I am glad some nice people finally replied.  I didn't have any real answers but totally understood what you meant.

I work in-house at the moment and although I started in 1996, I worked in-house then too, so I was paid an hourly rate and there were no Expanders or incentive programs, working long hours, etc. No way of making extra money at it.  It was like being a secretary.    We make very little per line now working in-house -- .075/line but there is an incentive program where people who have been with the hospital a long time seem to be the only ones benefiting from the incentive program.

I have only been there a year and a half.  I have a friend/co-worker who has been there 4 years.  However, she has been working as a Transcriptionist since 1982.  She is very fast.  I sometimes watch her type and she is good at what she does and she can barely make the intermediate level on the incentive program.  She was having similar problems with the expanders and shortcuts, but I think she is finally figuring them out now.  However, now there is talk of switching to speech recognition editing.  We will basically be editors and they will probably pay us less.

I have worked from home as well making more per line but also had trouble with finding the right fit, right platform, right account, etc.  MTing isn't something I would recommend to anyone to do for a living.  Although some are real lucky at it -- in the right place at the right time, kind of like our housing market.  Some have made money on the housing market and some are barely breaking even. So I see them as being lucky.

I agree with annabanna, don't be afraid to keep searching until you find the right fit.  Good luck in your search.

I will definitely check that site out!
Hello Angie
I always seperate with commas if doctor does not specify while dictating in a sentence. It has always gone through QA okay with no errors.
