...nm

I found it as gm in BOS
per BOS, so I guess take your pick.
I FOUND OUT
I work for a hospital, not for MQ, but we use their DQS program. What they do, is go in on DocQmanage and change up how they count the lines. They use a divisor that changes. They can count or not count whatever they want, and they do it! They are literally stealing from us.
Tri-Est - Found it!
It never fails - I searched for this multiple times yesterday and again this morning.  As soon as I posted it on the board, I found it.    Sorry to have bothered you all.
I FOUND THE JOB OF MY D~R~E~A~M~S
at OSI, and I quit after a couple weeks. Control freaks, liars about off-shoring, really weird QA director, and impossible ESLs. Stay away.
