How do I go about getting money owed me
by a small MTSO.  She owes me a little over $2000 and I really worked hard for that money but have not yet gotten received it.  This is owed me for pay periods ending 4/30 through 05/31.  I will not mention names here because I'm not sure I am allowed to do that but would really like to let everyone know who it is so the same thing doesn't happen to them.   Thanks for your help.
If someone owed me money since October, I would tell them that I
was not doing any more work for them until they paid me. Hope you did not do the stat for them.
didnt work so owed no money
it is bigger equipment and expensive. AND they never worked so I did not owe them any money. Some were so "anxious" to work that I spent a small fortune sending it overnight so they could "get started" because they really needed to work. I want to believe in the best of people, but it is getting harder and harder.
Anybody hired a lawyer to get money owed from MTSO?
I have given MTSO 7 days to finally pay an old invoice but still nothing. Has anybody ever hired a lawyer to write a demand letter and how much did it cost? I believe I have to send demand letter before filing in small claims. The invoice is for just over $200 so don't want to spend a lot of money and be out even more $$.

thanks.
I have definitive proof from the MT that the money is owed. The MT is also taking action
on her part to get the unpaid wages compensated by the owner through the Labor Board.
kind of like folks who have money sm
don't talk about it but the ones who want you to think they do talk about it all the time!  Sounds like a low self-esteem problem to me too!
and that folks was where our "mom and pop" biz that we were making the money on...have gone!!
The biggies saw the opportunity to make the money that we were...and decided we made too much, so that is the story...long and short!! The future does not look good for us, only them and the india counterparts.
All those folks care about is making MONEY.

You burn out, you ask for help nicely, some folks lay on the guilt. I have offered money out of my
But you cannot make anybody do anything they do not want to.   I would rather try and pleasantly ask for help than lay on the guilt.  People send you hate notes whether you are pleasant or ugly though.  I find that even when you ask for help, a lot of the time with the team I am on, it tends to make fewer people show up than would anyway!
Actually, no, it's poor you! You're the one who paid all the money
ha
Heads up folks! I use Express Scribe wav player, but don't waste your money on their other

paid for products because they're buggy and have horrible customer support!  I bought Express Dictate for my doctors and Express Delegate and I have had nothing but one problem after another.  Forget calling, that's not an option.  I have emailed until I'm blue in the face and the "support" I get are canned responses and they do not address the problems I'm having.  They have a forum you can post on, but no one ever posts responses. My client has been extremely patient, actually too patient, and now I'm looking for another alternative.  I can't tell you how many sleepless nights I've had over the past almost 4 weeks.  Thanks for letting me vent...sigh....

They just represent some companies that already

post ads.   They try to decide which company would be a good fit for you and they do the testing for that company.  If you decide not to take a position with the referred company you'll never hear from them again.

I thought they might represent companies who didn't post ads or companies that might pay better, but I was offered a position, but they referred me to a company I had already been offered a position with and turned down and the compensation was the same.

It doesn't cost you anything, but to me was a waste of time.

They only represent a few companies and whether you

and the company are a good fit they will refer you to one of the companies they represent.   They represent the same companies that already post on the job boards.  When I went through them I thought maybe they were head hunters for companies who didn't want to deal with hundreds of resumes so didn't post ads.  I also thought that maybe they represented companies that paid better, but Matchmaker only mentioned one company to me and they offered me the same rate as I had gotten applying directly to the company.  I had declined a position when the company offered it to me so was not interested in pursuing it with MT.  After I told them I didn't want to accept the position I never heard from them again.

If you read the archives there are several similar stories.

They are a recruiting firm, but they represent some

of the same companies that post ads here.   They make it sound like they have a client base of all the MT companies, you apply with them and they match you with the company that best suits your needs, but they only represent a  few companies, and they may or may not be a good fit for you.  If you reject an offer with the company they refer you to you never hear from them again.   You don't get a better rate going through TM.

They are a legitimate though.

Unless an employer states you can represent them in
Few employers will want employees to advertise their personal lives in such a way and then tag it to their employer.

I don't blame them, either.

People have no sense.

They represent the loss of jobs for the

Exactly! Set up testing, issue a credential, represent the American MT. I love it! nm

I think they mean they don't pay what is owed
I used to work for somebody who did this.  They sent the work to India and they worked for free for about 3-4 months without getting paid (yeah, they kept working) and then they would move on to the next company.
poor, poor management
Line count stealing, no help, rude management, you name it SS has it if it is bad!!!!!!! Run, run, save your life.
I'm glad you think you are owed that much.
I have rarely seen such a ludicrous response as yours.

No moneys owed

Well the problem is........ she is not owed any other moneys.

I have been in business a long time and have always paid the ICs.  Doris Latta loves to have drama going.  THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING!  Where is it?

You should be paid what is owed...
I am glad you are not letting this go and posts like this should remind companies that when you receive a service you have to pay for it. I have had trouble getting paid from other places too, and I am glad you are going after what is rightfully yours. Best of luck to you!

No, they sent me a check for 2 cents saying they owed it to me. lol
I had better decide where to spend it
I once owed $34,000.00 in back taxes
and set up a repayment schedule, had the money taken out.  They did not take all my check, just a small amount, as long as they were paid every month, and it took me over 7 years, but I finally paid them off.  They were very, very cooperative and we told that what we could afford to pay them monthly and still pay our bills.  They said okay and that was that.  I never had any problem with them and I never went to one of those places.  Maybe try talking with them and explain your situation.
Your $4K cost you $900?? I just did my taxes and on $7182 I owed - sm
$1099 in SE taxes, are you sure you figured it out right? I can't believe my taxes for almost 2 x as much were only $200 or so more than yours. Something does not seem right.
They at least owed you a call/email stating they would not -
After being in contact with an applicant, having them fill out a form, etc., it's just plain rude to give them no feedback whatsoever. What if an applicant let another job pass by while waiting for this one, thinking it was a better job and that because things had gone well on the phone conversation, that the application process would at least continue. Very unfair to you, and very rude of the employer.
Send me the proof of the over $1900.00 that is owed. If you can prove to me
that you paid that amount, then all posts will be removed.  I am not talking about any previous monies paid, but the last monies owed of over $1900.00.
BK does not cover student loans or IRS owed monies. bummer.

Ditto on Voice Systems. I have a friend who worked for them and ended up being owed .... SM
way more than $1000 when the first company went bankrupt. Also I had applied but decided not to take the job, and the MTSO literally begged me to come to work for them. I'm sure glad I didn't. Maybe this present company they've started will be better, but so far, it doesn't sound like it.
Get an attorney now
Find an attorney that will take your case - then let them write the letter. Just talk to a couple who handle medical malpractice -these are severe medication errors.
attorney general
good idea.  I have contacted an attorney already (I am a corp by myself so I have access to an attorney) and he states that legally there is nothing right now that I can do. I can possibly sue them later down the road, but they have not done anything illegal. He suggested to try and "sugar" them into paying me.  I will contact the attorney general's office. The company and I are in the same state, so that helps tremendously.
Get an attorney and have them draw one up for you. sm
It costs about $200 and well worth it!
You can usually call an attorney and
But, you do have a receipt and the title. Let the person go ahead and make a fool of himself. You owe him nothing, don't let him bully you.

PS - Am very sorry for your loss.
power of attorney
by QA mgr says im supposed to capitalize but i dont agree (so i dont, hehe)
He was my divorce attorney

Call an attorney, but ....sm
In the state of NC a few years back, one person could not force the other to sell in this situation. I went through something similar with my siblings. I ended up buying their portions.

But, no, at that time and again in my state, you cannot be forced.
You get an attorney to type it up...sm

My dad's attorney typed it up for me and I had it notarized and then MAKE TONS OF COPIES because you have to prove you are able to make decisions for your Mom.  I had this power of attorney for 10 years, my dad dying last January.

I suppose you could get some form.....even probably at Office Depot...I got a living will there, actually a package of them.  It's just more complete to have an attorney do this 2-page paper for you...and not terribly expensive either.

Best of luck to you and your Mom.

Consult an attorney....
He'll tell you everything you need to know to operate a business, and it will be an hour's worth of money well spent......
You need a good attorney NOW!! My
friend's sister died at the age of 51 because a doctor prescribed birth control pills for the mood swings of menopause without first checking her triglycerides or doing any blood work. Her triglycerides were very elevated, and the addition of the medication caused her pancreas to shut down and she died. There is a big lawsuit on this one, too.
I would get an attorney to fire off a ...

letter.  I have had to do that several times in the past (not MT related), and it is amazing how quickly things are resolved.  It has only cost me $35 to explain the situation to the attorney and have a short letter sent.  I think it would be well worth it in your case...$35 vs. $1300.

Also, be sure to send the letter certified, return receipt requested.  Even though that is only to obtain proof of delivery, there seems to be something "official" about it...and that can't hurt.

If you hire an attorney (sm)
you an also request reimbursement for your expenses, court costs and attorney fees. I would mention this in my letter to the MTSO also. If this MTSO does this to you I guarantee you are not the only person they are doing it to.

Good luck
I think you should consult an attorney

who specializes in modifications and have them do a forensic audit of your loan.  Are you in one of those toxic arms?   WFB might be forced to modify your loan if attorney discovers any discrepancies.   If you don't want to consult an attorney I would suggest calling the lender and asking to speak to someone in the loss mitigation department.  The regular Joes in customer service aren't qualified to help you.  Be prepared to reference paystub/bill information and spend awhile on the phone.  I wish you well.

Make money? I'm not making any money because of my decision. You read my reasoning
You can agree with me or not, but don't make false assumptions please.
Capitalize Power or Attorney or not?

Hmm. Every doc, nurse, attorney, accountant
I know is making WAY good money and none are working at McD's!!! LOL

Husband is a corporate attorney
He makes more than I do - obviously.
