just had the CBS affiliate on here in Miami and they are saying Ike is now a Cat 1, but expected to strengthen to a Cat 3 with landfall either in TX or Mexico by Saturday morning.

East Coast and West Coast are both comparable
as far as line rates.
Where are you located, HE? East Coast, West Coast? nm

West coast prices are usually higher (I work for a west coast company) sm

for one thing. I am in a rather economically depressed area and I START my price at .14 and drop a penny for each of several things - no tapes, sending electronically, etc.

This job of the OP may be a bugger-bear to transcribe. Even .14 may be too low.

West Coast to Amherst
I am a little confused--areyou located on the West Coast and your account was transferred to Amherst, did your office close?? It seems that any account that Foxboro or Amherst gets, they just load up with as many MT's as they can, this could be from over hiring and it could from the lose of existing accounts, whatever, it does not make sense, you don't go around making thrats about hiring other people. Is upper management getting bonus's from this??
Gulf coast still devastated
Some of you do not realize how devasating the two hurricanes this past summer were to the coastal states and the country.  If he is working anywhere near the devastation, the areas are congested and nasty.  Trash is still being piled up on the streets, the stench is unreal.  Hotels in Louisiana still house evacuees.  He might just want to spare her from what he has to look at while he is there.  Until you see in first hand, it is unbelievable.  My son had a doctor's appointment in NO a couple of months ago, (Goes to Ochsner once a year), luckily that was one small part of the city that was not devasated, but as soon as you got into NO the smell hits you.  A once beautiful city, still in devasation.  Even where they did have people living, there were still street lights out sporatically everywhere.  I will be a long time if ever.  Sorry, got off the subject.  Just trust your heart and trust your husband.
West coast here - still daylight! - nm

You must live on the east coast..sm
I used to live there too and it was either rain, humidity or hurricanes. I feel your pain, and I am so glad I moved back to the midwest. I wish you luck. Keep your powder dry!.
Did the west coast get to see Big Brother yet? nm

The East Coast is a big place.
The going line rate in NYC or Boston would probably not fly in SC or FL. Your best bet is to call around to some clinics in your area and see what they're paying. Also, I would bill by character line, not report. JMO
I think 8:00 PM gives those on the west coast a little more time and

Thanks, but this company is only on the west coast. nm

Has anybody heard about which places on Tx coast have
This occurred after the local news was done and all national outlets are still saturated with McCain's ad and lipstick on pigs. would appreciate reliable info.  I live on the Texas coast.
You can't judge people by what coast they live on....
I am originally from the East Coast and I am NOT a "nasty woman". The writer was cold hearted yes....but it doesn't give you the right to blame the East Coast. You could live anywhere...it depends how you were raised in the long run. I was taught to always treat others as I would expect to be treated...imagine that from an East Coast momma! Have a good day.
Yes, live on W Coast and my acct transferred
over to Amherst.
Anyone else along the gulf coast who is watching Rita?

East coast will pay that amount and even go higher

Out of considertion for people who may have DVR'd it or are on west coast, put

11 to midnite East coast time
is when they'll be watching it.
Two of them are metro one Midwest and one East Coast so....
that means many, many physicians, probably hard to get used to them, probably teaching hospital, so many residents? Many ESL's??? Probably huh? Hmmmm. Scary!
Come on over to the west coast too where interracial marriage
It is very small minded to think that crossing races to marry is wrong.  Again, we are all people, no matter what color we are.  For example, I would rather my daughter marry a black man who treated her with respect, love, kindness, being an equal than married to a white man who treated her like trash.  Note that I said EXAMPLE, the race could vary of course.
west coast metropolitan area gets 14 cpl
yes, 14 cpl with pick up and delivery. Probably one of the highest in the nation. But, my friend who did local work for 20 years was just outsourced to India along with the other gals, the whole large clinic, so there goes THAT job !

BTW, do you already do local work? Do they supply the transcriber and set you up, or do you have to have that set up already and set THEM up? That has been a mystery to me as I have only worked online with nationals....how to get started with local work.. Maybe a counselor or something like that. My friend is no help as she started 20 years ago for the same company and does not know how things go nowdays.
im sure it will be... maybe moderater is on west coast time?
I dont know how the moderating works, but if I got emailed and my post deleted because i said the name of another website just in asking a question... then this surely must be deleted
OK, I'll bite -what on earth does the East Coast have to do with it?
Please enlighten me!
I tested at a local hospital on the East Coast...
The pay was $14.82 per hour to start. They were paying medical unit secretaries $14.60. Also the job was per diem, needless to say I didn't take it.
WalMart pays about 8$ an hour, Pacific coast.nm

I feel for them but more so for the people on the MS Gulf Coast who are still in tents sm
its cold here now (27 degrees this a.m.) and some people are STILL sleeping in tents behind the truck stops. :(
I miss the food on the East Coast totally. sm
Love Colorado to live, but really miss the culture and the food on the East Coast. I stop at a simple diner on the PA Turnpike in New Stanton, and a cheeseburger and cole slaw is better than any dinner I could get in Colorado to me.
East Coast NYC area 18 cents a line, if ur a CMT

Texas

I think she is thinking of the one in Austin, I believe.  Don't remember when it was, but I do remember someone shooting at the students on campus, was it University of Texas?

Texas weather
We haven't hit 100 yet, but i'm sure it is in the near future. Thank God I'm not in arizona!
TEXAS school
Does anybody know of a good MT school in Dallax, TX
Texas School
Stay away from the "trade" schools and business colleges - nothing but a waste of your or the governments money - I know, I worked for one. Try to find a community or junior college with an accredited program. The noncredit courses are also mostly a waste of your time and money - unless you already have some experience and are just wanting to brush up. Hope this helps.
TransTech in Texas does them. nm

lived in Texas too
I posted to you about where to look. We also lived in Dallas and they are overpriced too.  You don't pay a state income tax in Florida, but there are a lot of hidden sales taxes and such.    The problem with living on the water is you can't get insurance and if you find it, it's extremely high.  We left Florida and went to Biloxi, Mississippi and it was about half the cost of Florida and we were 1 block from the beach. We had planned to go back but it will take a few years to be rebuilt. In the meantime, heading to TN as they do not have a state income tax, a vehicle tax, and the property taxes are much much less.
Was this company in Texas?

Pecos, Texas
is where I was born...a hot dry dusty place.  Lived around Ft.Worth area growing up, then got married and raised a family around Cleburne, TX....I currently live in Arkansas, where it is beautiful and the people are more friendly.  I have 20 acres in the woods, so could not be in a better place for me.  I have my two dogs, three cats and together we are a pack, with me as the leader of course, ha ha.  Kids have grown and left home, are both in their 20's.  Gotta get back to work.  Living out here is the perfect place to work from home, but I cannot just work all day in a nightgown, have to get dressed except for shoes (like to use footpedal barefooted) to get in a mindset of "going to work".
Hope this is not a doc in Texas. sm
I had a podiatry doc that did this and it was not worth doing as he only wanted to pay 3.50 per page but the margins were 0.25 on each side, 9 size font, and 0.25 top and bottom margin. Awful, awful, awful!

Live in Texas....
I'm on balanced billing since I like to know exactly what my bill will be every month. It is $238/month year round. We have a family of 4 and keep the house at 75 all the time with all the fans running as well. My DH would like to keep it cooler, but that is cool enough for me!
MOVING TO TEXAS

Stay away from the D/FW area and Houston - too much traffic and illegals.  Drugs, gangs, etc.  Try to find a small town or country setting.  It is HOT and the concrete of the cities just increases that heat.  Also the pollution in these areas is bad so if you have any type of lung or breathing problems - stay away.  However, if you do not mind sitting in traffic for an hour to get to a job 10 miles away - then you should move to a big city.  If you are planning to work from home, remember that internet is not available everywhere in Texas.  Personally, I wouldn't move to Texas - I would choose SC or FL - much better options.

Is it the Texas heat?

I think we may have worked for the same lady!  She never had the AC on in her office except for a unit in the room with the phone equipment to keep it cool, so my husband used to say that it must be the heat frying her brain cells.  If it isn't the same lady, it's a real clone.  I don't work for her anymore, either!

Actually, in Texas the employer must have
if they do have such policy, they must follow it.

I checked. :)

Texas drivers
I live in TX and have never heard of this. Have ins through AAA, just renewed last month in fact. No mention of this. Where did you get your quote?
I had the same problem with a Texas Co. Email me
I'm just wondering who the company is and if it is the same one I worked for. I eventually got paid but they used the old "check got lost in the mail" routine.
