MTs give the best Hand job
no doubt about that. there are some  bitc hes in you MT industry.
Before you give up call your state...sm
insurance regulatory office and explain the situation to them. They can tell you if the company you're dealing with is doing things legitimately or not, and if they're trying to low-ball you they'll make them behave.
I've used Hand-Eze and Thergonomic Hand Aids. sm
They help with the carpal tunnel and keep hands warm for me. They cover the hand and wrist but leave the fingers free. I wear them inside out, though, because the seams rub on the skin too much for me. I've gotten so used to them, that it is more comfortable wearing them while typing than typing with nothing on.
Don't talk about hand, I still remember the one that got her hand chewed up by her pet rat....

had nightmares for 2 days after that.

Take a pill.
I don't have a problem with someone being Indian, I do have a problem working for a company based out the U.S. Why don't YOU apply for the job if you're so concerned?
Well, if you broke your right hand and were right-hand dominant, can you see how this might be a fac
It may not be relevant at the time of dictating a physical exam or social history but in the future it would be good to know if the patient breaks the finger(s), wrist, hand, arm.
There is a pill you can get at the vet for tapeworms

Also Advantage for the fleas, but the Advantage is probably less expensive on E-Bay.

ok. But VR it is not a magic pill
I've been researching the threats to us by VR. I have found that even with Escription, you need the doctor's cooperation. Their claim that the doctor doesn't need to change his dictating habits is not supportable in the real world. Also, is anyone aware that the software company that provides VR is raking 2 or 3 cents a line off the top just for the privilege of you being able to buy their prohibitively expensive software?
Take a chill pill
they are only testing it right now in one city in Texas...

That should give you time to check out their competition :)

Here take a pill, was just posting an fyi
I did nothing to offend you today. It was not for or against the conversation or directed at you (whoever you are).
OK.. short and sweet... TAKE A PILL !! nm

Anyone ever get a pill stuck in their throat?
I took an ibuprofen capsule on Wednesday morning (for a sore throat I'd had for a week, rapid strep neg).  The first one went down but the other one seemed to stick. It's still there and I just can't get it to go. It's not really down in the throat...it seems to be higher than that. It's making my throat hurt down to the collarbone and up to the ears. I can get it to move around some, but it just won't go down. I don't know whether I should call me regular doctor, go to urgent care, just wait for it to go down or what?
If a pill causes an abrasion while going down, it can fell like it is still there. nm

This doc took a silly pill today!
I am doing a string of ER reports from a doc who must have taken a silly pill!  He is drawing out certain words at a slow pace, then speaking as fast as he can, and now he just made the silliest gutteral noise for about 30 seconds OMG!   silliness

But they came here LEGALLY, and actually
WORSE like this particular group is doing. Ever driven down a street of apartments that has gone Mexican? It's TRASHED.
I would go after him legally sm
if I had to in order to get my money and have that report changed. That could very well affect you in the future. These doctors. The longer I do this the more I hate Western medicine.

Not much to offer, but legally I don't even
think his mother could get his $ before you, his wife. Something sounds fightable there. Sounds like your hubby has a lot of growing up to do. When a guy marries, he should lessen the relationship with his mom, and transfer his love, attention, devotion, loyalty to his wife. As long as his parents are willing participants, doesn't sound like you have much of a chance. I had been in a vaguely similar situation - my husband's controlling parents were ruining our marriage - they actually wanted us to divorce due to their own control issues. We separated, I moved to the other end of the state. My husband quickly followed, and once out of his parents' WEB, we were able to focus on our marriage, and he was able to see the negative influence of his parents. I'm sorry you're going thru this. PLEASE keep us posted!
Legally they cannot pay below minimum
wage. Anyone making below that should check with their state government and make sure that if they do not make minimum wage that this is rectified. Even at the Q, they have to make up the difference to minimum wage.
Not true. You CAN legally use ULD for transcription. There are several sm
options out there including Comcast, Vonage, AT&T Small Business Advantage and more. If you do your research and stop spouting without checking your facts, then people would not chase their tails after bad information.
two jobs in one company, is it legally possible? sm

is it possible to work in a company with two jobs at different shifts?  like for example, I work as a Transcriptionist in the surgery dept and then there's an opening for a different position in a different department.  can i apply for that job without jeopardizing the other?  Can they accept me if I applied for that job?  need advices.  thanks a lot!

Legally working at home

In some places it is still technically illegal to work at home.  If there is a strong union presence, that may be the case because they want to prevent non-unionized piecework jobs.  They equate it, rightly or wrongly, with sweatshop labor.

In some places, you will have to go before the town planning commission and notify all neighbors within a certain radius of what your business is, especially in terms of noise, smells and traffic.  In essence, you will be asking for a change in zoning.

If you live in a condo complex, check your covenants/bylaws to see if you can work at home.

So, yes, I would start with city hall if I lived in an incorporated area or with the county clerk if I lived in an unincorporated area.  It is different everywhere, and some places really haven't come into the electronic age.  Some of the laws still on the books belong more to 1907 than to 2007.

In my area, I don't remember the business license costing anything (although I suspect it did - I can't image the county not looking for money), but I remember I had to have a *doing business as* notice printed for 3 consecutive weeks in the local paper.  That wasn't expensive either - they had a set fee for it.

No he doesn't. Believe what you want, the truth will come out legally.

Cannot legally share - software pirating
No, the BOS is copyrighted intellectual property.  If you make copies to hand out for free, then that is software piracy (fancy digital way of saying stealing).  This is why Medquist Technical will want to verify that you have removed the download from your personal computer if you use one rather than one that belongs to Medquist and will be returned to them when you quit.  Medquist bought licenses to enable that so-called free download for employees.  By that I mean that just because the employees didn't pay for it does not mean that it was really free for the company.
if you made less than 600 dollars they don't legally have to claim it.
Just found that out also as last year my IC job only started in October and didn't make enough for taxes. This year will be different though. My employer said consider it free money. Can't argue with that. Checked with H&R Block and they confirmed it.
Betsy - used to be my name till I legally changed to Elizabeth.

Christina, I would not send voice files unless they legally
belong to you and are in your voice. It is against HIPAA regulations to share medical files. If the hospital or physician or company finds out, you would be held accountable if a patient's private information is given out to another party.
Today is different and you cannot fight companies who LEGALLY can offshore work.
So all Americans refuse to buy goods, shop at stores, or work for companies who offshore.  That leaves a mess.  Do you realize a lot of American companies are actually owned by foreigners?  Get real and move into 2005.  You are going to spend a lot of time boycotting once you do the research.  I doubt you will be able to shop or work at all.
I'm already legally blind and I think all this staring at a screen is making them worse! sm

I'll look into these computer glasses you speak of.  Wearing glasses rather than contacts really did help.. I don't know how or why, but it did.  Maybe the combination of antiglare screen and antiglare lenses?

My monitor's screen is supposed to be antiglare, but I still am thinking one of the antiglare hook-ons might be helpful.  Only problem with that is I have an 'old fashioned' monitors (the kind that are huge and weigh a ton) and not one of the flat screens so not sure if I'll find one to fit.

Work for a company in a state that has no state income tax
I think there are 3 or 4 out there (Florida, Texas, and a few others.)  Then you really avoid the tax situation.
In some states, if buying house and married, both names are legally required to be on deed. (nm)

Name a state and put every company in that state under suspicion.

Tell what the first letter of the company is and every company with that initial will be suspect.  I would imagine that everyone who works for that company has received an inquiry from department of labor, so they would all be aware of it.

Why do we persist in setting up companies to be torn down when there is no reason for it.  If a company is suspect, then give the name of the company, don't give big hints that cover at least 5 companies, 4 of which may be the best companies to work for, but fall into the category of an alphabetical letter, etc.

Not mandatory, as you state it depends on your state - sm
or county. Where I am I do not need it; though if I was cutting grass or landscaping I would where I live, makes no sense to me as I am providing a service, but very happy I don't have to have one. We pay personal property tax here and I would have to list all my business related equipment and pay taxes on it every year I was in business. So until I am told otherwise by my county, I will not be getting a business license.

i have been through some rough times lately and had to apply for some help. there are signs, big signs, all over our offices saying "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE LEGAL TO GET HELP". so we and our government do give them our benefits whether they are legal here or not. now that is messed up. i am helping to support them so they can take away my jobs and i can't even support my kids and yes i get benefits, wow $75 a month in food stamps which lasts not even a week in a household of 6. don't get me wrong, i am thankful for any help at the moment, but i get penalized for trying to work my tail off and still can't survive.

there was recently an article in our local newspaper where one of our local school districts tried to charge $1000 a year for each illegal student enrolled. it was bulked and the illegals got a lawyer to sue for discrimination. the school district merely stated that they had to HIRE extra teachers that could speak the foreign language just to teach these children and were trying to offset some of the expenses. ridicilous!! so again our taxpayers money is paying to educate illegals as well.
Why don't you up the meds?!!!
Your quotes sure are priceless and quite original. You say the same thing, over and over and over again. So go take a shower and maybe the water will help you grow a thought.
Your meds may be the cause.
It could actually be the antidepressant causing the headaches, particularly if you aren't sleeping. Lack of sleep worsens my Wellbutrin headaches. When I was on Paxil, I woke up with severe headaches daily. It's either that or have debilitating depression. Something that antidepressants cause and some folks don't know about is a sort of movement disorder. One of the major complaints is jaw clenching during sleep, which could be one reason you wake up with the pain. I've cracked four molars doing this. I now wear a night guard, but I still have some pain. Do you have frown lines between your brows, neck pain, ear trouble, or jaw pain? Also caused by antidepressants are tics, overall body tension, etc.
meds for
I have been on Wellbutrin for about 4 years secondary to mild depression.  The Wellbutrin really seems to have helped that.  Then I started seeing a neurologist about a year ago for migraines, and he now has switched me to a different anti-depressant as he believes the Wellbutrin could be contributing to my chronic headaches, not migraines so much being chronic; those seem to have backed off, don't have them nearly as frequent, but I wake up almost every single morning with a dull, but painful, headache.  He's had me on Zanaflex for quite a while, and that works okay to help relax me enough to get to sleep but I still wake up with headaches.  I told him this at my last couple of visits and that is when he said he wants me to stop the Wellbutrin as he is wondering if that is causing the headaches.  He gave me a medication, and I don't remember the brand name (and believe it or not, the brand name isn't on the med bottle where it usually says "so and so generic for ____".  Anyway, this is called CDPX/Amitrip 5/12.5 mg.  He wants me to taper off the Wellbutrin altogether by taking one in the morning (I take Wellbutrin SR 400 mg daily) and then one of the new pills at night before bed.  Well, I started that about a week ago and this new stuff he has me on makes me so tipsy that I have to go to bed right away.  It seems to help me sleep better as the Zanaflex wears off VERY early and then I still toss and turn all night (I've told my neurologist this on several visits but he just keeps telling me to "take more mg then.")  I have 4-mg tablets and was taking up to 5 per night, but as I said, even that wasn't keeping me asleep for very long.  It knocked me out, but then after 2 or so hours I wake up and then hard to get back to sleep.  Anyway, back to the CDPX/amtitrip......I feel hung over in the mornings, and am very groggy, with just taking it right before bedtime.  It takes me 2 cups of coffee to finally stop feeling hung over and I have never experienced that with Zanaflex.  I know when I tell the doctor this he will tell me to take it earlier in the evening (we already had that conversation early on with the Zanaflex issue).  But I cannot take it earlier because of mom responsibilities and having to work late hours.  The new med (CDPX/ami) makes me start feeling loopy almost immediately, so I am forced to take it just before I literally am ready to fall into bed.  I can't find this medication online; all I can find is CDP/amitriptyline (without the X).  Anybody know what the "X" stands for?  And has anyone else used this med so they can give me some advice?  I hate being on so many meds, and am trying to wean myself off of whatever I see isn't working.  Thus far, nothing has really helped with the migraines except for Fioricet.  He wanted me to take the muscle relaxer at nighttime, thinking that if I was able to relax and get some good sleep I'd not wake up with a headache, but that just does not/has not worked for me.  He gives me Fioricet, Lorcet Plus, and Phenergan (for the nausea I get with migraines, but that knocks me out, which, if I have a migraine, is great, but my husband has to be home to take care of the kids because I'm in a coma for a full 12 hours or so and the Phenergan makes me feel hung over as well.)  He gives me 30 Fioricet a month, and it seems that if I can take one routinely each morning (I have tried this for a few days at a time) that seems to ease up the "normal" headache I have, rather than try not to take anything, but then I may need one later in the day and since I only have 30 it's hard to make them last if I take one daily, which I don't because of only having 30, but would like to because that routine seems to work. But I'm afraid to ask him to up the # of tablets per month because I type for a pain management doctor who tends to dictate a lot about drug-seeking patients and I don't want my doctor to think this of me!!!  I know it sounds crazy, but it's got me so paranoid I'm afraid to ask!  I hope this information is understandable....I know I've jumped back and forth...if anyone has any ideas or advice I'm all ears.  Thanks!!

Thanks to you all.  You know, I never thought about it being a sleep problem.  I have never slept well through the night.  I can remember a very few times when I actually slept through the night and woke up refreshed.  I have always, always had a terrible time sleeping.  I wake up every hour every night, except when I take the Zanaflex and/or the new anti-depressant, and then I wake up after 2 or 3 hours, but then every hour after that.  Needless to say, I am so not rested in the mornings.  Getting a sleep apnea study is an excellent suggestion.  I will mention that to my doctor and see if he can refer me to someone.  Thank you all again so much.
You can get meds for that. I know. I am an MT.

especially meds
I am in the same boat.  I am interested especially in how to use short cuts regarding meds and their dosages.  Thanks.
ER psych meds
standard formula given in emergency: Haldol 5 mg, Ativan 2 mg, Benadryl 50 mg
combination of 3 meds usually (sm)
Most hospitals have their own chemo cocktails for mouth sores but most consist of Mylanta/ Maalox, Benadryl and lidocaine or xylocaine anything to numb the soreness of the ulcers.
Okay, bye! Don't forget to take your meds on the way out!
The level of anger and frustration is actually quite sad.
I don't remember how many meds there were, but...
the poor lady was admitted with lightheadedness, dizziness, etc.  By the time the doc was done listing the huge list of medications, even I could figure out what her problem was!!!  It was no wonder she couldn't stand up straight!
I only add the dosages for very few meds. sm
Toradol 60 mg IM = T60

I found that for most meds that have multiple possible dosages, it just isn't speed-friendly to have multiple macros for 1 drug...like I use "ty" for Tylenol, but having a different one for each possible dose would be like ty325, ty650, ty975, etc., but somehow I'm faster NOT doing this. I only use the toradol one above because I always, always, always here it that way for one of my hospitals.
Other meds..allo is allopurinol, sim is simvastatin, vanc is vancomycin, etc. I tend to use begining syllables for my drug macros.
