I have the Infinity - just learning the Emdat platform.  I don't know what you mean about a "switch" on the bottom - they just told me there was a sticker on the bottom for the type/compatibility.  hth

Emdat pedal is not better sm
as a matter of fact, it goes on PS2 port with keyboard and I found it conflicted with my keyboard and switched to a USB keyboard.  Do you have the play and pause function separated under the "Options?"  Just have to learn a new "flow."
Emdat is a funky pedal..sm
It uses your keyboard, but once you program it you do not have to press the F1 and F2 keys. You can program it relatively easy from the Emdat program.

I don't believe it will work with a USB keyboard (at least not that i know of yet).

I have one that I used maybe 3 times because I needed a different keyboard that only uses USB. If interested, e-mail me.
are you using Emdat foot pedal?

Emdat foot pedal help, USB or PS/2?
I am getting ready to purchase an Emdat programmed foot pedal from start-stop. I cannot figure out if I need the USB or the PS/2.

Do you base this on what type of connection your keyboard has?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
EMDAT foot pedal same as
Anyone know if the EMDAT foot pedal is the same as any other wav foot pedal?  Is there something special about it?

There is a new version of Inscribe out that will configure to pedals other than the Emdat pedal.

*silent screaming*  Is there any way to change how far back the voice file goes back when you take your foot off the pedal?  I disabled the pause/play option because I went it to rewide a second or two but not the 10 it is currently doing.  This system is a pain.  I'm hoping it grows on me!

I see a few pages back where people were having the same problem I am currently having, Start and Stop foot pedal not working properly with Inscribe - EMDAT.  Like similar previous posts, it keeps playing even after I take my foot off the pedal and does not allow the foot pedal play feature in certain demographic screens.  I am wondering if anyone has ever gotten their Start/Stop pedal to function properly and if not, where did you end up purchasing another foot pedal from and what type was it.  If I need to purchase another pedal, I just want to be sure that it is the correct one.  Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
EMDAT foot pedal
I just started on the EMDAT platform and did not buy their foot pedal as I have an Infinity foot pedal that works with it.  However, it is driving me crazy.  When I press play for a short period of time and then let up on it, the dictation will not stop.  Only when I hold play down for a long period of time will it stop when I let up on it.  I called EMDAT's help number and really got nowhere.  Has anybody else had this problem.  Should I buy the EMDAT foot pedal - is that any better?
Emdat/Inscribe foot pedal?

Does anyone have any experience with what foot pedal to use for this? I went to the site and they suggest a DicTran pedal that is pre-programmed to work with your keyboard. Also, when you do use it, do you need to press the F1, F2, etc. keys on your keyboard or just use the pedal and that's it? It's also been suggested to use a Gearsplayer, but that's kind of expensive with getting the software, totalling $200. It would be $106 for the DicTran pedal. I have a Dictaphone pedal right now, but was told that would not work with Emdat. Please help!

Thanks!

Emdat foot pedal/Inscribe
I've read mostly negative comments about this.  Does it work with Microsoft 4000 Keyboard?  Is it decent to use as long as demos are pre-filled?  Is it hard to learn?  Thank you for suggestions.

What type of pedal works with this and where did you get it?

Thanks.

What type of foot pedal do you need to use Emdat/Inscribe?
Is it USB? If you have a 9-pin, can you use a converter?
Emdat foot pedal driving me CRAZY---HELP!!!
I just started with a company using Emdat, and purchased a pedal through start-stop. My complaint is this, I am used to a pedal that you hold in for play and release for pause. This pedal you tap for play and tap again for pause. It is seriously screwing me up!

Is this the only way this will work? :( Is there nothing I can do???
I've got a different problem with my Emdat foot pedal sm
I have one with a PS2 that I use with my PC, and it works fine.  The one with the USB port that I use with my laptop drives me nuts.  I bought the laptop specifically so I could travel and work, but I despise using the foot pedal.  When I hit play it plays as it should.  When I remove my foot for it to stop it continues to play for 1-2 seconds.  I talked to the wonderful (gag) people at Stop-Start who were absolutely no help at all although they did okay it for me to send the pedal back and get a new one.  The second one does the exact same thing.  I hate, hate, hate it.
Where to purchase Emdat pedal beside Start/Stop???

EMDAT/InScribe foot pedal issues

I have an Infinity foot pedal that I am using with EMDAT/InScribe.  The pedal works, just not very well.  There is a 2-3 second delay and sometimes it will not stop the audio.  I cannot play the audio file at all if I am not in the InScribe program window.  Sometimes I will lose the audio all together if I am on the web researching things.  It is very frustrating!  I have tried every suggestion on the support page.  I have updated everything on my computer and ran every scan possible.  I do not want to buy a new pedal as this one works.  I hope there is some kind of "fix" for this.  Any suggestions would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

I am running Windows XP professional with Service Pack 3, DSL, Trend antivirus, and the latest versions of Windows Media Player, IE, InScribe, etc.

Thank you  Thank You  THANK YOU  in advance!

Emdat Start/Stop pedal trouble, Help!

Start Stop foot pedal pre-programmed for EMDAT problems

I just got my foot pedal but have no idea how to get it to work with EMDAT Inscribe; much to my dismay a manual was not included with the pedal.  Obviously, even though it was pre-programmed to work with EMDAT, I can't just plug it in and get to work.  UGH!

Can anyone help me here.  I'm a real computer dummy so I need to be walked through the steps as though I were a kid.  BTW, my hot keys are F7 Play, F6 rewind, and F4 RR.

TIA

Emdat Software Question for Emdat Users

Hello:

I have a question about the Emdat software.  Regarding the cc: box, sometimes, you have to type in the address, because the address is not in the database.  I have found that when you try to pause the audio with either the foot pedal or the "F" key assigned to pause while typing the address, the audion will not pause; it keeps on playing.  You should be able to pause the audio while trying to type the address into the database.  Anyone else notice this, anyone?  Thank you kindly.

Does Emdat work with F keys or is is something else? Is Emdat

Bringing up ExpressScribe pedal question again. Does anyone have 9-pin Infinity pedal on a USB?

Is there ONE pedal I can buy that will work with ALL platforms? And where do I shop for a pedal?
.
A wave pedal is a foot pedal that connects to either
serial port, game port, or USB depending on the software needed with it.   You have to download the work via the internet and most companies still require high-speed internet, though some allow dial-up or satellite.   A pedal costs about $70, though can find on e-bay cheaper.  You can download ExpressScribe for free to use with the foot pedal unless the company requires a different software program.
wav pedal is a foot pedal that plugs into your

computer so you can transcribe wav files.  There are many other formats such as DSS, but they are all digital voice files.

I don't think brand of foot pedal is important, but need to know if it is game port, serial port, or USB and how many pins it has.   The majority of them are made by Infinity in some foreign country, but sold by many companies.

WAV pedal vs. USB port foot pedal

PLEASE HELP! Are wav pedals and USB port foot pedals one in the same?  I've only transcribed from audio tapes, and all this is new to me.  Thank you for your help.

A wav pedal is just a generic term for a pedal used to

play voice files  you have on your computer.   You can get them on the equipment board here, e-bay, or you can Google and get lots of other places.  Some pedals are fairly generic and can play multiple "wav" types, but some only work with certain software.  You can have a serial port connection, a game port connection, or a USB connection.

If you do not already have a job that you need a pedal for I'd suggest waiting because you don't know which kind you will use.  If you need it for testing you can download ExpressScribe for free and use the function keys to test.

I also have a USB foot pedal. Do most companies use the USB pedal or SM

will I need a 9-pin or a 15-pin.  Also, which transcription software for playing back audio files is the best?  I've used one that was a fee download, I think it was called Bytescribe or somethingl ike that.  Does that work for most all files or should I look into purchasing something like Start/Stop or GearPlayer?

Oh and does anyone know where I can get Microsoft Word or Office Suite for a reasonable (I'd say cheap, but cheap usually means bootleg) price?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but it's been a while since I've worked for a national.  Before the hopsital job I'm being laid off from, I worked in the office at a hospital.  So I've been out of the loop so to speak.

Thanks guys.

Foot pedal? Going from VXP to applying for other companies. What foot pedal should I get that woul
I need one even just to test so it seems.  Thanks for the input!
INCRE pedal vs. wav pedal
anyone know if express scribe works with the INCRE pedal? I have an infinity pedal which I use for current job, but a possible second job says I need the INCRE, so I am wondering if my current job can be supported with this new pedal.  Any info appreciated

Looked at it for our company as well.....and after using it as an MT for a week, decided it was not for us.....Too expensive, slow (cut my production by half) and uses HTML base rather than plain text base. Our investigation has confirmed that MedPen is a far superior program and you don't have to pay a huge sum up front, then per line just to use the program. EMDAT also outsources to other companies and outsource overseas as well, so please do your homework before you make a decision.

In Reply to: Emdat and 4 cents a line - Please help! posted by Mary on October 06, 2004 at 08:12:51:

First of all, let me clarify something for you. Emdat is a transcription platform, and while it is cumbersome to some and not so cumbersome to others, the MTSO who uses Emdat is the one who controls the line rate, etc. 4 cpl is ridiculously low for anything other than QA. Your dictators will vary in quality, obviously, just like anywhere else. If your skills are good and you are insulted by 4 cpl (which you should be), keep looking. Something better will certainly come your way.

I wanted to clear the air about Emdat because my company uses Emdat also; however, our starting line rate is double what you quoted, and I didn't want people to associate Emdat with low line rates.

Is there anyone out there that can say good things about EMDAT?  I would love any kind of input about it?  I am interested in working for a company that uses it.

Thanks..

I did not think IT worked with emdat. Is it hard to install on emdat? Would like to try and use it if it would would work.

Just CURIOUS!!! Do you enjoy being an IDIOT/JERK? If you go around looking for ways to cut or degrade others comments then you must have some problems. GET A LIFE!!
Emdat

I like Emdat.  I have been using for over 2 years.  When they made the upgrade though, they took out the option to key in word.  I don't like that. But since I have a bad leg on the right side, I can use the hand controls and it works pretty good.  It takes a while to set up your autotext, but again, once it is done, your line count can soar.

Emdat

Does anyone know if Voice Recognition software can be used with Emdat Inscribe.  The office is closed and I am way behind in my typing.  I know that it does type on the screen, but I also know that they have had issues with copy and past (although that is not what this would be) before and I did not want to use it if that would cause the same type of problem.

Emdat- what's that?
Emdat-Inscribe is a platfor that you work out of. It has a spell checker, it has the capabilities of putting in all pertinent patient info for you so all you do is type. At least that is how it was when I typed in it...hope that helps, plus much more on that.
emdat

I've used Emdat for the last 2+ years.  I hated it at first but it's ok now.  We have to put our demographics in, it all depends how the company is set up.  I don't think line counts are that great compared with Word or other platforms.  It was definitely not developed with Transcriptionist input but has gotten better/more user friendly.  Good Luck!

Emdat
I have completed their training and just can't seem to get anywhere with AutoText.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have tried putting in AutoText different ways, but that does not make any difference. What I hate is having to put in all of my autocorrects over again from scratch. I guess I will just keep working with it. IT Pro V looks good too. I will probably eventually buy that. Thanks for the replys.
Emdat
wondering, I wrote out a lengthy e-mail about Emdat but then found out you could not receive it.  I don't have time to write it out again but if you have a specific question, maybe I could help you with that.
Emdat

Have you completed their on-line training?

I am going to Emdat training this morning and will post again if I learn anything I think would help you.  Emdat is not my favorite and I find it hard to get a good line count with it too.

the low was is with Emdat
(Inscribe) and the other line count is just using MS Word.  I have heard others say Emdat has a low line count too, now that I think about it.
emdat
I just think if you are placing an ad for a job from a transcription company and expect perfect work back, then the ad should not have any mistakes. Wonder who is proofing their work!lol.
Emdat
I had trouble with it.  I don't like typing in boxes, so I would choose the type in Word option; however, it doesn't pull all of what you type in Word and put it in the appropriate place.  The symbols do not translate between what you type in Word and the Emdat format.  An example . . . when I would type the ' and " signs it would not come up on the Emdat screen as such.  It was a complete waste of time.  Perhaps it just doesn't fit well with Word 2003?  I was constantly getting faulted for things I was told I did not type and I know I did.  The spell checker is horrible.  It flags all medical words incorrect or correct.  I will not ever work with it again.
