Isn't THAT pretty straight forward!?
He wants it on there because he wants the transcript to go out NOW!!  Perhaps he doesn't have time to read it NOW but you can bet your sweet bippee they read ALL transcripts unless they all have photographic memories, and half these doctors don't even have the common sense to press pause on their digital recorders, so assuming they have photographic memories or just naturally remember what each and every patient's problem is and everything they did for the patient and said to the patient, well, it's a REAL long shot.  USE YOUR HEAD. This is common sense!
pretty cool

I checked that out, and it is pretty cool for $29.95.
I sent the EQ-50 back after I had problems with background hiss myself. I actually now use a jerry-rigged old boombox of mine that has a 5-band equalizer (just patch from my speakers to the boombox with a line-in cord and then plug my headphones into the boombox).

I wonder if there is some kind of cheap USB-to-USB adapter you could plug into your computer and then plug the Turtle Beach into? I personally wouldn't want to keep plugging and unplugging something like that to be able to use the speakers (from past experience with plugging and unplugging keyboards and phones and such too much, I've learned to just use a little in-between, easily replaceable adapter/cable/etc. in order to save the wear and tear on the device's actual jack/socket).
**Pretty Cool** Sound-Off board

This morning I noticed an ad in The Orlando Sentinel about this new board which just opened yesterday. It's called the Sound-Off board where you complain about whatever you want. It seems pretty funny. It's at this page.

Give them a week's written notice...I'll be leaving xx/xx, please forward final check to . t
why would you have to say anything else?
Come to Maine in February, you'll cool off :)

However, it has been soooooo hot here for a month.  I'm not just talking heat, we get 95 degrees with 86% humidity and even the kitchen floor is sticky under your feet. And that's with the AC on, choking in the background.  The humidity makes everything sticky.  115 degrees of dry heat is like oven heat.  95 degrees of humid heat is like a sauna and you feel as if you're sucking in water when you breathe.

But February. . . .nice and cool.  20 below 2 weeks in a row.  A good day might go up to 2 (that's degrees).  In February we can't wait for the hot humid weather.  In July we can't wait for snow, but not for February though, more like December when it's a nice 20 above.

I've been using it a few years now. It's pretty good. You'll get used to it. -nm

It's not you, it's the program. You'll get
used to it. You can't slow it down or speed it up, distorts it. Sometimes if I have a very slow talker, I can speed it up and manage.

Second question, I do about 60 minutes a day and usually end up with about 500-700 lines, so figure you'll have to shoot for 130 minutes. I can't do that anymore, takes forever. It is the worst program I have ever used. Feel for you.
Cool site! I'll be back. Coolblooded is feature of Universal Cosmos: http://ranchero.com/netnewsw
Nice post. I'll return. Corner will Gnome unconditionally , when Soldier Con Boy Make Universal, Coolblooded, Memorizing nothing comparative to White , Tremendous is feature of Central Cosmos Pair will Chair unconditionally
I'll try to help best I can... I had to program mine also for Emdat...

OK, first click on Inscribe and get to the login screen, don't log in though.  Go to options and make sure it is set to "Windows Media".

OK, now go into your foot pedal and click on "Settings"  Go to the "Incoming" tab.  Click on the "add" botton at the bottom.  Then click the "computer Network Folder" and then click the "..." button.  Go into Local disk, Program Files, Emdat, then Inscribe.  Under Inscribe there should be a folder w/ your login name.  Click on that and then click  the "OK" button.  Now the file showing in the box beside " Computer Network Folder"  Should be a program file ending in your login ID.

Now still in the "Incoming" tab go down where it says "Loading Mode"  Check the Automatic all files, and pick your interval time.  Mine is set on 2 minutes.  Next to that is a box for "File Types"  I have all checked just in case.  Now you click "OK" and it should work.  Took me a while to figure this all out but after messing with it for a few days I found the right things to do.

Let me know if this made sense of if you need more help.  BTW, who do you work for that has Emdat, if you don't mind telling.

Well I did that and I can get it to go forward now but I can back up the dictation only go forward.

Discovery
Landed in California without any problems.
Did Discovery land safely?
nm
I've seen the one on HBO, but there is another 2 parter on Discovery
I haven't seen that one, but my son told me there were a lot of things on that one that he hadn't seen before.  I'm going to watch for it, but I don't know the name of it.
Discovery Health Channel has a show Sat and Sun a.m.
that are good for CECs if you watch the show then take a test on line on the website.  I have a bunch of them recorded but haven't watched them yet, too busy!  I may disagree with how the organization formerly known as AAMT is doing things, but I am proud to be a CMT and aim to stay that way!
Anyone catch Discovery Health Channel last night?
I always watch the Plastic Surgery epidoses with Dr. Jan Adams who narrates the different procedures profiled.  Anyhow, he was explaining how some patients are more susceptible to keloid formation, and in the subheadings where they type these words, they had it as "keyloid"  It just struck me as funny, being a medical show and all!
Wow, on Discovery Channel - Preg woman delivering suffers leak of amniotic fluid into mom's

mom having an allergic/anaphylactic reaction.

Heart can't push the goo through.

Body went into shock.

She couldn't breathe.

Her blood began to clot.

Docs did emergency C-section in 6 minutes.

Then mom went to cardiac arrest.

Then another catastrophic thing happened.

Paula began hemorrhaging massively from every part of her body....from eyes, ears, nose, every incision, every bump and bruise.  All her blood clotting factors had been used up.

Docs poured blood clotting factors into her.

The baby's chances of survival were at 50/50.

Mom was then noted to have unusual swelling in upper abdomen.

Surgeons reopened c-section.

Astonished to find 1 gal of clot-filled blood.  With the clots removed, her blood quit clotting.

Of the 10% of women who survive, most are brain-damaged. Only 1% survive without any damage.  She turned out to be in the 1% luckily.

A day later she was holding her baby and was OK.

=========

All this started with her first labor pain of her second child.  It was the leak of the amniotic fluid into her blood stream that caused her to immediately start to feel like her throat was "closing up" and she couldn't breathe (anaphylactic allergic reaction).  She passed out pretty quickly.

I think I'm pretty bright and pretty good, too, but
I am not a CMT. I am a medical transcriptionist who enjoys her job very much (most days). I have chosen not to pursue certification simply because I cannot afford to do so. I believe the certification is a nice thing to have, but I don't believe it is necessary for employment or for excellence in my job. If you can afford it, go for it. If you can't, don't feel too bad. You can still take pride in and do a very good job without it.
I have never found a program shorthand does not work with, it works outside the program (I think tha

PRD is a DOS program. I don't think it work with Word, a Window's program.

It will count everything if you go in the settings and program it to. Good program!
Sylcount is an awesome and accurate counting program also. That will count everything if you "tell it to".
Still looking forward
I have been reading this board for a short time now and have been pretty grateful for a lot of the information and advice.

What I am not grateful for? The sense that MT completely sucks and is the worst career choice anyone could make. I understand that people like to vent but there are some posts that just come across, to us who are learning and just getting into the field as very, as very bitter and very discouraging.

I am only posting this because I have a voice, too. I am looking forward to working from home, having people ask me how to do "do what you do at home", making some extra money (though I DO know that I won't be getting rich in this field), and learning all there is to learn about our language and the language of medical professionals.

Every job, every career, every field has its share things to hate. I'm sure MT won't be any different. But please, remember when you post that there are some of us who really want to enjoy and succeed in MT. Advising us to turn the other way and run just doesn't seem a fair thing to do.

I'm just sayin...
You could also forward your sm
calls to your cell phone while you're working.
Definitely looking forward to seeing it. sm
It's unfortunate that politics and business so strongly influence the health care we and other patients get, but they are, and his films provide additional information that is for the most part all too appallingly accurate on review. Those most surprised and disbelieving would benefit most by researching its veracity for themselves and not relying on the word of others. Besides, the films are always fun to watch if maddening.
forward it
There is a place somewhere on Homeland Security or FBI site where you can forward them suspcious emails and they check it out. Let the sender who told you to get screwed know that you are planning on doing this even if you don't forward them. I too am sick of the scammers and Viagra ads. Viagra doesn't qualify, but those money things do! I have even gotten "bank statement" things and I block them out or forward them over. After that, I don't hear from them again. Anybody else been getting junk faxes lately?
I am looking forward sm
to being back.  I have done a little here and there when needed but nothing where I could say I am "working."  I had some health problems of my own that are now resolved so it has been a long period.  Truthfully, I wish everyone could AFFORD to take a break.  I found out I also had burn out and the break (regardless of the reason) really has helped as far as MT goes.  I am looking forward to getting back to it.  Thanks.
We homeschool and we are all looking forward
to getting back to a structured learning time.  Homeschooling is not something we do, it is a lifestyle, and we are constantly learning, but we have an "official" 180 days as required by our state.
I look forward to talking with you again
in the future.
I look forward to hearing more
...especially about satellite connectivity. That is my big issue at the moment. We have high-speed, business-grade satellite with Direcway, but some companies cannot work with this. Do you know if DRC can?
flash forward
Those were the days!  My production dropped significantly when i had to switch from flash forward to shorthand.  But at least I have a job!
yep, IC..and looking forward to retiring!
Hoping to get off the merry-go-round next year, am very hopeful anyway.... My New Year's resolution....LOL.
Spring Forward,

Don't know about elsewhere in the US, but here in the east tonight is the night we turn our clocks ahead one hour.

I had some pretty serious medical problems a year ago and was completely out of it from the middle of March to the middle of April so I have no recollection of time during that period.  Does anyone recall the exact date that we "sprang" forward last year?

Never liked Gayle, not looking forward to her nm

The one I looked forward to...

He did his dictation at home I suppose and every night..."Daddy, stop talking, look at me".....for what seemed like hours on end.  Never took the child out, just let her screeeeeaaaam into the mic the entire time, while the wife talked in the background, oblivious to the child...I suppose she was glad someone was taking it off her hands.

Thank you!! I look forward to recieving it!

That and 'pay it forward'
loved that movie too!
Anyone have any fall TV shows you are looking forward to?

Two of my favories: Judging Amy and American Dreams, have both been cancelled. I'm down to ER now - can anybody point me at something that I should be watching? No HBO at our house, just regular satellite programming, broadcast channels. I started to get into Everwood last spring....

Mine was quite a bit more. Hmmm looking forward to that
xx
Was this about the shorthand tips? Looking forward to that.
nm
It does feel good looking forward.
Thanks MTPockets! You bring up a good point. I AM moving on and it is going to be okay. My kids need to see me normal and happy. That's two things my younger two have never seen because he's their daddy. This post became so fun and I love that! Thanks again to everyone to who posted!
Many thanks - look forward to hearing about the keyboard (nm)
Thanks
Pay It Forward........Kevin Spacey....
*Notebook* was also VERY sweet!!!
I'd "accidentally" forward it to a higher up.

Fast forward, very little stopping, no
calls. I have done this hospital so long that very easy for me, know the dictators, these are the 4s also. I do some straight (training hospital). My favs are ops also and it is just fast, fast typing and fast forward on the VR. I did not want to work fulltime anymore so set this 3000 per line on the days I work so I can still bring home what I want to make.
New Owner Please Come Forward And Show Yourself
Have you heard the rumor the Writer's Union is the new owner of this board and they will be promoting a Transcription Union? With Google's new Medical Record Depository, the public actually viewing their own records, our skills will be in demand and we can set our own standards of reimbursement. Supply and demand.
Flash Forward SNAFU

Working in WP 5.1 for DOS.  System is set up to automatically install Flash Forward when I boot up.  As the Flash Forward bar is running, it stops and gives me a pretty  blue flashing prompt saying "Attempt to add duplicate Abbreviation: blah, blah, blah.  Has anyone experienced this?  How do I get out of it?  I assume there must be some way to search for and delete the duplicate abbreviation, but beats me all to you-know-what.    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

fast forward audio?...
what does that mean? and are you really editing all for 99% QA or just fixing the "bigger issues." i'm not being snide, i really want to know your secret; my system is anywhere between regular typing speed to 1500 per report but averages out much lower than what you are getting.
You can use Shorthand in ANY program, it works outside your program
I have never found a platform it did not work with and I have worked on several different versions of Meditech. Just start using it.
It'll be the most expensive magazine subscription you'll ever get! No point in joining. nm
