You are fine unless you are working for an
MTSO or facility that says use AAMT/BOS, etc.
Keyboard is fine, mouse batteries goes pretty quick though and if my desk
the signal from the mouse to the transmitter/receiver thing gets messed up, so then move all the junk and all is well. Rarely change the keyboard batteries, mouse every 3 weeks probably. PRO: Like not having wires though, CON: Put in a good supply of batteries.
it's working fine for me, no problems at all.

Mine is working just fine.

Fine working at home if you can
afford it but no money means no home, right? The MTSOs pay less because what they know and see. Read above where they read these postings. No work, work low, waiting on work. I would never fuss about lack of work and/or money if I did nothing to change my situation.
Nine cents is fine if you're working for someone else. sm
But, not so good if the account is your own. :)
There is a $150 fine if caught working at home-sm
w/o business license. From 2002-2005 the fee was $50. Then city changed it and now have to take copy of tax return to City Hall and the fee is based on previous year's income. Woman in my Chamber of Commerce group was turned into the city by a rival and was fined.
My MJ is fine for just regular use, but don't think it would be good for working with... nm

Mine is working fine and turning purple...

It's working fine for me. Email to support@mtstars.com with the exact problem

If you like to type (fast), are fascinated by medical field, enjoy working solo, you will be fine.
You may have to go through three jobs (over several years) to get to the big money. Best to chose a specialty which you find intriguing and tends to pay well (surgery, radiology perhaps).
I use a MSFT Natural keyboard at home and the laptop keyboard on the road. nm

favorite keyboard over the holidays is called "no keyboard"

If you use a standard keyboard you can buy an old IBM model M keyboard on ebay or clickykeyboards.co

That key printing never wear down because the letters are part of the key itself.  They just don't make them that way anymore because it is too expensive to make.  Some of the mechanical keyboards like Cherry have what they double shot key imprinting and the letters are part of the key itself and don't wear off. That IBM keyboard is very noisy from the type of keyswitch it has so you may not like that.  Logitech and Belkin make some membrane switch keyboards that are supposed to have longer lasting key imprints.  I have a logitech that has the longer lasting key imprints and it is pretty good.  You have to look on the specs to find out if has the longer lasting key printing.

I have experimented so much with keyboards and have done a lot of research.  Way too much info.

I use a laptop with a full-size keyboard (no separate keyboard)
I'm using a lap desk but previously was using a pillow with a book on it under the laptop. No additional keyboard though, I bought one with a full-sized board with regular size keys (an HP) which I LOVE and it took no time at all to get used to it. I also love that when the weather improves, I can take my computer outside and get some fresh air! What a great job... :)
Keyboard and mouse. Is there such a thing as a keyboard that has a mouse on the actual keyboard?
nm

Has anyone used the Smartboard keyboard? Everyone tell what keyboard they have and rate it nm

Kinesis Keyboard and keyboard tray

Okay, any lefties use this keyboard? How long did it take to get used to? I use my left thumb for the space bar and I notice on a diagram of the keys that I would always be hitting the backspace key.

I'm really interested in getting a better keyboard. I destroyed my left hand and wrist the other week when I fell because I'm becoming a real klutz.

I bought the Soft Flex gloves, but they only help a little bit. My production is down because of it and it's driving me crazy. I can only type an hour without stopping and then have to rest the hand for some time.

I did buy a Microsoft 2000 keyboard but have yet to recieve it. Is this a good one?

Do you use a keyboard tray with it or just set it on the desk? Do you think a kayboard tray would be the least expensive item right now that would help with a straight keyboard?

Any info you can provide to help me in making any decision would be greatfully appreciated.

'Scuse me for being old school, but I've only ever used a straight keyboard.

Does anyone know of a keyboard that has the backspace key in the center of the keyboard? NM

Split keyboard mounted on chair arms versus split keyboard on desk

For longtime comfort which is best - split keyboard mounted on chair arms or split keyboard to be used on the desk?

Also, why the preference over split keyboards that come totally apart versus split keyboards that are permanently connected at the top?

I want to revamp my office and there are so many different options.

Gold touch makes a keyboard without number pad. Also the evoluent keyboard has the number pad on th
It is a very small keyboard and has laptop keys which are very quiet and light to the touch.  Almost no noise.

Ditto....granted I am not working much these days, but am currently trying out a new way of working
when I do work which seems to be helping.  I am timing myself and keeping a log of how long it takes to to type however many minutes.  I am averaging anywhere from 13-18 minutes of dictation an hour now doing this.  Granted the time fluctuates between who I am typing, and if I have to look up names, addresses, etc., just depends on the division I am doing at the time.  But work that used to take me 3 hours to do is now taking me under 2 hours, I am also trying to put in more macros as I go along, which slows me down initially but pays off in the long run of course.  I was working "all the time" before but took forever to get done since I was not applying myself. This new "attitude" has helped me a lot.  My goal, in the Fall, is to do 90 minutes a day consistently at 6 hours, and then maybe get up to 120 minutes a day at 8 hours, still while having at least half of the day free (do 60 minutes at night, and the other 60 by Noon).  Thereby doing 1200-1400 lines a day.  I have never really buckled down and done more than 8000 lines per pay period, so it will be a nice change.  Maybe you can do something like that and have a specific knock off time as was suggested below.
Working holidays? Out shopping in stores where someone IS working

that holiday you refuse to work?  Grocery stores, food joints & seems any store is open on holidays and you expect them to be fully staffed, so why shouldn't we?

Yes, I took off for the first time on Christmas day, in 18 years and it was great, but I worked Christmas eve and this whole past weekend.

Someone has to do it!

working IN A HOSPITAL is different than working at home.
Someone can steal you identity from the internet if they want to. Why would you go to the time and trouble to jeopardize a job that requires some level of skill to steal someone's identity or medical records? You could get a job as a retail clerk and get info easier than going through the testing required to become an MT.
Somehow working at home translates into not really working
My in-laws are the worst. Whenever they plan something last minute and my husband says that I had to work, they say, "but she works at home!". When I one time mentioned I had a "schedule" and basically punch a clock and work full time, I don't think they believed me. They will sometimes call mid-day during the week if they are in the area to see if I want to go for lunch, etc! The best is, my husband doesn't make all that much money, so where is it coming from, the money fairy? I am ready to strangle someone! So I know how you feel and I'm sorry it upset you. You are not alone.
Looks fine to me.
ii
That's fine, but...
statistically children do better and live in less poverty within a married committed relationship.  It's no guarantee, but statistically chances are better if you create the proper nest beforehand.  Kids deserve that stability, not a scary violent father who isn't committed to their mother.  I'm not condemning you, just pointing out that there are better choices to be made.  And I do know that my 17yo may up and do something stupid herself.  Therefore by the grace of God go I.
I just tried, got in just fine. nm

Just fine, thanks
Always has been, always will be.
Which is fine, but they need to PAY someone for that. (nt)

I think it would be fine to say...

send monday to charity in lieu of gifts. I wouldn't give money to a couple who specifically requested it though. A wedding is a celebration of marriage, not getting money or gifts.

Thanks, I'm fine just...
my thumb itches this morning but that's it.  The brown recluse is not the only spider to have violin shape. That's why we went to the ER.  On my husbands preliminary look at him at home he saw the violin.  But under a microscope, he saw that he did not have the eyes.
No I would not put up with it- now and then of course is fine - sm
I encourage my DH to go out and do things, though he gets upset when I do sort of similar things; mine involve driving 200 miles. I take the kids with me and I basically hang at friends houses for a day or two. He tends to get freaked when we are not home. Me, I'd be thrilled to have 2 days of freedom, but my DH is a freak to say the least. But if he were to go out a couple times (2) a month to a bar setting with friends I would not have an issue with it. But 3 x a week is a bit much, also expensive, and possibly dangerous if he is drinking and driving. If it bothered your friend you'd know, but since she has not brought it up she must be okay with it. Who knows maybe he is a real jerk at home and she is happy he is out 3 night a week, who knows. I would not worry about it, as you said it is not your business.
looks fine to me
"aggressively" treatment would be incorrect !
No. It's been fine for me.

Thanks! I'm fine...
Both legs were swollen. I just couldn't tell the left one was. It went up into my groin too. Apparently, I have pedal edema, a UTI and was a little dehydrated. So, no clot or anything. My legs were feeling tight and weird from the swelling I guess.

I guess better safe than sorry, huh?!
MQ is just fine now. sm
There is no need for panic.  We are also getting paid downtime for the time the system was down. People aren't leaving Medquist because of this, at least I'm not.  In my opinion, Medquist is still the best!
I have before and it was fine (nm)

It's fine!
There is no problem transcribing lectures that they have recorded or in typing or transcribing reports. As long as you are not actually providing the intellectual content, it's fine. In the days before computers, typing papers was an excellent way to earn money.

A lot of schools have writing clinics that help students with reports and assignments. They advise on writing style, grammar, etc. If they can do it, so can you. :)

You will be fine
There is really no "certification" that people look for in our industry. There is a CMT or RMT certification that you can pay lots of money to a group called AHDI (Association of Healthcare Documention, Inc - who USED to be calle the AMERICAN Association of Medical Transcription (AAMT). This group was originally formed to further the cause of MTs in America, but it has deteriorated to something unrecognizable and corrupt. Notice that they took any mention of the word "American" out of their name and also "MT" All they want is your money and will do nothing for you. You DO NOT need either an RMT nor a CMT to work in this business.

You have experience under your belt now, which is the main thing companies look for, not the credentials. I don't think you will have trouble finding another position. If you can't get hired on with any of the MTSOs right now, try getting your own accounts. I did this for years and it was very lucrative. Not much rest, but I had lots of work. That will give you more experience under your belt.

You are not foolish, my dear, you just fell for an old "scam" and I know exactly who you mean. They are the ones who should be ashamed - not you.

Good luck to you. :-)
you'll do fine
but yes, with anything there is the learning curve where your paycheck generally suffers a little.  I love it tho.  Hope i never have to learn another system.  The expander part is quick and easy.  I would not recommend trying to learn their preset shortcuts, just make your own.   i developed my own quicker than remembering theirs; it is quick and easy to look them up if you foget 'em too.
aside from my above post, MQ Mon is fine!
no one bothers me, I always have work, albeit I am on DQS, as mentioned before, but other than that, I don't have any problems w/the office.  Been with them for over four years!  Good Luck!
It sounds fine to me.
The only thing I would do is get rid of the "she" in the "and she is out" part of it.
I use wireless and it is fine. (sm)
I don't think it is quite as fast as DSL, but it is definitely adequate.

As the poster below said, you have to be clear of trees to get a signal.
got the no-line...they were fine
then got the Acuvue bifocal contacts and I LOVE wearing them!
That would be all fine and dandy...
however, these days companies want that kind of expertise all for the honor of earning about 6 cents a line.  That's the problem with this job... Whether you are fresh out of school or your butt looks like the seat of your computer share from sitting in it for the last 20 years, you get paid the same.  Not always, but increasingly so.
Another fine cherrypicking day.
Man, would I love to go on all day about this company and the cherrypickers here.  This is totally 100% unbelievable that they let people do this every single day.
fine line...
because he is your brother-in-law. then again, business is business. i probably wont go lower than 10 cpl. hope thats not being greedy either :)
"orthopedics" is just fine. nm
