In Reply to: such things.... - blondie

and how many of these "illegals" do you come in contact with.  I should hope it is more than 2 (the number of "legals" yoy know), very small numbers to base such opinions on.  Maybe you are not a bigot, but certainly ignorant, sheltered, naive.....

true, blondie, & you are no bigot for saying so
A neighbor from Middle Eastern said that in her country, they do not have bathroom/kitchen facilities like in this country. People walk every day to common areas to shower & bring home enough water for that day's use. She said the even the poorest people here are living in luxury in comparison--just because water/baths/showers are so available. So you are no ''bigot'' for stating the obvious.
Nope - you are still a bigot with a low IQ.
Now THAT'S the end of the story!
Then called me a bigot...
…Does not matter that my grandparents Italian, that I have a mixed marriage but I really get tired of hearing crap that is so very hard to decipher. I started out MTing at a teaching hospital almost 30 years ago and we had scores of non-English people dictating but I do not remember it ever being this difficult as today. I work 1 day on the weekend and it seems the ESLs are all over the place then.
This is not being a bigot! Simply stating fact of

Because a trailer park is cheaper housing you get a lot of uneducated people living there who make trailer park living undesirable for most. That is why people make fun of trailer park trash. I am not tearing down anyone. You live where you are comfortable but I would not be comfortable in a trailer park having to defend my style of life and along with my lifestyle, I would be defending the whole trailer park whose lifestyle I may not admire. Bigot schmigot. Trailer park quality of life and conditions in many trailer parks are fact and you choose to ignore it or call people bigots who bring it to others attention.
I'm with Blondie on this...
They do smell, I've been behind them in the grocery store and actually have become nauseated with the stink! Whereever you are, they'll eventually be there. And just wait until one of them runs over you with a grocery cart a few times and then laughs and see how you feel. Wait until one of them literally pushes you with their hand because they're trying to get in line before you. Wait until their American-born kids (who are legal citizens) take over the school and get one-on-one tutoring because they speak no English but you can't get accommodations for your dyslexic child. Wait until one of their little brats rides into your neighborhood on their scooter and spray paints your automobile and the police tell you they can't do anything about it because the parents aren't legal citizens and the county won't prosecute because it costs them too much money to do so with having to get a translator, etc.
Yes, give them time and they will come. And you, too, will develop the same attitude that Blondie and I have.
Thanks, blondie!
It is really interesting to see how differently people react to a simple word. I am glad you are not offended by it.
Hi blondie

I've done VR for Medquist using the DocQSribe platform.  In a 4-hour shift with an account I've been on for 5+ years, my best ever was 1600 lines.  That's about 400 lines per hour.  But I have to say, it depends a lot on the software you're using and how accurate it is.  If you're new to transcription, that's another situation entirely.

Also take into account, depending on the code keys required (alt and ctrl), that 1 or 2 of your fingers will get really sore going that fast.  I took no breaks that shift.  I honestly have to say it was not a fun night, but I needed to get my lines in.  Normally, I VR comfortably at about 250 lines per hour.

Blondie! I am curious. You say you began work as a newbie.  Had you graduated from good MT learning center?  If so, which one?  If so, had you wished you'd found work in an acute care setting after your graduation?

You sure sound like an "angry, hateful, bitter old bigot" in posts above!!

I work for a local insurance company. I kind of fell into the position about seven years ago. I pick up tapes from a woman who works there who happens to live up the street from me so it's convenient. You may want to contact your local insurance companies and see who does their work. I got the job because the service they were using charged a lot more than I did. I charge by the page. I actually make pretty good money doing it.

Was your Expander Shorthand? If possible could you tell me who the client was? (If not I will understand). Thank you.

I was thinking of the cute and paste from Word if I had to take the account. Do you know how they knew you were doing this and what problems they had? Thanks.

Oops - I meant cut and paste. It's never cute!!!
Blondie, I think people would pay you sm
I would check around for rates. I'm so glad you were given the beagle you loved so much. My sister pays big $ to board her Maltese while she is away, the person keeps 3-4 Bichons at a time as her business instead of people bringing them to a kennel. The only thing is she has to keep them inside and she has a big place. From your post, your place is small but you have a kennel set-up. Perhaps outdoor dogs, don't know. Just think dog lovers make excellent pet sitters, walkers, in-house visits, etc. You would be ideal if you had the time. Don't know your situation. Have a good holiday season, you deserve it! Hope transcription picks up for you as well.
