Oh bullshit, that is such a lame excuse. The same lame excuse that has been
time someone doesn't agree with offshoring.  Of course I have bills that need to be paid...EVERYONE DOES!  And, guess what sweet cheeks, I have a job and it's with a company that doesn't offshore!  Wah...wah...wah all you want, but this site does not support offshoring private health information and if you don't like it, run somewhere else because there are a lot of us here that DON'T agree with you!
Check your line count and what you are getting paid for. Don't trust what they SAY you are gettin
I would move on. I think it is so unfair not to be paid for spaces! I think we should get paid

per keystroke, but that'll never happen.  I just think that these national companies are going to keep finding ways to cheat us.  I found a job working for a hospital as an employee, paid hourly plus incentive, and they let us expand everything!  Somebody's gonna have to kill me to make me give up this job.  I will never go back to the national's again.

I feel for you though.  I know that for us MTs those good jobs are few and far between and some have little choice but to work for the nationals.  I just happened to luck into the job I have now.  I just applied at the right time.

Good luck to you whatever you decide.

You said you "joined" the lawsuit. You did NO such thing! You're a liar!
How's that for spin? Didn't want to say it before, but you're right, why be polite? There is NO LAWSUIT TO JOIN NOW.  Only 3 employees are suing and we're NOT ALLOWED to join it yet.  So banter and pound your chest all you want, you joined in your dreams, sister!!
Hey, if I'm not getting paid - I move on!! Not as dumb as you are!
You're really looking pathetic here. Notice how everyone thinks so? Move on. nm
Excuse me but federal taxes are paid as employee by employee
The ONLY difference in IC is you pay the ENTIRE amount of the SS which is the 15.25%, as an employee you only pay 7.75%.  And you can easily make up that difference in deductions.  As an employee you just have someone else manage your withholdings and as an IC you do it yourself.  I have much more usable income being an IC and not an employee and I am strict about putting aside what I need to.  But everyone always says you have to pay your own taxes, well your employer does not PAY them for you -- except 7.75% of SS, they merely withhold it for you.  As an IC you are the employer.
Well I did that and I can get it to go forward now but I can back up the dictation only go forward.
gettin' out very soon!
I too am tired of the MT abuse in this industry. The easy work is going "offshore" and we are getting stuck with the difficult stuff here in the US...not fair. They pay them less and don't pay me for my expertise...I'm gettin' out ASAP and going into a new field..yay!!
getting paid what (we think) we're worth

You may chuckle at what you're being offered, but there's a possibility that the company you're applying for a position with cannot offer more than that. If they're billing the client 13 cpl but after all of the overhead (401K plans, paid time off, software programs for MTs, employer's share of the SS tax, etc), comes out 5 cpl (which leaves 8 cpl), how are they going to keep enough for company expenses (i.e. lawyers, accountants) and still pay a decent line rate to the MTs.

So, unless you have access to the accounting books and have access to the profit and loss statements, you don't really know why MTs are not offered more than they were in the late 1980s to early 1990s.

We're usually paid by the line SM
I think MTEC is worth it, at least from what I hear.
If you're paid on production, SM
I'd very strongly recommend buying a program. Looking things up in a book takes so, so much more time, and wild card searches are the pits at very best.
If you're not paid for your time
you shouldn't account for your time.  It's none of their business if you have to go to the bathroom or get a drink of water or even load the washer or pet the cat.  They just want control which they don't want to pay for.l
Gettin' over. No matter how it's spelled.

Actually, no, it's poor you! You're the one who paid all the money
Why does that bother you? You're getting paid to type
what is dictated. What does it matter if it is "Mrs. Smith" in paragraph 1, "Ethel" in paragraph 3, or "the patient" in the recommendations? LOLOLOL

Of course not, and that's why we're paid the BIG BUCKS to transcribe.
You don't care WHAT you're paid???? Gee, that's real sad........
Depends on where you work and how you're paid
But we're not paid by bytes anymore..sm
in case you haven't heard lately, am I am being honest about it.  We're paid half of what we were paid 10 years ago, salary is going down yearly on a more or less geometric level...this is line by line, got it?
If you're paid by the hour, and not by the line, YES.
come on, you know you married ladies aren't gettin any
We're paying 9 cpl and everything transcribed plus spaces is paid for.
Describes my hubby TOO,We've been married 4 yrs & it just keeps gettin better & better. I'm SO

Why would they care? Management is paid salary and that's all they're concerned with.
We're an expendable commodity to those people. If we quit, we're easily replaced.
Yes. Three months paid training? That's just ridiculous unless you're working
in the office.  What service can afford to pay an MT for three months of training?
Just wait till you're 10+ years into it and getting paid half of that.
You're expected quota depends on whether you are paid hourly or per line. SM

I'm paid hourly and I was told the requirement was 50 or more reports per day.  I've never worked QA per line, but I'm sure their line quota is pretty high, at least 2000 or better per day, as you get credit for every line in every report you QA.

Hope this was the answer you were looking for.

Very Lame
I agree totally, all I can guess is they spent their weekend together having fun and Oprah decided she couldn't ask her any pertinent questions to put her friend on the spot, what a let down. But then I guess it really is none of our business.
For QA consulting I'm paid per hour; QA instructing (college) paid salary, QA editing paid per li
I am an IC and work for two different MTSOs as well as instruct at a business college.
that is so incredibly LAME!
but the difference is that i happen to keep a better attitude, and if it goes south, i start looking for better pastures.
This probably sounds really lame because I'm relatively new here

But it seems like anyone can send you an email if they click on your name.  I don't know if the administrators screen the outgoing emails from here or not, but it would make sense that if a person clicked on your name they could send you an email regarding Spheris.

Not lame. It's a fun show. nm
nobody's stewing - HE'S A LAME DUCK..sm

Nobody is stewing - everyone is CRACKING UP LAUGHING AT THIS Lame Duck President.  If you don't know what being a Lame Duck president means, go Google it.

Bush=Lame Duck President 2006

Sounds lame and illegal
Right. 100% QA means the QA staff needs some auditing, not just the MTs. I assume by your screen name you are an MT in Nevada. I just went to the home page of the Nevada Labor Commissioner's Office and read this:

Q. How often must I be paid?

A. Wages must be paid at least semi-monthly.

Q. What can be deducted from my wages?

A. An employer may not withhold, deduct, or divert any part of an employee's pay other than benefits and those items required by federal and state law, unless the employee specifically authorizes the deduction in writing.

Sounds superficially like your job can't withhold pay from you...but if they are not in NV they may be able to under other state's lays. Check the state's Labor site and make a BIG stink with your managers. Ask them if THEY are getting paid. Good luck.
LAME Yuck... where's a GOOD come back?
Talk to me when you have a real comeback cheeseball!!!!!   I'm way past the sticks and stones phase of life!!!!!  HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA LAMO LAMO Looohoooser!!!!
anyone see the lame Jennifer Aniston interview
Come on, where were the tears, hysteria and complete breakdown?  I was on the edge of my seat, never watch Oprah anyways, and it was sooo disappointing.  Not one mention of Bradangelina, it was all about okay lets heal now.  Rip off.
This sounds lame, but I take my dog on a walk (he has been going on many walks lately). SM
I also daydream about finding a job better suited to me, and the angrier I get the more action I take. In the process now.
Sorry, not falling for your lame attempt at a playground brawl.
Your life sounds quite gratifying (not)!

Lawsuit MQ

Have not heard a single peep about what is current on the big MQ lawsuit.  Still being pursued?  This is too big not to hear from anyone about updates .... anybody?   I followed this for a long time in November/December/Jan, then POOF!  Realize that the wheels spin slowing in legal-ville, but sure would like it if somebody could throw us some crumbs of information.

And if it has just fizzled out ... SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!!!

Lawsuit MQ
Apparently it is still on.... I just received a letter today from Frank regarding holding on to all materials regarding MQ, e-mails, contracts, etc. So guess it is just moving slow as all legal proceedings do.

I have to vent.  I asked a question a few days ago, wondering if anybody heard anything about the big MQ lawsuit.  Now we all know that this is BIG.  But, not only did I only read maybe two responses (thank you, responders) to my specific question, but I have also not heard anything from anybody ELSE on this board regarding what is up with that.

I am wondering:  a) is it under tight wraps and hush-hush for open discussion; b) do we have damage control by MQ intercepting posts of an informational nature on this;  or c) SOMETHING ELSE?

Sure would appreciate if someone threw us a crumb.  Thanks in advance from the mushroom crew!

I don't know details, but it has to do with line counts not being correct and being cheated out of $$ and not being paid correctly.
what there is a lawsuit over?
MQ lawsuit
I got in on the class action deal almost a year ago and I haven't noticed any difference in how I'm treated, but then when the bosses change so often they chew you out for not working on your scheduled day off because they didn't know, well.........
I think the reason we all got checks, was because of the lawsuit. Now, they can say that there were slight computer glitches or whatever, and that they have corrected them. I think their plan is for this to make them look like there was a small mistake and that they corrected it and make up for it.

However, this is ridiculous. In DocQmanage, they can do whatever the heck they want to - AND THEY DO!!! So, for the people who are saying that they feel sure that they are being paid for spaces, maybe they are; but, I assure you, most people are not being paid for spaces and other things as well.

This is just a pre-trial 'make MQ look good' thing. There is no way in the world that we would have received these checks if there had been no lawsuit filed.
We will be your fifth name for a lawsuit
If you want a fifth name, please email us.

This OP might just be looking for a lawsuit...NM

MQ lawsuit letter
Yes, I received the letter yesterday.  Sounded like this investigation is going to take quite some time if they have to subpoena transcriptionist's records.  I just threw it in the round file  :)
If there is an MQ merger or lawsuit, in the end, how do you think

Question on MQ lawsuit. I do not want this to be a
thread for flames or negatives, just would like a brief and simple explanation of what the actual issue(s) are for the lawsuit.
