much for the first XX lines and then raises the cpl by 0.05 for each 2000 lines up to a maximum cpl. Also, when extra help is needed, we are offered an extra amount per line that we transcribe.

Some companies offer an extra monetary amount for XX number of lines transcribed over your average, or for lines transcribed by working above your required schedule. All companies are different.

Need an expander that works with Meditech system
I have tried some free downloads of a couple of programs but had problems with them.  Had to turn them off and on when I went to different screens or different aspects in Meditech.  I do Radiology and basic 4 with access to Meditech Expander which is only good for long repetitive phrases and I often go into the medical charts to look up medicines, etc.  This poses a problem with some Expanders as I enter codes to get to the different screens.  Please help!
Would someone please explain to me how a c phone system works?
I have been an MT for 15 years....started with typewriter! LOL  Anyway, am now up to digital dictation with local hospital but am looking for other employment.  I'm trying to understand the c-phone system and how cost effective it would be to work using one.  I have been offered a job but need a c-phone and unlimited long distance.  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the help.
work out an indexing system that works for you and copy (almost) every report into it.

while Ops offer lot of challenges -- that's a good thing, imho, REALLY ...

I keep my op stored in WORD sorted by

(1) client

(2) specialty (general surgeon, ortho, plastic, podiatrics, ENT, GYN, GI , urology, neurosurgery etc) .... and then in word folders

(3) within speciality, within client I name individual reports like this:

470 hernia vental simple

470 hernia umbilical

470 small bowel resection

=========================================================

470 would be that doctor's id number -- the file holding 470's reports would be named with doctor's last name

=========================================================

works for me, although I do usually do big time "indexing" until I've gota bunch of copied reports.

=========================================================

It's really important to NOT consider these NORMALS until you are more familiar with the dictator ... however... this is worthwhile ANYWAY because the joy of OPs is that most doctors say pretty much the same thing in 80% of their reports ... sometimes more. Gastroenterology and GYN  are excellent "easy money" most of the time but you MUST pay attention and change every difference ...

All these saved reports need to be updated when you review your QA ... those phrases that doctor mumbled yesterday are probably mumbled 24/7/365 ... follow up and record this information.

=========================================================

I use Emedicine for my go-to for a lot of things... while they don't have op reports they are stellar at terminology and spelling, hyphens, and capitalization as far as I can tell.

One of the fabulous things about op reports is usually NO MEDICATION LOOKUPS!!!! (although you will spend time finding out the latest heart stents, hip replacemetn component marketing  names, etc. ) Most medical device manufacturers have "pretty good" web sites -- use them, rather than relative Google popularity wrt spelling, caps, etc.

Good luck -- there is a learning curve but imho it is more than worth it -- Surgeons understand that their dictation is in essence their "BILL" when it comes to Medicare and insurance -- they have a vested interest in it being intelligible and complete ... they may talk really fast but most of the time, if you have samples, you will find they are saying variations of the "same thing" using the same words/terminology.

Oh, and OP pay better.

Sincerely, good luck.!

The Orator dictation system offered by Bytescribe also works with DocShuttle. I use it as well as th

I thought the price was reasonable. You can export the files into DocShuttle so that the docs can still use the electronic signature feature. I have one facility that uses the system this way.  One doc uses the olympus DS-2300 and the other two use my call-in system.

Bytescribe Company - May Purchase Their OratorPro Dictation System - Any Input?
Does anybody have experience with the company called Bytescribe and their telephone dictation systems? I am looking into buying their OratorPro system where I can have doctors telephone in and dictate onto this system.

Thank you.
MT works for the company, not the facility
It has been my experience that approaching an issue like this comes across as bullying and I have not had very good results with this method. Its like ha-ha you got one more chance kind of a deal. Rather than putting it off on the facility I would have sent a directive to the MT and asked that it not happen again, stating that the facility expects top notch work from us and anything less would not be acceptable to them. If that fatal second blow were to occur, then let the company deal with any disciplinary action it normally takes and/or perhaps move the MT over to another account. I have worked both sides of the fence, so I know this technique never works, almost always results in more and more errors.
The company she works for is CBay
I thought perhaps most would get the bigger picture....the liberal New York Times and their foreign liberal journalist using a blind person overseas to put such a twist on her plight, that the outsourcing just gets overlooked for what it truly is, stripping US of their jobs. This has everything to do with INDIANS or anyone else overseas who is given our jobs for pennies....it has to do with selling us, the U.S. down the river, and our own greedy corporate idiots do it.
my dial up works for the company I work for

I work for a company that uses MP Word.  They have an edition that is made to work with dail-up.  I just get the first dictations downloading, make coffee, clean the kitty litter, read e-mail or whatever.  Then once that initial  batch is downloaded, when I have about 10 minutes of dictation left, I just request more work and keep on typing.  I almost never have to wait for work after that, I just keep downloading as I type.

She works for MQ see MedQuist forum. It's under Company Board.

pay tier-MQ

i heard that they pay tier is suppose to reward the people who do acute care with more money as opposed to the people who do ER only

has any9one else heard anything???

MQ tier
I assume you are talking about the statutory tiers/incentives...I do believe that varies from office to office.  The office I work for now the first tier is at 14,001 lines.  However, the office I just transferred from it started at 16,001.  You would actually have to check with whichever office you are working for or interested in working for.  Anyway, that kind of gives you an idea.
tier pay
The first starts at 12,001 in the office where I work.
Three-tier pay plan?
What is a three-tier pay plan starting at 1200 lines/day?  I have only ever been an IC so this is new to me.  Thanks:)
MQ/SA5West/tier 3. No msg.

bonus tier
I don't know what company you work for, but I would think that your company wouldn't offer a third bonus tier if they didn't want people to reach for that goal.
we are on a tier level sm--
for
.10 it is 1600 lpd
.095 it is 1400 lpd
.09 below 1400 ldp

paid every 2 weeks

I meant tier it on production. Sorry.
:
This sounds like the tier based pay
at the company I'm about to start work with. They also offer consistency bonuses quarterly on top of the normal pay, which sounds like a nice addition. They also offer a straight base pay cent per line for IC status.
I think tier level should be based on the ability
to transcribe jobs assigned to the particular tier. My first job as an MT (I worked in house) required that I do all work types including OP reports. We, of course, did not have tier levels assigned; we were paid hourly. But, we were required to do all work types.
We are paid on a tier basis, based on
your production during the entire pay period. For example:

12,000 - xx
12,001 - 14,000 - an additional 0.05.
14,000 - 16,000 - an additional 0.05.
16,001 and above - an additional 0.05

So, lines between 12,000 and 14,000 we are paid xx + 0.05;
14001 - 16000 - xx + 0.05 + 0.05;
16,001 - above xx + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05.
Meditech is an operating system and Fusion is voice for a dictation system

Full Word is in the Works "Suite," not plain Works.
Works saves files in a different format, but you can open them in Word if you have the correct filter installed.
RIGHT!!! Someone who works 16 hours and someone who works 60 will have a HUGE difference. NM

Good of the company? As IC, I am my own company. Not my problem if she has problems as long as I do
:P
Accepted a job with a new company, gave two weeks notice to my old company..

Old company, let me go before two weeks was up.  New company, said they were having trouble getting me set up and my equipment ready, but they would pay me while I waited.  It's been a month, still no check from new company even though I was told it was "in the mail."  I have no income and am at a loss.

I have a signed offer letter from the new company, contracts, etc.  I applied for unemployment, but old company is saying I quit and technically I am currently employed with the new company!  New company is not returning calls or answering email.

What should I do!?!?!?!

I started sending my resume out today, but the process of getting a new job will take at least two weeks and I need money now to catch up on what I'm behind!

You don't want to work for this company. Call your current company and
tell them that you have decided against the new position and tell them that you would like to stay. It is cheaper for them to let you stay than to train someone new. A company who could be so tacky as the one you just spoke of is one you do not want to work for. You can rescind your resignation. If you are a good MT, they will be glad you did.
With my company, ICs use their own emails, employees have company email.

Local radiology company, not transcription company
who has only 5 transcriptionists and are not hiring at this moment. We all work at home and get great benefits, no insurance out of pocket and 22 days paid vacation in the first year, after that it goes up. I feel very fortunate to have found them, but again I chose them because they did not do production, so now that they are, I'm a little disappointed.
It's the way our system is set up..
We can search to see what work is out there, and we can also search by author and see what work each author has, and even look at completed reports, which is nice when you're stuck. I love my platform.
everyone on DQS (DEP) system

Can you say what system it was? nm

I think it is what system you are using,
that is why I asked you to tell me more. I use eScription and 1 can believe or not but I am amazed at how the ESLs are picked up better than the English. You are using Dictaphone- I have read other posts who are on different VR system and they are not satisfied. I have loads of ESLs on my account but am happy VR is picking up instead of my having to listen to them all and trying to muddle through.
Your system allows this?
The system I work on does not allow me to 'pick' my work. I have a pool of work and it loads into my computer 3 records at a time. I have to take what I get and do what I get. Your system allows you to choose what dictations you want to do? In my opinion, that is not fair to anyone. It should be what pops up gets done by whoever reaches it first.

I would say one last thing to my boss about it, if I were you. I would just tell her that you can sit there and watch what is happening, that this one person is taking the gravy jobs, and for your boss to sit and observe it herself and do something about it. I don't see why any person feels they are better than another, to get an easy income while others struggle. I sure hope it is resolved soon for you.
For every system set up, there is a way around it..
our system recently changed to allow only ONE job to be seen and worked on at a time, which they thought would stop the cherry picking, but it has not. There is a web site where we can still view what is coming next and down the line. The cherry pickers just wait, PERHAPs doing a little job here and there, and then as soon as a very large one comes up, snap. it is gone! I hate this way of things. I certainly wish that all accounts were "assigned" accounts. Much more fair to all transcriptionists. but that is just my opinion!!!
EMR System
I just got back from a meeting at my employer's office. They've been implementing EMR and expect most of it to be up and running by March. They haven't come right out and told us (the other transcriptionis), but we may be without a job, although they haven't really said too much. Supposedly they may still need us because there are some doctors that are set in their ways and won't use it.
What system do you use? NM

The problem is with our system.
As a Caucasion I do feel shame for what my ancestors have done to people of other races, especially to Native Americans.  However, I cannot go back in time and fix that.  The problem now is not that people want to come here, the problem is the gravy train our government allows outsiders that do come here.  This is in no way good for the citizens of this country, no matter their original nationality.  If I wanted to become a citizen of another country, the first thing I would expect to have to do is to learn the language.  The powers that be have had a global economy as part of the agenda, and now we have it.  This did not start with the current administration.  I do not know if there is anything that can be done to help the situation at this point.  The powers that be have what they want.  If you are big business, then you can trade with anyone in any country who has the money.  If this is what they wanted, at least they could level the playing field so that we could financially compete with those who are being given a free ride.
Then she'd get back on the system with
This is so-and-so, and I got disconnected AGAIN.
Call-in system
I have an internet based digital call in system with 4 ports.  It is very simple to use. The doctor calls in and then the work is on the server, you load it with Express Scribe and do your work........If you want another transcriptionist to get work, then you just put in their e-mail address along with your doctor's key and it will automatically forward to the transcriptionist, while you still have a copy of the voice file to be able to double check the work.   I bought mine through RT King.
abcdz system
Could you please explain?
Yep, but its the Dictaphone system...
My hospital rad account decided to "upgrade" their system which supposedly would take half an hour - its now 6 hours and counting - and the docs haven't been able to dictate since noon - boy R we in for a backlog tomorrow!
Can't you log onto MQ's system and find that out?
I don't know about anyone else, but I would never stay with a company that didn't have enough work to keep me busy.
To sm, don't do it! Someone will call you and ask why you are off the system!

DOS based system
Has anyone ever worked for a company that is DOS based? I started a new job today, and their system is in DOS. To me it is really old-school, but I guess I will just have to learn.
