I don't use WP, so I don't know if this will help or not, but it's something you could try.

Many Vista woes are caused by this user account control. You can turn this off, and many programs will then respond like they did in XP.

Go to Control Panel>User Accounts and click the "Turn User Account Control on or off" link. Follow the prompts to turn it OFF.

Then try your programs and see if they perform as intended.
