What state, close to what cities. I'm packing my bags, LOL.

In Reply to: need some HONEST feedback regarding onsite and relocation - - -

I do think people would do this.  I have a friend who moved south for the same reasons, great job offered, moving expenses paid, and she visited the area and LOVED it (I did too).  This sounds exactly like the kind of place my DH would love to live.

Work for a company in a state that has no state income tax
I think there are 3 or 4 out there (Florida, Texas, and a few others.)  Then you really avoid the tax situation.
Name a state and put every company in that state under suspicion.

Tell what the first letter of the company is and every company with that initial will be suspect.  I would imagine that everyone who works for that company has received an inquiry from department of labor, so they would all be aware of it.

Why do we persist in setting up companies to be torn down when there is no reason for it.  If a company is suspect, then give the name of the company, don't give big hints that cover at least 5 companies, 4 of which may be the best companies to work for, but fall into the category of an alphabetical letter, etc.

Contact your local BBB in your state and in their state if different from yours.

Not mandatory, as you state it depends on your state - sm
or county. Where I am I do not need it; though if I was cutting grass or landscaping I would where I live, makes no sense to me as I am providing a service, but very happy I don't have to have one. We pay personal property tax here and I would have to list all my business related equipment and pay taxes on it every year I was in business. So until I am told otherwise by my county, I will not be getting a business license.

Some of us CHOOSE to go through life as a REALISTS!

Things are different from state to state, but I think
you probably could, if you are actually "laid off."  You would have to get a letter from your surgeon regarding your temporary disability status and take to the unemployment office and to Medicaid....but you know how Medicaid works, 1.5 pennies over the income limit, you don't get it.  But, as I stated, laws differ from state to state, so you would have to inquire or go on their websites and see what they will approve and what they will not.
If not in your state, try filing in THEIR state. Then they

your not looking close enough,
stealing from you!!!
You really should close some of them. sm

Every card you have is more potential debt. This may not matter to you now, but when you try to get a car loan, or a mortgage, or even a regular bank loan, it will matter then. There's absolutely no reason to keep multiple card accounts open, especially if you have absolutely no intention of using them. Keep 1 or 2 open, use them regularly, and pay them off promptly. That is the best way to use them to your advantage.

I don't think so...but close enough...sm
the ergonomics involved with a laptop---mmm... you would have to be real careful if you were actually putting in quite a few hours a day. The keyboards are SO small! And remember ergonomics includes angle of arms, a proper chair height, etc. I don't think you can just plop it anywhere on the deck and do that for 6 hours a day...
Too Close
I'm really disappointed that Elliott left. Let's hope that Elliott fans turn to Taylor. I couldn't believe how close the numbers were. The turn outs that they all had when they went home were incredible, especially Elliott's. I think he'll go far.
Since you are so close
to your due date, I would think long and hard about it. That leave with pay would be very nice.

I don't think it would be very difficult for you to find other at-home positions at a better time, and maybe even the place offering you one now would be have something a little later. (They might not act like it now when trying to get you to commit to something though.)
I'm close by
I think you and I have passed a couple of private e-mails today? I'm about 30 miles from you. Yes, it is outrageous. I have lived here my whole life, and since so many retirees are coming in, my town is impossible to buy in! Well, for my income, that is. I agree, even now without working in MT I would never make it. I left an office job making $300 every two weeks 8 years ago to do this...Best move of my life. As for the future, who knows, but for now, I am really thankful for this profession.
I have never gotten close to that - sm
But the majority of my work is specialty clinic notes and creating a lot of templates and normals for these docs is almost impossible because each patient is so different. I can make almost twice as much in the same amount of time doing OPs and DSs than clinic notes! But I do make way over minimum wage.
How close to 18 is she?
Was your doctor talking to her about the wisdom of getting vaccinated when she reaches 18? She will be able to make her own healthcare decisions then--she doesn't have to wait until 21. In some states, decisions about Gardasil might be available to minors at an earlier age. He undoubtedly feels an obligation to inform her of her rights at that point--it would be wrong of him not to.

Fearing infertility from back x-rays is unfortunate. Do you really believe doctors are exposing all those people having x-rays to the horrible fate of infertility? That wouldn't make sense. If you can't manage to look up whether back x-rays cause infertility, how are you managing to find out about all these alleged deaths and illnesses from Gardasil? Are you reading reputable medical information or stuff cranked out by uninformed, anti-medical crazies?

The fact that YOU had cervical cancer is no reason to expect that your daughter should accept having it, too. This is a preventable and still deadly disease.

Also, if you had to leave the room for "the rest of the exam," it sounds like a gynecologic exam. Was that because your daughter is sexually active? If so, that clearly explains why your doctor was informing her of her choices. She needs to be vaccinated BEFORE she is exposed to the virus.
Each state has different laws. Where I live, if I have clients in the same state I live in, yes I ne
have clients from another state, no I do not need a license. Every state is different. I checked with my attorney and the State Business offices.
I moved very close to but not on ...
Makemoney Avenue.

Considering the taxes I pay, I think I should have bought the one on that street.
If you live close enough (sm)
and can afford to quit your job, go ahead. Once you are signed, you are expected to show up for auditions when they tell you to. You might go to 100s of them before being chosen for one and they usually last all day.
Erie. RU close?
.
They are extremely close.
From what I know of both companies, oddly enough it is MQ catching up to changing its operations to par with Spheris with the new Rewards Plan.

However, while Spheris has already had their compensation/benefits package settled for a while, they seem to be aggressively pursuing purchasing other companies and increasing their offshore entities.

MQ seems to be focusing on it's US clientele.

MQ has ASR and if Spheris has it, I haven't heard of it yet. I would imagine ASR came in with a recent purchase if Spheris has much in the way of it right now.

You are welcome.
Well, I actually pay close to $700 a month..
for health insurance, so wouldn't affect me much. The company will still be based in Houston though. They just have another location in Florida. The gas sounds promising. I was wondering how much for food. How much for bread, milk, etc. Just to get an idea. So far, it just sounds like the homes are what is real expensive there. The gas is comparible to Houston. How much do you pay for home insurance per year? In Texas, the ratio is usually something in the range of you buy a house for $140,000, your monthly bill would be around 1,400 for everything, taxes included. The homes here going for around $130,000-$160,000 look comparable to the homes ranging $260,000-$300,000 there. That is a huge difference.
Someone close to me, elderly, just
died of pneumonia after a fall.  I can't tell you how many reports I have been typing lately of elderly people in the hospital with pneumonia after falls and really feel for these people.  Suddenly, these reports all hit home.
Not even close to the same scenario.
Oh, please... that's like saying you should put your dog into a little cage that's only 4x his size, and give him a little exercise wheel and that he'll be fine... after all, that's what people with hamsters do, right? Apples and oranges. Again, talk to your vet.
Not quite to that point but close...
I know not to internalize it which saves me.

I feel it's a personality flaw very similar to Dr. Jekeyll and Mr. Hyde. ha!

Thanks for posting the article.
Scary how close it was!
I've been having to tape Tue/Wed shows because I am working and so I haven't been able to vote either.  Next week I will just have to make an exception and watch/vote.  Have to get Taylor through-whoo-hoo.  He's my soul man!
Close but no cigar
Not in New Hampshire ...
I don't make 50K or close sm
I think it is because I just can't sit that tight. I find my body can't take more than 6 or 7 hours at the desk most days. I am chronically ill and that doesn't help. Every fall and every spring I find myself in bed for 12 hours of every 24 trying to find a comfortable position and sleep off my pain.

That, and I know for a fact I don't pick the best work situations. I quit a wonderful job this past summer because they changed platforms and I was bored anyway. I took a job with such heavy ESLs I am struggling a lot and the work flow isn't anywhere near consistent.

This board probably doesn't help, but I am a recent poster so this is not really a contributing factor.
not this year but close
I am with a company (finally) that pays fair meaning it pays for everything at a decent rate. I have doubled what i have made at other companies and will have no issues making at least 60k next year.
I'm not even CLOSE to being an expert but..Have you tried this..

Going into the printer properties and checking your printing preferences. If your not sure how to do this....Go to your Control Panel, open up Printers...find the printer, right click on it, hit properties, and under the General tab, there should be an area at the bottom titled "Printer/printing Preferences (something like that)..hit that and check out all your settings. I'd play around in that areas with your settings to see if somehow something is in there wacko.. Just a thought. I hope it works..

Almost no templates and close to 40 hrs sm
it is all OP notes. Actual my-butt-is-in-the-chair-typing time is 35 hours or so. Shift time is different. I had one day this week when I could not sit for more than 5 hours of my shift total. I had an 8-hour shift and quit after 7 because I could not sit any longer. Lines were 1350 for that day. I remember it as a distracted day, not one where I worked for it.

I often wonder if I were more motivated, if my body didn't hurt when I sit for longer than 1-1/2 at a time, if I could churn out more lines. There is no reason I can't do 30,000 every 2 weeks, except that I can't sit still.
Wish I was close enough to work with her.
Ever since first visiting this board I always read Patti's posts. She has found a good niche for herself and always gives good advice.
Not many MTs are making even close to

Well, at least it will consistently come close!
If an MT is so concerned that she is being cheated out of money, she needs to be proactive and figure out how to verify line counts. I either use Word or an old version of MPCount that I downloaded off the Internet for free. It was my experience that nearly every company I ever worked for was right on or even paid a bit more than my line counts indicated. (Except for ONE company and we all know which one that is!)
Well, have come pretty close to
doubling my lines per day but triple my lines, just cannot do that. My system is really good so I am able to average over $20.00 per hour and that is ok with me. I really think if the systems learned better so many would not be as ticked off as they are now. I could make more but I am old and just tired of working overtime, anytime, days, nights and in between. I would love to cut back to 3 days a week myself but I think my company considers 4 days per/wk part time.
Thanks! I am close to Santa Barbara and will go there.
Will keep you posted. It will take six months to save up the money. The clinic in Santa Barbara is well known.
If this is close by to me (VA) I would love to apply - sm

Please drop me an email.  As for relocating that would not be possible for me at this time. But if can be at-home job why is it necessary to relocate?  I could see coming in for training for a week or so, but why relocate if it can be accomplished remotely?

Sounds pretty close to
thinly veiled age discrimination to me!
Sure wish you lived close to me. I'd take the dog in a flash (sm)

We lost our lab/retriever 2 years ago from root nerve tumor and still miss him. I think it's time we get another one so we can stop mourning our babe.

Please DON"T take him to an SPCA or any shelter like them. I, and many others, have had horrific experiences with our local shelters. It breaks my heart to see all those animals without homes and wish I could bring them all home but, unfortunately, cannot...and I will not adopt a dog from their shelters, either, due to their "higher than thou" attitude. Take it from one who knows, they are only interested in the money they receive from tugging at people's heartstrings, not the animals themselves. They came on our property when we weren't home and stole two irish setters that were left from a litter that were promised to someone with a very good reputation, I might add, and then told that person they had to euthanize the pups because they were sick. They were NOT sick. They had all their shots and wormed, etc., and definitely not sick. The worse part was that they had my 14-yo son SIGN a paper stating they had PERMISSION to take them. I really could have caused trouble for them but didn't have the money to pursue it (lawyer fees).   Two weeks later, their picture was in the newspaper up for adoption!

These worker should work twice as hard trying to find homes for them instead of stealing other peoples dogs and then asking for money every other week.

We have always adopted from people who are moving out of area, are elderly and can no longer take care of their pets, from friends, etc.

Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now. but that's my 2 cents.

No, it looks like multilevel which is a close runner to it. nm

I live close to Birmingham
I have never heard of this company would be eager to find out some information myself!
