salaries
Could you just share the name of the platform you work on? Thanks.
LPN salaries
They start at around $15/hr. here in north Florida. Ex-daughter-in-law just called and so I asked her; she is a CNA on the waiting list for nursing school and earns $13 an hour (but CNAs generally start at around $8.50 here).

Radiology technician is a 2-year degree with a starting salary of over $50,000 per year (at least here). As in anything else, salaries will likely vary with demand locally.
For average salaries, hello?
YOU make no sense.  Are you a transcriptionist?  I did not say ESLs, I said bad dictators.  Try reading the post or do a search as the average has been posted here before.  YOU are a troll.
Oregon salaries
I am tired of being called a liar that I embelish my income, etc.  So I just called 10 MT's out here in Oregon that I have known for quite a while and they all hit between 45 and 60K this year.   Of course we do all the accounts that you a lot of you don't like to do which involve pick-up, delivery, printing, the smaller one to two doctor offices, being friendly and interactive with the staff.  And we keep our line charge lower that a lot of you like and some of you have told me that I am bringing the MT world down by working for this amount -- we all charge between 10.5 to 12.5 cpl using Sylcount.  Through all of this, and none of us work more than 45 hours per week -- me I am the highest, most work 30 to 35 hours, we have made the money and so I guess we are doing something right.  To those that say we are padding our incomes --I think you are all jealous and just don't have the umph to go out and do it.  And yes, we have ESL's and some work  hospital overflow, surgical center, Wound Clinic, clinics, psych reports.   There are other niches out there --ya gotta have the drive and the umph to go and get them.
Uh-oh ... well, I do not want to get any trouble for broadcasting salaries sm

and then others in the company maybe find out they are not making that and be upset.  Not trying to be coy or anything, and I wish I could share.  Back in the YOG days, I was making 0.0975 cpl and was patting myself on the back ... then found out another MT I knew was making 10.  I didn't jump off a bridge or anything (ha), but probably would have been happier if I didn't know.   Of course, when MQ (formerly known as The Squid) took over, I left.

However, for what it is worth, it used to be somewhat "public knowledge" that MDI-MD paid up to 11 cpl, but then I saw a post not too long ago saying that they had changed their max to 10 cpl or something.  And I'm told that Futurenet pays 11 cpl for some accounts but I have no personal knowledge of that.   Same for JLG -- used to pay 9 or 10 cpl by the gross line, but I do not know what they pay now.

I'd say, keep a close eye on the jobs advertised here, MT Jobs, MT Desk, etc., and there are still a few MTSOs willing to pay top dollar for top dollar.  It is a disgrace that most big companies want the best MT with tons of experience, and then offer something insulting like 8 cpl.

If I could get the top level salaries at MQ, I would consider it. I have not seen $400K EVER.nm

Some advice about disclosing salaries
Here is a post from craigslist in Austin, TX about disclosing salaries.

"Never reveal your salary. As a former hr director, and now a career counselor, the best thing to do is to tell them your 5 year compensation. For instance, at my last corporate job, I told the hiring manager...

"Over the past 5 years, my compensation has ranged from 65K to 115K not necessarily in that order. I'm sure that you have researched the salary range for this position and that you are well within it.”

~~~~~~~~
Some people have personally suggested that you should apply for a job even if you don't want to tell them your current salary. Apply and just NOT include that information.
People I know have said not to be specific about salary. Just say that the salary you've received in the past has depended on the job and its requirements. Also say a similar thing when they ask you specifically about what salary you want. Say it depends on the scope of work and the responsibilities, and what is expected of you. You can also say that you know they must have a range of what they would pay and that your salary requirements most likely fall within that range. Hopefully, they'll tell you the range and then you can say that you're interested in the high end ... lol. If the high end of the range is too low for you, tell them that. You can always ask them if they would reconsider that range because of your experience.
All mealy-mouth words, but that's what you have to do. You're both trying to get the information - they want to pay you as low as possible and you want to be paid as well as possible.
I must say that the information I'm giving is not based on MT jobs. It is based on technical writing and editing jobs and several other similar jobs. However, I think the information applies to most jobs.
Good luck!
AHDI Board Salaries?
This is from the AHDI website. There are links to a "BOD packet," and to a financial statement, which they are calling "privileged" i.e., you have to be a member to access these.
http://www.ahdionline.org/scriptcontent/bodmain.cfm
I'm not a member, but if you are, have a look. Maybe their salaries are listed? Or maybe in the financials link?
I would bet a lot that no one on the AHDI board is driving a 1986 Honda.
They just had this on the news about trucker salaries taking a big hit and
that a lot of truckers were foreigners too.
Annual salaries of full time transcriptionists
For the veteran's out there- What is your average annual salary (working from home). Also, the companies that offer full time transcriptionists benefits, are the benefits any good?
Shopping for me.
aa
Try shopping around
There are a lot of lenders out there that will finance less than perfect credit. There is a lender who can probably give you a higher interest rate, then within the next couple years, get your credit score cleaned up (there are lots of tips on how to do that on the internet) and refinance to get a better rate as soon as you can get your score up. Be careful paying anything off that is on your credit report if it is getting ready to come off. That will leave it on there for a longer time. Get on the internet and read about your credit score and what you can do.
Sorry, that should be: No shopping FOR me, but....
shopping
Don't you always have that ONE gift that you have to search high and low for?  Well, that's me today!  An oriental rug (with particular colors of course!) for my brother's new house!  Especially here in Texas where is it 68 degrees, it's hard to get in the spirit!
SUV shopping
We are going to start shopping for a used SUV, less than 20K, probably 2003 to 2005 depending on model.  Leaning towards Ford or GM models, mid size, but right now open to most anything.
Can any of you who own SUVs comment on what you own and what you like/dislike about it?   TIA :)
Shopping around...
Hi Everyone...I am new to this board and would like some advice from experienced MT's out there! I have been working for a company for the past three years and things aren't quite panning out to my satifaction lately. I'm thinking of applying for other jobs with more benefits. Here's my question - What do you guys do when you aren't happy with your present employment? Do you list your current employer on your resume? Okay....What I'm getting at is this >>>>Will my present employer be contacted for a reference check, etc. should I be considered for another job?
Any help would be appreciated...Thanks!
Shopping for my home.
Need some bargains that end of summer brings.
school shopping w/my 14 YOD
I think I'd rather be working!!! this is me at the mall w/her!!! Looking at the same pair of jeans for the 100th time, trying to decide if she likes them!!!
shopping at Wal-Mart
Our Wal-Mart Superstore is supposed to be ready by October and it is only 20 blocks from my house.  It has been open for about five years and now they are turning it into a superstore.  Im ready.  I know some of my political friends ask how could I shop there as they dont have benefits for their employees, LOLOLOL, heck, my trans company does not provide me with any benefits either..so, sure I feel the employees pain but I need to provide for my family and that comes first..I cant wait till Wal-Mart Superstore opens, then I can do my grocery and department store shopping all at once while my car is being serviced in their automotive area.
Thanks! I do most of my Christmas shopping
Love the fact that I can work and shop at the same time! And it's all delivered to me!
on-line shopping
Just curious about on-line shopping. What are the best on-line stores to shop in -- any opinions? I'm talking clothes for teenagers, accessories, books, DVDs, etc.
Internet shopping
I have to rank in the top ten of Internet shoppers. I have bought more at Amazon.com than most people buy at Wal-Mart.  My credit card company sends an end-of-year statement that looks like a booklet!  I have never had any problems with Amazon.com.  I've bought, books, DVDs, videos, appliances, toys, furniture, you name it.   I've never had a shipping problem, and if I had to return anything there were no problems.  The only things I haven't bought at Amazon is clothes and perishable items.  I have bought clothing and things from Eddie Bauer with no problems.... And then there's all those specialty shops!  Bath and Body Works has finally gone to internet shopping!  Anyway, you get the idea.  Happy clicking!
No shopping but me, but did you see the lady with the wig?
DH went out shopping later in day and said it was dead.
secret shopping
Have you found any shops that will pay you more than $10.00 or less? I haven't!
My husband usually does the shopping
I do remember from several years back that local grocery stores would not allow their employees to accept tips because they were paid at least minimum wage already. This seemed unusual to me as I grew up in a military household, and on base (Eglin A.F.B.), the baggers there worked for tips only.
mortgage shopping
Hi, this board is so helpful regarding so many different things, I thought I'd ask about my current dilema.  Just sold my home in SE New Mexico, moving to Albuquerque.  Obviously a site built home is the easiest one to get a mortgage for at low interest rates (I have excellent credit), but because of the cost I'm also looking at manufactured/mobile homes on their own land and in a park.  This is just for me and my dog, so I don't need anything large anyway. Does anyone have any advice regarding buying a modular/mobile home as I have never owned one before?  Thank you for any thoughts you might have regarding this.
Shopping for new carpet but not sure
I have 4 animals so it would have to be durable.  My budget does not allow for anything but carpet and the one I have has had it.
Can anyone suggest an attractive yet durable carpet?  I also wonder about the glue and will there be fumes?
Thank you for your time.
One Word - SHOPPING!!!!!
An when the weather permits - beachin' it!       Luvin' that IC status, or take a PTO day just for sanity to rejuv and get in a new groove!      Spring is here!  Have some friends over, let your hair down...    You'll be surprised how great you feel!  JMO.
My best friend and I are going Christmas shopping....
I'm getting as many gifts as I can put on layaway this weekend.  I am determined to finish early this year so I can enjoy the holiday.  After shopping, we are going to dinner and mabye a movie.
I met him walking around downtown shopping..sm
basically on the "street corner" waiting for the light to change to walk across the street.  He just started talking to me...and now we are hitched.
Who had fun shopping on "Black Friday"? - I did - sm
but I go without a "toy" agenda (did my toy shopping Monday and Tuesday so I had everything I wanted already), just go to get my kids and husband clothes mainly at great prices and to have fun with the kids--continuing the "tradition" that I had with my mom.  Got myself a 1 GB Verbatin "Store 'n Go" since my zip disks are dying, $40 (reg. price $90), another great deal!  I bought my DH 4 good dress shirts normally $136, for $62, can't beat that.  Kohl's was packed so unfortunately did not get anything there like I would have liked to, the line was halfway to the back of the store but Sears and Penney's were fine, stood in line for 10 minutes tops, can live with that.   Well off to do some work now......luckily not too tired to bang out 40 minutes or so.  Have a good weekend!
Shopping - yes, making gifts - no
I still have pictures to frame and pillows to finish sewing and stuffing.
Absolutely not. I took today off so I can get my shopping done.
It's also been 50 degrees here with no snow and no money, so I'm not in the mood for Christmas. We've all got viral respiratory infections. I had maybe three hours of sleep last night. I have no idea what anybody wants or needs. Time to go spend my stash of gift cards and coupons on people. Next year, I'm going to do it right. Are you sorry you asked? ;D
Just found out they are here local! Going shopping nt
I ment to say gift shopping. nm
Maybe you can contact the shopping channel. nm
Wish I could afford...
...to do that! I am SO SO SICK OF MQ!!! They are driving me crazy! I am on my 3rd MT Supervisor in three months and still have not heard one word from the latest one. They just don't care about us at all. I understand that's the nature of the biz, but my God, would it kill you just to drop an email and introduce yourself???
Wish I could afford...
my TC? sorry, what's that?
If you can afford it, go for it. sm
Just remember, if you work as an IC you may have a "nonconforming" loan which may give you a little higher interest rate.  If you can document your income with pay stubs and W2s as well as income tax forms, you may be "conforming" and be able to get the lowest interest rate possible.
If your credit scores are high enough, you can always do 100% finance with an 80/20 loan which will eliminate PMI monthly payment.  Your credit scores need to be 685 or higher for 100% finance.
Shop around for the best interest rate, but DO NOT let everyone pull your credit.  Have one loan officer pull your credit report and ask him what your scores are.  When you shop to the next loan officer, tell them do not pull your credit report, but here are my scores.  Just give them your scores and ask what is the best interest rate they can give you.  The more people who pull your credit report, the lower the score goes.  It drops 2 or 3 points each time it is pulled by mortgage loan officers.
Also, you can buy down to a lower rate.  So, if they quote you 5.75%, you can buy that down probably to 5.3% for 0.375% of the total mortgage you are borrowing (which in reality is 0.375 of 1 point).
I hope this advice helps - good luck. I say go for it!  No better feeling than to own your own home.
I bought a new house last year and we just refinanced and closed on Friday.   That is why all of this information is so fresh in my mind.  Also, my sister is a mortgage loan officer, so she helped me a lot and explained how things work.
Always ask what your closing costs will be - different mortgage brokers charge differently.  One may be $4000 and another may be $8000.  That is a huge difference.   Some want more profit, others are reasonable.
Best of luck to you.
Here is the best if you can afford it.
Which can you afford more?
The emergency room bill....or the loss of your DH?
I'm not trying to be harsh, but money concerns should not keep you from getting medical help when it is needed and warranted.
It really sounds like some kind of allergic reaction.  But it may also be something harmless.  I agree with the other poster about calling your MD.  You cannot fool around with stuff like this.
Me too! I can't afford NOT to be an MT!
Can't afford not to
I don't know how you've figured all this out. I have spent HOURS researching all this becuase when I started with learning MT, I barely knew how to turn a computer on, so I was completely in the dark. The only thing I've been able to conclude for sure is that you will pretty much get different information every time you go to a different site. I have tried soooo many different things and to be honest, I really haven't found any one thing to be much better than another, even the things I've started paying for.
I will definitly make a block of time very soon (tomorrow?) and try your group of programs and ideas and hopefully it will help.
Sure do appreciate all your time and thought into your post(s), btw.
Whether you can afford or not SM
you are going to have to see an accountant and/or a lawyer.  We cannot teach you how to be an IC or how to set up a company.  That is a job for a professional and I would never give advice on either (or take advice) on a message board.
unfortunately I can't afford $99 fee
.
what is a "hacker-free" shopping site? nm
nm
a shopping site free of hackers maybe?
Okay shopping for a house and I found new construction.
The name of the street is Wild Turkey Walk.  I refuse to buy a house on Wild Turkey Walk.  Another street is Squirrel Run.  How does a person come up with these names?   I want the job of naming streets in new subdivisions.  Has anyone been shopping for houses, new or old, and refused to live on a silly named street?
I agree - no shopping for me on BF. I will go next week or 2 or on line. nm
