The office transcription software

used the internet where I worked. If you work in an office, you are an employee, and the office manager sets those things up. If their computer doesn't use the internet and nobody there is on-line, then they probably won't get it just for you. You can use books, though. I'd let the OM know what books I thought I needed and see if he/she would get any they don't already have.

It is possible for transcription software to
be cherry-picking proof. At the service I work for, if you pull a report you can put it back, but it won't be available to anyone else for 2 hours, and the next one you pull will be -- guess what, the same report, for the next 2 hours.

I think it is great.

Of course, there is nothing to prevent the clients from cherry picking their good dictators to other cheaper or offshore services, and of course my employer could do the same if it chose to do so.

Really, any one who cherry picks is only hurting themselves, because you never learn to be a good transcriptionist if you don't tackle the harder stuff. It may pay financially in the short run but won't give you long-term job stability, because it will always be possible for services to send the easy stuff offshore, but the people who can do the tough work in the US will always be needed. I just hope the compensation issue reaches a proper balance. Tougher work and more responsibility makes for higher stress, lower line counts, and deserves higher compensation.

Transcription software

what type of transcription software do you use if you are planning on sending work over the internet.  I currently am working where I have to pick up a tape from a docs office every night.  I would like to pick up another account and would prefer to do it over the internet, but am not sure what company to use?  What type of recorders would the docs need, how do they get their voice files onto their system, send it to a server for me to pick up, etc.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Cheryl

Software to Use to Set Up Digital Transcription Service

Hi Everyone,

Looking for assistance with setting up a digital dictation transcription service.  What is the appropriate software to use for the digital dictation, transcription, downloading voice files, typing reports, uploading reports to facility, HIPAA compliance, etc.  Would like to do this without spending a huge amount of money, but at the same time want to be secure and compliant.  Any and all assistance would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Olympus 4000 transcription software.
This system has an encryption feature. I do my work like LuvDigital.
What software are you using with the foot pedal and for transcription? Sm
Express Scribe, Bytescribe Wav Player, etc.????  There should be something under options/settings for selecting USB with these software programs.

Sorry, you are experiencing this situation. I feel for you, and probably more so because I have gone through this situation many times. As an experienced business owner of a small medical transcription company in the past, it is unfortunate, but true that some medical offices can be rude and certainly don't communicate well when they are looking to replace you by either someone cheaper, or by technology. I have had this experience many times. In all the years I had a business, I kept a very professional demeanor with all my clients, but found that many did not treat me in the same manner.

In regards to being concerned about whether or you need be concerned about technology taking over your work, that depends. It depends in your area. I find that there are pockets of towns or cities that are going to that technology or an EMR program for the medical practice, or experimenting with voice recognition programs for a small practice. The technology is there, no doubt. When an office finds it successful, the doctor tells his colleagues how much he is saving without the transcriptionst, and well, there you go. Soon other doctors in that area will begin trying it too. Then there are some doctors, who no matter now much they might save, want nothing to do with technology that will make them do one more thing in their day. In my area, transcription has all but dried up because it has been taken over by office software that is basically EMR. Good luck, and hopefully you can find other accounts,
Not using Windows-based transcription software but need macro.. sm
program that does not require one to know computer programming to use. I am using Bayscribe and it is not Windows based so am unable to use any Windows macros to perform simple things I could save time on.  I checked out Auto Hot Key which sounds great but is just above my computer-challenged abilities as I know no programming language.  I searched the internet and found several programs under "macro recording" but before I invest in one would like advice and opinions!  Thanks for any help.
How to get a transcription job in a doctor's office. ??

In the past 3 years, I have never once seen an ad in the papers for a Transcriptionist to work in house (or at home for that matter) at a doctor's office.  For those of you that have those jobs, how did you get them?  Did you know someone at the office?  Maybe no one ever quits these jobs and that is why there are no postings?

Anyone just sit down with the phone book and start calling?

Anybody know of any free foot pedal/transcription software besides Express Scribe? TIA. nm

Yeah, you're right. Who cares who licenses your software? Heck, I use all pirated software anyw

why pay for anything, right?

Except that is AGAINST THE LAW!!!

A friend of mine got one and she is finding that some of her software, specifically her ISP software

If u need server software, try guild ftp. If just user software
then try cuteftp, coffeecupftp, or wsftp. They don't charge a line rate and I believe guildftp server software is still free.
Have most people had good luck with their MQ office closing and moving to the regional office. Have
things gotten better or worse for you.
Yes, I lost mine. I upgraded the Office 2000 package to Office 2003. sm
I have over 2000 autocorrect entries and lost them all as well as my supplemental dictionary for my Stedman's spellcheck. Lots of grief!

Maybe you will be lucky and not lose anything. Good luck to you.
Might be able to rent one from an office supply or office machine repair shop

Office politics. That is why I enjoy working at home. In the office,
people are in other people business. Just mind your own business.
Can anyone suggest an office in MQ that is not run like this Amherst office. They are absolutely
pathetic. I wonder how many other MTs are in that office in the same situation.
Just DQS from my office was transferred and the rest are getting on DQS before the office closes.

Office 2003 so far, but going to Office 2007 as soon as I can. nm

Agree, verbatim transcription equals poor quality transcription.

Another big factor is software. If the software isn't
transcription friendly, it can really hurt your bottom line.

Otherwise, $1.20 per report is a pretty decent rate for radiology.

Good luck - hope it works out for you.
Know AIM transcription system, never heard of Hull transcription. Are you sure
you are not thinking about DHull who is a recruiter for MDI-FL?  They use the AIM system.
30 day TAT in this office ... office politics at its best

I have kept in touch with an MT I worked with at the last in-house job (radiology).  This was inpatient radiology and also an outpatient radiology clinic the hospital operated.

One of the girls, a person who at one time folded towels but who was hired as a clerk, was just discovered to ahve not mailed out reports for 30 days.  These include both in house reports and outpatient reports.  They have been sitting on her desk because she "has not had time to do them."

What do you make of this?   The lead MT is close to this girl (hence her being moved from housekeeper to clerk) and is trying to minimize the impact that not having the reports mailed to referring physicians' offices, as if it is a minor problem (how they found out about it is a doc's office called the MT's supervisor and asked why 30 days worth of reports were mailed to their office yesterday.

They were keeping it from the director of radiology.  I think this is BIG and that heads should roll for negligence.

What do you think?

at home vs office - i am in office
well, I really was referring to the MONSTER MANAGER that I have, who has her favorites here, and she assigns them the easy doctors who say the same thing over and over, you know.  I have to do something.  I am losing my SELF at this point, with no church and no family.  The stuff on here about running out of work, my lack of computer savvy, all  has me just frozen. MOre about in-office.  Do you have little habits like talking out loud to the dr?  Someone will complain about you.  Do you ever say a cussword?  Someone will complain.  Do you ever sigh?  Complaints.  About age - I was offered 2 trans. positoins in San Diego before I came here.  I had gone to a seminar about how to look for work over age 55, had revamped my resume and my "presenting" self, and it made all the difference.  Things are way different than they were evern 10 years ago, you will be judged by someone younger than you, but in this line of work they do appreciate experience and reliability.  And the computer doesn't care if you're pretty.  It's not your age unless you are sickly.  Don't give up!!  if that's what you want.

NEW SOFTWARE

I have been out of the loop lately.  What is this new software?  I am currently looking for a medical transcription job and need a little catching up, obviously.  I would REALLY appreciate a reply on this issue.

software
I work for a company that uses it and it's very simple to use.  I edit 90% and transcribe 10% and it's very simple to use.  Basically it's microsoft word with all the bells and whistles.
Software

I have used both Quick Books and Quicken and prefer Quick Books for invoicing, etc.  I have two checking accounts, personal and business of course, and pay my business bills through there -- even by subs and that downloads into Quick Books which can be downloaded into my Turbo Tax.   Also on my personal side that gives me my utilities payout total also and I can then just deduct my 20 to 25% of them for my taxes.   Works for me.

software
A place called Webchart contacted me and had a lot of the features you are looking for but it was quite expensive and I knew my docs would not go for it.  I could not afford several hundred dollars a month for it.   But you might do a goggle and see what comes up but the company name was webchart.
a/v software

aside from the fact that it's probably true..!!  hehe.

if anyone wants info a a terrific a/v proggie, please off-list (e-mail) me, and i will send the link.

Software Available
I am using a sotware that is designed by me. Let me know your email ID, I shall send you my software.

VR software
I work for a company who is a major developer of voice recognition software.  I do transcription for them also and some reports are done with the voice recognition software.  Yes, it is like basically editing.  That is unless you get a dictator with a heavy accent and the software even has a hard time understanding.  The dictators have to go through a training period and the software actually learns their voice and speech patterns.  The hard medical words it usually gets with no problem, but the smaller everyday words don't come through correct all the time.  Some doctors are great, others should not be using it at all.  It makes for quite an amusing report at times.  I know it is the way of the future but I personally would rather type the report myself than try and edit some mess.
software
go through the link http://www.core-software.com/TMinfo.htm for a good software
Is there any software out there....
that performs like a Dictaphone or C-phone where you can dial into a system with your computer and control the dictation with a foot pedal?  My Dictaphone is going haywire, and I was wondering about some kind of computer software to replace it, if there is such a thing.
To any software out there.... sm
go to http://www.nch.com.au/software/dictation.html

they have inexpensive call in solutions that work very well.

Good luck!
What the best software to use?
Me and a couple of my MT friends have decided to make a small little MT company. You know just the three girls, made a lil pamplet and all. We're hoping by banding together we can met new clients ect. I was wondering what Mt software -for when the clients upload the audio files-should we use? We're on a budget and can't afford the 2,500 SW that's we've seen online. ANy suggestions?
FTP software
I'm trying to learn new FTP software, FTP Navigator.  I can read the files but they are in word pad.  Is this right? I am trying to read their sample reports and would rather read them in Word.  Can anyone help? TIA
OEM Software
I worked for a computer company that sold new computers.  OEM software is perfectly legal software and can be registered. This software is only supposed to sold with computers and/or hard disk drives.  The software companies offer this software as OEM so manufactures, like Dell, can purchase the software at a reduced price and package it with their new computer systems.  Technically, it is not supposed to be sold by itself, but it is perfectly legal.
Do you know what the VR software is?
x
software
I use Express Scribe too. It is free to download and so easy to use!
It would have to be software like PC Anywhere (sm)
and I would think they would have to have your permission to put this on there. As far as their own software, it wouldn't be able to *spy* on you. If someone else knows something different, please correct me.
Software

Could you let me know what system you are using and if you like it?  For example, Vianeta, MD Intouch, Dictran.  I am trying to find a good system for my company and would appreciate your input.

Thanks

You will need more than the software.
Software is only the interface between your computer and the computer where the files are being stored. You need to have a secure server set up somewhere that you can upload/download files. These are not free. There is one site, www.ftptogo.com, that provides FTP space without needing software
What is the software you will be using?

Save Keystrokes and get paid more $$. These abbreviation typing programs expand an abbreviation macro typed into the keyboard and produce the expanded words or paragraphs they represent into your document automatically to greatly increase your typing speed. We offer Instant Text, Shortcut and Abbreviate.

you already do this with your autocorrect and autotexts or quickwords in WP, but this software allows you to port all your entries over to any transcription software that is "compatible" with whatever Expander you are using WITHOUT HAVING TO RETYPE THEM ALL AGAIN.  It can be pretty extensive and a time saver.

Software
Where does one get medical spell checker software and short word software? About how much and how long does it take to get it? I thought companies provided those. All the ones I worked for did.
You can always buy the XP software

find Vista doesn't work for you.  I think the software runs around $150, though.

I work on DocQScribe and was told that it would work on Vista, but there are a few bugs still that need worked out.  I think that's probably the general consensus.  It will probably work but have a few glitches.
