Forgot to as directed steroid injections!
For headache sufferers, there is nothing like supraorbital blocks and Botox for frontal headaches and occipital nerve blocks and trigger point injections for posterior head pain. Unfortunately, they wear off though. It helps diagnostically so the doctors know what they are dealing with. One doctor offered me a rhizotomy. I finally went through with a cervical fusion because my neurosurgeon said it would clear up all the pain. I wish it had......
do't worry, go for the steroid shot and relief!

I have tendonitis along with RHA.  When my elbow flares up (as it's doing now), I pop the ibuprofen, use a gel wrap for "tennis elbow" you can pick up in the drug stores and try to limit my heavy movement with that one.

That said, I have to have it along with my hip injected 3-4 times a year.  Not sure if my rheumy is just the best or not but I've never had any pain with the steroid injections.  I call him slick and the relief is almost instant, no more tears from the pain.  HTH

A friend of mine did the injections (sm)
and her legs looked great for a little while. Eventually, blood got trapped below the injection sites and they look worse now than they did before.
does anyone know a good website for subconjunctival injections?
Thanks...
MAs take vitals, draw blood, give injections, etc.

PAs have the mostly the same authority as a doctor EXCEPT writing narcotic prescriptions they need their suopervising doctors signature.  I used to work in a doctor's office as an MA for a PA.  Hope this helps!!!

Mine are so bad I get Kenalog injections throughout allergy season. Really does the trick for your e

MQ finally getting to me too
I can relate, MQ finally getting to me too. I'm about at the same place, just unsure where to go from here, not wanting to get in more of a mess! I was originally with ddi from 1991, MQ bought in 1997 or thereabouts - I have had ONE raise since MQ came on, that was maybe in 1998... !

I've ignored so much about this company simply out of, ultimately, fear I guess - fear of the unknown with another national co.? What's that saying, better the devil we know... My attitude was always hey, I get paid well, work on accounts I've been on for years, and as long as no one messes with my pay check and leaves me alone in general, what's to not like about this job. I can ignore all the other scuttlebutt. Why torture myself with learning it a new way for another co. and then finding out they are just as, well... Not So Great.
But, that's just not cutting it any more. There are too many glaring problems to shrug it off any more it seems, including, for me, my pay has now been messed with, and, I believe, has been for quite a while.

Well, anyway, I wish you luck with wherever you move on to and send you a big dose of courage to Just Do It! It sure helps to hear some honest MQ MTs experience and opinions. And, I'm also glad for those MQers who find the company still works well for them. It's all relative.

I used to be that way until I finally
got fed up. the company just kept taking more and more advantage of me and "expected" me to clean up the mess so instead of 5 days I was working 7.  one night my 3 yo said "mommy I want you to be with me and not work".  that was the night that I started only working my shift and that's it.  the company has taken revenge and has been switching me around from account to account more than normal and with the worst dr of course, but I only get one shot with my son and I don't need extra help screwing that up. the extra money doesn't mean enough to me.  I've turned the furnace way down and use the fireplace daily instead.  if you don't draw a line this job will control you because we all know that if we're not typing we're not getting paid but everyone needs something other than typing every waking minute!
FINALLY!!
you know what I mean
I FINALLY had my last ..
period at age 58!  For 3 or 4 years prior to that, I noticed that I was a lot less heat tolerant.  Like you, I'd get sweaty (mainly face, neck chest) suddenly off and on for years but still was having a period regularly.  They finally started getting irregular around age 55 where I'd skip one occasionally.  Then the last year or two I'd skip several and finally had my last period at 58 (about a year and a half ago).  The biggest symptom I had was night sweats.  I'd wake up in the middle of the night absolutely burning up and kick off the covers.  Actually this just stopped recently.  I still will get a "flash" (face sweaty and hot) once in a while though.  Other than that I didn't have many other symptoms.  A little moody but not too bad.  Good luck to you.  I hope all goes smoothly for you!
I finally got
one of my docs to go digital. I had him buy the recorder (Olympus DSS4000 I believe). It came with software to load on his and my computer. I use Hypersend to email the completed reports back (encrypted). Unfortunately, I have another doc who is unwilling to have his staff download and do envelopes for his letters so I still have to go pick up tapes (but only twice a week and at least he is close).
What finally went through on the (sm)
Word Board was exactly what I was trying to put through all the other times.  Anyway, thanks for the response and I'll just keep plugging along.
Finally
Finally someone who sees my point of view.
Finally, THANKS SO MUCH
Well finally someone who speaks with intellect!   I agree with everything you said and what Patti said.  OK I will get everything together and now that I know how to get the information to the Admin., I will do so tonight.  Thank you for your words of WISDOM.  I am not going to respond anymore.  You are right and also you can go on forever with these comments.  Again, thank you very much!  XOXO
Finally.........

Best reading all day.  10 kudos!

I finally did this......
I don't know your physical ability, but have you tried walking a couple of hours before bedtime? I began going just around my block and back and was amazed at how much better I slept. I use to run every morning but because of really bad heel spur, I can't anymore. The walking doesn't feel so great on my foot either but I had to do something. I needed sleep.

Or,try soaking in a tub of warm water before bed. My hubby does this for arthritis before he goes to bed and I notice how much it really helps him sleep.

Another one, and I know this sounds crazy, but my hubby got me some great headphones that you plug into the TV at night, so if he falls asleep, I can watch TV without bothering him. What I noticed when having trouble falling asleep, if I put the TV on something boring, turn the volume down on my earphones, close my eyes, and try to listen, I find myself getting so drowsy that I turn them off and am able to sleep. I hope you find something that works for you.
Yes, finally........someone else!
I was beginning to think I was the only one who cringed with female dictators. The um, um, um.....I WANT TO SCREAM!!!!! Stop with the um and just speak WORDS!!!!!! And if the uuuhhmmmm isn't enough, I have a Pakistani female dictator and she is HORRIBLE. The mumbling 90 mph and uuuhhhhmmmmm.....I'm sorry I just want to reach out and slap her and ask her if that took her off the uuuhhmmmmmmm and could she now please just SPEAK NORMALLY!!!!!
Finally got rid of it!!!!!
Thank you all for your help with this blankety-blank problem I had that was entirely my fault. After trying 3 different ways to get rid of this garbage, I think I have succeeded.

Couldn't have done it without you. Thanks so much.
Finally!

I am WITH ya!  Why can't we stand up all together!  Been in this 15 years and made more $$ and actually had personal time years ago.  Less pay for training a "machine" to eventually give us less work and probably put us out of a job...

Seems everyone is either afraid or, like us, do not know how to begin and what to do.  If all of us that have been seeing such drastic changes because of low $$, low work and we stood together - even on 1 day just for 1 hour - WOW - what a backlog and that would speak the loudest!  It could work, too.  The majority who have these same issues far outnumber those that seemingly don't.

Yes, as mother's we should take the
responsibility. Whether they were married or not is not relevant. Everyone makes poor choices in life. Everyone, married and unmarried, might need help at some point in their life. What difference would it make if my sister in law was married? The courts wouldn't enforce the order anymore than they are now. You say you are all for going after the father, what difference does it make then? They are not held accountable by your government, but you think it is okay to speak against any woman needing help only momentarily because they made a poor choice in life?

I'll give you another example. My mother who was married to my father for 10 YEARS had to get a divorce and take all 4 of us kids with her. My father after 5 years of MARRIAGE started beating her. He then put guns to my brother and my mom. He raped my sister many times before she was ever not scared enough to tell someone. She left as soon as she could get out and took all of us with her. Our government that she paid taxes into her whole life did not once honor the restraining orders, did not honor the court order for child support, and would not provide my sister with counseling at no charge or reduced rate. Do you know why? Because a member of the family committed the crime. Even though the man told my mom that he is aware that most all sexual assault cases occur in the family, but according to the procedures laid out to them by our government, you cannot get assistance if the act occurs in the family. My mother worked 3 jobs. We had to get her out of bed with a broom because she would come up swinging. She drove us all many, many times to counseling and did not get sleep to go to her next job. If our government would have pursued the child support order, if they would have offered her free counseling for my sister so she was not having to pay out of pocket, just a little help for a short period in her life, then she would not have had it so rough, or us so rough during those times. I am sorry, but it is our responsibility to take care of ourselves. On the other hand, our dollars do not go back to our people in the right way. If you think they do or you think that the government should not be held accountable for their lack of assistance or overseeing of the assistance they do give to make sure it is used properly, you are fooling yourself. If you think it is about all for yourself, never have to depend on the government at all in your life for anything, then give us our money back and we surely could do that.

Mother's Day
My birthday is on Mother's Day this year. I got myself a present, a ticket to see Rob Thomas in concert in PA. I usually get a combined birthday present/Mother's Day present from my husband and two daughters.
My mother's day
First thing when she got up, my 5-year-old asked "Is it Mother's Day?"  When I said yes, she went to her school backpack, pulled out a little brown bag that says "I love mom" on it, and took out a little sculpture of herself that she made at school. My 18-year-old son spent half the day sleeping, a few hours at his girlfriend's house, stopped at home and gave me the top half of a carnation. I think he pulled it off of his girlfriend's mom's bouquet or something.  My 21-year-old daughter called at 8 tonight and said "Happy Mother's Day. I didn't get you anything. I can get you a card though." I think she basically called to let me know she works tomorrow because I watch my 1-year-old grandson when she works. Oh yeah, my husband and I got in a fight. I'm so close to tears. I can't wait until everyone is bed so I can have a good cry. Am I being too sensitive about the older kids? I don't expect them to spend a bunch on me but they both work, and a $5.00 little flower, an annual or something, or pitching on a hanging basket or something, or even a card..whatever..would have made my day. I don't know. Maybe it's just PMS.
Mother's Day
I'm sorry about those 2 self-asorbed older kids. Just think how much the little one loves you - when a 5-year-old remembers Mother's Day, that's special!

As one of the other posters said, remember this on your kids' birthdays. Turnabout is fair play. If you keep giving to them and doing for them, they will get the message that they can treat you anyway they want.

Personally, I would call them on this, but that is just me. I wouldn't be watching that grandson, I can tell you that.
Mother-in-law
Oh gosh! Don't even get me started on mine --- that is another book! lol. Oddly enough the one thing she does approve of is me being here for her son and our children. She has opinions (her own-- not always bright) about everything else I don't do the way "she" would.
my mother-in-law always said
it costs nothing to ask... so give it a shot... susan
My Mother said it does. She said it did not last sm
for her too long, however, it has been almost a year for me, maybe even longer with these palpitations etc. Some days I am great, others not so great. I was walking with a neighbor until she got pregnant but has had the baby now and I think exercise does help the whole situation.
Thank you so much. Please keep my mother in your
prayers.  She is a very sick lady.
mother ill
If I were you I would move her to Georgia. I would just tell her she needs someone to care for her and I didn't want to uproot my family.
Like a mother, eh??

My mother.
She was the transcriber (that's what we were called back then) for a 10-man (yes, they were all men) multispecialty group. She needed help, so the summer I was 16, she dragged me in kicking and screaming and made me help her. I could type and spell and I had passed high school biology; what more was needed?
Finally cools off and what do we have?

SKUNKS!   I guess it was too hot for them to come out in the past month.  Now they come out to scrounge around the neighborhood at 8:00 p.m. to pick through the trash bags that people leave out on the roadside 3 days before trash pick up. My whole house smells like skunk.

But you can't stop these people that work the M-F shift and gather up all of their garbage in garbage bags and leave them out on Sunday evening so they won't have to get up 5 minutes early on Tuesday, which is trash day, to take the bags out to the roadside.  Yes, there is a law (more like a "town ordinance" that says no trash until the morning of pickup). It's not enforced though and we just have to put up with the lazy people.

Oh well, "Eau de skunkola" is the fragrance for this evening.

I'm glad somebody finally got it right! :)

Then there is the easy man 7 course meal:  Six pack and a bag of chips.

Finally! Thank you Lord.
It's about time all of you whiners left MedQuist. I have had enough of you complainers. It is just more work for me now! Yeah!!!! Did any of you ever think that it is time to retire? If you can't understand DocQscribe, which is so basic, I love it, you probably shouldn't be a Transcriptionist anymore. I think that is why so many of you can't get your lines up because you don't know what you are doing in the program. Anyway, thank you lord that you all are leaving. It is about time you quit complaining and do something for once in your lives.
Finally leaving MQ
Finally leaving MQ.  Will miss the nice people but not the new changes.  Thanks everyong on this board for your help.  It's kind of scary to make a change, but what the heck.  It won't matter in 10 years.
Finally leaving MQ
If you do not mind my asking, what company was that test for?
For WEEKS I had this. It's finally gone. nm

Finally, we have gone digital...

I just want to share my enthusiasm and gratitude with all of the MTs on this board who provided me with information on how to go about going digital as opposed to using tapes.  It has been about 2 months in the making, and today I finally successfully and securely received my first audio file from the physician's office.  No more tapes and wasting time and gas!  Again, thanks to all of the more experienced & knowledgeable MTs on this board.  Your wisdom has helped me a great deal.

Finally someone who thinks like I do! sm

I never understood how Bucky even got in the top 12!  What drove me nuts the most was was his inability to speak clearly!  I really laughed when Ryan said "I have no idea what you just said" and when Kenny Rogers said he needed to enunciate or the song wasn't going to make any sense.

Bucky just really had a skeevy look to me...like I wouldn't leave a child alone with him.

I finally got into my mail but IM still down...nm

Glad someone finally said it
This is so true - i am courted by companies every week - all making empty promises - and I know this because of what everyone on this board says about them. We are a great help to each other - and if anyone finds that "great"MTSO who is looking for a part-timer - look me up! I want in on the deal and i have experience to back it up.
FINALLY PAID
Well I finally got my check from the 15th.  It was dated for the 16th, postmarked the 24th and received on the 29th.  Let's see how long it takes to receive the final one.
thanks ER/MT - I got it finally *dense here*..nm

Never mind...finally got on a while ago..nm

Finally, it works!

Thanks! This works great.  For oldies like me, we need more specific instructions unfortunately. When people were saying to change the backstep to a higher number I didn't realize it went that high!! I don't know if there's anyone else out there that wasn't understanding but, I went under backstep on stop, highlighted it and changed it to 2000. Wonderful! thanks!

Yay, finally a subject I know something about

In case you haven't already found your answer - there are two variables to take into account.  1) Is the company an ASO (administrative services only), meaning they are self funded, or 2) do they actually purchase a policy through an insurance company?  If they are ASO then they are under no obligation to follow any state/federal guidelines regarding coverage.  However, if they actually purchase an insurance policy then they must add him to the policy regardless of his medical history.  There may be a pre-x condition waiting period (ok, there's really no "maybe" about it, there will be), however, if he has had continuous coverage for at least 18 months without a gap in coverage greater than 30 days then that should be waived.  Depends on how long their waiting period is as to how much previous coverage he would have to prove.

for stating that!!! Finally! NM
nm
I finally helped someone. Yea!! (nm)

You know, I think I'm just going to have to finally just give in
I think my whole "problem" (if that's what I should call it) has been the stubbornness and unwillingness to give in to the lower rates these days (as an experienced MT of 15 years).

I feel I deserve 10 cents a line or at least 9 cents.

I just didn't feel that taking a 20% pay cut was right, especially considering all the good, hard work I've done over the past decade, the great experience I've racked up, and continuing education on my own time.

But, seriously, I can see where things are going, and if I don't get out of that mindset, I'm not going to make it.

I have to change my way of thinking and just STOP thinking that I'm going to ever make what I made 10 years ago and STOP thinking that I'm worth more than what is being offered. I know that I am, but my pride isn't going to put food on the table or keep a roof over my head.

My 10 cpl job has dried up, not enough work to pay the bills. I've swallowed my pride and found an 8 cpl job and hoping to get another 8 cpl job. That's how it is, and that's how it goes.

If I resist the urge to compare the line count at 8 cents with what I *could* be making at 10 cents, I'll be okay. I have to erase those thoughts and stop eating my heart out and just do the job at 8 cents. Better than nothing.
Thanks! I did finally see the link from the
previous post...wasn't looking down far enough.

Looks really interesting, although seems like it would take some time to get used to it? Time I probably don't have. Can you tell me how long it took you to get back up to your previous speed?

I also wonder if it helps with carpal tunnel or would it just eventually cause new repetitive problems?

Thanks for the info!!!
I just saw mother on Dan Abrams

It sounds like her Aruban attorney is embarrassed by her outburst, in particular calling the two brothers who were released criminals.  They are saying it was "an emotional outburst" with no information to back up the accusation.  In the meantime, Beth Twitty did not forget her shiny pearlescent eye makeup, under eye cream and false eyelashes for the press conference in which she had the "emotional outburst" asking other countries to disregard facts that the Arubian government had no basis to keep these brothers in jail and released them and not accept these "criminals" (emotional outburst no facts per attorney) in their country.

Someone should take Beth (eyelashes) Twitty home and get her a nice antidepressant and a Southern Comfort cocktail.

Saw my mother-in-law's couch LOL
