OK LET ME RECAP THIS

It seems that this discussion is way off what I originally meant, so let me just say this:

What I was originally upset about was the "make money quick work from home" scam that was being advertised in my area. Basically it was to "show" people how to get into the MT profession (by taking their short two week course).

This kind of advertisement makes us look bad. It makes us look like joe blow off the street can do this job without a problem. That isn't true.

My point was that for someone to be an MT they should have to have some type of proof of LIGITIMATE training, be it college, MT school, or life learning credentials (i.e. MTs who have been at this for quite some time now who started back when it wasn't all the rage).

Just like a doctor has to have proof that they know what they are doing, MTs should have to have proof that they know what they are doing.

The reason our wages go down and there are so many people out there MTing who shouldn't be (i.e. the ones who do it ONLY so they can work from home, not because they are into medical, or enjoy it. That's like being a full time preacher for the money!) and the reason that there is so much sub-par work out there is because it has become so simple for someone to say they are an MT.

I think that is one of the reasons that they get away with sending our work overseas. If people knew how important our work is, they wouldn't appreciate the fact that some person in India who probably doesn't speak a whole lot of English and probably doesn't have medical training is typing their permanent medical file.

I don't care about AHDI, AAMT, whether it's college or MT school like Andrews. What I care about is that since I have graduated and begun working as an MT I see a profession that should be held in high regard laughed at and the people who do the job paid horribly. I told someone the other day that I do medical transcription from home and they said "Gee have you been paid yet because that's a scam!"

I know things are getting bad everywhere, not just in the MT profession. Still, we need a way to have ourselves heard. I don't know how to do it. I thought AHDI was supposed to be our go to group all through school, but then I find out they support outsourcing and a couple of other bad things and I think the group may have started out with good intentions but now they are just money hungry like a lot of other companies.

So anyways, I'm sorry if I was misunderstood originally. I just really wish we could find a way to "fight for our rights" and to be taken seriously. Like I said, I am new at this. I have had the pleasure of knowing some long time MTs and watching them work and I hope to one day be as good as they are. But I'm afraid at the rate we are going that the MT profession may not be around much longer.

Recap for the first season (sm)
It really is a great show. Love the chemistry on the show between the cast & the story line is never boring. Can't wait until next week!
I was a recap of the first season to bring you up to date.
Another show did that recently too.  Next week starts the new season and yes, she lost the baby (ectopic if I remember correctly).
Grey's anatomy finale recap comments

Denny died after his transplant,  embolism.  Alec was very kind and nice to Izzie afterward.  Meredith and Derek had some steamy intimate moments at the end.   Finn seems very taken with Meredith but it will probably do him no good.   The prom part seemed rather far fetched.    Burke and Christina were hand in  hand near the end of show. His surgical ability will probably return, after all what would Grey's be without him??    George and the lady orthopod are becoming closer.   Next season should be interesting indeed.  This show is my very favorite series, also like ER but Grey's is better.
