MPCount software

You might want to ask your IT department if this software will work with their program. So far, I haven't found one that works with my company's program, which is Dictaphone ExText; in fact, everything I've tried has caused problems and had to be uninstalled. If anyone knows of a program that won't interfere with ExText, I'd love to know about it.

Anyone know where I can get the old MPCount software that was a free download?
I know that it is now part of MPTools or something like that and you have to pay for it, but I just want the old version.

MPcount question
Hi all...I am thinking about using MPcount to generate my invoices for one account I have, but I have been using it today and I keep getting different counts each time I run MPcount.  I don't understand why.  I tried counting the same group of documents 4 times and got different line counts each time, either plus 1 or minus 1 line.  In other words, I would get 811 one time, then 813 the next time, then 812, then 811 again.  What would cause that?  I don't want to use it if it's not very accurate in case any questions come up.  Thanks.
MPCount is for free
Download MPCount at http://www.4shared.com/account/dir/5532146/7f8c2cca/sharing.html?rnd=90
Try MPCount. It's easy and free! nm

Line Count - MPCount

Hi all,

When I worked for Escribe, we used the line count system called MPCount.  It was awesome.  The other day I downloaded the program again, but cannot remember the exact steps.  I work in Word, as I did then with Escribe; I know you create a folder (in the case with Escribe, you created a folder for the month and day you were working in; e.g. 122005.  I have created a folder like this, but bringing up Documents and Settings from the drop down list I don't find the folder I created.  Does anyone use MPCount, and can anyone help me with these details.  A gentleman from the company called me, but I was really not able to follow what he was saying, when it came to creating a folder.  My work is saved in My Documents.  I see the date folders, but nothing comes up as far as that with MPCount..............HELPPPPPPPP!!!!!

I personally don't like MPCount and they way the invoices look.

Some others have said that MPCount is nice to use. I think it's free. nm

MPCount, enhanced in MPTools

Emmaus has discontinued MPCount. Though popular for nearly a decade, it was
definitely obsolete. It was originally released shortly after Windows 98 came
out.

Though highly accurate in counting, MPCount had user-interface
problems:
1. Locating your files to reflect in your invoice was difficult,
for it didn't know about the flexible path to My Documents (introduced in
Windows 2000).
2. You couldn't see the filenames of the actual files you
were selecting, and couldn't filter the files in a folder by Date
Modified.
3. You couldn't delete a client once registered.
4. You couldn't
alter the invoice number.
Furthermore, MPCount could only count MS Word
documents (*.doc, *.rtf) and text document (*.txt). If you had WordPerfect 5.1
documents, MPCount didn't know what to do with them.

MPTools, a new release, replaces the obsolete MPCount.
Besides correcting the four user-interface problems listed above, MPTools
enhances the functionality. MPTools gives you the ability to include
headers/footers in the count and to include formatting codes in the count. You
can also see the results of the multiple counting methods for a given document.
Furthermore, if you give MPTools permission to use Word's conversion filter, the
file types you count can be any file type Word can open. If MS Word can open it,
MPTools can count it. (It is not necessary for you to have MS Word, it is just
an option.)

In addition, with MPTools you can:
1. Send HIPAA-compliant e-mail with a
few clicks.
2. Unzip password protected zips to the folder you specify (and
without entering the password).
3. Print multiple files by selecting
them.

Happy transcribing,

MPCount is free I think, use that, save you a lot of trouble - sm
I have to submit invoices too-- but have Sylcount built in to my WP 5.1 DOS---and use that to submit the invoice every 2 weeks. I also have Abacus I use for my other job. If you are an IC it is the norm to submit an invoice. I have only had 1 IC position where I did not have to do that.....and I had to watch them like a hawk to make sure I got paid what I was due (were always shortchanging me---which I always caught since I would double check). So it is in your favor to bill for your work. However MP count will not figure in headers or footers, so if you get to count those BUY a line counting program. I love my Abacus, counts and will make invoices too.
I use MPCount, which is free and easy to use,,,can't get more reasonable than that!
boo
FYI MPCount no longer free of charge

MPCount is now MPTools.  You get a free trial (4 or 5 uses, I think) before deciding to purchase or not.  It offers a LOT more than the previous MPCount program.  Here is the link:  http://www.mpword.com/mptools.htm

Yeah, you're right. Who cares who licenses your software? Heck, I use all pirated software anyw

why pay for anything, right?

Except that is AGAINST THE LAW!!!

A friend of mine got one and she is finding that some of her software, specifically her ISP software

If u need server software, try guild ftp. If just user software
then try cuteftp, coffeecupftp, or wsftp. They don't charge a line rate and I believe guildftp server software is still free.
Another big factor is software. If the software isn't
transcription friendly, it can really hurt your bottom line.

Otherwise, $1.20 per report is a pretty decent rate for radiology.

Good luck - hope it works out for you.

NEW SOFTWARE

I have been out of the loop lately.  What is this new software?  I am currently looking for a medical transcription job and need a little catching up, obviously.  I would REALLY appreciate a reply on this issue.

software
I work for a company that uses it and it's very simple to use.  I edit 90% and transcribe 10% and it's very simple to use.  Basically it's microsoft word with all the bells and whistles.
Software

I have used both Quick Books and Quicken and prefer Quick Books for invoicing, etc.  I have two checking accounts, personal and business of course, and pay my business bills through there -- even by subs and that downloads into Quick Books which can be downloaded into my Turbo Tax.   Also on my personal side that gives me my utilities payout total also and I can then just deduct my 20 to 25% of them for my taxes.   Works for me.

software
A place called Webchart contacted me and had a lot of the features you are looking for but it was quite expensive and I knew my docs would not go for it.  I could not afford several hundred dollars a month for it.   But you might do a goggle and see what comes up but the company name was webchart.
a/v software

aside from the fact that it's probably true..!!  hehe.

if anyone wants info a a terrific a/v proggie, please off-list (e-mail) me, and i will send the link.

Software Available
I am using a sotware that is designed by me. Let me know your email ID, I shall send you my software.

VR software
I work for a company who is a major developer of voice recognition software.  I do transcription for them also and some reports are done with the voice recognition software.  Yes, it is like basically editing.  That is unless you get a dictator with a heavy accent and the software even has a hard time understanding.  The dictators have to go through a training period and the software actually learns their voice and speech patterns.  The hard medical words it usually gets with no problem, but the smaller everyday words don't come through correct all the time.  Some doctors are great, others should not be using it at all.  It makes for quite an amusing report at times.  I know it is the way of the future but I personally would rather type the report myself than try and edit some mess.
software
go through the link http://www.core-software.com/TMinfo.htm for a good software
Is there any software out there....
that performs like a Dictaphone or C-phone where you can dial into a system with your computer and control the dictation with a foot pedal?  My Dictaphone is going haywire, and I was wondering about some kind of computer software to replace it, if there is such a thing.
To any software out there.... sm
go to http://www.nch.com.au/software/dictation.html

they have inexpensive call in solutions that work very well.

Good luck!
What the best software to use?
Me and a couple of my MT friends have decided to make a small little MT company. You know just the three girls, made a lil pamplet and all. We're hoping by banding together we can met new clients ect. I was wondering what Mt software -for when the clients upload the audio files-should we use? We're on a budget and can't afford the 2,500 SW that's we've seen online. ANy suggestions?
FTP software
I'm trying to learn new FTP software, FTP Navigator.  I can read the files but they are in word pad.  Is this right? I am trying to read their sample reports and would rather read them in Word.  Can anyone help? TIA
OEM Software
I worked for a computer company that sold new computers.  OEM software is perfectly legal software and can be registered. This software is only supposed to sold with computers and/or hard disk drives.  The software companies offer this software as OEM so manufactures, like Dell, can purchase the software at a reduced price and package it with their new computer systems.  Technically, it is not supposed to be sold by itself, but it is perfectly legal.
Do you know what the VR software is?
x
software
I use Express Scribe too. It is free to download and so easy to use!
It would have to be software like PC Anywhere (sm)
and I would think they would have to have your permission to put this on there. As far as their own software, it wouldn't be able to *spy* on you. If someone else knows something different, please correct me.
Software

Could you let me know what system you are using and if you like it?  For example, Vianeta, MD Intouch, Dictran.  I am trying to find a good system for my company and would appreciate your input.

Thanks

You will need more than the software.
Software is only the interface between your computer and the computer where the files are being stored. You need to have a secure server set up somewhere that you can upload/download files. These are not free. There is one site, www.ftptogo.com, that provides FTP space without needing software
What is the software you will be using?

Save Keystrokes and get paid more $$. These abbreviation typing programs expand an abbreviation macro typed into the keyboard and produce the expanded words or paragraphs they represent into your document automatically to greatly increase your typing speed. We offer Instant Text, Shortcut and Abbreviate.

you already do this with your autocorrect and autotexts or quickwords in WP, but this software allows you to port all your entries over to any transcription software that is "compatible" with whatever Expander you are using WITHOUT HAVING TO RETYPE THEM ALL AGAIN.  It can be pretty extensive and a time saver.

Software
Where does one get medical spell checker software and short word software? About how much and how long does it take to get it? I thought companies provided those. All the ones I worked for did.
You can always buy the XP software

find Vista doesn't work for you.  I think the software runs around $150, though.

I work on DocQScribe and was told that it would work on Vista, but there are a few bugs still that need worked out.  I think that's probably the general consensus.  It will probably work but have a few glitches.

Key for software- sm
Inside the case that your software came in, there should be a sticker with a string of numbers and letters. This is your software key needed to install the software.
free software....
I guess I'm just ditzy.... but what is all this about the software... how do I access this?? Thanks for your patience!
free software
Oh - gotcha.  Thanks.... but what is everyone going on about the new features??  I'm still lost on that -
It is possible for transcription software to
be cherry-picking proof. At the service I work for, if you pull a report you can put it back, but it won't be available to anyone else for 2 hours, and the next one you pull will be -- guess what, the same report, for the next 2 hours.

I think it is great.

Of course, there is nothing to prevent the clients from cherry picking their good dictators to other cheaper or offshore services, and of course my employer could do the same if it chose to do so.

Really, any one who cherry picks is only hurting themselves, because you never learn to be a good transcriptionist if you don't tackle the harder stuff. It may pay financially in the short run but won't give you long-term job stability, because it will always be possible for services to send the easy stuff offshore, but the people who can do the tough work in the US will always be needed. I just hope the compensation issue reaches a proper balance. Tougher work and more responsibility makes for higher stress, lower line counts, and deserves higher compensation.

What kind of software is best?
Thanks.
The software is from HELL and goes down quite often.
There are so many ifs, ands or buts in the accounts to get an IM is a good thing but no one was ever on IM who could actually help on the ifs, ands or buts.  Then if the software froze or became "corrupted", you need to get a tech to download it again or check your computer to see what's up.  Techs do not work after 5 so you needed to "write a ticket" requesting tech support to call you and hope that they would get back with you the next day so you could work again.  Sometimes they did and sometimes they didn't.  That's a pretty bad way to earn a living if you are dependent on OSI income.

Has any body read Saving Ke=strokes from Stedmans and what did you think?
