I make very good money at home with a small MTSO

Beware of ink replacement costs. The more inexpensive the printer, the more the ink costs.

Ok, simple things now for Dell printer small print
One time before had this problem, rebooted, unhooked the printer and the printer reverted to where the print had been before, not working this time. I have no idea how to fix. I could go in and look at different things but what then? I don’t know exactly what I am looking for or at. I miss my printer. Besides getting another printer, any other easy suggestions?
Good anatomy book is "Gray's Anatomy" (Running Press), soft cover, and inexpensive

Check your USB drivers. The printer works off the printer driver. The pedal needs a joystick

driver in order to work.  You have to configure your USB port for this.

? for small in-home businesses
I am looking into adding a 1-800 number to my system, DH thinks that you pay for the minutes you use, is this correct? One of my Transcriptionist travels to my house to work, which is 45 minutes away from her's.
I have my very own very small office at home.. It's decorated in lighthouses and serene

Keeping small children at home will cost you more than paying a daycare ... see message
If you are really committed to working, then transcription can be beneficial. It is not a job where you can attend to your children at the same time you work, you either work or you attend to your children. You make choices.

I would recommend this career field - I make 50,000 a year working 6 hours a day. It is still good if you work it.
That's a good suggestion. I knew someone that had headaches and it turned out to be from small
from her gas logs. They were not installed properly (not that anybody is using gas logs this time of year, LOL).
Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
You have some really cool stuff at your site. I'm sure gonna come back here. Good, Superb, Small
Reading your content just made my day. Keep the good work. Gnome will Pair unconditionally , Industrious, Big, Green nothing comparative to Good Full Cards Roll or not , when Tournament Roll Plane Double to Fetch Mistery you should be very Good

inexpensive produce
Out here in CA, there is a Mexican supermarket, Vallarata (not sure if spelling is accurate but it is close)..Anyway, they are all over Southern CA.  The produce is so inexpensive, Im amazed.  Ten pounds of potatoes for $1.00, three pounds of tomatoes for $1.00, five pounds of onions for $1.00, on and on.  Also lots of other stuff in the store is inexpensive.  Their produce is so fresh.  If you live in the Southern CA area, check out this store.  I go in there and walk out with bags of produce and breads, etc., for about $10.00.  I even have seen two Indian doctors I used to work for at a nearby hospital, LOL, they were buying produce too.
Really inexpensive would be an HP Deskjet.
You can buy online or get one on sale at Staples or OfficeMax for under $90.
I use As-U-Type, and I love it. Very inexpensive, too...nm

One of my docs just went digital and it was very inexpensive.
He bought an Olympus WS110 digital recorder that just plugs into his computer to download the dictation. You can use digital signatures, send everything back and forth using e-mail without having to have an FTP site. You can also password protect documents in Word. His digital handheld was less than $75.00 and the sound quality is awesome. I use GearPlayer software with a computer foot pedal to play his files, type them in Word. I hope this helps.
Good one, Home MT....

I had been using www.healthgrades.com but you have to go through a long convoluted trail of clicking through specialties and cities and agreeing to disclaimers.

I like your site.  It is straight forward and takes partial names.

Thank You!!!

Okay, these sound weird, but inexpensive and delicious!!!
I rememember having these as a kid when money was tight and I make them still for my family once in a while because we love them! All you need: Regular white bread. Ketchup (yes I know!). Thin sliced Swiss cheese. Garlic powder, oregano. To make: Very Lightly toast bread. Spread with thin layer of ketchup. Sprinkle on garlic powder and oregano (to your taste). Place 1-2 slices of Swiss cheese on top. Bake in toaster oven/or regular oven on low heat just until cheese begins to melt. They are really delicious and kids love them and have fun making them!
NOTE: Regarding the sticky above about inexpensive banner ads

I thought that some of you who sell art, crafts, or other items like candles, Avon, scrapbooking, etc. might like to jump on this opportunity.  I had thought it would be an affordable opportunity for you to make some extra money with Christmas coming up.  However, so far no one appears to be interested.  Therefore, if I don't have at least 10 people interested by Nov. 20, I will scrap the idea.

Good idea, esp. if in your home...nm

Good ideas - but most want to be at home! sm
I work more being at home, albeit not in 8 straight hours, but I get more work done at home with more lph working in 2-hour shifts throughout the day. Working in the office would not cut it for me. I have been working at home for 16 years now, no way will I go back to an office. So, if you are looking for the seasoned MTs to work in the office with the newbies - good luck with that!

I think you have great ideas and it will work, you just might have to modify a few things along the way.

Best of luck to you!
Good to know. Thanks. I hope he has someone at home sm
who can do that for him. He'll just have to keep growing! Thank goodness no one has thought 20" is too small!
Teenagers good to be home with - I did the same thing
Once had an argument with my boss working in the office, because my hours were supposed to be 7-3, or 3:30.  I was on salary (can you believe that) at the time, and she expected me to stay till 5 or 6.  She herself used to practically live there.  I told her no, I wanted to be home with my kids, and she said they weren't babies anymore and didn't need me.  Well, I left everyday after that by 3:30, and believe U me, it is a very good idea to be able to monitor your teenagers, and I would do it again (God forbid I ever  had teenagers again)  They are all grown now.
Does anybody have a GOOD home remedy for fleas...
I have two "sons" (shih tzus), one has long hair and the other has short hair.  My short haired baby has fleas that I cannot get rid of.  I have tried all kinds of over the counter medicine and I have done everything including cleaning this house top to bottom and bathing him 3 times a week.  One would think the long haired one would have them worse, but he doesn't.  He enjoys being groomed though and brushed daily whereas my short haired guy thinks the brush is a toy.  I used the Zodiac line last year and had absolutely no problems at all but it is just not working this year.  Any good ideas would be appreciated!!!!
Good thing you work at home
Hopefully one day when you need to vent, you at not treated the way you treat others but what goes around does come around.
Another good idea is Home Depot
My friend used to work in the travel industry, which has also gone down the tubes pretty much as a result of technology.

She's a very talented Martha Stewart type of person and always has a yard that's the envy of the neighborhood. She's seriously thinking of applying at Home Depot's home and garden department to give people advice about their yards. She said it pays well and the same with the benefits.

If you're talented in any type of home decorating, home repair, or horticulture I'd say apply at the Home Depot or maybe Lowe's!
Good for you. I love my local at home job.

can't imagine doing good work at home
(no buddy-help) without MT training, and getting good QA scores. There's too bloody-much detail anymore, ie, all the BOS rules, on top of account specifics, terminology, accents, etc... I have seen a couple people pick up the terminology and do well with only on-the-job training in the hospital setting, but that seems rather rare.
I ordered a clamp-on one, inexpensive, from Miles Kimball or one of those places.

Need a good recipe for home brew flea dip
I have a shih-tsu and 120 pound lab/blue tick hound. Needless to say, Savannah would cost me an arm and a leg with conventional dips. If anyone knows of a good home brew I would surely appreciate it.
small mentality usually means small pocketbook
Still make more than you and I but that is deserved. They've put the effort forward and educated themselves.

Maybe that's a good thing - it's a reason for the Indian docs to GO HOME
c
It is an okay deal - TR 11 font is small. Not as good a deal as Courier.
Personally, I would have to think really hard and compare reports and line counts, like the other poster below suggested, before I would jump right into it. It is probably 75-80 characters to a line +/- the single character lines you get for initials, and 2 word lines you get with op reports such as Surgeon:
IV Fluids:
Anesthesia:
etc.

It probably is comparable to 9 cpl with a larger font.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Good Luck!
What a perfect analogy! Shoot, I switched offices in my own home and it took a good 2 wks

I'm going to type an acct at home for local group. What is a good word expander for

things to know on doing tapes from an office?  Is it best just to give them a disk and let them print it out at the office like they want to?

Anybody doing an acct like this?  Thanks.

Lots of inexpensive decorations at Big Lots. Had a party last year.

Yes, I have an ink jet printer

I just bought an HP Photosmart 2610v that is an all in one printer, fax, scanner, copier. I really don't want to have to go out and buy another new printer. :( I really appreciate you letting me know that a laser printer eliminated this problem. Which one do you use that eliminated this problem??? I might have to resort to this.

Also, I am trying to get them to consider going digital so I would not need to print anything for them (unless they were willing to have me just deliver transcription one day a week - I might consider that). However, I don't know how we can resolve the issue IF I do get to go digital and I won't be doing the printing and there creates another problem unless they have a printer that wouldn't do the same thing as mine.

Thanks again!

Printer

Laser will work better because  the laser uses a different mechanism -- do not understand all of it but it was explained to me.  Some of it is because something has already been printed on the paper when it runs through a ink jet.  But my laser printer, have a large one that cost a lot, but it works so well it has paid for itself in the past 4 - 5 years.  But there are some inexpensive ones out there also.  But what you need to do is when you try a printer out  --- take samples of what you will be printing on to the store and try it.  Might waste some paper but it is worth it.   I use the sticky  paper and had a lot of problems because of the weight of the paper and that is why I had to go with laser.  Also do 40 to 50 envelopes a day and needed that.

Be prepared that if you go digital and they will print off -- they will probably want to drop your cpl since they are doing part of the work.   That happened to me.   So see what the trade off is.

Printer/Me
My husband works in a print shop. I definitely make more money.
printer
Can anybody recommend a good reliable printer?  I have had 2 HP printers, one was really cheap (so I did not expect it to last).  This last one I spent a pretty penny on, but is no better than the cheap one.  TIA.
HP printer
I'm not sure if you are having the same problem I was having, but... try this and see if it helps the next time that happens. Unplug both cords in the back of printer (not the phone jack, the other two). Reboot your computer.. after computer reboots, plug everything back in again. I was told to do this by HP rep a couple years ago, and it works for me.
HP Printer
I have a C5200 and love it. Have had no problem with any kind of paper I use. The only thing that seems to be necessary to use is HP Ink. I have had problems with other brand cartridges. I would return it if I were you.
Union diesil mechanic - good pay, great benefits. We swap year to year on who brings home more sm
money.....but I am an IC and he has all the benefits...health insurance/dental that the company pays for, pension plan, 401k, etc.  Factor all of that in and he makes way more than I do.
I had that problem with a printer (sm)
what type of printer is it? inkjet? I bought myself a laser printer and it solved the problem.
What kind of printer do you use? sm
I used to use an Epson which was pretty good on ink and I would get cartridges from e-bay. However, now I use a Lexmark and that eats ink like crazy. I second e-bay as a great source.
inkjet printer ink............
I think it's hp dot com.......
printer cartridges
I've actually ordered some off of ebay for 1/3 less!  I'll never buy a cartridge from a store again.  I thought I'd just take the chance and give it a try since they were so much cheaper.  They work like a charm.
If only one printer is listed...
How can you change your default? Can you actually create a default that does not exist?
Okay...I don't have that there. Mine is the printer
icon. Maybe I accidentally hit F11 then.

I appreciate everyone's help! :)

Printer not printing

My hp LaserJet 1300 will not print what I send to it, however, it does print a page with a single line at the top - ?%-57755}euom%oog/ and so on.

I turned off the printer for 1/2 hour and tried again and it is still doing this.

Any ideas?

Thank you. Barb
