It's what my husband wants as a general rule,  as I said before. When the kiddies are grown, move away, and start paying THEIR rent/mortage, then they can cook whatever they want, whenever they want, and for whom they want. Until that time, they'll follow the rules that my husband and I set forth because quite frankly, we just don't believe children should set the rules.  Of course, you're certainly free to let your children dictate to you whenever they like, but in our home, we have boundaries and rules, and they are followed.
