Would you care to share
nm
would you care to share who you IC with?
if you do not mind.  Thanks.
You wouldn't care to share
the name of your "awesome" company, would you? I have to find something stable and secure, making at least what I do now (8.5 cpl), with some flexibility. I have worked from home for 7 years now, and have only received one or two phone calls in that time about a mistake I made on a report; otherwise have had positive comments from my QA.

I absolutely loved my job and company until 01/01 when all H**L broke less with MQ.

I'd like to continue working from home, so I can keep volunteering at my boys' school (they're 8 and almost 10 years old), and be here for them when they're sick, off school, etc., but if I can't find a good company, I'm afraid I'll be forced to join the 8-5rs working outside the home. Then that would open up another whole can of worms, such as what to do with the kids during their days off/summer vacation; when they're sick; etc.

I don't blame you if you don't want to give the company's name out, so as not to have an avalanche of applicants with them. I guess I just needed to ask anyway!

Glad you found a good company. Hope I can, too! :)
Hmm - care to share the spreadsheet?
Is it in Excel? Does it tally for you? This would be awesome to have!
Care to share the name of the company??? nm

Congrats, girl, and get your share of any money that you share before he wipes you out. nm

i'm sorry if you are struggling.
Maybe you didn't know what your options were, which i tried to outline. I sure don't see where there was any disrespect of you, certainly no more than you disrespected the company that pays (&feeds) you.

also, have you noticed? that like begets like, ie, negative comments bring negative responses. You could try an upbeat attitude.
Still struggling....

Also struggling sm
Seems as if I'm typing in mud. Also, DQS keeps switching me back and forth between accounts like I've never been before. Today, it was between 6 different facilities and they were all mixed up. I had to keep checking the client profiles and had a huge headache - all to get 800 lines where on the old MTs I would have had at least 1200 in the same time with far less stress.
Struggling?
You mean like, POWER surges? Wanting to kill the nearest human?? Crying?? ARGHH!!! I hate this.

I don't have insurance, so on 'natural' hormones. They DO help, but it took about 2-3 months before I could tell a difference. But man, oh man, can I tell if I miss a dose, even by an hour!!!

My menopause isn't age-induced, its radiation-induced. My sister (older) said it took her a year to get past the flashes, but now is dealing with the sleeplessness. Her flashes were 'mild' and only 5-7 a day. Mine are break out in a sweat, throw off clothes, stand in front of a fan flashes, and about 10-15 a day (without the hormones, with them, only 2-3 mild ones a day). I wanna be older or younger ... I'm leaning towards older so this is OVER WITH!!!!!! :)
50 and struggling with it! Because of sm
other health problems cannot take hormones anymore. Gonna try exercising and walking. The tired part is very interesting to say the least. Had hysterectomy at 28, left ovaries but still put me in early menopause in my 30s. Aint it a trip? haha
I think we are all struggling
To some extent or another. And I think your right, a lot of it has to do with the economy. When prices go up on everything by the hour its hard to keep up! I used to love going grocery shopping, alone LOL, but now its just absolutely depressing!
Any middle-aged MTs out there struggling like me?

I can only wonder why there are not more support groups for the Baby Boomer mid life females who surely are suffering with the fun of the "change."  This is very interesting to say the least!

--------------------

My Grandmother started walking 5 miles a day when she was 60, she is 97 today and we don't know where the hell she is. ellen

We had a local program like that but now it is struggling
Because so many of the jobs have gone home over the years. In the early 1990's the service I worked for nearly always hired our intern(s) because it was such a great program, but when our service was sold, then sold again to a national, everyone was sent home and the college lost another intern slot.

Yet another reason new MTs have trouble finding work!
Share, share, I've been looking for some time...sm
sending out resumes gallor, have great experience, but they sound like clones of each other in what they offer, yet what they want is it all!!!  I'm so discouraged, in the depression boat myself!  They want you to commit to FT, new equip, DSL, on and on!!!
Kinship care versus foster care/adoption
Having been placed in a position where I now have custody of my 3 YO granddaughter and going through the legal system, I sought an online network of relative caregivers for children. I would encourage you, especially since you are in Georgia, that if you take any children into foster care with the idea of adopting them, there is federal law that requires the state to take certain actions in a specific time frame. When a child is removed from it's bio parent(s), the state is required to investigate any possible relatives who can take the child before foster care is considered, but even before that, reunification with the parents is the priority. Once a child enters the system and is in the system for 15 out of any 22 months, the state is required to find permanent placement for the child.

The problem with this is that there are case workers who may favor a foster family and do not seek out relative care. I have a good friend in Georgia who had to fight all the way to the state level to get custody of her grandson after the child was placed from the hospital into a foster care home with the promise that the foster parents would be allowed to adopt. She has now adopted her grandson, but it was a long, hard battle to get the state to admit their own interests were placed above those of the child and/or family.

If you get a child placed through the state, please make certain there is not a relative who wants that child before you get your hopes up. The courts are now favoring return of children to relatives even after a child has spent years with a foster family who hoped to adopt them.

States get bonus federal funds by complying with the time lines and being able to close the case, so some states place children in foster care because it is easier than trying to locate relatives.

Didn't mean to go off on a tangent, but I can't imagine my sweet bella going to someone outside her family.
If it was a clinic, it might have been urgent care, but it was NOT acute care. sm
Acute care refers to work in an acute care setting, a hospital, doing at least History and Physicals, Discharge Summaries, Consultations, Surgery notes, Emergency Department notes, and much more, including GI procedures, Cardiology procedures, Neurological procedures, Pulmonary Function Studies.  It goes on and on and it means and acute care hospital setting, not a clinic.

Ebonics: Not a black thing or white thing. (sm)

I don't think there's any cause to get upset or defensive here.  Look it up on line...even colleges are offering courses in Ebonics!  ...well of course they are more sociology-type courses, but still, people are PAYING to learn about the why's and how's of this "other" language.

A quote from one of the sites I found:

"UT-Austin's "Introduction to the Study of African American English," teaches students that the sentence, "Nobody didn't leave" is not "mainstream English with mistakes," but rather a legitimate English dialect. "Ebonics: Myth and Facts" and "African-American English" are both offered at Harvard. Penn and UCLA also promote Ebonics as a legitimate dialect in, "Introduction to African American and Latino English" and "Afro-American Sociolinguistics: Black English," respectively."

That is great pay. Where do you work. I read so many people who love where they are but yet no one shares the info. I have been looking the past few months but have yet to find one that starts out with a decent pay. I would have to take a cut in pay just to get more flexibility which I don't think is a fair trade.
Share what?

Our jobs that are limited as it is?  So when we all lose our jobs to people in India, China, etc., can we assume you personally are going to share the money from what used to be our jobs with us so we can keep our homes and feed our families?  I think not.  Transcribe for your own damn doctors and leave the American patients to us.

yes please share with us !

Just had to share

Our Rottie had puppies Saturday morning!!!!!  11 in all,  6 girls and 5 boys.   We lost a baby girl yesterday morning, but the rest are doing great.  We're exhausted, but they're fine.  They're sooooo cute.....

Yes, please share
info about this.
Share What?
There are a lot of claims by a lot of MTs that cpl is the only way to go, and claiming that they are being paid more than most astronauts, but being given a salary/hourly rate to be recognized as the professionals that we are would be nice. When I started out the main issue was understanding the content of what you were transcribing and it was expected that you kept updated on all new terminology, meds, etc. You definitely would not find a nurse or other professional agreeing to be paid by how many blood draws they do and yes, it does boil down to the same thing.

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!
had to share, doc just said...sm
The patient was taped to the operating room.....   Wish I could see that!
Let me share with you....
not really sure what you mean by the long-time MTs getting angry, maybe you can share- I didn’t have internet at all prior to 2004. OMG but made really big money years ago and has it ever dropped now days! But back to sharing… my grandkids who you know can show us all we need to know about the latest gadgets, computers, blackberries, whatever went with me up to my father's home. He was in his late 80s then. I asked the 14-year-old gdaughter to go in the bedroom and call someone for me. She went back but soon returned to where we were and called her brother, a 16-year-old with a puzzled look on her face. Finally the both of them came back into the living room and said they had no idea how to use granddaddys phone- it was a rotary. Laugh, laugh. See it is all when you grow up and with what.
yes PLEASE SHARE
We would all like to work for a great company to! Email me if you prefer.
Just have to share - sm
I have a discharge summary - the guy was in the hospital for a month.  It's 42 minutes long.  The doctor is dictating every consult that saw the patient every day, their impression, and then just reading the assessment and plan, numbering the recommendations, and then....."Thank you for allowing us to see this patient."  Do they even think about what they're dictating???????
had to share this one!!

"She wil be put in an Aircast splint and with crutches and treated with Motrin 800 every 8 hours as needed for pain with food."

often HR will share your ap

Like, I applied for coding and ended up being recruited as an MT (and they never DID fill the coding position as that department was undergoing "internal issues").

Although it is a major slam when you apply for clerical work you get pushed towards being part of the janitorial staff!  Do you have very little MT experience?  I could understand if they offered you something in medical records, but wow, that's quite a leap to think you'd want to wash dishes!

just had to share this one - s/m

a local college has a job posted for an ESL instructor. Any takers?

ESL dictates, "MRS. So-and-so is a 10-year-old female."  Might be able to be a MRS. in your country but not in the USA.
Could you please share
the name of this company?  It sounds an awful lot like what Medquist is doing to us.   Thanks in advance.

sense of irony! I totally get where you are coming from... :)
How funny. I have my share as well and when I
was trying to break my boys of the habit of leaving their dirty clothes wherever they took them off, I wondered how much it would take.

I taught them to do their own laundry when they were about 11 or 12 and then I stopped doing it for them. They were in control of it; if they didn't get it done, they wore dirty clothes.

However, they had a bad habit of taking their socks off in the living room and leaving them there, or in the bathroom and leaving their clothes there. They had clothes baskets in their rooms and in the laundry room for that. I would ask them to pick up and it was always, "later" or "in a minute" but those times never came around.

Finally, I started telling them one time then when they went to bed or left the house and it was not done, I started collecting those things in an old shopping bag. Each night I would quietly put the bag in the trunk of my car. I mean this went on for a few days...quite a few. They had a tendency to wait until the weekend to do their laundry and I remember the frantic desperate search for their clothes. They couldn't find them! Hadd I done their laundry? Nooo. Had I seen their clothes in the bathroom or their socks in the living room? Nooo. They were accusing each other, even! Hahaha They had practically nothing left to wear. HAHAHA I finally told them to bring in the stuff I had in the trunk (of course, they delayed all day on doing that -- all day while they were whining about not finding their clothes and it could have been resolved earlier) and when they did, they had a few bags of dirty stinky laundry! Hahaha I told them next time, I would not store it in the trunk of the car but store it in the garbage dump. They have done pretty well since. On occasion I ask them to pick something up and they realize if it isn't, it goes out in the garbage without another word. Hahahaha
