Sorry!

I know this is probably the wrong board, but I need positive thoughts
prayers, whatever you can spare.  I've been having left-sided chest pain for a couple of months now.  I had two irregular EKGs about 18 months ago but couldn't get in with a cardiologist before losing my health insurance due to job loss.  They've got a huge waiting list to get in, and "younger" people are at the bottom of the list.  I'm just feeling panicky because I'm worried that it's breast or lung cancer or heart disease or something, and I've got young kids at home.  I just hope this doctor doesn't treat me like I'm a hypochondriac because I'm a female Transcriptionist over the age of 30.
Wrong board, but gavage feedings

I'll bring the dip and the half and half ;)

Is Error rate post on wrong board?
No responses -- just wondering if I should be on a different board?  Could you direct me please? I am new to this site. I own a small medical transcription service with 19 transcriptionists -- needing to implement an error rate policy and looking for suggestions on how other services have done this?  Thanking you in advance for any and all assistance!  D.
When I copy my resume to the ads on the job board it gets all messed up, dates on the wrong line,
and I have to straighten it all back out again, so that the name of the hospital that I worked at is on the first line, then the dates worked there, etc.  My question is, do I need to straighten this out or does it just mess it up more for the person who is trying to print it out who receives it.  It is perfect when I copy it from MSword, but then when I paste it, it is messed up.  Should I straighten it out to look right because the place that is hiring will read it from that place that I copied it to or should I leave it the way it was originally because they will open it to a larger screen and it will appear normal again?!  I'm not sure which I should be doing so that the person on the other end gets a normal appearing resume!  Thanks for your help!
In Calif., gas is around $4.11-$4.80, and

I get $23.50/hr. in N. Calif, which is still low for cost of living. nm

Cross country trip to CALIF and
back. My husband and I took three weeks and drove to California and back through the Southwest. Saw Yellowstone and the Giant Sequoias, Santa Fe, Sedona, etc. We had never been there and it was great just driving with no set plans, stopping along the way whenever and where ever we wanted... such freedom.. My second best was a week and a half to Glacier Falls, Montana, but that's been years and years ago. Heck, any vacation is a great one! My bags are packed and ready anytime!
$256.00 for June electric bill in Calif.

Am curious if anyone's else is outrageously high.  Mine typically is $150-200 for summer months.

I keep temp at 82 during day, 78 at night.  Temperatures here soar to 95-100 though.  But, I live alone and have gas hot water, gas stove.

Working at home has its pluses and minuses!  Leaving the air off for 8-10 hours a day while I was at the hospital working saved me a lot of cash in this utility bills.

Falling asleep...
I don't even need the alarm. I put my head back on the "cushy" part of the chair, tell myself "okay, I need 5 minutes," and I'm out like a light and will wake up 5-6 minutes later! I think the sheer boredom of what we do has a hypnotic effect on some of us and causes this. But you're right, when you wake up you're okay for awhile until the next time, whether it's 1 hour later or 4 or whatever. Glad I'm not the only one.
Sorry about that, guess I was asleep for
that answer.
falling asleep
Yes. I have it also, but mine is a health issue due to not sleeping post laminectomy syndrome. I have found that eating hot chips and/or eating crushed ice really helps. Above all since you are healthy, agree with the others see a doc. Hope this helps in the meantime.
You must live in Calif - finding a good old doctor is nearly impossible here.
It amazes me. But, it is true. The stories I have heard are heartbreaking.

I blame it on the cap they placed on malpractice suits. Doctors here are complacent. In my town, we go to Stanford or UCLA for serious illnesses. It is well worth the drive.
Yep. I was falling asleep sitting up.
I went to the neurologist, and he put me on Provigil. Works pretty good. I'm also switching to an earlier work shift.
I'll be asleep, but the NY one is the ONLY one to watch! :) nm

LOL--Agree. I fall asleep sometimes too..
just nod right off. I go back and listen, and I've always typed it correctly.
45 to 70 minutes, if I don't fall asleep. nm

I actually did fall asleep once, and kept typing.
When I semi-woke up at the end of the report I sent it in without extra proofing...had to do some fancy explaining the next day!  Now when I get that way, I take a 20-minute nap (set a timer).  It really does help for a couple of hours.
I do the same thing! I have fell asleep at ...sm
my keyboard before. It sucks trying to wake yourself up. I haven't found anything really that helps me that much.
Falling asleep at the keyboard

I wondered if anyone has any tips for me.  I have been an MT going on six years.  Suddenly, whenever I am typing, I am drifting off to sleep (and somehow still typing?).  I have tried background noise, getting up and stretching, walking, drinking, eating so much I've gained weight, nothing works!  As soon as I start typing, I relax and can't hold my eyes open.  Finally, I take a nap but my line count is really taking a hit.  This has gone on for several months.  I do not believe it is a health issue - I have always been healthy as a horse.  I think it is bordom or lack of mental challenge?  I really can't see myself moving on to another career.  Help!  I need to stay awake!  Anyone else have this problem?

falling asleep at the keyboard

Actually, I do.  If I am a passenger I cannot stay awake.  If I am driving, I realize I am halfway where I am going and cannot remember anything leading up to that point (such as lights, stop signs) like I am on autopilot.  Maybe I should see a doctor.  I appreciate all the responses.

This heat is unbearable in central Calif. Air quality is bad. I have never felt so unhealthy.
Over 100 degrees for 30 out of 35 days, the other days were 98 or 99. The air is so bad here in this pocket of the country that people are told to stay indoors. I sit for hours typing and then feel like a slug. Drinking gatorade for hydration and know it is high in sodium but am evaporating here, taking two showers a day as there is a constant dust cloud (particulates ugh).

I want to move but doing it alone at the age I am is a daunting task. What if I end up some place that is just as bad? The expense would make it impossible to relocate again. Wish I were rich...
I worked with a woman in her mid 80s. Did your friend/coworker live in Calif. by chance?
She was great.
I only relisten if I was falling asleep while typing. -nm

As you can already see, you've come to the wrong board! By using the word professional, you've
excluded about 99% of the population of "whatever" it is that hangs on these boards. Certainly not professional for sure! But you sure are doing a good thing for someone! Its the thought that counts. Sorry you met the dregs right at the start.
So true, when I worked inhouse, the doc fell asleep
while dictating and actually continued to dictate while asleep "we packed the leg wound with BBQ sauce and grilled it". The service typed it as such and flagged it. Boy, was doc ever embarrassed. His fault for doing 50 charts at a pop.
Calif is attempting to revoke the "employee shares salary info with another employee" penalty.

My problem with working outside is falling asleep, what with the birds singing, the gentle
:+
I typed a report on the wrong patient as the doc keyed in the wrong info, SM
He later said the correct patient's name and I SWEAR to this day I made the changes but somehow the report when through without the correct patient and changes made. I still remember that incident.
Fantasia wrong??? Haven't seen the OP's CD, couldn't have been too wrong.
