If you live in a warmer climate....

check out those storage houses they sell outside at Home Depot.  I heard an MT a few years ago describe how she bought one of those and put it in her backyard, had somebody run electrical and cable out there, dry walled in the interior walls, and made herself an office.  Heck, even if you live in a cooler climate (but not really cold and snowy) you could just run a space heater.  This of course is assuming you live in a house with space to do such a thing.  But just in case, it's a thought.

And with this awful bitter cold weather
going ballistic on the drivers when they do return!
Even here in NY it's beautiful today, no cold weather this week.

For arthritis/cold weather, I use cheap, thin, one-size-fits-all
grocery-store gloves, and just cut the fingertips out. Warm & comfy. And cheap.
I used to live in MN now I live in MS and they were both cold last night!
Will take MS cold over MN cold any day, and I don't miss the snow. I miss the Mall of America, though!
    Anybody live where it's cold?
Like below 60 today.  Wish I were there.
I am jealous. Where do u live? I WISH it were cold

definite dearth of good TV on Sunday. Hafta watch weather, sports

My hands get cold, and typing with cold muscles is like (sm)
running or other exercise when not warmed up. I wear thin, warm gloves with the fingertips cut out to keep my hands & knuckles warm. For muscle pains in the shoulders, neck, biceps, etc, try Flexall cream - I find it to be VERY effective. Also try slight changes in chair height, keyboard height and angle, and monitor height. I found if I enlarge the print on my screen, it keeps me from hunching forward to try to read it. (CTL + scroll up or down on mouse wheel to make print bigger or smaller. It will not affect the size of the finished product.) Frequent "mini-breaks" to do other chores: filing etc. if in an office, quick household task if working at home, also helps relieve repetitive stress. A few months ago I thought my typing days were numbered due to various pains & arthritis; now I can work pain-free for up to 11 hours in a day. Good luck! :)
    Wish mine were outdoors.
However, I often cook stews and soups on it during the day as an extra benefit.  At different times in my life have had a big old wood cook stove.  They are fussy but as a cook I found them to have the best heat for both stove top cooking and baking.  Unfortunately don't have a place for one in my current house.
    Laptop/outdoors ?...sm

Does anybody use their laptop outdoors on nice days.  Our weather here is starting to finally get nice and warm.  I would love to work outdoors once in a while but I am wondering if being outdoors the sun could affect a laptop pc or cause any problems.  It would be so nice to get out on those nice days and still be able to work.

My colicky baby loved outdoors. sm
A bottle of whiskey and a massage ... for MOM! LOL

Swing also worked for my baby, so I'd put his swing outside every evening when the crying started. There is also gripe water (check Google, not sure where you get it-a doc I worked for got it for me), which actually worked for my baby. Sometimes, that is. It seemed like one day, one thing would work, but the next day, I'd have to try something else. Hyland's makes colic tablets, too - all natural, dissolve in baby's mouth (drug store or health store). Those worked sometimes. Some of my friends swore by running the vacuum, said the sound was soothing, but that never worked for me.

Good news is they really do grow out of it. Took about 2 mos. for mine. My SIL's baby did have pretty severe reflux and they had to get treatment w/ pediatrician, but most babies get over it on their own. Good luck. I sure remember those days and don't envy you!
I use laptop outdoors. Only problem is trying to stay awake,

$2K is good for you? Do you live sm

in a house that you own outright or what?  My mortgage is $1400.  Being grateful to work from home to the exclusion of anything else, including a living wage, is what has driven this field right into the toilet.

**Back in the day** (that would be 1999, 2000) the going rate was 12 cpl.  At home.  How do you reconcile the fact that the rate has gone down as you build years of experience?

You must live in Calif - finding a good old doctor is nearly impossible here.
It amazes me. But, it is true. The stories I have heard are heartbreaking.

I blame it on the cap they placed on malpractice suits. Doctors here are complacent. In my town, we go to Stanford or UCLA for serious illnesses. It is well worth the drive.
Gotta find a good place to live. My kids play outside.

They know to come in when the street lights flicker on.

Strength in numbers though. I'd never let one of my kids go to the playground on the next street over by themselves, but my parents never let any of us wander off too far by ourselves either. It was always with a bunch of other kids.

    weather
I live in the Ohio Valley, it's like this all the time here. A few days ago, no coats, this morning 1 inch of snow. I gave up ever switching out winter/summer clothing a long time ago.

what state are you in? I am in Texas and it was 81 here yesterday and this morning at 10 it was 28. No wonder we are all sick! But I love this cold!
    weather
I hate it too! By the way, are you in texas?
    weather

Really nice here, a little on the warm side for me - 85 degrees in Dallas!

    Texas weather
We haven't hit 100 yet, but i'm sure it is in the near future. Thank God I'm not in arizona!
Same here. The weather outside is gorgeous, though.

I have almost everything caught up around the house now.  Gee, should I go clean something else or read a book outside?

    tired of this weather
i never thought i would say it, but it is just too hot for me.  It has been high 90s here all summer and humid.  It usually isnt this hot here.  I want fall to come with some high 50 to low 60 degree weather.  CANT WAIT.  I need cozy days and comfort foods!
During warm weather I do (sm)
but when it's cold my fingers shrink and my rings start spinning around! That's when they come off.
Thanks...and believe me...I do remember that about the weather...
My uncle says that all the time...LOL. Nice to hear a little bit of 'home'!
Thanks Patti! How's the weather in OR? I sure

    Oregon weather
It is cold in the morning but dry and sunny throughout the day up to about 50.  Beautiful on the river.  Know that our wet weather is coming soon though.  Gotta run and make deliveries.
At least you have beautiful weather most of the year. nm

How's the weather in Bangalore? usually stops them in their tracks

When a US rep of SBC called to try to get me to switch my cable service for their high-speed interent, I told them no, I don't willingly deal with companies who have all their customer service "help" offshore.  She pointed out that I probaby pay more to use my local cable service.  Yes, I agreed, I do pay more...and I talk to people in my community and can even go talk to them in person if I want to.

But asking how the weather is in Bangalore is a nice way to break the ice with someone at a call center in India. Weather reports are definitely not part of their scripts.

we have had beatiful weather here in Santa Clara
funny how the weather varies depending on what part of the Bay you live in :)
why no, i don't live in snobville. did you think you knew me? i live in heritage hills a suburb
it takes a little longer to get to work and shopping but thank god i have some privacy and am away from the congestion.  lovely trees and lakes all around.  maybe about 20 minutes to a large shopping mall.  but no, i don't even know where snobville is.
You know what they say, if you don't like the weather in Ky - wait 5 minutes, it'll change - i

nice to see rain and maybe they will release our water restrictions, of course, now I don't need to water my lawn but maybe washing my car would be nice.

How's the weather where U are? Pouring cats & dogs in San Francisco....

..... guess it's time to think about building an ARK!

We have such gorgeous weather here today, Easter Sunday!

    What about where you are?!

Ok, I invite you to hop on a bicycle for 15 mile ride in below freezing weather, snow, ice, etc.

why yes the quality of air where i live is quite different than where the city people live.
Lots of pollution.  That's why everyone is moving away from the city and areas zoned for multiple housing units and low income housing and trailer parks.  Population is dense and near manufacturing.  So yes, the air is different but millions of people pay a little extra for the quality, the space and privacy afforded to those who move out of polluted crowded areas such as you defend.  There is always a reason why some areas and housing is cheaper than others.  Maybe it is the air and maybe it's something you can't quite put your finger on but you know you would prefer not to live in certain areas.  You know what I mean or are you living in one of those areas?  They tell after awhile you block out the sounds, the smells and get used to the pollution.  I don't know.  I didn't stay long enough to test the theory.  My mental and physical health is way too important to me.
I know they live a long time, so if there is a chance they will out live you - sm
make sure you make provisions for them in your will. I have only had cockatiels and some finches, so don't really know anything about the bigger birds. I love African Grey's but they are very expensive.
Live and let live. Don't force your lifestyle on me.

I bought a cheap electric heater and run it pointing towards my feet.
    Cold fingers
Even though I keep my house comfortable, I find my fingers getting cold when I type.  Is it just me. Does anyone have any suggestions.
    Cold in Colorado! ...
Burr is right!  I'm in northern/central Colorado, I think it is about 5 degree now with light snow ... but the wind is dying down.  Horrible hurricane type winds the last few days.  Thanks for mentioning us Coloradans!!  :)
    Cold in the midwest too
I heard on the TV that Cedar Rapids (eastern IA) had temp of -17 with a wind chill of -30 this morning! BRR!
    Old people who are cold?

    cold fingers
All the time when I start out before the work area is sufficiently warmed up with the SPACE HEATER. Space heater essential to get fingers going.
    How about a cold remedy?
I get great relief from colds with Zicam. (I also take 50 mg of oral zinc, which boosts the immune system). I use the Zicam when the cold is in my nose, with runny nose, sneezing, congestion. To open your sinuses you might want to try Rhinocort. You'll need a Rx for it, but it is good stuff. It's safer than Afrin (which works great but can't be used for more than three days, and can raise your BP). Oh, and chicken soup may help.

Hope you are feeling better soon.
