I have found nothing works for me like Lanier
Tried many others (very expensive also) and could not hear as well with any of them so I keep going back to Lanier and the best part is they're not expensive, around 25.00.

Here is the only thing I have found that works sm

Get a full 8 hours of good sleep at night.

Most people in the US, especially the female people in the US, do not get enough sleep.  We push, and push and push, and do for everyone...but not ourselves.  We stay up late trying to keep a nice house.  We cook meals, do the dishes and work.  Men don't get it.  ANY woman who works outside the home can tell you, we ALL work the second shift of housecleaning, childcare, cooking and laundry.  Men work one shift at the office and sit on their wide fat arses for the evening and complain about what they aren't getting.  Precious few will clean up in any way, shape or form.

OF COURSE you are tired and draggy at work.  Once I finally realized that I was overeating to compensate for being so very tired I looked at my fat behind and understood that sleep is more important than food.  I started insisting on 8 hours of sleep.  Guess what? I don't power nap at my desk anymore!  I have lost 40 lbs in a year and I am actually getting more done, at work and at home.

No amount of energy drink or caffeine makes up for sleep.

I tried this site and only found
contracts between an employer and transcriptionist. I need a contract between a business and a client.  thanks anyway.
Oh I see, I'm glad you found a combination that works for you! nm

found this interesting web site

Has anybody tried minutebuster.com? I just found that site. (nm)

okay, I think I found it on their news site...sm

Apparently, it's when using as debit.  They can freeze your account for X amount of money until the debit amount is payed to the creditor.  Woman had $16.00 in gas and they froze her account for $75.00.

I was addicted until I found this site (sm)
You can see all different sorts of animals.  It's fun to check back often and see what's happening.  Enjoy!  I enjoy the sounds almost as much as I do looking at the animals.
I found some at the AAMT site. Thanks anyway! nm

Thanks. I found information on web site.
www.ahdionline.org/ScriptContent/fulldisclosure.cfm
I found a site for this information
Thanks
I have not found one yet. Tried a dozen of them - nothing really works well or lasts long. nm

It's found in a few dictionaries off the onelook.com site. Use it. :) nm

Maybe it's this one. It's nonpoisonous and the site says it is often found in houses when you

Not a great site. I have found many errors on

I found that oatmeal works better than bread crumbs - moister
Happy cooking.
I use Shorthand for Windows and love it. I have found it works well with most every program. SM

I have used with Word and Word Perfect.  I have used it with Meditech and Cerner.  I have used it with RadNet and StarNavigator for Radiology.  I can use it with my email applications and on the internet if I choose.  If the Expander is open and running, you can use it with any and every window program you use.

I was really simple to learn to use too.  Very user friendly.

Can someone explain how a call-in site works, sm
for example I work for XXX and call into their web site and type directly from that site after logging it.  How does that work? Thanks.
I found one site that had a picture but it's not his car. There are a couple of other games sm
there, though.  It's www.gordononline.com/kids/kids.html.  There's one picture to color but it's a sprint car.  I hope this helps a little.  I'm a Jeff Gordon fan, too.
Thanks XXX. I found a "Microsoft Works Word Processor". You say I save those as files?

I do have a CD drive so if I can buy WORD like you mention, I can load it.

Do you think it would be beneficial in the long run to invest in WORD (maybe buy it at BEST BUY or something) and load it on my computer?  I am going to be doing lots of work, so better to use as good a program as I can as far as being able to SAVE stuff - There will be lots of opportunities for macros (or saving paragraphs, etc).  Whatever the term is these days to mean:  saving lots of words, LOL.

It's the first time i ran through your site and I found it very informative and interesting. Nice
I really appreciate what you're doing here. Very interesting site. when Table Steal Table Expect , when Opponents Expect Cards Give Good, Greedy, Central nothing comparative to Faithful , Table can Loose Stake Industrious Boy is always Faithful Girl
You're correct. Thanks! I found 2 on the SOAP transcription site

I found an India MT site - cbay thread is especially interesting...

most of these are old but the CBay post is fairly new...even the MTs in India do not seem to be treated fairly...I imagine there is a lot of abuse over there also.

Too bad we could not unionize them and us together...would that ever be possible you think?

You realize you are posting this on the main board, right? Not everyone at this site works for MQ.

I've found that most physicians who
dictate at such a ridiculous pace are trying to make up for other deficiencies....you know like "male menopause" where the older guy goes out and buys an expensive sports car, etc., etc.  Seems most of the speeders on my account are DOs, NOT MDs.....guess they feel inferior in some way.
I think most recruiters are NOT MTs. They know very little about MT from what I've found. nm

It is in NJ, which I've always found weird. nm

Without a doubt the best I've found!

I searched and searched for someone who could design a small simple site with digital dictation file upload and download capability, and www.sitefever.com made me a great site and maintains it for 40 dollars every month, and for a one time fee of $150 they custom designed what I needed to upload and download my dictation files. They have been great and I have had no problems with them at all.

Hope this helps!

I've found files sm
I have "lost" files before and found that sometimes if you click on "start" at the bottom left of your screen that you may find a temporary saved file under documents. Sometimes it doesn't save the whole document, but part is better than nothing. Probably a long shot, but thought I'd mention it.
The only way I've found to avoid this is to.....

have three part-time jobs.  I used to have one full time and two part time, but just recently went to three part time.

I NEVER run out of work now, but always have in the past six years in the business.  This works for me, but took almost a year to balance the three so I'm not working a ton of hours.

The only solution I've found is....
to just totally quit every so often, get totally out of it and if you find no new way to make money, go back to it.  The break helps, but honestly it's happened to me half a dozen times over the 20 years I've done this.  It was so challenging when I first started and I enjoyed it.  The catch-22 is when you finally get to high line counts it becomes monotonous.  What didn't help was when the line rates went into a freeze...kind of kills the motivation to sit there and type.   For me, I would get sleep attacks transcribing and would wake up almost falling out of my chair;.  More than once, I've quit and said I'm never going back.  Now I just quit for awhile but knowing deep down I may be back again.   All in all, if you can keep the right attitude, it's a great job that offers a lot of freedom as far as flexibility and freedom to travel around the country and keep a paycheck coming in.;
Yeah, that's where I'm at, too. I've found these
for half the money I used to make. And the work isn't easier, it's harder. I used to do about 8 docs that I knew like the back of my hand. I usually knew what they were going to say before they said it, because their thought patterns had become second nature to me. But now I do several accounts, hundreds of doctors, plus nurses, PA's, med-students, etc. The reports are longer, and it's all straight typing, no templates. Even though I'm home all day, far less gets done around here than before, because I always have to work if I'm going to buy food and pay my rent.
I've found, fortunately, that

those types of people are not the "norm" in the MT world or I would have quit a LONG time.  The sad thing though is they are becoming more prevalent lately, but perhaps I'm becoming jaded.  I can think of only 5 truly glaring examples in the past 23 years.

I think some of these unpleasant B's are just on power trips because they have a position of "authority" (big deal - I'm certainly not impressed).  I always let management know, even if they choose to be in denial or blow it off, I've at least gotten it off my chest and had my say.  When I complain to mgmt. I stick to the facts/issues/dates ONLY and there is usually silence on the other end of the line (no arguments) as they are taking it all in.  Funny thing though, even after numerous complaints, they seem reluctant to eliminate the offenders.

I've found that it's not just one website
I have found that the manufacturers' websites often show the brand names of the equipment used.

Not every employer or hospital will acknowledge a manufacturer's website as being a legitimate source, but at least the manufacturer often gives you a direction to look in and an idea of how a brand name is spelled.

Here's an example:

http://www.medtronic.com/your-health/bradycardia/device/index.htm
Treating when they are not there is...

the wrong thing to do.  This is why lice are getting resistant to the treatments available.  While the lice themselves are hard to see, the nits are not.  If you don't see any nits or lice, then your child doesn't have them.  I would just keep a close daily watch and only treat if there is an infestation.  Additionally, if you child DOES get lice, you have to do much more than just wash the hair with Nix.  You have to literally tear your house apart vacuuming everything, bagging up stuffed toys for 2 weeks, washing all the bedding in hot water, etc.  And don't forget the seats in the car.  I would simply start by finding out what the daycare's policy is for lice.  Before we moved the school our kids attended had a very politically correct lax policy on head lice.  They told me that it wasn't fair to exclude children from school just because they had nits (lice did warrant a call to the home).  But in my mind, if there are nits, there HAS to be lice, right?  They would let kids stay at school who literally had nits falling out of their hair.  It was DISGUSTING.  What boggled my mind was how a parent could not see that sick mess in their child's hair and not do anything about it.  I could see the mess from 10 feet away.

Fibromyalgia
Just visited my doctor today.  I have many indications of fibromyalgia.  Of course there is no test to diagnose this, he wants me to try process of elimination by first trying a wheat free diet.  I'm kinda bummed about this.
Fibromyalgia
Don't be too bummed. I am reading a book called "The Yeast Syndrome", and the M.D. author states in it that fibromyalgia may be related to a yeast overload in the body. So the wheat-free diet may be very helpful to you.
Fibromyalgia
I was diagnosed with this in 1993. the first two years were terrible. I spent alot of money on tests and drugs.

Finally the last 6 years have been good to me requiring little or no medications. I was so proud of myself.

This year winter hit and along came the fibro. My line count fell 3 months in a row. I ended up loosing my current MT job for this reason.

Has anyone else had this experience?
Hmm interesting, I've been using this one, works well for me!!

You may wanna try this instead - similar concept. Its called "Medical Transcription Word Seeker." I've been using this for close to a year now. Here's the link.

I've found it more lucrative to charge .... sm

... by the report, although others might disagree.  $1.10 to $1.25 is average when working as an employee.  If you're working as an IC you really should charge more, considering your overhead, etc... and make sure you charge for every report, not page.  For instance a report that includes more than one requisition, such as a foot and ankle, would be two reports.  If the radiologist is getting paid for each study(which they certainly are), then so should you.

Hope this helps !

I've found the answer and how to declutter.
Get diagnosed with cancer.   Got the diagnosis yesterday and today I've been going through the house like the Tazmanian devil.   I'm throwing stuff away, boxing stuff up to go to Goodwill and Freecyling some stuff.   We were in serious need of a Clean Sweep (though I never would do it because I'd be too embarrassed that I let my house get like that).   I know it is a bit of an overreaction, but both of my parents died and didn't have things in order and I was left to deal with it all and don't want the same for my family.  I also don't want to look at the clutter anymore and want my house to be relaxing and not be afraid to open my door when the doorbell rings.   It also helps keep my mind occupied.   I only made a teeny, tiny dent in the clutter, but at least it was progress.   I also don't want my kids growing up thinking that our house is "normal."  I have boys and I don't think their future wives would  appreciate a slob for a husband.
the lightest touch i've every found
was the Kinesis -- they are not cheap but man, i wish i would have found them years ago. Some have said before that the Goldtouch keyboards have a good touch too.
I've found an adapter that has the 2-prongs
and then you plug your headphones into the other end, just didn't want to buy them from TVPS.
I've found nothing has a higher pay level (sm)
all same across the board these days.
I've found you have to work more than 8 hours a day to
If I had to stick to an 8-hour time period, I couldn't afford to continue.
You're welcome, hope it works for you! I've used
Instant Text, but only briefly. It seems to be "bug-y" on my system. I usually have at least two or three documents open in Word at a time and when I switch back and forth using F6, IT screws up my being able to switch between documents easily, also when using IE I don't like the adjustments I have to make with my mouse to get the screen back to how I need it to be when Instant Text. I started with PRD+ for DOS a long, long time ago, used it for years until I switch to Shortcut for DOS, then made the switch to Windows and started with ShortCut for Windows. I used that program for about nine months before finding Shorthand. I really liked Shortcut but it has it's limitations with coding. I love ShortHand the most of the three programs mentioned. It's easy to use, I can duplicate easily, a really nice feature that I wish IT had. I also tried SmartType. It wasn't user friendly, or at least I couldn't figure it out! I think it may have been bug-y with my system or something. Anyway, long story short, I love Shorthand, it's easy to use but one can do rather complex things using it. Oh, and that little box that follows around on the screen showing what my short will be when I expand it is a great feature!
I've had a bad back for years and nothing works better...sm
for me than heat.  I have a chair pad that heats and/or vibrates.  I don't use the vibrator much because the noise is distracting, but the heat works wonders.  Sometimes if the pain is real high around my shoulders, I just drape a heating pad over the top of my chair.....also keeps me warm and toasty in the winter time.
Thanks! I've been told Infinity works with (sm)
the new platform I will be working on, I just needed to make sure it would work with my Start-Stop. I really did not want to have to get a new media player as well. Thanks again!
I've moved to 4 different states until I found what I want that pays what I want
The world isn't going to come to you. You have to make some effort yourself.
I've actually found Medicare very easy to deal with...
wouldn't dread the call. It will probably go better with Medicare than with the nephrologist.
